Empowering jihad: The deadly myth of a ‘root cause’

Reports that “Jihadi John,” the British-accented narrator of ISIS snuff videos, is Mohammed Emwazi — an educated young man from a middle-class background — ought to put the final stake in the pretense that poverty and a lack of education and opportunity fuel Islamist hate.

This mistaken idea seems to be Obama administration policy. Marie Harf, the US Department of State deputy spokesperson, recently said:

“We cannot win this war by killing [jihadists]. We need to go after the root causes that lead people to join these groups, whether it is lack of opportunity for jobs. . . We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people.”

Of course, the news about “Jihadi John” is only the latest evidence to the contrary. These terrorists are often well-educated and even wealthy. Osama bin Laden certainly was.

Many Islamist terrorists are physicians: Maj. Nidal Hasan (the Fort Hood shooter) and al Qaeda’s current leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

“Lady Al Qaeda” Aafia Siddiqui (the terrorist whom ISIS wanted to trade for James Foley, then for Steven Sotloff) was a scientist.

Hindu nationalist denounces Mother Teresa for ‘ulterior motives’

By Dean Nelson, New Delhi – 24 Feb 2015

One of India’s most senior Hindu nationalist leaders was accused of stoking religious tensions after he denounced Mother Teresa and claimed her charitable works for the poor were aimed at converting them to Christianity.

Mohan Bhagwat, leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Hindu nationalist group which nurtured India’s prime minister Narendra Modi as a young man, said Mother Teresa’s service for the poor “would have been good” but was done with an ulterior motive.

“It used to have one objective, to convert the person who was being served into a Christian … if this is done in the name of service, then that service gets devalued”, he said.

His comments were made amid growing concern over attacks on churches in India and a continuing campaign by Hindu nationalists to pressurise those who have converted to Christianity, Buddhism and Islam to “come home” to their previous Hindu faith. Many of those who have converted are poor “untouchables” who are persecuted in Hinduism’s caste system.

Narendra Modi tried to calm the tensions earlier this month when he condemned religious violence and emphasised India’s traditional tolerance.

Following is a media release we received from Reclaim Australia administration. The National President Daniel Nalliah of Rise Up Australia Party will be the keynote speaker in Melbourne at Federation Square at 1pm this Sat the 4th of April 2015.

It has been brought to our attention that people claiming to be representing Reclaim Australia Rallies have been making unauthorised statements on various media outlets and in some cases have made statements of which do not represent the consensus of Reclaim Australia Rallies at all.

We have an official spokesperson for the Rallies. For any future contact we ask the Media to speak first to our Media Liason Officer.

Media Liaison Officer: Catherine Brennan ReclaimAustraliaRallies@gmail.com

ABOUT THE RALLIES

Reclaim Australia Rallies are the result of a “grassroots movement” that has been organised into a nationwide rally being held in 14 capital cities, major cities and townships and rural areas on April 4th.

The rallies are being independently organized by blue collar workers, white collar workers, mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers— people from all walks of life concerned with a certain issue that they want heard and addressed by government.

We are not a racist hate group affiliated with any other group, nor neo-Nazi or white supremacist. In fact it is the opposite. We are simply patriotic and love our country, our nation and the law that supports our values and our lifestyle. We just want our successful Australian way of life retained—that is not “racist”, that is just plain sensible!

For the first time in our recent history Australians have now been exposed to hostage sieges, attacks on our police and service people, foiled beheading and bombing attempts, here on our own soil. As a result Military and service uniforms may no longer be worn off duty in public because of security issues linked to only ONE group—the so called “radicals of Islam”.

According to the Jewish calendar this Friday night 3 April is the eve of Passover which continues through till Saturday 11 April.

On Saturday night 4 April there will be a blood moon eclipse visible in Australia.

3) This year 2015 is one of those unique years when the man-made timing of Easter coincides with the God-ordained timing of Passover.

We’re posting the following article ‘Criminal on the Cross’ from Billy Graham’s Grandson regarding the true meaning of Easter.

By Will Graham, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

The cross means different things to different people. For some it’s just a pretty piece of jewellery. To others it’s a decoration for their home. To Christians it is a symbol of the sacrificial love of Christ and His conquering of the grave.

However, to criminals under Roman rule in the first century, and those who witnessed the punishment, the cross was a symbol of torture, cruelty, death and humiliation.

As we enter the Easter season, we can learn from a man on a cross. This individual’s name is only known to God. We find this man – a criminal sentenced to death – hanging beside Jesus in Luke 23:39-43.

UK now arresting jihad terror suspects every day; police call for extra funding to cope with Islamic State threat

UK now arresting jihad terror suspects every day; police call for extra funding to cope with Islamic State threatFebruary 9, 2015 – by Robert Spencer

As the situation inexorably spirals out of control in Britain, British officials still appear resolutely determined not to investigate the question of why this view of Islam that they think is a drastic misunderstanding of the Religion of Peace has grown so widespread.

“Terror suspects arrested every day in UK as police call for extra funding to cope with Isil threat,” by Tom Whitehead, the Telegraph, February 8, 2015 (thanks to Block Ness):

Police are now arresting a suspected terrorist every day with ministers poised to boost funding amid fears of attacks from Isil “misfits and criminals”.

Metropolitan assistant commissioner Mark Rowley revealed fanatics were being detained on a daily basis following a sharp rise in arrests because of the growing threat from Islamist jihadists.

Mr Rowley, the country’s most senior counter-terrorism officer, said he had been lobbying Government for additional funding to tackle the threat and there were “indications” that would happen.

Former Terrorists Helping Wycliffe Associates With Bible Translation

OneNewsNow.com – Chris Woodward

Bible translation is underway in areas hostile to Christianity and Westerners, but the real story may be the people doing the translation work.

Bruce Smith, president and CEO of Wycliffe Associates, tells OneNewsNow about Scriptures for New Frontiers.

“In this particular case, we’re talking about translation in the Middle East and other hostile areas to Christianity,” he explains. “Actually there are some incredibly exciting things happening, where first-generation believers are really risking their lives to bring God’s Word to their own language groups and communities and have reached out to us to help them in that process.”

Smith goes on to share that some of the people in the national translation teams are former members of well-known terrorist organizations, whose objectives were to expose and eliminate Christians.

“Paul’s testimony is one that’s actually quite similar to many of the testimonies of the guys that are now doing Bible translation,” the CEO compares. “So what was possible and even miraculous back in the first century is still happening today.”

England’s Bewildering Identity Crisis

Jewish World Review – by Suzanne Fields – Feb. 13, 2015

LONDON — England is having an identity crisis — Scotland is just getting over one — and just in time to hover over national elections.

Gone is the spirit of the poet who described “this earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,” so beloved in Shakespeare’s Richard II. There’s not even a smidgen of Churchillian rhetoric to inspire the British to fight the good fight in the Middle East, where they were so firmly established for so long. Too bad there’s no English word for the French ennui.

Under the headline Decline and Fall, the Times of London bemoans that “Britain is punching appreciably below its weight as a medium-sized power in world affairs.” There’s considerable to worry about. Vladimir Putin’s aggression in Ukraine is a needed if dreary reminder of the damage done in the mid-20th century by an ambitious tyrant with a funny mustache.

The London Telegraph speaks a similar sentiment, noting the irony of a meeting of Western officials, to talk about arming Ukraine, in Munich, the very symbol of European appeasement. In 1938 the German-speaking Sudetenland was taken from Czechoslovakia and handed over to Hitler to avoid further conflict. We know how that turned out. Now the Russian-speaking separatists of Eastern Ukraine may be dispatched to the embrace of the bear to appease Vladimir Putin. What message does this send to a Machiavellian leader like Mr. Putin? With Britain on the sideline, the United States, still Britain’s most important ally, continues to lead from behind, with Barack Obama wandering somewhere on the back nine.

Muslim leaders must take a stand

Herald Sun (Melbourne) ^ | 12th February 2015 | Andrew Bolt

TWO more Muslim men were arrested in Sydney yesterday for — police alleged — plotting to kill civilians.

But why have none of the many men arrested so far for alleged terror attacks here planned to kill moderate Muslim clerics?

Australian historian Christopher Clark, in his widely admired Sleepwalkers, points out “one abiding strand in the logic of terrorist movements, namely that reformers and moderates are more to be feared than outright enemies and hardliners”.

Terrorists hate compromisers. Islamists murdered Egyptian president Anwar Sadat for making peace with Israel.

But which Muslim clerics are in danger of being too moderate?

The only threats I’ve heard of were those reportedly sent to a Sydney doctor, Jamal Rifi, who is indeed a brave peacemaker, but no cleric.

The fact, I fear, is that there aren’t Muslim religious leaders here truly trying to reform Islam or issue fatwas damning the likes of Islamic State to hell.

Christians Flee to Pakistan Ghetto as Blasphemy Allegations Rise Against Minorities

February 11, 2015 – The Associated Press – Muhammed Muheisen

This slum on the outskirts of Pakistan’s capital looks like many others ringing it, with dirt roads and cement-block homes, until a passer-by sees a simple black banner bearing a Bible verse about Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

The Christian Colony on the edge of Islamabad is home to many Christians who once lived elsewhere in the capital, but fled in fear after a string of blasphemy allegations and killings. In this country of 180 million people, where Islam is the state religion and 95 percent of people are Muslims, Christians represent just a sliver of the population.

Most face daily discrimination and eke out a living by holding low-paying jobs, like street sweeping. However, they’ve carved out their own lives in a country that faces near-daily attacks by Islamic extremists.

“I wish to save my people by providing them faith and some education,” said Pastor Orangzaib Maseeh, who teaches locals how to read at his simple, open-air church. “I want them to have a life of a normal person. They used to have one.”

MEF Research and Writing How Best to Fight the ‘Islamophobia Industry’

by Burak Bekdil – Hürriyet Daily News –February 4, 2015

Time flies… It was nearly a decade ago that Turkish and Spanish leaders institutionalized their efforts to build interfaith dialogue and peace between the Islamic and Western worlds. Since then, at least a couple of million (overwhelmingly Muslim) people have been killed (overwhelmingly by Muslims in sectarian and other wars). Keeping a count of terrorist attacks on Muslim and non-Muslim targets by jihadists of this or that holy fraction would require meticulous academic work.

Today, few recall or talk about the initiative that went with the fancy name, “Alliance of Civilizations.” The world instead debates grimmer topics that do not speak of alliances, but rather of mis-alliances.

For all the things that have gone wrong, Turkey’s top cleric, Professor Mehmet Görmez, blames the “Islamophobia industry.” In the words of Professor Görmez, it is Islamophobia that “is trying to spread fear to hearts by using clashes and incidents in the Islamic world for cruel propaganda against Muslims.”

Mr. Görmez’s own Alliance of Civilizations initiative has a longer name: The Peace and Moderation Contact Group. A “letter of goodwill” prepared by Islamic scholars will soon be shared with heads of states and religious leaders. President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu were the first (lucky) people to receive the “letter of goodwill.”
