Most people wouldn’t think to look to Congress for spiritual insight, but recently one member of the U.S. House served to remind us of the price many Christians pay for their faith in Jesus Christ.

On July 30, Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., spoke from the House floor to pay tribute to Christian martyr Watchman Nee of China. Rep. Smith noted that Nee is known around the world for his Christian witness and his books are still banned in China today. He was imprisoned for his faith in 1952 and died 20 years later in a labor camp.

In his speech, Rep. Smith stated, “… it is estimated that China has more than 100 million Christians, and millions of them consider themselves spiritual heirs of Watchman Nee. Millions more are rightly proud of the contribution Watchman Nee made to global Christianity – he was the first Chinese Christian to exercise an influence on Western Christians – and indeed of his contribution to world spiritual culture. It is sad that the works of Watchman Nee are officially banned in China – even as they are being discovered afresh by a new generation of Western Christians. It is my hope that Watchman Nee’s collected works can be freely published and distributed within China.”

A Christian couple have been charged with a criminal offence after taking part in what they regarded as a reasonable discussion about religion with guests at their hotel.

Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang were arrested after a Muslim woman complained to police that she had been offended by their comments.

They have been charged under public order laws with using ‘threatening, abusive or insulting words’ that were ‘religiously aggravated’.

What I Learned From The Fathers

Our spiritual fathers have much to offer us from their years of walking with God. Here’s what I learned recently from Jack Hayford, John Perkins, Lloyd Ogilvie, Loren Cunningham, Henry Blackaby and Winkie Pratney.

In the days of the early church, the apostle Paul stressed the importance to believers of having a leader, or “father,” they could learn from. He wrote to the Corinthians: “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.” (1 Cor. 4:15-16, NKJV).

It is no different today. Those who are young in the faith need leaders to imitate, and those who are more mature must seek to live worthy of imitation, to be leaders who understand the responsibility and foundation of healthy church leadership. (more…)

It is reported that Martin Luther once said something along the lines of, ‘Do not worry about what either people or the media says, both good and bad publicity is always good for the cause.’ 
 
Over the last few days, you have possibly read newspaper articles on many major media outlets across Australia regarding Pas Daniel winning the annual top gong at Ernie Awards for sexist comment of the year. Of course it’s not a surprise that when you stand for Jesus, His kingdom, righteousness, justice and truth, you be increasingly attacked by Satan and his cohorts. However, how you handle it is what’s most important. 

When Pas Daniel heard about the award on Thursday 1st October, he cracked up laughing in the office and shouted, “Glory to God, more publicity for the Kingdom of God. When God starts to move, He is setting the stage for His prophetic word of Healing, Deliverance and Salvation to spread like wild fire through these same media outlets. God is up to something very big, so I am very, very excited. Bring it on mate!!!”

What a mighty God we serve! All glory and honour belongs to Jesus our soon coming King of kings and Lord of lords!

On the weekend of 19th & 20th September, I ministered on the Gold Coast in an AOG church led by Pastors Philip & Christine Whiting. On Saturday night Pas Phil introduced me to a lady by the name of Diana who wanted prayer for healing of cancer. I was told that 8 years ago she was diagnosed with cancer, having the affected part removed, but it had now returned to the other side of her chest.

Diana told me that many of her family members had died from cancer over the past 35 years. When the alter call was given she came up for prayer.  I started praying from one end of the line as she was standing at the other end.  Suddenly I heard a big noise, and when I turned Diana had fallen flat on the ground under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. There was no one standing behind her to catch her as no one was praying for her. Thank the Lord she was not hurt when she fell under the power of God!

About 20 minutes later I came up to her to pray and commanded the demonic spirit of cancer to leave in the name of Jesus!  She started manifesting, swinging her head from left to right as the demon refused to leave. Just then the Spirit of God prompted me to tell her, “you need to forgive those who have hurt you and get rid of any offence and bitterness in your heart.”  Diana was weeping and asked forgiveness from the Lord for those who had hurt her.  Just then she fell back on the ground and was delivered from the demonic spirit of cancer as the power of God set her free! What a mighty God we serve in Australia, in this Great South Land of the Holy Spirit, and across the nations of the world!

This past weekend’s Nation Shaking Prayer Seminar in Melbourne (Hallam), with Pastor Julius Suubi from Kenya, was supercharged with a powerful anointing of the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ! Many God seeking Christians from many churches, denominations, and ethnicities received a great impartation of the apostolic prayer anointing to fervently intercede for our nation of Australia as never before.  Some said, “The seminar has completely changed our lifestyle as we certainly feel we have caught the fire and the burden of the Lord to pray for our nation, not just our own needs.”

On Sunday night the manifest presence of God was so awesome that the meeting which started at 6.30pm ended just after midnight! It was so exciting to see people at 12 midnight on the floor soaking in more of the Lord’s presence. Ps Daniel stated,  “I am so amazed to see people willing to be in the presence of God for 6 hours. You normally see this in Africa, but not in the West, nor in Australia. This tells me that there is a remnant in the body of Christ of Kingdom of God minded people who are not after the hype, nor user friendly seeker friendly stuff. They only want Jesus.”

It is critical that the Church in America understands the times and what needs to be done now. The natural things speak of the invisible. Natural happenings on the earth are revealing something that is going on in the spiritual realm. There is a great spiritual conflict with a rising tide of Islamic boldness being manifested. Several happenings are converging this week.

First of all, our President has recently proclaimed, honored, encouraged the Muslim holy days of prayer and fasting called Ramadan. He was very silent on the National Day of Prayer, but very vocal on the support of Ramadan. Interestingly, at the same time, a major Christian leader of the Emergent Church called for forty days of fasting and prayer in the same Ramadan period with the goal that the Church will better understand our Muslim friends. We are all for understanding, but we must have spiritual discernment as to the spiritual dark powers that are being invoked into our nation.

Cause for Concern

At the same time, on the 25th of September, Muslims are calling for a Muslim Day of Prayer in Washington DC: (http://www.islamoncapitolhill.com/). They are calling for 50,000 Muslims to gather and pray on the DC Mall. This is the exact word of one of the Sheikhs who is leading this historic gathering: “Muslims should march on the White House. We are going to the White House so that Islam will be victorious, Allah willing, and the White House will become into a Muslim house.” These are not empty words. They speak of a dark spiritual intent and a coming day of great trouble to America.

Official Police Bible Given Thumbs Up By Commissioner

Commissioner And Police Officers Welcome Bible In NTChristianity Today Australia – Thursday, 20 August 2009

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione has welcomed the release of a new Police Bible, created especially for the State‘s serving police officers.

Commissioner Scipione met with Bible Society CEO Daniel Willis and Police Chaplains at Police Headquarters to receive his copy.

The Police Bible is compact, with a Police-blue, leather-look cover and Police Crest on the front. It contains the New and Old Testaments, as well as information on Police ethics, service, integrity and leadership. It also includes the police prayer, and photos of officers in the field.

It’s thought that eventually, the bulk of the State’s 20,000 officers will have a Police Bible in their possession.
