Smith Wigglesworth Church Set to be Resurrected

Smith Wigglesworth PreachingThursday, January 20, 2011 – Assist News Service

MANNINGHAM, UK (ANS) — The site of world-famous supernatural happenings is set to be restored to its former glory – and turned into a centre of healing, a museum and coffee shop.

Bowland Street Mission, nestling between a taxi firm and a takeaway food shop, in Manningham, in Northern England, is where the extraordinary “people’s preacher” Smith Wigglesworth had his base.

Now news that the building is to be restored and used to continue his ministry has believers around the world buzzing with excitement – and booking flights for Bradford.

Brian Holland, of Idle, with his wife Kathryn, and international preacher and broadcaster Terry Quinn are founding members of the Smith Wigglesworth Foundation which has agreed a long-term lease on the building.

Brian said: “I have been studying Wigglesworth for nearly two decades and while only a select number of Bradfordians know about this guy, he is big news around the world.

“Wigglesworth was a catalyst for the charismatic revival of the church and one of the fathers of the Pentecostal church.

The Orwellian logic that’s turning the faith Britain was built on into a crime

Dale McAlpine was hauled to court after telling a gay police community support officer he thought homosexuality was a sinBy Melanie Phillips – 3rd May 2010

Terrifying as this may seem, the attempt to stamp out Christianity in Britain appears to be gathering pace.

Dale Mcalpine was preaching to shoppers in Workington, Cumbria, that homosexuality is a sin when he found himself carted off by the police, locked up in a cell for seven hours and charged with using abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

It appears that two police community support officers – at least one of whom was gay – claimed he had caused distress to themselves and members of the public.

Under our anti-discrimination laws, such distress is not to be permitted.

Dale McAlpine was hauled to court after telling a gay police community support officer he thought homosexuality was a sin.

And so we have the oppressive and sinister situation where a gentle, unaggressive Christian is arrested and charged simply for preaching Christian principles.

It would appear that Christianity, the normative faith of this country on which its morality, values and civilisation are based, is effectively being turned into a crime. (more…)

Police chief hails power of prayer in driving down town’s crime rates

Inspector Roger Bartlett (left) pictured with street pastors in Exeter: The policeman asked churchgoers to pool their efforts in calling on a higher powerBy Beth Hale on 22nd February 2010

When Inspector Roger Bartlett realised his patch had one of the poorest crime detection rates in the area, he decided he needed help.

So he asked churchgoers to pool their efforts in calling for back-up – from God.

Three years after encouraging Christians from local churches to say prayers to help policemen, detection rates have soared, road accidents have fallen and Mr Bartlett is convinced it is evidence of divine intervention.

CLASSIC FM PROMOTING ‘NOT THE MESSIAH’

Christian Voice E-Alert – 20th March 2010

Classic FM are promoting the showing of the blasphemous ‘Not the Messiah’, on the Classic FM website and in trailers.  ‘Not the Messiah’ is by Monty Python’s Eric Idle.  It is being screened in cinemas this Thursday (25th).  It is a musical version of ‘The Life of Brian’ in which Brian gets mistaken for the real Messiah and is crucified.  Well-meaning people will urge us to see it all as not about Christ but about Brian and to see the funny side.

But the film sponges off the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ and this mock-oratorio parodies the glorious music of Handel’s masterwork.  It is even billed as ‘a spoof of Handel’s Messiah’.  It has the song from ‘Life of Brian’ which ‘Brian’ sang while hanging from the cross, ‘Always look on the bright side of life.’  Crucifixion is not funny.  It even has ‘Hail to the Shoe’ sung to the music of the Hallelujah Chorus.  That isn’t funny either.

While pretending ‘Not the Messiah’ is not blasphemous or offensive, Idle is well aware of what he is doing – mocking the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  According to Eric Idle: “There is no controversy .. it’s only people stupid enough to realise Christ is in the movie twice, and Christ isn’t Christ, so there’s no real controversy… It’s very simple – you either get it or you don’t.” (more…)

Minister admits Islamic extremists who believe in jihad and sharia law have infiltrated the Labour Party

Islam is spreadingBy Daily Mail Reporter on 28th February 2010

Minister Jim Fitzpatrick said the Islamic Forum of Europe was acting like a party within Labour

The Labour Party has been inflitrated by Islamic fundamentalists, a Government Minister admitted today.

Members of the Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE) which believes in Britain should develop sharia law have placed sympathisers in elected office and local branches of parties, an investigation revealed.

The covert campaign is part of an attempt at ‘mass mobilisation’ of voters by the group, which believes in jihad.

Jim Fitzpatrick, the Environment Minister, told the Sunday Telegraph the IFE had become a secret party within Labour.

He said: ‘They are acting almost as an entryist organisation, placing people within the political parties, recruiting members to those political parties, trying to get individuals selected and elected so they can exercise political influence and power, whether it’s at local government level or national level.’

Don’t let politicians bully you, Lord Carey warns Christians

Lord Carey - Former Archbishop of CanteburyBy Steve Doughty – 2nd March 2010

Former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey today accused politicians of trying to bully Christianity out of public life.

He complained of a ‘strident and bullying campaign’ to marginalise Christianity in the name of political correctness.

Lord Carey said: ‘We have reached the point where politicians are mocked for merely expressing their faith.

‘I cannot imagine any politician expressing concern that Britain should remain a Christian country. That reticence is a scandal and a disgrace to our history.’

70 million is too many: Immigrant-fuelled population boom will damage society, say leading public figures

By James Slack, Home Affairs Editor – 06th January 2010

Immigration must be urgently curbed to stop the population hitting 70million and causing ‘serious harm’ to society, an alliance of leading public figures demanded yesterday.

The call to action comes in a report signed by a host of respected names, including former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, ex-Labour speaker Betty Boothroyd and former Tory Party chairman Michael Ancram.

The cross-party group wants manifesto commitments from Labour and the Conservatives to cut net migration to fewer than 40,000 a year – compared to the current rate of 163,000.

This is the reduction to net migration – the number of immigrants arriving in the UK, minus those leaving – needed to stop the population reaching 70million within the next two decades.

One World Government is almost here! Lord Monckton of British House of Lords on Youtube video and 2GB radio interview with Allan Jones

Dear family & friends in Christ,

Following are two links with very important information regarding a One World Government soon to be officially recognized by all nations in December of this year 2009!

These very alarming interviews are a MUST watch and listen for all who believe that end-time biblical prophecy is being fulfilled like never before! (Psalm 2, Revelation 13 & 17)

Pastor Daniel very clearly warned before the last political election against voting for a left-wing secular government in America and Australia.  Both nations, and many nations for that matter, are presently  reaping what they have sown, and sooner than most of us thought!  (Galatians 6:7-8) (more…)

You Mustn’t Mention God… Council Bans Church From Putting Up Notices About Its Meetings

Roman Catholic Our Lady of Christians parish church in CamdenBy Daily Mail Reporter on 16th September 2009

A Christian campaign group has been banned from pinning up notices about its meetings in libraries or community centres.

The activists were told their posters advertising talks about climate change could not be shown in public because they mentioned Christianity and God.

Officials declared that the flyers for a talk on ‘climate change is a Christian issue’ and and another by a spokesman for the Christian Ecology Link were in conflict with town hall policy against the promotion of religious ideas. (more…)

Controversial Church Of England Bishop Nazir-Ali Tells Gays To ‘Change And Repent’

By Mail On Sunday Reporter

Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-AliA Church of England bishop urged homosexuals to ‘repent and be changed’, as he joins a coalition of conservative parishes opposed to single-sex unions.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, The Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, said people who stray from traditional Bible teachings ‘do not share the same faith’.

The coalition, which has been labelled a ‘church within a church’, claims to have the support of the Queen. Organisers said she had sent a message to leaders of the movement, saying she understood their concern about the future of the Anglican Communion.

Row: the comments from Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali will be seen as a direct challenge to the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Dr Nazir-Ali spoke after more than half a million people, including the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown, took to the streets of London yesterday to celebrate gay culture at the annual Pride festival. (more…)

Britain Has 85 Sharia Courts: The Astonishing Spread Of The Islamic Justice Behind Closed Doors

Islamic Leaders Rule On DisagreementsBy Steve Doughty

At least 85 Islamic sharia courts are operating in Britain, a study claimed yesterday.

The astonishing figure is 17 times higher than previously accepted.

The tribunals, working mainly from mosques, settle financial and family disputes according to religious principles. They lay down judgments which can be given full legal status if approved in national law courts.

However, they operate behind doors that are closed to independent observers and their decisions are likely to be unfair to women and backed by intimidation, a report by independent think-tank Civitas said.

Commentators on the influence of sharia law often count only the five courts in London, Manchester, Bradford, Birmingham and Nuneaton that are run by the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal, a body whose rulings are enforced through the state courts under the 1996 Arbitration Act.

But the study by academic and Islamic specialist Denis MacEoin estimates there are at least 85 working tribunals. (more…)

Members Of UK Parliament Say They Need The Prayers Of The Christian Community

By Aimee Herd – Inspire Magazine

“Christians are called to serve and lead in politics and government – and prayer is where we need to start. With the Bible, prayer needs to be shaping and guiding our words and actions as we obey the call to disciple the nations for Christ.”

(United Kingdom)—As part of the annual Week of Prayer for Parliament and Whitehall—which has the support of MPs and Peers from each of the major political parties—Inspire Magazine reports that many churches around the UK and across the world will be praying through the nights and even through the entire week.

To facilitate the prayer, a simple prayer resource pack has been produced to help Christians pray effectively for their governmental leaders. According to the report, the resources provide inspiration and opportunity for Christians to get involved and be creative in praying for politics, regardless of political viewpoints. (more…)
