Jury clears Christians who dared to preach to U.S. Muslims

‘My clients were there to evangelize, change minds and challenge Islam’

Jurors in Michigan have rejected the concept of a “dhimmi” status for Christians, ruling that four evangelists who went to an Arab festival not just to be present but to “change minds” did not commit a breach of peace as police had claimed.

The word comes from the Thomas More Law Center, which defended the four Christians after they were charged for being at an Arab festival June 18 in Dearborn, Mich.

The verdict came from a jury of six Dearborn residents late Friday, who concluded that Nabeel Qureshi, Paul Rezkalla, Negeen Mayel and David Wood were not guilty of breach-of-peace charges.

The issue strikes directly at the heart of what many fear is developing across the nation: Muslims given special treatment that subjects those of other faiths to second-class status.

Moroccan Convert Serving 15 Years for His Faith

Bible and Prison BarsFriday, 17 September 2010 Special to Compass Direct News News – Featured News

Nearly five years into the prison sentence of the only Christian in Morocco serving time for his faith, Moroccan Christians and advocates question the harsh measures of the Muslim state toward a man who dared speak openly about Jesus.

By the end of December Jamaa Ait Bakrim, 46, will have been in prison for five years at Morocco’s largest prison, Prison Centrale, in Kenitra. An outspoken Christian convert, Bakrim was sentenced to 15 years prison for “proselytizing” and destroying “the goods of others” in 2005 after burning two defunct utility poles located in front of his private business in a small town in south Morocco.

Advocates and Moroccan Christians said, however, that the severity of his sentence in relation to his misdemeanor shows that authorities were determined to put him behind bars because he persistently spoke about his faith.

“He became a Christian and didn’t keep it to himself,” said a Moroccan Christian and host for Al Hayat Television who goes only by his first name, Rachid, for security reasons. “He shared it with people around him. In Morocco, and this happened to me personally, if you become a Christian you may be persecuted by your family. If you keep it to yourself, no one will bother you. If you share it with anyone else and start speaking about it, that’s another story.”

Iranian Pastors Risk Lives for Training

Inspire Iranian PastorsWednesday, 01 September 2010 EDT Valerie G. Lowe News – Featured News

If the Iranian government knew Christians were learning how to grow a church in the middle of their Muslim nation, the converts could lose their freedom—or worse, their lives.

But that hasn’t stopped pastors with the underground church in Iran from secretly attending classroom sessions led by Dave Anderson, a founder and longtime trainer for EQUIP, the organization led by Christian leadership guru John Maxwell.

Pope to tell British MPs to show more respect for the rights of Christians

The PopeBy Steve Doughty Last updated on 15th September 2010 Mail Online

Pope Benedict XVI has criticised Labour’s Equality Act, which he denounced as ‘sinful’

The Pope will use a key speech during his state visit to tell British authorities to show more respect for Christianity, Church leaders warned last night.

Benedict XVI, who arrives tomorrow for his tour of England and Scotland, is to call on the state to have ‘an open and positive attitude towards religious faith’.

His remarks amount to a criticism of politicians who have allowed equality laws to trump religious beliefs, in some cases preventing Christians displaying their faith at work.

Earlier this year the Pope denounced as sinful Labour’s Equality Act  -  which is likely to be put into operation by the Coalition this autumn.

Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols, the head of the Roman Catholic Church for England and Wales, last night warned that the pontiff would be critical of British law in his speech at Westminster Hall.

‘He will want to explore the role of religious faith in modern democratic societies,’ Archbishop Nichols said. ‘While he will recognise the importance of institutions being secular, he expects secular institutions to have an open and positive attitude to religious faith.’

Explosive Growth of Christianity is Changing China

Chinese Christians worship Jesusby Teresa Neumann : Sep 15, 2010 : Christopher Landau – BBC

“There is no small irony in the party’s new-found enthusiasm for supporting the development of religion in China, given Communism’s commitment to atheism.”

Founder’s Note: We can barely explain how much growth in eastern countries there is for Christ. Who knew? My dad was born in China to non-Chinese missionary parents. My parents adopted a Chinese boy. He became a great surgeon in the United States. My niece goes to China on business. Someday my wife and I will visit too. –Steve and Derene Shultz

(China) – The BBC reports that communist rulers in China have radically altered their views about religion and as a result, Christianity is growing in China as never before. The caveat is that the closely limited new freedoms are only granted to those Christians willing to worship in government-sanctioned churches.

The director general of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, Wang Zuo An, was quoted as saying there are now at least 20 million Christians in China worshipping in the state-sanctioned church.

“Such growth is unprecedented in the history of Christianity in China. Christianity is enjoying its best period of growth in China,” he said, adding that, “On the question of whether there is God, the Chinese Communist Party believes there is no God in the world.”

Rev. John Zhang, a Catholic priest, said: “Some officials say, ‘You have done for Chinese society what we cannot do. Without any political involvement, the Church is doing a good job, and we from government appreciate it.'”

The report noted that house – or underground – churches remain a “significant part of the Chinese Christian landscape,” but “both the Catholic and Protestant churches sanctioned by the state are now also seeing levels of growth that few predicted in the 1980s.”

Said one young Chinese Christian student, “I think this nation will change, and I think God is doing great things in China.”

Pope’s battle to save Christmas: Don’t let atheists crush your traditions, Benedict tells Britain

Tony Blair & Gordon BrownThe Pope at Westminster HallBy Steve Doughty Mail Online 17th September 2010

Easter and Christmas should not be discouraged by fear of offending others Christians in public roles should be allowed to act according to conscience Lack of ethical foundation resulted in financial crisis, he tells politicians

The Pope issued a clarion call to defend Christianity last night, saying Christmas was at risk of being struck from the calendar.

In a strongly worded speech delivered in Parliament, Benedict XVI bluntly told politicians not to ‘silence’ religion and discourage public celebration of its most important festivals.

And in a thinly veiled attack on controversial equality legislation, he said laws which forced Christians to act against their consciences were wrong.

‘There are those who would advocate that the voice of religion be silenced, or at least relegated to the purely private sphere,’ he told senior politicians and public figures.

‘Don’t sideline Christianity’: The Pope urges politicians to work to ensure religion has a place in national life during a speech at Westminster Hall

‘There are those who argue that the public celebration of festivals such as Christmas should be discouraged, in the questionable belief that it might somehow offend those of other religions or none.’

Is Obama winning the Muslim world?

Barack ObamaPosted: August 12, 2010 Larry Elder, World Net Daily

“It’s conceivable,” said then-presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008, “that there are those in the Arab world who say to themselves, ‘This is a guy who spent some time in the Muslim world, has a middle name of Hussein, and appears more worldly and has called for talks with people, and so he’s not going to be engaging in the same sort of cowboy diplomacy as George Bush.'”

A 2008 Zogby International poll surveyed those in the “friendly” Arab countries of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Eighty-three percent viewed the United States “somewhat” or “very” unfavorably.

Enter President Barack Hussein Obama, a man with a keen and learned understanding of the Arab world – a man who promised to restore our image through outreach based on mutual respect and understanding. Bush, Obama believed, governed with a swagger and aggressiveness that alienated friends and hardened the hearts of enemies. To forge a “new beginning” and find “common ground,” Obama apologized for America’s “mistakes.”

Man-child Obama and the politics of revenge

Barack ObamaPosted: July 24, 2010

I found solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.

~ Barack Obama

In a 9/11 New York Times interview, the murderous terrorist Bill Ayers, President Obama’s political mentor, the man in whose home he started his political career in 1995, said: ”I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in whose church Michelle and Barack Obama dutifully worshipped for 20 years, said: “Racism is how this country (America) was founded and how this country is still run!”

Obama, recounting his formative years, wrote: “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully.  The more politically active black students.  The foreign students.  The Chicanos.  The Marxist professors and structural feminists.” From this we can deduce that Obama and his closest friends all passionately hate America.

This is President Obama and the politics of revenge.

This is who Obama is. This is how Obama was raised: to hate America with a fanatical hatred that controls and animates his social, political, economic, religious and foreign-policy worldview. His entire Cabinet are a veritable Who’s Who of political radicals, social engineers, Marxists, feminists, socialists, communists, fascists.

DOES JESUS RESPECT ISLAM?

By Coach Dave Daubenmire September 16, 2010 NewsWithViews.com

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:5-6

I have watched with a great deal of curiosity the feeding frenzy created by the White House regarding the burning of the Quran by a pastor in Florida. I am always leery of where it is the media is trying to take me.

First of all, they want us to know that Pastor Terry Jones shepherds a “small congregation” in Gainesville, Florida, as if behavior is validated by the number of followers that one has. Evidently Joel Osteen’s version of the Gospel is better than Pastor Jones’ because he has such a large following. I’m sure that Pastor Osteen would never do such a “hateful” thing.

Germany’s Surrender

IslamicIt is another dismal capitulation on Europe’s sad road to dhimmitude.

The police union for the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) stunned Germans this week when it announced it would bring policemen from Turkey to help patrol the turbulent streets of some immigrant neighbourhoods in NRW cities. With this announcement, the state’s police administration is admitting domestic police forces can no longer handle violent Turkish and other youths of immigrant backgrounds inhabiting these quarters.

“It can’t go on like this any longer,” said the union’s chairman, Erich Rettinghaus, in the German national newspaper, Die Welt. “Perhaps it is a good measure. One should try it out. The new NRW Interior Minister is from Duisburg and knows the problems.” According to Die Welt, the Turkish police would patrol the immigrant Turkish areas in their own uniforms together with German policemen.

After Miraculous Crusade in Nation of Georgia: Government Decrees Protection of Christian Minorities

Georgia Crusade 2Georgia Crusadeby Aimee Herd : 2 Aug 2010 : SJ Morris – Prophetic Vision

“…the place was packed with over 10,000 people! All the major Georgian TV channels filmed the Friday service for their news bulletins.”

(Tbilisi, Georgia)—According to a report on prophetic evangelist David Hathaway’s website, God is moving in an extraordinary way in the nation of Georgia.

Recently, an evangelistic crusade was held, despite much opposition prior to the event. Amazingly, some 30,000 people attended the 3-day crusade. Below is a report from the website on what God did, and what He’s doing in the country of Georgia.

TBILISI, GEORGIA, JULY 2010 REPORT: In three days approximately 30,000 attended the services in the Sports Palace, Tbilisi, Georgia. Before these meetings there were only 2000 evangelicals in the capital Tbilisi, and another 2000 scattered across the country. These services—and the events surrounding it—lifted a repressed minority group of Christians into a group to be respected within the nation with thousands of converts and the Government passing a decree to protect them! Pastors came from Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and even Spain to witness the event.

Obama’s Ramadan Blessing

By Joseph Farah, World Net Daily, 14th August 2010

That’s what I call pretending.

In blessing the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, Barack Obama added that Islam “is a faith known for great diversity and racial equality” and that it “has always been part of America.”

I have more than a passing knowledge of Islam that includes firsthand experience and a significant amount of study over the last 30 years. But somehow I must have missed the advancements of justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

Honestly, I can think of none.

Did I overlook a reformation in the religion that has resulted in one genocide after another for the last 1,300 years? Racial equality? Has the Quran been rewritten to excise Muhammad’s characterizations of blacks as “ugly,” “raisin heads” and “pug-nosed slaves”?

Didn’t it also say in that book that when Allah created the white man, he touched his right shoulder and he came out destined for paradise, but when he touched the left shoulder of the black man, he came out destined for hell?

Beck: Help us restore traditional American values

The rally, under the name \By Philip Elliott And Nafeesa Syeed, Associated Press Writers – Sun Aug 29

WASHINGTON – Conservative commentator Glenn Beck and tea party champion Sarah Palin appealed Saturday to a vast, predominantly white crowd on the National Mall to help restore traditional American values and honor Martin Luther King’s message. Civil rights leaders who accused the group of hijacking King’s legacy held their own rally and march.

While Beck billed his event as nonpolitical, conservative activists said their show of strength was a clear sign that they can swing elections because much of the country is angry with what many voters call an out-of-touch Washington.

Palin told the tens of thousands who stretched from the marble steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the grass of the Washington Monument that calls to transform the country weren’t enough. “We must restore America and restore her honor,” said the former Alaska governor, echoing the name of the rally, “Restoring Honor.”

Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008 and a potential White House contender in 2012, and Beck repeatedly cited King and made references to the Founding Fathers. Beck put a heavy religious cast on nearly all his remarks, sounding at times like an evangelical preacher.

“Something beyond imagination is happening,” he said. “America today begins to turn back to God.”

Beck exhorted the crowd to “recognize your place to the creator. Realize that he is our king. He is the one who guides and directs our life and protects us.” He asked his audience to pray more. “I ask, not only if you would pray on your knees, but pray on your knees but with your door open for your children to see,” he said. Nigerian President Solicits Prayers from Christians

Dr Goodluck Nigerian PresidentSaturday, July 31, 2010 ASSIST News Service (ANS)

By Success Kanayo Uchime

ABUJA, NIGERIA (ANS) — Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has called on Nigerian religious leaders “not to relent” in “praying for the peace of the country.”

The President stated this during a Prayer Breakfast organized by the Aso Villa Chapel in the State House, Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Saturday, July 31, 2010.

He acknowledged that the collective prayers, offered by men and women of God, is what has been keeping the country, adding that more prayers are needed to make the country perform better.

He went on to say that “the way out of the challenges facing the country” was through a “trust in God,” and he enjoined religious organizations to pray to God to guide Nigerian leaders “to lead the nation properly.”

Referring to the scriptures where the children of Israel experienced calamity as a result of their deviation from God, the President said that it is a “dangerous thing to turn away from God,” pledging that he will continue to trust in God to direct him as he leads this West African country.

“No matter the wisdom, skills and ability I have, I cannot succeed except with God,” he remarked.
