Further to the Religious Vilification Laws re the two Dannys – Blasphemy laws and ‘defamation’ of Islam

Dear family & friends in Christ,

Further to our previous post regarding Bob Carr’s statement on the religious vilification laws re the two Danny’s, please read and act on the following important email from Salt Shakers.

UN – Blasphemy laws and ‘defamation’ of Islam Posted online.

The UN is again considering ‘defamation of religion’ laws. Last year a ‘compromise motion’ on ‘religious tolerance’ – with similar aims – was approved by the UN (source).

We want Australia to oppose – and vote AGAINST – both ‘defamation of religion’ laws and also ‘religious tolerance’ laws.

See the ACTION section below – contact PM Julia Gillard and Foreign Minister Bob Carr.

In Victoria, we are acutely aware of the problems caused by the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act, introduced by the Bracks Labor government in 2001.

The most high-profile case, involving Pastor Daniel Scot and Catch the Fire Ministries, caused huge angst and took five years to ‘resolve’! Religious vilification laws create disharmony and unrest. They are often used to shut down debate and criticism.

Victory for pro-lifers in key freedom of expression case

Published by Christian Concern – September 17th, 2012

A District Judge, sitting at Brighton Magistrates’ Court announced today that all charges were being dismissed against Christian pro-life campaigner Andy Stephenson. The case against his fellow campaigner, Kathryn Sloane, was dismissed on Thursday of last week (13 Sep) during the same trial.

All charges against both campaigners have therefore now been dismissed. District Judge Nicholson’s reasoning in the case is expected at 2pm tomorrow (18 Sep).

Andy and Kathryn were supported by the Christian Legal Centre and were represented in Court by human rights barrister Paul Diamond and Mr Michael Phillips.

Andy and Kathryn, members of the campaign group Abort67, were arrested in June 2011, whilst demonstrating silently in the vicinity of Wistons Clinic, operated by leading abortion provider BPAS, in Brighton. As part of its public education project, the group, which has held peaceful protests outside the establishment for 5 years, displays images of aborted babies but does so silently and without harassment.

Democrats’ Boo-God Moment Puts Black, Latino Faithful in ‘Tough Place’

By Alex Murashko , Christian Post Reporter – September 8, 2012

Political analysts tracking the mood of minority groups such as African Americans and Latinos, especially those within the church community, say the Democrats did themselves no favor when it came to matters of faith during the national convention.

Black and Latino Christians have been put in a difficult position over the DNC platform, according to several stories posted at BCNN1.com, an online site “dedicated to reporting breaking news from a black, Christian perspective for the glory of God.”

The news site, also found online at blackchristiannews.com has pooled news from other media showing that some Christian leaders in minority communities are not too happy with the apparent “progressive shift” to a more secular Democratic Party.

“My message is this could cost us our election,” said Fernando Cabrera, a New York pastor and a city council member from the Bronx. “I see myself as a reformer, and I’m hoping that we can put enough pressure (on the party).

And as you know one of the biggest issues is gay marriage.”

Great move of the Holy Spirit in Newcastle, NSW

Dear family & friends in Christ,
1) On his return from ministering in Newcastle, Pr Daniel said ‘We thank and praise God for those Pastors who are genuinely going after the Holy Spirit. God has certainly preserved a   remnant of church leaders who are willing to still stand strong and trust in the Holy Spirit for revival. These Pastors are often critisized by other fellow brothers in Christ, but even when David’s brothers criticized him, he did not give up. But took the challenge and won the battle, and they all celebrated. So we must also love our brothers who critisize us, no matter what they say, and pray for them’.

God moved mightily at every service and many were powerfully touched as they opened their hearts to the Holy Spirit, and hundreds of people gathered at the meetings. On sunday morning the church was packed, and then following the service was a wedding in the church, in which many people who normally do not go to church, were mightily impacted by the Word and presence of God. Pr Daniel prayed for many people who received a powerful touch from our mighty King Jesus.’

Pr Daniel also spoke about Rise Up Australia Party and challenged the people to stand up for their nation, and keep Australia Australian. The people responded with much excitment and many signed up to join the party membership. Some were also willing to stand as candidates in the Newcastle area in the next federal election.Pr Daniel stated, ” I am so hapy to see the response from the people. Particularly on Sunday morning many who normally do not go to church were at the service and many of them too signed up and took membership. This was very encouraging”.

Mrs. Obama almost makes you forget that her husband supports killing babies … almost

by Alveda King Sep 06, 2012

September 6, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The First Lady of America took the grandstand this week in a rousing speech. As the emails flooded into my cache, with the pros and cons, I wrote back to one sincere young lady: “She looked beautiful and proves that she’s nearly as much a consummate skilled politician as her husband. She almost makes you forget that her husband supports killing babies and destroying natural marriage. Almost…”

In comparison to Mrs. Romney’s sincere and impassioned speech in support of her husband last week, Mrs. Obama’s speech was more glittering and glamorous. She skillfully moved through the controversial issues of abortion and homosexual marriage by drawing comparisons between the two leading candidates without ever mentioning her husband’s opponent’s name during the subtle attack on his candidacy.

Mrs. Obama’s efforts to pit the rich against the poor also fall short of the mark, when we consider that both candidates and their families are not poor people. The President and First Lady are not poor by a long shot. Both candidates also have humble beginnings in their ancestries. Neither the President nor the Governor have ancestors who have been slaves in America by the way.

Julia Gillard cancels speech at Australian Christian Lobby conference over ‘smoking healthier than gay marriage’ slur

Herald Sun by Malcolm Farr- September 06, 2012

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard will boycott the annual conference of a major Christian group because of its “heartless” attitude towards homosexuals.

Ms Gillard was to have given the keynote address to the Australian Christian Lobby next month but today cancelled her appearance.

She accused ACL managing director Jim Wallace of offensive comments Wednesday when he compared gay marriage with the health risks of smoking. Mr Wallace repeated his comments in a statement today.

The Prime Minister has said she opposes gay marriage but today took the significant step of defending those who are agitating for law changes to allow it. In political terms the Prime Minister was ensuring she did not lose the influential gay vote in inner city areas.

“There is a range of deeply held views in the community on the issue of same-sex marriage but it is the responsibility of all parties in this debate to be respectful and responsible in any public comments they make,” the Prime Minister said today in a statement.

New Reality TV series called “Becoming…Christian from Muslim”

By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries –  August 16, 2012

Wow, wow. It’s great!‘ says a former Muslim who is considering the Christian faith.

LOS ANGELES, CA (ANS) — Reality television: can we possibly need more? Yes, according to Joseph Nassrallah, CEO of The Way TV (www.atvsat.com/en). He believes the world needs to know about when a Muslim becomes a Christian.

Nassrallah is confident the new series will make an impact. “Becoming… Christian from Muslim is one of the strongest, most attractive and well prepared preaching series,” he says. “I pray the Lord will use it to attract millions, through satellites, into His blessed fold.”This month The Way TV begins broadcasting a reality series on the discipleship of a previously Muslim new believer.

Traditionally, no Christian from a Muslim background would take the risk of showing their face on television. But in the last decade all that has changed. Former Muslims are becoming bolder in their love for Christ and desire to see other Muslims saved through him. Huda, the series’ new believer is one of them.

“I want to join this program,” says Huda, whose name means enlightened, “because there are a lot of things unknown to people like myself who are from a Muslim background. Before, I didn’t know anything about the Lord Jesus. Through this program I am happy to share the answers to questions that will enlighten others as much as they will enlighten me.”

12 Lessons of Fatherhood

By Thom S. Rainer , Christian Post Guest Columnist – July 6, 2012

I once did an interview for an online publication, and one of the questions was: “Who has been the greatest leadership influence in your life?” Without hesitation, I wrote: “My three sons: Sam, Art, and Jess.”

Fatherhood has been an educational journey that no school could provide. I have learned so much. And even to this day, I listen to my sons. They may think that I am offering them words of wisdom, but I am learning from them as well.

I do not see myself as the great expert on fatherhood. I hope I have been transparent and honest in my self-assessment, especially with the weaknesses and faults that I have.

I also realize that the far superior parent in our family is my wife, Nellie Jo. I have never seen such sacrificial and unconditional love flow from one human to another. She is the true instrument of God who raised our three sons so well.

But this is a post about fatherhood. At the end of the day, I have several lessons that I have learned about the great challenge of being a dad. Thank you for allowing this fellow struggler the opportunity to share these lessons.

Lesson 1: Children Are Precious Gifts From God

If we parents ever fully recognize the incredible gift we have been given in our children, our attitude about them will be one of unceasing praise. I realize that not every couple has been given children. And I realize that I do not deserve my sons any more than husbands and wives who have not been blessed with children. They are gifts of grace. Undeserved and unmerited.

Homosexuality a personal choice, says New Zealand Conservative Party leader

New Zealand Herald ^ posted on Saturday, August 04, 2012 by gareththomasnz

Conservative Party leader Colin Craig has sparked outrage by saying homosexuality is a choice and gay people are more likely to have been abused as children.

The comments on TV3’s The Nation this morning came in a discussion with Labour MP Louisa Wall over her bill to legalise same-sex marriage.

Asked if he thought the bill might encourage homosexuality, Mr Craig replied people chose to be homosexual and factors other than genetics could determine whether someone was gay.

“I think most people recognise that there are other influences such as upbringing, such as events in life,” he said.

“For homosexuals, they are statistically far more likely to have suffered child abuses as a child… It certainly can make a difference in someone’s choices in life, there’s no question about that in my mind.”

What Is a Christian?

By Dan Delzell , Special to Christian Post – August 5, 2012

So what exactly is a Christian? Is it a person who believes certain things? Or maybe a person who does certain things? Or is it perhaps a person who experiences certain things? Yes. Bingo. That is correct….on all counts. All three of those characteristics describe what it means to be a Christian.

You cannot be a Christian without believing in Jesus as your Savior. Secondly, you are not a Christian unless you experience “streams of living water” flowing within you. That is the presence of God inside your body and soul. Without that experience, you are not born again no matter how much window dressing there may be in your outer life of religion and morality. Finally, you are not a Christian if you are not following Jesus. That is the “doing” part.

Your entrance into Christianity begins with belief. At that moment, you also experience the new birth. The streams of living water which enter you at conversion immediately begin to propel you in the direction of serving God, loving God, and loving others.

Jesus said, “If a man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” (John 7:37,38) That is the wellspring of God….and it flows within every Christian….within each person who has been converted, that is, born again.

Islam’s Universal Economic Failure

Posted by Daniel Greenfield Bio ? on Aug 1st, 2012

If Romney accomplished nothing else during his Israeli visit, he did manage to offend every single Palestinian Arab terrorist group, all of whom, the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP and the DFLP, issued press releases denouncing him. American media outlets have been denouncing him for saying that the GDP Per Capita differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority represent a contrast in values.

The official media narrative is that these differences are the results of oppression, checkpoints and blockades. But then why does the IMF put Israel’s GDP Per Capita well ahead of the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has no Israeli checkpoints, no Israeli soldiers or planes flying overhead. It has wealth literally pouring out of the ground with a fifth of the world’s petroleum reserves. And yet the IMF puts it 13 places behind Israel and the World Bank puts it 8 places behind Israel. The only Muslim countries with a better GDP Per Capita than Israel are small monarchies drowning in oil.

The non-oil Muslim countries who are closest to Israel are Malaysia and Lebanon, 32 and 33 places behind Israel. Both countries also have sizable non-Muslim populations. Muslims make up only 50 percent of Lebanon and only 60 percent of Malaysia. No Muslim country without oil has a better GDP Per Capita than a Muslim country with sizable Christian or Buddhist minorities.
