Ban Ki-Moon’s Neville Chamberlain Moment

Posted by Joseph Klein Bio ? on Aug 28th, 2012

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon succumbed to pressure from Iran and its anti-American allies by deciding to attend a summit meeting in Tehran later this week of the 120-member “Non-Aligned Movement.” Iran is heralding Ban Ki-moon’s visit to Tehran as proof positive of its unbowed diplomatic prowess. Israel and the United States tried to dissuade Ban Ki-moon from attending, but to no avail.

“The extraordinary effort that the Iranian leaders have put into the summit is intended to showcase Iran’s global role and offer concrete evidence that the U.S. policy of isolating Iran has failed,” said Farideh Farhi, an independent Iranian scholar at the University of Hawaii, as quoted by the New York Times.

In an extraordinary display of naiveté, Ban believes that he can use his visit to persuade Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to heed the international community’s concerns about Iran’s behavior in a number of key areas.  The Secretary General’s spokesman Martin Nesirky said that Ban expects “meaningful and fruitful discussions” during which he intends to raise directly with his hosts the issues of Iran’s nuclear program, its support for Syrian President Assad’s crackdown, its own human rights violations and its repeated calls for the destruction of Israel. Ban is “fully aware of the sensitivities” of the visit, the spokesman claimed, but not going “would be a missed opportunity.”

Islam’s Universal Economic Failure

Posted by Daniel Greenfield Bio ? on Aug 1st, 2012

If Romney accomplished nothing else during his Israeli visit, he did manage to offend every single Palestinian Arab terrorist group, all of whom, the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP and the DFLP, issued press releases denouncing him. American media outlets have been denouncing him for saying that the GDP Per Capita differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority represent a contrast in values.

The official media narrative is that these differences are the results of oppression, checkpoints and blockades. But then why does the IMF put Israel’s GDP Per Capita well ahead of the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has no Israeli checkpoints, no Israeli soldiers or planes flying overhead. It has wealth literally pouring out of the ground with a fifth of the world’s petroleum reserves. And yet the IMF puts it 13 places behind Israel and the World Bank puts it 8 places behind Israel. The only Muslim countries with a better GDP Per Capita than Israel are small monarchies drowning in oil.

The non-oil Muslim countries who are closest to Israel are Malaysia and Lebanon, 32 and 33 places behind Israel. Both countries also have sizable non-Muslim populations. Muslims make up only 50 percent of Lebanon and only 60 percent of Malaysia. No Muslim country without oil has a better GDP Per Capita than a Muslim country with sizable Christian or Buddhist minorities.

What is Sharia?

Posted by Dr. Hans Jansen Bio  on Jul 16th, 2012

The Islamic Sharia is a system of law. It is a collection of prohibitions, admonitions and commands about human behavior. The Sharia is not an internal matter that only concerns Islam and Muslims. The Sharia includes a large number of provisions about people who are not Muslims. These rules are usually prohibitions that carry severe penalties if violated. These provisions of the Sharia make life unsafe and uncertain for someone who lives under Sharia law and who is not a Muslim.

Under Sharia law, someone who is not a Muslim possesses no inalienable rights. If I am wrong here, I will be relieved, and happy to stand corrected and receive your e-mails pointing out why I am wrong. But if I am right, a prisoner in Guantanamo Bay possesses more rights than a Jew or a Christian who lives under Sharia law.

Unlike the legal systems of most modern nation states, Sharia law is not subject to democratic supervision. Like international law and rabbinic law, Sharia law is an academic affair: experts discuss and debate the rules until they reach an agreement. Sharia law does not know a parliament or a government that acts as legislator, but the rules of the Sharia come into being by being agreed upon by the experts, that is, the Islamic religious leaders, the professional Muslims, the Ulama, Ayatollahs, or whatever these dignitaries are called.

Decision by Netanyahu, Barak to strike Iran is almost final — Israel TV

By Times of Israel staff August 11, 2012

PM believes Iran’s regime is aiming to ‘destroy the Jewish people,’ does not think Obama will resort to force. Nuclear drive ‘further ahead’ than previously thought. In a year, Israeli action could have only ‘negligible effect’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak have “almost finally” decided on an Israeli strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities this fall, and a final decision will be taken “soon,” Israel’s main TV news broadcast reported on Friday evening.

Channel 2 News, the country’s leading news program, devoted much of its Friday night broadcast to the issue, detailing the pros and cons that, it said, have taken Netanyahu and Barak to the brink of approving an Israeli military attack despite opposition from the Obama administration and from many Israeli security chiefs.

Critically, the station’s diplomatic correspondent Udi Segal said, Israel does not believe that the US will take military action as Iran closes in on the bomb.

The US, the TV report said, has not provided Israel with details of an attack plan. President Obama has not promised to attack Iran if all else fails. Conditions cited by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta for an American attack do not calm Israeli concerns. And Obama has a record of seeking UN and Arab League approval before action. All these factors, in Jerusalem’s mind, underline the growing conviction of Netanyahu and Barak that Israel will have to tackle Iran alone, the TV report said.

Renewed Iranian Calls for Israel’s ‘Annihilation’

Posted by Arnold Ahlert Bio  May 22nd, 2012

Monday, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) head Yukiya Amano met with Fereidoun Abbasi-Davani, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), in an initial conference over Iran’s nuclear program. The Iranian Fars News Agency said the meeting represented the ”eagerness” of the UN to “further develop cooperation with Iran in various areas of nuclear applications,” and it is clear the rosiness of the state media’s characterization is not without good reason. For, while the West is banking everything on an appeasement strategy with Iran, the Islamic Republic is busy broadcasting to the world its Hitlerian intentions to annihilate Israel, daring the international community to bat an eyelash.

Renewed talks with Iran come on the heels of a speech delivered Sunday by Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, Iran’s military chief of staff, in which he called for the “full annihilation of Israel.” Like every other Iranian pronouncement revealing the murderous nature of the current regime, it will likely be brushed aside when negotiations between Iran and P5+1, (the United States, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany), begin in Baghdad tomorrow. Iran’s Best Defense

Posted by Michael Widlanski on Apr 17th, 2012

As US officials again ask Iran to stop its atom bomb program, President Barack Obama seems to be working hard to shield Iran and to prevent Israel from striking at Iran’s nuclear weapons potential. US officials are believed to be behind stories about Israel readying basing and refueling options in countries near Iran, like Azerbaijan.

The Azeris quickly denied they allowed Israel to use their land., and this is a sign the Azeris are feeling pressure not to help Israel, even as Obama reportedly used the Islamist and strongly anti-Israel leader of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, to send a message to Iran that the US would be willing to accept “an Iranian civilian nuclear program.”

For Israel—and for Saudis, Jordanians and Egyptians—Iran’s  bomb is not a matter that can be indefinitely delayed in a diplomatic ping-pong match.

President Obama has been rotating his top officials on and off the diplomatic playing field to deter an attack on Iran. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Martin Dempsey, and many others have been sent to Jerusalem to tell Israel NOT to attack Iran.

Open Doors: Growth of Christianity in Iran ‘Explosive’

The Christian Post Middle East Sunday, Mar 25, 2012

Despite the Iranian government’s ongoing crackdown of Christians living in the primarily Islamic country, the number of Muslims converting to become Christians is growing at an explosive rate, according to the persecution watchdog group Open Doors USA.

There is even talk of witnessing a Christian revival, especially among young people living in the country, say Open Doors ministry workers in the Middle East.

A house church movement within Iran is part of that revival and has triggered “many secret meetings.” The growth in the number of Christians is happening in all regions, but mostly in larger cities, say Open Doors workers in the region.

Iran is ranked 5th on the Open Doors 2012 World Watch List of the top 50 worst persecutors of Christians.

“Open Doors workers think that the growth of Christianity has everything to do with Iranians getting to know the real face of Islam, the official religion of Iran, and the mistrust of the people toward the government and leaders following the fraudulent 2009 presidential election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,” said a Middle East worker for Open Doors (name withheld for security reasons).

Since the beginning of this year, authorities have arrested Christian converts in Tehran, Ahwaz, Shiraz, Isfahan and Kermanshah, according to news reports from the Middle East and U.S. (more…)

Iran’s top ayatollah: We’re trumping the West

Jewish World Review By Scott Peterson – 09/02/12

In a State of the Union-like speech before March elections, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tries hard — very hard — to delude the masses

ISTANBUL— (TCSM) Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed that Iran would not “retreat” on its nuclear program, and warned that any military strike “will be 10 times more detrimental to the US” than to Iran.

In a defiant speech delivered at Friday prayers at Tehran University, Ayatollah Khamenei portrayed the Islamic Republic as an omnipotent, triumphant regional player whose revolutionary example was the “biggest success in modern history,” even as the US and NATO were “becoming weaker and weaker.”

He claimed that Iran is the vanguard of an Arab world “Islamic Awakening,” which brought down three dictators in the past year, and said Iran would support “any group in the world” fighting Israel.

Coming just days before the 33rd anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Khamenei’s near-exultant speech — Iran’s annual equivalent of a State of the Union address — elucidated Iran’s current worldview as pressure mounts toward conflict. But his declarations of Iranian influence abroad were also counterbalanced by his acknowledgement of “weaknesses” and political division at home. (more…)

No-kidding red lines: U.S. response to an Iranian nuke may be bluster, but Israel’s won’t be

By Frank J. Gaffney Jrhttp://www.JewishWorldReview.com |

“Don’t do it.” That is the message American officials, from President Obama on down, are delivering to their Israeli counterparts in the hope of dissuading the Jewish state from taking a fateful step: attacking Iran to prevent the mullahs’ imminent acquisition of nuclear weapons.

This week, the nation’s top military officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin E. Dempsey, will visit Israel to convey the same message in person. If recent reports of other U.S. demarches are any guide, the general will deliver an insistent warning that Israel must give sanctions more time to work and refrain from acting unilaterally.

Such warnings have become shriller as evidence accumulates that Israel is getting ready to move beyond what is widely believed to be a series of successful – but insufficient – covert actions against the Iranian nuclear program, missile forces and associated personnel.

Some U.S. officials reportedly think the Israelis are just posturing. As one put it, they are playing out a “hold me back” gambit – perhaps hoping the Americans will do the job themselves or at least hoping to be rewarded for their restraint.Others point, however, to evidence that the Israelis are concealing key military movements from our intelligence assets as an indicator that they are going for it and want to keep us from interfering. At a minimum, Jerusalem would have to worry that an American administration that is holding secret negotiations with Tehran in Turkey at the level of Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns would seek to curry favor with the mullahs by compromising any information it obtains about Israel’s intentions.  (more…)

UK and U.S. ‘draw up joint plan to attack Iran’: Evidence of nuclear programme raises tension in Middle East

Possible routes of attack on Iran by U.S. and UK militaryMail Online By Ian Drury on 3rd November 2011

The UK and U.S. are drawing up plans to attack Iran amid growing tensions in the Middle East, it was claimed last night.

Barack Obama and David Cameron are preparing for war after reports that Iran now has enough enriched uranium for four nuclear weapons.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s hardline regime in Tehran has been linked to three assassination plots on foreign soil, according to senior officials in Whitehall.

Iran has come sharply back into focus following the end of the Libya conflict.

And the unrest has been inflamed by sabre-rattling from top politicians in Israel. (more…)

You Can’t Stop the Holy Spirit—Iran’s Persecution of Christians Causing Huge Growth of Underground Church

by Aimee Herd : Jun 6, 2011 : Trevor Persaud – Christianity Today

“…in places like Tehran and more educated communities, if you say, ‘I have become a Christian,’ they will respect you because of your courage and your independent thinking.” -Issa Dibaj

(Iran)—Just as we have witnessed in China, where oppression against Christians there has only caused faith, and the underground Church to grow exponentially over the years; the same is reportedly happening now in Iran.

According to a recent article in Christianity Today, it was noted that Iran’s Government previously had discounted Believers denying that any “Iranians become Christians.” But that now the House Church movement has become too big for them to ignore, and they’ve subsequently labeled the grass roots movement as “enemies of Iran.”

Will the Western World Surrender to the Middle East? – By Pr Daniel Nalliah

London RiotsDear family & friends in Christ across our Nation of Australia and around the World,

Over the past several years, I have been very carefully watching the unfolding events across the world and asking the questions, “Will the Western world surrender to the Middle East and lose its Judeo-Christian Heritage, Freedom of Speech, Democracy, etc. to the political, social, economic, religious and spiritual force of Islam? How long will it be before the West wakes up and realises that if the current trend continues, we could have Islamic Sharia Law dominating parts of the West, as it is already happening in many parts of Europe?”

While watching the media breaking news across the Middle East over the past 6 months or so, in particular PRESS TV NEWS, a channel which comes through satellite and is broadcast from Iran, of the many increasingly spreading revolutions throughout the Middle East, I have heard many Islamic clerics and others in the revolution repeatedly proclaim, “We will take this revolution into Europe.”  Then they went on to call on the youth in Europe to start similar revolutions there.

Over the past week or so, I have been watching the latest developments in the UK on news and noticed that most rioters were youth. Who is behind the current riots in the UK is a question we need to ask? Is it simply because of one young man’s death, or is there a well organised movement coordinating these riots?

Current Events In Light of Bible Prophecy

By Joel Rosenberg – posted on May 11, 2011

Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39, what Bible scholars describe as the coming “War of Gog & Magog”

Over the next few days, I’ll share with you some of my notes. Today, let’s start by defining who “Gog” and “Magog” are, when this prophecy will take place, and what countries will be participating in the coalition against Israel:

1. The Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel lived in Babylon (Iraq) more than 2,500 years ago and the Lord gave him a vision of events that would take place in the future.

2. Ezekiel 38:16 specifically tells us these events will take place in the “last days” — that is in the End Times before the Messiah comes to set up His kingdom on earth.

3. Ezekiel chapters 36 and 37 set the stage for the “War of Gog and Magog” by describing that Israel will be reborn as a country in the last days, the Jewish people will come back to the Holy Land from exile all over the world, the Jewish people will rebuild the ancient ruins and make the deserts bloom again. These things have all happened, and this suggests we are getting closer to the fulfillment of the next set of prophecies.

Dear Elijah List Readers:

In late March, 2011, a battle cry was released in the Middle East as the Palestinian Authority recreated a Third Intifada page, which had previously been banned by Facebook. This page was calling for the destruction of the State of Israel and encouraging the gathering of millions to invade Israel’s borders on May 15, 2011. Once the page was removed from Facebook, additional pages with the same call to action have been posted. Since their creation, these Facebook pages have gathered hundreds of thousands of “Likes,” with similar pages gathering over 3,000,000 votes of support.
