Is Our Nation Intolerant of Christianity?

Charisma News – 6/3/2013 – Franklin Graham

Recently I was at a White House meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and had the opportunity to remind him that our main problem in America is that we have taken God out of our society and out of our government. We need God’s Word and His laws now more than ever.

Disobedience to God’s Word and His laws has wreaked havoc across the political, economic, and spiritual landscape of our country. There is scandal after scandal, and yet our nation’s leaders seem even more belligerent toward Christians.

If we hold up God’s standards, we are accused of being intolerant. “Tolerance” is one of today’s hot buttons, but in reality the true and fast-growing “intolerance” is for Christianity—anything that stands for Jesus Christ.

You may have read recently about the IRS apology for targeting conservative groups in 2011–12. I was not surprised to hear this—BGEA was audited last September, and many believe it was because we encouraged voters to take a strong stand on same-sex marriage issues and biblical values. The audit process was complex and time consuming, but as we expected, it ended well. During the process, in fact, the focus that BGEA puts on sound management and financial accountability was acknowledged as excellent.

World Council of Churches attacks Israel to no gain

Dexter Van Zile – 3 June 2013

No matter how much the World Council of Churches dumps on Israel, Christians living in the Middle East are still being attacked.

Late last month, 150 Christian leaders met in Lebanon under the auspices of the World Council of Churches(WCC) to talk about the status of Christians living in the Middle East, where, as most people know, followers of Christ are suffering from terrible acts of oppression at the hands of Muslim extremists.

Some Muslims, particularly in Egypt, have stood in solidarity with their Christian compatriots after these attacks, but for the most part, attacks against Christians continue without much organized opposition from Muslim activists or governments in the Middle East. Egyptian police, for example, have stood by and even assisted in attacks against Christians and their churches.

Sometimes the anti-Christian violence manifests itself as poorly organized (but terrifying) mob attacks against churches and their members. These mob attacks often take place after an imam has incited anti-Christian hostility in his Friday sermon. Other attacks are well-planned jihad bombings perpetrated on Christian holidays (such as Christmas or Easter) that result in deaths of dozens of Christians at once.

Such attacks have a cumulative impact. Archbishop Silvano M. Tomasi, the Vatican’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations, recently announced that more than 100,000 Christians are killed as a result of their faith each year. Tomasi didn’t mention exactly who was responsible for these deaths, but he didn’t have to.

We know who is responsible – radical Muslims intent on sending a very clear and simple message that Christians are not welcome or safe in Muslim countries.

Muslim violence against Christians is not a new phenomenon. It dates back to Islam’s founding according to Raymond Ibrahim, author of Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians (Regnery, 2013). “Under Muslim rule, from the seventh century to the present, tens if not hundreds of thousands of churches once spread across thousands of miles of formerly Christian lands have been attacked, plundered, ransacked, and destroyed or converted into mosques,” he writes.

On this first weekend in August, Catch the Fire Ministries celebrates 13 years of prayer across Australia, under the banner of ‘Rise Up Australia’ according to Prayer and Repentance.

Pastor Daniel states ‘13’ is a very significant number after 13 rounds of marching around Jericho the walls collapsed.

We believe the walls of opposition that have been holding back the move of the Holy Spirit will collapse this year and we will see Australia turn back to Jesus in the next 7 years with a mandate to possess the land and government.

Ana’s coming to Australia at this time is a strategic time in the Lord’s prophetic calendar for Australia, so close to the elections and at the beginning of the 40 day prayer and fasting of the Australian Prayer Network for the elections to prayerfully bring in a Godly Government.

Premature newborn was pronounced dead: but then doctors gave him to his mother to hold

by Lauren Enriquez  – May 31, 2013

Jamie’s parents Kate and David Ogg embrace their newborn, pronounced dead by his physician shortly before.

Kate Ogg, Jamie’s mother, smiles as she cradles her live baby after bringing him back to life with skin-to-skin contact and plenty of maternal affection.

May 31, 2013 (LiveActionNews.org) – A premature newborn in Australia, born along with his twin sister at just 27 weeks’ gestation and weighing in at only two pounds, was pronounced dead by his physician after medical staff tried for twenty minutes to revive him. Jamie Ogg, now a little over three years old, is alive today only because of the undying love and affection of his mother.

According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, when Jamie was pronounced dead, the doctor handed him to his mother, Kate, so that she could say goodbye to her son. Kate took Jamie into her arms and tearfully caressed her tiny son.

She and her husband spoke to him, telling him what his name was, and that he had a sister. She told him the things that she had wanted to do with him throughout his life. Kate held Jamie on her chest, skin-to-skin, and occasionally he would gasp – a reflex the doctor said was normal after death.

Preachers must set an agenda for biblical confrontation over homosexuality

by Albert Mohler – May 30, 2013

The church’s engagement with the culture involves a host of issues, controversies, and decisions–but no issue defines our current cultural crisis as clearly as homosexuality. Some churches and denominations have capitulated to the demands of the homosexual rights movement, and now accept homosexuality as a fully valid lifestyle.

Other denominations are tottering on the brink, and without a massive conservative resistance, they are almost certain to abandon biblical truth and bless what the Bible condemns. Within a few short years, a major dividing line has become evident–with those churches endorsing homosexuality on one side, and those stubbornly resisting the cultural tide on the other.

The homosexual rights movement understands that the evangelical church is one of the last resistance movements committed to a biblical morality. Because of this, the movement has adopted a strategy of isolating Christian opposition, and forcing change by political action and cultural pressure.

Can we count on evangelicals to remain steadfastly biblical on this issue? Not hardly. Scientific surveys and informal observation reveal that we have experienced a significant loss of conviction among youth and young adults. No moral revolution can succeed without shaping and changing the minds of young people and children.

Inevitably, the schools have become crucial battlegrounds for the culture war. The Christian worldview has been undermined by pervasive curricula that teach moral relativism, reduce moral commandments to personal values, and promote homosexuality as a legitimate and attractive lifestyle option.

RUAP Campaign Meetings in Bendigo, Cranbourne & Hampton, Vic / Channel 9 Win TV & Bendigo Advertiser

Dear friends,

Yet, another great weekend of campaigning across Victoria.

The National President and Lead Senate Candidate for Victoria, Daniel Nalliah of RUAP, spoke at three different meetings in Bendigo, while the #2 Senate Candidate for Victoria, Rosalie Crestani, spoke at a meeting in Cranbourne and the Victorian State President Yvonne Gentle spoke at another meeting in Hampton Victoria.

There was great excitement at the meetings and many who came pledged support to the Party, with more people taking membership.

At the Saturday night meeting in Bendigo, Channel 9 sent their cameraman to cover the whole campaign meeting. The Bendigo Advertiser was also there to cover the meeting.

After the meeting, the Channel 9 Cameraman interestingly stated, “Now you have another vote,” meaning that he was so challenged that he had decided to vote for RUAP.  Isn’t that great!

Daniel Nalliah stated, “We have a great product in Rise Up Australia Party with a fantastic brand name and a great consumer demand. The challenge we face is to get our product out into every Aussie home before the election, so that they can hear about us and vote for us.  Literally,  9 out of 10 people who hear about our Party have stated with great excitement that they will vote for us.”

Why are school children not being taught about the involvement of Muslims in the slave trade?

Protect the Pope ^ | 5/30/2013 | Deacon Nick Donnelly

The Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Al, the Church of England Bishop Emeritus of Rochester, has exposed the latest example of  PC revisionism that seeks to whitewash the history of Islam, in this case school children are not being taught of the involvement of Muslims in the slave trade, with blame solely being placed at the door of the British and Americans.

‘Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Al claims that, in addition to ignoring the current persecution of Christians in the Islamic world, secular Britain brushes aside historical evidence of Muslim aggression.

“If you ignore what really happened to give a lopsided view of history in the interests of political correctness, you can’t blame [young] people if they move to something else that has a less critical view of itself,” he says. Christianity appears so apologetic that students naturally gravitate towards self-confident Islam. Meanwhile, “the Churches’ engagement with the secular world becomes capitulation to it”.

As an example of political correctness in schools, the bishop discusses the way black pupils are taught about slavery.

He says: “If you teach black people from African or the Caribbean that slavery was perpetrated on them [only] by England and the whites in the United States, they are then given a narrative that Islam is the great liberator from slavery – without mentioning that the Arab slave traders were on the east coast of Africa and West Africa before the British and the Americans.

Lee Grady: No More Spineless Christianity

Charisma News –  5/29/2013 Lee Grady

Paul was also not afraid to name sins. He had a spine.

People often complain about angry preachers. I don’t like them either, and I agree that if a person mixes a sermon with hateful language (or if he believes God has called him to picket other churches), he’s in the wrong profession. Yet today we’ve jumped to the opposite extreme. Now we are afraid to confront sin.

We can’t preach about materialism because we might offend rich people in the audience—as well as the poor people who buy Lotto tickets every week. We can’t preach about fornication because there are people in the church who are living together. We can’t preach about domestic violence because there are deacons who sometimes hit their wives. We can’t preach about homosexuality because our culture says it’s hateful to call that a sin.

And the list goes on. In fact, some preachers are avoiding the word sin altogether because it’s too negative. And we all know that the latest polls show people want a positive message.

This temptation to dilute the gospel has produced a new recipe for a trendy sermon. We start with some great motivational speaking (“Your past does not define your future!”), add a few quarts of cheap grace (“Don’t focus on your sin!”), pour in some prosperity gospel (“Run to this altar and grab your financial breakthrough!”), flavor it with some trendy pop psychology (“It’s all about you!”) and voila!—you end up with a goopy mess of pabulum that not even a baby Christian could survive on.

The ‘Muslims-Killed-by-the-West’ Lie

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com|– By Dennis Prager – 29th May 2013

The alleged butcher of the off-duty British soldier, Drummer Lee Rigby, defended his carving up of a living human being by claiming that he was engaging in “an eye for an eye” because the British army is killing Muslims in Afghanistan.

Normally there is no reason to respond to the justifications offered by terrorists and other murderers of the innocent. But in this case it is important to do so because much of the Muslim world resonates to this argument and because much of the world’s left offers this argument.

This is true even though a large majority of Muslims do not support terror and even though leftists do not support it. Nevertheless, throughout the Muslim and leftist worlds it is believed — and our children are taught this at college — that America, the UK. and other countries are targeted by Muslims because we kill Muslims.

The argument is morally perverse and a lie.

First, the U.K. and others are in Afghanistan in order to defend Muslims. Brits and other Westerners are risking their lives, and dying, in that country on behalf of Muslims.

Korean pastor fighting epidemic of abandoned babies with anonymous ‘Baby Box’

Life Site ^ | Natalie N. Brumfield – Posted on Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Lee Jong-rak is a Korean pastor in South Korea. A simple man with a huge purpose, Pastor Jong-rak saw a devastating problem. He thought of a way he could change it, and he became a prophetic voice to his society. His story is a story of faith. A story of hope. A story of love. And when you hear this heroic tale, you just may never be the same.

Lee Jong-rak is the creator of the Baby Box. His Baby Box is the first and only box in Korea that is for collecting abandoned babies who are physically or mentally handicapped or are just unwanted by their mothers.

Hundreds of unwanted babies are abandoned on the side of the street in South Korea every year. Jong-rak knew he needed to set up a way to save the lives of these precious babies. He built a drop box on the side of his home with a humble sign reading, “Place to leave babies.”

The inside of the box contains a thick towel covering the bottom, and lights and heating to keep the baby comfortable. A bell rings when someone puts a baby in the box, then Jong-rak, his wife, or staff associates come to immediately move the baby inside. His aim was to provide a life-giving alternative for desperate mothers in his city of Seoul. He even admits that he didn’t really expect that babies would come in– He was mistaken. The babies came. In the middle of the night, in the middle of the day, some with notes, some without a word, and only a very few mothers actually spoke to him face-to-face.

Pastor Jong-rak stated that one of the mothers said she “had poison to kill both herself and her baby.” He responded, “Don’t do that. Come here with your baby.” One single mother left this heart-wrenching note with her baby. The english translation follows.

“My baby! Mom is so sorry. I am so sorry to make this decision. My son! I hope you to meet great parents, and I am very, very sorry . I don’t deserve to say a word. Sorry, sorry, and I love you my son. Mom loves you more than anything else. I leave you here because I don’t know who your father is. I used to think about something bad, but I guess this box is safer for you. That’s why I decided to leave you here. My son, Please forgive me.”

Nearly 1,000 people join 15th annual Rally for Life in Perth, Australia

by Andrew Smith, LifeSiteNews Australian correspondent May 29, 2013

Upwards of 900 people attended Western Australia capital city Perth’s annual Rally For Life this week, meeting on an adjoining lawn before rallying at the steps of parliament house.

The rally is organised by Coalition for Defence of Human Life and has been held every year since the legalisation of abortion in Western Australia in 1998.  This was the 15th anniversary rally.

This year the event started with an adult reading a scripture passage for each year since abortion was legalised in Western Australia, accompanied by a child who was born in that year.  At least one of these children was saved from being possibly aborted, having been helped by a crisis pregnancy centre in Perth.

Rally organiser Richard Egan said that at the rally they collected 590 signatures urging the Western Austrlia parliament “to inquire in to the fourteen reported cases of babies born alive following an abortion procedure – none of whom were resuscitated or given any medical treatment.”

The impact of Islamic Sharia Courts in Britain

Salt Shakers – E- News 18th July 2013

In the UK, Islamic ‘Sharia Councils’ or courts have been established – under legislation which provided for the establishment of Arbitration Tribunals. There are now 85 such sharia courts around the UK which make rulings according to Islamic law.

A BBC documentary, presented by reporter Jane Corbin, recently exposed what happens in some of these Sharia Councils.
Link to the video is below.

Many people have expressed concern about the use of these Sharia Courts – they deal with a range of issues such as marital disputes, domestic violence, divorce and othermatters.
Since the Sharia Councils operate in accordance with Islamic law, the rulings are sometimes not in accordance with British law and they often disadvantage women. They sometimes deal with areas, such as child custody, which are supposed to be dealt with by the regular court system. Those subjected to the rulings often feel they have to obey them, even though they are not legally binding.

There should be ONE law for ALL – not a separatesystem operating on Islamic law. We need to learn from the British experience – and reject any introduction of ‘sharia law’ courts or rulings in Australia.

Baroness Cox, a member of the House of Lords, introduced the Arbitration and Mediation Services (Equality) Bill legislation into the House of Lords in October 2012. The Bill is aimed at curbing the growth of parallel legal systems in the UK. The Bill would limit the power of the Sharia Courts and ensure they operate in accordance with British law, especially in areas such as polygamy, divorce and discrimination against women (source).
