But he intends to oppose moves to build a mosque next door, promoted by former Afghanistan government minister Khaliq Fazal.
Mr Fazal said the Omar Farooq Mosque, which would include a community centre and car park, would replace the nearby mosque in Photinia Street where the community has met for the past 16 years.
He said that the residential area was now too small to accommodate its 500 worshippers from different countries.
The City of Casey approved plans for the church in July 2011 and planners are now considering the mosque’s application.
Planning manager Duncan Turner said the council would take into account ”local and state planning policy, the impact on industrial land supply, the intensity of the activities, scale of the building and amenity issues such as car parking”.
Mr Fazal, 61, a former minister of public works in Afghanistan, is now a consultant and the public face of those supporting the mosque. ”This is a multicultural country and a multi-faith country. There is a Fijian mosque and a church next to each other on Hallam Road and there is no problem whatsoever.”
When he met Pastor Nalliah for the first time on the barren, weedy Green Street lot the two men shook hands and chatted amicably until Pastor Nalliah said: ”We don’t approve of Nazi ideology but that doesn’t mean that we hate the Germans.
”Frankly,” Pastor Nalliah said, ”I don’t think we can live side by with a mosque next to us based on what’s happening in Europe.”

Sharia courts ‘as consensual as rape’, House of Lords told

MUSLIM women in Britain are being forced to “live in fear” because of the spread of unofficial and unregulated sharia courts enforcing Islamic rules, the House of Lords was told.
Rulings by informal religious “councils” and tribunals are sometimes no more “consensual” than rape, peers were told.
The warnings came in the first ever full Parliamentary debate on the subject in the UK.
Baroness Cox, the independent peer and Third World campaigner, last year tabled a private member’s bill in the Lords setting out plans to rein in a network of unofficial self-styled “courts” which apply Islamic principles.
Pakistan Supreme Court tells media to stop glorifying jihad terrorists

It’s noteworthy that the Pakistani media would be glorifying jihadists in the first place — but not all that surprising. After all, most of the “journalists” probably hold essentially the same beliefs as the jihadis do, and even if they don’t, there is a worldwide reluctance on the part of the media to stand up to Islamic supremacists and jihadists.
Look at how many Sharia-compliant “journalists” we have in the U.S. — essentially propagandists who would never dare write a critical word about the global jihad or Islamic supremacism, and eagerly demonize those who are trying to defend the freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and equality of rights for all people: Christiane Amanpour, Niraj Warikoo, Bob Smietana, Kari Huus…the list goes on and on.

The filmmaker is in hiding, flags have been burned and trampled, and though it may not have been reported on the major news networks, Bibles are being burned and vulnerable Christians are being attacked in countries half a world away.
Many here in the West have been perplexed or alarmed by these events, especially after our soldiers risked their lives last year to support the people of Libya against Colonel Qaddafi’s forces. The irony is thick in that Ambassador Stevens in particular was keen to help the Libyan people rebuild and he took an active role in supporting their efforts. As a result, I feel compelled to speak out.

To prove my claim, I revealed Eiad Salameh long before this whole fiasco erupted—in 2008 and the first real reportage of Eiad and Nakoula was revealed on September 14th, 2012.

The narrative that circulates the media fails to answer crucial questions behind the mystery of this film.
For example, to date, no one has stepped forward or can confirm for certain that whoever holds an identity by the name of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is that man’s true identity. In the Middle East, if a man by the name of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula indeed exists while being blamed for creating a mess of international proportions—which included the anger of over one billion Muslims—it would not be that difficult to find the entire family in Egypt, including brothers, cousins, aunts, siblings wife, wives, ex-wives, mistresses, pets and all. A bipartisan group of six senators recently wrote to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, asking that he free Rimsha Masih, the eleven-year-old girl who was being held on blasphemy charges and is still under serious threat of mob violence and resumed prosecution even though she has been released on bail. The letter is a welcome indication that the world is finally noticing Pakistan’s blasphemy laws — but working at cross purposes with those who are trying to get Pakistan to scrap these laws is none other than Barack Obama, who is now doing nothing less than effectively enforcing them upon the U.S. military. The senators wrote to the wrong President.
Rimsha reportedly has Down syndrome, yet was charged with blasphemy for allegedly burning some pages of the Qur’an among some trash she had collected. Even worse, a Muslim cleric has now been accused of planting the pages of the Qur’an among the remnants of the papers she burned, so as to ensure her conviction. According to Pakistan’s Dawn, a witness “said he tried to stop the cleric from tampering with the evidence, but he insisted it would strengthen the case and lead to eviction of the girl’s family from the locality.”

‘BARRIE CASSIDY: Now the Turkish prime minister, as I understand it, is putting forward a proposal for international laws on religious defamation. What do you make of that idea?
Bob CARR: ‘I don’t think that would be acceptable to the Western world. We had a little example of how religious vilification laws work in a case that gained some notoriety under the Victorian legislation, and it meant drawn-out legal process directed at some pastors who would have gained, without this, no publicity whatsoever for their criticism of Islam. I think dragging religious disputes into the courts is a very bad notion.
Melbourne Islamic rally cancelled

One of the key organisers of an Islamic rally to be held in Melbourne on Sunday has cancelled the protest amid police concerns it will be overrun by violent activists.
Swaybah Javed, who had helped invite more than 1800 people through social networking to a rally outside the city’s State Library, says she’s been forced to scrap the event.
“I am calling off the protest as I do not want more violence on the streets, as Islam does not promote violence,” she told AAP on Thursday.
“It is a shameful day for Australia when Islamophobia has boiled over to the point where it is impossible to carry out a peaceful protest.”
Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Tim Cartwright had already started planning for the worst on Sunday, putting mounted police and heavily armed police on alert and warning that those planning the rally were not representatives of the Islamic community.
