More Than 1,000 Syrian Leaders Attend Premiere Of Gospel Film

Syrian Leaders(Virginia Beach, Virginia, March 10, 2009) — This morning on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “700 Club,” I was interviewed about Inside The Revolution. I spoke about the Iranian nuclear threat to the U.S. and Israel, as well as the good news from Iran — that more than 1 million Shia Muslims there have come to faith in Jesus Christ over the past thirty years.

Just before lunch, I spoke to several hundred CBN employees about some of the amazing stories I have personally witnessed of how the God of the Bible is transforming lives throughout the Muslim world, and spreading the message of the gospel throughout the epicenter.

Just after I spoke, I receive an email from a friend in the Middle East with the latest piece of good news from that region. Last week, as you’ll recall, I alerted you to the fact that a major motion picture about the life of the Apostle Paul and how he came to faith in Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus was going to premiere in the Syrian capital. I also asked you to pray that God would bless the showing of the film entitled, Damascus. (more…)

Varieties Of Intolerance: Religious And Secular

By Cardinal George Pell

Cardinal George PellLet me begin with two tales of intolerance.

On November 4 last year, the day Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, California and two other states also voted to amend their constitutions to define marriage as between a man and a woman only. This brought to 29 the number of American states with constitutional amendments recognizing only marriage between a man and a woman as valid, including Arizona which amended its constitution in 2008 after rejecting a proposed amendment in 2006. 42 states also have statutes defending the traditional understanding of marriage1. Only Massachusetts and Connecticut have legalized same-sex marriage – by court decisions, not legislation – and California’s Supreme Court had also legalized same sex marriage in May 2008, when it struck down a marriage amendment made to the state constitution in 2000. The new amendment passed last November – known as Proposition 8 – is now itself before the California Supreme Court, which yesterday [March 5] heard argument in three cases claiming it is unconstitutional. We can expect a decision from the court within the next three months2. (more…)

Iran Adds Tomb Of Mordechai And Esther To Its National Heritage List

Tomb of Mordechai & EstherBy Teresa Neumann

“Next to the mausoleum lies a large hollow in the ground, which Iranian Jews believe to be an entrance to a tunnel that stretches all the way to Jerusalem.”

(Iran)—Arutz Sheva reports that a few months ago Iran took the rather unusual step of adding a Jewish holy site to its National Heritage List. The site—the tomb of Mordechai and Esther—are now under official government protection and responsibility. (more…)

How I Am Praying For The President

ObamaBy Paul Edwards From “Townhall Todays Opinion USA”

We should certainly pray for the president. We should pray for wisdom for him, for strength for him, for protection for him and his family. But where his plans clearly oppose righteousness, we should pray they fail. Where his plans clearly are intended to do harm to the people he leads, contrary to the oath he swore before God, God’s people should pray that those plans do not succeed.

Reasonable men are now beginning to question whether or not Barack Obama is intentionally acting to harm the interests of the American people. (See the American Enterprise Institute’s Kevin Hassett, and mainstream media pundit Howard Fineman). Can God’s people stand idle and allow their elected leader to undermine righteousness? To do so is to be complicit in the unrighteous deeds of our elected leader. We have an obligation to hold him to account, and Barack Obama is ultimately accountable to the Judge of all the earth. Kenya: Church Struggling After Islamists Destroy Building

Church Still Meeting In Open AirSix months after attack, Muslim assailants still at large; weary congregation faces heat, rain.

GARISSA, Kenya, March 5 (Compass Direct News) – Six months after a gang of Muslim youths ruined a church building in this town in northern Kenya, Christians still worshipping in the sweltering heat of the open air say they feel disillusioned that officials have done nothing to punish the culprits or restore their structure.

On a sunny afternoon last Sept. 14, when angry Muslim youths threw more than 400 members of the Redeemed Gospel Church out of their church building, the Christians hoped they would be able to return to the ruins of their former structure. That hope is quickly giving way to anger, hopelessness and despair.

“After six months in the open, the church feels tired and cheated,” said pastor David Matolo. “We are fed up with the empty promises from the government administration.”

He said the church, which began worshipping in Garissa in early 2001 with only a dozen members, is fast shrinking. (more…)

Islamic Honor Killings Take Center Stage

Islamic womenWomen’s rights group warns of beatings, executions

A human rights organization says it’s not enough for Americans to adopt “resolutions” opposing violence when Islamic girls are stoned for being victims of gang-rapes and warns that such violence already has moved into the United States, with beatings and murders – including a recent beheading – documented.

The result is a plan for a public rally on March 8, International Women’s Day, at the Capitol Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., according to the organization Responsible for Equality and Liberty.

“Every day, women are under attack by Islamic supremacism that supports and approves of oppression, mutilation, and murder of women. According to leaders and followers of Islamic supremacism, they have the right to commit violence against women. Islamic supremacism views oppression of women as a legitimate ‘right,’ violence against women as a legitimate ‘right,’ and murdering women as a legitimate ‘right,'” the organization announced. The State Of The Nation Prayer Event In London Said To Be Possibly The Most Important Gathering Since WWII

By Teresa Neumann

State Of The Nation Gathering“Put a stake in the ground and declare that we will no longer be divided and that we will allow the Lord to be Lord, and that the church will rise up and say ‘Lord, let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done.'”

(London, England)—Hundreds of Christians, representing many denominations, gathered at the Emmanuel Centre Church in London last weekend to cry out to God over the moral and spiritual crisis in the UK. As reported in Christian Today, The State of the Nation gathering also focused on repentance over the church’s silence in the face of immoral legislation passed over the decades, particularly in the areas of the unborn child and marriage.

David Noakes, a member of the State of the Nation facilitating group, was quoted as saying the prayer meeting was possibly the most important gathering since World War II. (more…)

Reading The Old And New Testament Changes Agnostic; Puts Him On “High Alert”

BibleReading the Old and New Testament Changes Agnostic; Puts Him on “High Alert”
By Teresa Neumann

“While reading the Bible, I often felt as if I had finally lifted a veil from my eyes…”

Jewish by birth, agnostic by choice, blogger David Plotz has had a piece published in Slate explaining how he challenged himself to read the Old and New Testament from cover-to-cover, having never read the Bible before. Spoiler alert: It is both illuminating and sad. Though he shares numerous spiritual revelations throughout his “testimony” indicating, on one hand, that his heart has softened toward God, on the other hand he continues to struggle intellectually with the Old Testament God of Law and Justice.

No doubt someone, somewhere, is praying for Mr. Plotz.

All that said, for those open enough to accept Plotz’s spiritual/intellectual wranglings, a thorough read of his experience as reported in Slate is fascinating. (more…)

Opinion – UN Resolution To Limit Free Speech On Islam

It is the so-called mainstream Muslims, grouped in the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, who are now demanding through the UN that Islam be officially shielded from any criticism. Although written tongue-in-cheek in the language of human rights and of opposition to discrimination, the non-binding UN Resolution seeks to extend protection not to humans but to opinions and to ideas, granting only the latter immunity from being “offended”.

Rather than attempt to put its house in order or to confront such grave questions as the mass murder of Shia Muslims by Sunni Muslims (and vice versa), or the desecration of Muslim holy sites by Muslim gangsters, or the discrimination against Ahmadi Muslims by other Muslims, the UN resolution seeks to extend the whole area of denial from its existing homeland in the Islamic world into the heartland of post-enlightenment democracy, where it is still individuals who have rights, not religions. 1) Abortion Law Under Challenge In Victoria 2) Salt Shakers E-News: NSW – Greens MP Calls For Decriminalisation Of Abortion

Dear friends and family in Christ,

1) The following article recently appeared in the Age.  Please keep praying and acting for a divine reversal of the abortion laws in Victoria!

“Abortion law under challenge”

Jill Stark

THE federal Attorney-General is under increasing pressure from within his own party to use his powers to overturn Victoria’s new abortion laws, which leading lawyers and Catholic hospitals say are in breach of international law.

At issue is a clause in the new legislation that forces doctors who oppose abortion to declare their belief and refer patients seeking terminations to specialists who are willing to provide the procedure.

Queen’s Counsel Neil Young, a former Federal Court judge, and barrister Peter Willis, a former adviser to the attorney-general’s office, who examined the legislation on behalf of Catholic Health Australia, say that Australia will fail to meet its international obligations unless the clause is removed. Reborn Costello Strides Ahead Of Turnbull

The Australian

by  Dennis Shanahan, Political editor | March 10, 2009

Peter CostelloMalcolm TurnbullPETER Costello is the publicly preferred Liberal leader over Malcolm Turnbull as Kevin Rudd and the Labor Government continue to dominate the Coalition during the economic crisis.

The former treasurer, who is increasingly seen as an alternative Liberal leader, has a two-to-one advantage over Mr Turnbull as preferred prime minister, with strong support among men, Coalition voters, older Australians and the 35 to 49 year olds who are most likely to have mortgages and children. Even More Treachery

Dear friends

Prime Minister Kevin RuddObamaBoth Rudd and Obama won their elections in part by seeking to woo Christians. Yet both have consistently promoted anti-faith, anti-family and anti-life policies.

Today the Rudd government announced that it has reversed the ban on foreign aid funding for abortion services: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/03/10/killing-babies-to-improve-their-health/
