Democrats’ Boo-God Moment Puts Black, Latino Faithful in ‘Tough Place’

By Alex Murashko , Christian Post Reporter – September 8, 2012

Political analysts tracking the mood of minority groups such as African Americans and Latinos, especially those within the church community, say the Democrats did themselves no favor when it came to matters of faith during the national convention.

Black and Latino Christians have been put in a difficult position over the DNC platform, according to several stories posted at BCNN1.com, an online site “dedicated to reporting breaking news from a black, Christian perspective for the glory of God.”

The news site, also found online at blackchristiannews.com has pooled news from other media showing that some Christian leaders in minority communities are not too happy with the apparent “progressive shift” to a more secular Democratic Party.

“My message is this could cost us our election,” said Fernando Cabrera, a New York pastor and a city council member from the Bronx. “I see myself as a reformer, and I’m hoping that we can put enough pressure (on the party).

And as you know one of the biggest issues is gay marriage.”

Rise Up Australia Party Media Release: Julia Gillard sides with Coalition against gay marriage vote

General Immediate Media Release  – 21 September 2012 (14:00hrs)

Julia Gillard sides with Coalition against gay marriage vote

“I congratulate Prime Minister Gillard, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott, Liberal  and National Party Members of the House of Representatives and a majority of Labor Party Representatives who overwhelmingly voted down a second bill to allow gay marriage,” said the National President, Daniel Nalliah of Rise Up Australia Party this morning from his office in Melbourne.

Rise Up Australia Party is a multi-ethnic party that is totally opposed to multiculturalism.  Multiculturalism causes immigrants to build ethnic enclaves and defeats the very purpose it was created to protect. Instead of uniting communities, multiculturalism divides a nation into ethnic groupings. This is counterproductive to a harmonious democratic society.

Mr. Nalliah was responding to comments in Wednesday’s Australian, “ In a rare sight, the Prime Minister and several of her frontbenchers, including Treasurer Wayne Swan and Environment Minister Tony Burke, moved across to the Coalition benches, facing almost 40 of their Labor party colleagues as the vote was counted … The vote in the lower house came as debate continued in the Senate on a parallel bill for gay marriage put forward by four Labor senators.”

Rise Up Australia Party is committed to marriage as the union of a man and woman, and the promotion of marriage as an institution that provides the best nurturing environment for children and that has substantial economic benefits for society.

Julia Gillard cancels speech at Australian Christian Lobby conference over ‘smoking healthier than gay marriage’ slur

Herald Sun by Malcolm Farr- September 06, 2012

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard will boycott the annual conference of a major Christian group because of its “heartless” attitude towards homosexuals.

Ms Gillard was to have given the keynote address to the Australian Christian Lobby next month but today cancelled her appearance.

She accused ACL managing director Jim Wallace of offensive comments Wednesday when he compared gay marriage with the health risks of smoking. Mr Wallace repeated his comments in a statement today.

The Prime Minister has said she opposes gay marriage but today took the significant step of defending those who are agitating for law changes to allow it. In political terms the Prime Minister was ensuring she did not lose the influential gay vote in inner city areas.

“There is a range of deeply held views in the community on the issue of same-sex marriage but it is the responsibility of all parties in this debate to be respectful and responsible in any public comments they make,” the Prime Minister said today in a statement.

12 Lessons of Fatherhood

By Thom S. Rainer , Christian Post Guest Columnist – July 6, 2012

I once did an interview for an online publication, and one of the questions was: “Who has been the greatest leadership influence in your life?” Without hesitation, I wrote: “My three sons: Sam, Art, and Jess.”

Fatherhood has been an educational journey that no school could provide. I have learned so much. And even to this day, I listen to my sons. They may think that I am offering them words of wisdom, but I am learning from them as well.

I do not see myself as the great expert on fatherhood. I hope I have been transparent and honest in my self-assessment, especially with the weaknesses and faults that I have.

I also realize that the far superior parent in our family is my wife, Nellie Jo. I have never seen such sacrificial and unconditional love flow from one human to another. She is the true instrument of God who raised our three sons so well.

But this is a post about fatherhood. At the end of the day, I have several lessons that I have learned about the great challenge of being a dad. Thank you for allowing this fellow struggler the opportunity to share these lessons.

Lesson 1: Children Are Precious Gifts From God

If we parents ever fully recognize the incredible gift we have been given in our children, our attitude about them will be one of unceasing praise. I realize that not every couple has been given children. And I realize that I do not deserve my sons any more than husbands and wives who have not been blessed with children. They are gifts of grace. Undeserved and unmerited.

Homosexuality a personal choice, says New Zealand Conservative Party leader

New Zealand Herald ^ posted on Saturday, August 04, 2012 by gareththomasnz

Conservative Party leader Colin Craig has sparked outrage by saying homosexuality is a choice and gay people are more likely to have been abused as children.

The comments on TV3’s The Nation this morning came in a discussion with Labour MP Louisa Wall over her bill to legalise same-sex marriage.

Asked if he thought the bill might encourage homosexuality, Mr Craig replied people chose to be homosexual and factors other than genetics could determine whether someone was gay.

“I think most people recognise that there are other influences such as upbringing, such as events in life,” he said.

“For homosexuals, they are statistically far more likely to have suffered child abuses as a child… It certainly can make a difference in someone’s choices in life, there’s no question about that in my mind.”

Black Pastors Lay Down Gauntlet to Obama Over Same-Sex Marriage

By Paul Stanley , Christian Post Reporter – July 3, 2012

The Coalition of African American Pastors demanded on Monday that President Obama meet with the group to address his stance on same-sex marriage. So far, the White House has refused to acknowledge the group’s request but leaders say they plan to “turn up the heat” by asking black Christians to sit on the sidelines for the time being.

“We have requested a meeting with President Obama and until he meets with us, we are going to ask black Christians to withhold their support until he personally hears our concerns,” the group’s spokesperson, the Rev. Bill Owens, told The Christian Post on Tuesday after Monday’s press conference in Nashville.

“More than anything, this is an issue of biblical principles and President Obama is carrying our nation down a dangerous road. Many African Americans were once proud of our president but now many are ashamed of his actions.”

Owens said the group hasn’t received a response from the White House and they are growing frustrated with each passing day.

“We can’t compete with the Hollywood folks who are raising the big bucks for the president,” Owens said. “But it was black folks who rallied around him in 2008 and for him to ignore our request with a group of clergy who represents tens of thousands of black Christians of many denominations is an insult.”

AUSTRALIAN PASTOR CRITICIZED FOR POSTING ‘ADAM AND STEVE’ MARRIAGE MESSAGE AT CHURCH

By Stoyan Zaimov , Christian Post Reporter – July 20, 2012

An Australian Baptist pastor has come under criticism for posting what are being called homophobic messages on his church windows – although he has said he is solely expressing his opinion on what the Bible says of human sexuality.

The Hamilton Baptist church in Australia, where the Rev. Trevor Walmsley preaches, displayed electronic messages on the side of the sanctuary reading “You are here because God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” and another reading “None of us owe our existence to same-sex sexual relationships”.

A number of local residents who read the messages were “outraged,” News.com.au reported, but Walmsley was quick to explain that the signs represent his views, and not necessarily those of the church.

“I suppose they are a bit controversial, but I am very much in support of marriage as it has been traditionally known,” the Australian pastor said. “I can’t speak for the denomination but for me personally, and probably for our church here, we would stand for the traditional definition of marriage of a man and a woman for life, to the exclusion of all others.”

Israel Trip Report of God’s Amazing Miracles / Do not miss Israel tour testimonies on Sun 29th July

Dear family & friends in Christ,

It is with great joy that we bring you this exciting report of the amazing miracles that God did on the recent Catch The Fire Ministries trip to Israel as  Pr Daniel, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, led a team of around 75 people to the Holy Land.

Later this week, we will also give you an update of the amazing miracles of God on the Sri Lanka tour.  So much happened on the tour that we will try our best to share it with you in point form.

1) On 22nd June the Malaysian Airlines flight left Melbourne airport carrying around 70 prayer warriors. Once the plane was up in the sky, there was an announcement on every TV screen on every seat, “Pr Daniel’s team pray for Australia”. Just then, all who were on tour started praying, while we knew that thousands more were praying on the ground right across our nation. It was so great to cover Australia in prayer!

2) After a 24 hour transit in Sri Lanka at a hotel on the beach, the team came to the airport to take the next flight to Jordan, but the flight was delayed by 90 minutes. Just then, the Lord spoke to Pr Daniel to call the team together at the International Terminal in the Sri Lanka airport and pray for Sri Lanka. Soon the whole team was on their knees worshipping and singing ‘He is Lord’. The presence of God was so great. Many at the airport were shocked to see us worship. Then Pr Daniel called out for anyone who wanted prayer to come forward. Just then, a Hindu man came out and gave his life to Jesus at the airport! Also another young woman of around 25, who was on tour, came up for prayer. She was mightily touched by God and healed instantly! She no longer needed any medication, which she had to take for her sickness.

3) Another young woman, who had come on the trip with her father, was not a believer in Jesus. In fact, she wanted to go back to Australia, as she did not expect the tour to be full on worship, praise and rejoicing. But glory to God, the presence of God showed up at the house of Mary, Martha & Lazarus in Israel, as Pr Daniel led worship and preached the Word. This young lady, with tears streaming down her cheeks, gave her life to Jesus! There was also a tremendous restoration with her father. At the end of the tour, this young lady did not want to leave the team. What a mighty God we serve!

4) The Sea of Galilee was amazing. As we took the boat ride, we started worshipping the Lord. Pr Daniel shared the Word, then everyone started dancing and prasing God. The joy of the Lord just absolutely filled the boat, as we sang, “Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him in the morning and praise Him at the noon time…” Then we stretched are hands to the north, south, east and west and prayed for the nations to rise up in Jesus Name!

HOSTILITY TO CHRISTIANITY IN EUROPE

Dr. Peter Hammond  – July 2012 edition of JOY! Magazine.

The secularisation and paganisation of large sections of Europe is tragic. There are surprisingly dynamic pockets of spiritual vitality and life amidst the general atheism and heathenism, but the general picture in Europe is of spiritual decline.

Missionary Power House

In 1900, Evangelicals in Europe constituted 45% of the world’s Evangelicals. Now less than 4% of all Evangelicals in the world are in Europe. The 19th century was the greatest century of Missionary advance. It was a century of astounding inventions and of spectacular advances in technology. Many countries in Europe experienced dynamic Spiritual Revivals. Christian missionaries from Europe won whole tribes and nations to Christ, in the remotest regions of the globe. For over a thousand years, Europe had been Christendom, the heartland and stronghold of Christian civilisation. The 19th century has seen such staggering growth in numbers, productivity, power and wealth, that most would have imagined that Europe would have continued to dominate the globe for centuries to come. The optimism which had prevailed in the 19th century gave way to profound pessimism after the First World War.

Devastation

However, World War I shattered Europe. An entire generation of young men died in brutal trench warfare. 1914 marked the end of the greatest century of Christian advance and the beginning of what proved to be the worst century of persecution. The consequences of the First World War, continues to have far-reaching repercussions to this present day. Of the 60 million European soldiers who were mobilised from 1914 to 1918, over 9 million were killed, 7 million permanently disabled and 15 million seriously injured.

Salt Shakers E-News – House of Reps report on ‘marriage’ tabled in Parliament

THE MP who chaired the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs Inquiry into same-sex marriage, Graham Perrett, has encouraged fellow MPs to “vote with the courage of their convictions”.

He opened his ‘Foreword’ to what is called an ‘Advisory Report’ (which is published this week), with a quote from Australian Rugby player David Pocock, which he found in Marie Claire, (July 2012, p. 44) “I believe every human being is precious and we are all part of God’s family – and that marriage is a beautiful thing and should not be used as a weapon to promote prejudice.”

Mr Perrett said he was “a little taken aback to read of his progressive and tolerant approach to marriage equality.” and followed that with, “Either footy has changed significantly since I played it, or this nation has. And after conducting an inquiry into marriage legislation I now know it is the latter”.

There you have the gist of this report – Australia is now progressive and tolerant and we should change the Marriage Act to include ‘same-sex couples’.

Franklin Graham: There is ‘No Compromise’ on Abortion, Gay Marriage

Christian Post on Friday, May 18, 2012

In an article published in the May issue of Decision Magazine, evangelist Franklin Graham says there is no room for compromise in the upcoming presidential election, especially on the topics of abortion and same-sex marriage.” I realize our nation needs constructive, wise policies for the economy, national defense, energy and a number of other key concerns. My lifetime spans 12 presidents, some liberal and some conservative. They have approached these topics with different policies. At least there is some room for sincere debate on these issues,” Graham writes in the article dated May 1.

“However, there is no place for compromise on straightforward moral issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage. God has given us clear, biblical direction that we must follow and obey.”

Graham argues that to have a relationship with Jesus is to both trust him and obey him, and therefore what is stated explicitly in the Bible should be taken as the Lord’s law.

Graham begins his argument by discussing the issue of abortion, saying, “As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I believe this is a non-negotiable issue.”

“Abortion is wrong. It is the murder of unborn children, and no law of the land and no party platform can ever legitimize it,” the minister states. The second “moral flashpoint” Graham speaks on is same-sex marriage, writing, “the Bible clearly defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman. There is absolutely no gray area.” (more…)

Five Reasons Christians Should Continue to Oppose Gay Marriage

Friday, May 11, 2012 – By Kevin DeYoung , CP Guest Contributor

Yesterday, to no one’s surprise, President Obama revealed in an interview that after some “evolution” he has “concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.” This after the Vice-President came out last Sunday strongly in favor of gay marriage. Not coincidentally, the New York Times ran an article on Tuesday (an election day with a marriage amendment on one ballot) about how popular and not controversial gay television characters have become. In other words, everyone else has grown up so why don’t you? It can seem like the whole world is having a gay old time, with conservative Christians the only ones refusing to party.

The temptation, then, is for Christians go silent and give up the marriage fight: “It’s no use staying in this battle,” we think to ourselves. “We don’t have to change our personal position. We’ll keep speaking the truth and upholding the Bible in our churches, but getting worked up over gay marriage in the public square is counter productive. It’s a waste of time. It makes us look bad. It ruins our witness. And we’ve already lost. Time to throw in the towel.” I understand that temptation. It is an easier way. But I do not think it is the right way, the God glorifying way, or the way of love.

Here are five reasons Christians should continue to publicly and winsomely oppose bestowing the term and institution of marriage upon same-sex couples:

1. Every time the issue of gay marriage has been put to a vote by the people, the people have voted to uphold traditional marriage. Even in California. In fact, the amendment passed in North Carolina on Tuesday by a wider margin (61-39) than a similar measure passed six years ago in Virginia (57-42). The amendment passed in North Carolina, a swing state Obama carried in 2008, by 22 percentage points. We should not think that gay marriage in all the land is a foregone conclusion. To date 30 states have constitutionally defined marriage as between a man and a woman.

Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful Mums!

Happy Mothers Day!Dear Mums,

May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to all you wonderful Mums. We love you very much and pray that God will continue to protect you and guide you for the rest of your life.

I always thank God for Mums, because my mum prayed me into salvation, and I also thank Him for blessing me with such a great wife who has been a wonderful Mum to our children.

A Mums work never seems to end. From the time she gets up until the time she goes to bed, she has so much work to be done.  She is always there meeting the needs of her family.

I would encourage everyone to celebrate your Mum, because I suppose it takes a Mum to understand what it’s like to be a Mum.
