The Mosque at Ground Zero

Earlier this week, the proposed New York City mosque at ground zero cleared its final hurdle. Nothing seems to stand in the way of its construction.

I am appalled that peace-loving Muslims would want to do this on what is, for most Americans, hallowed ground. I am even more appalled that the mayor of New York is in favor of the idea.

It would be like the Japanese building a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor! At a speech in front of the statue of liberty, Mayor Bloomberg made the case for the mosque on the grounds of tolerance. But tolerance isn’t the issue here. And certainly not tolerance as Bloomberg means it. Tolerance used to mean listening respectfully to others’ opinions, even when you disagree. Tolerance as Bloomberg understands it, means “I won’t say no to you for anything you want, and you don’t say no to me for anything I want.”-The ultimate expression of political correctness, and the most certain formula for moral chaos.

Christian Center to Open Near Proposed Ground Zero Mosque

Bill KellerTuesday, 13 July 2010  Adrienne S. Gaines News – Featured News

A Florida evangelist is responding to efforts to build a multimillion-dollar mosque two blocks from Ground Zero with plans to open a religious center of his own.

Bill Keller, host of the evangelistic website Liveprayer.com, said his 9/11 Christian Center near Ground Zero will begin holding Sunday prayer meetings Sept. 5. The services will be held at a hotel in downtown New York until Jan. 1, when the center moves a permanent site. The facility will be open daily and will house a prayer chapel. Local ministers also will lead regular outreach ministry.

“I was in prayer and God said, ‘Listen, if the Muslims can build a temple to their false god at Ground Zero, why can’t there be a place dedicated to the true God of the Bible on that same area?'” said Keller, whose website claims 2.4 million subscribers. “Rather than a [protest] event we’re going to have an ongoing work of God right there because the Bible says you combat the darkness with the light.”

Every Month in Europe Many Iranians Are Becoming Christians and Are Being Baptized

HANOVER, GERMANY (ANS) — The Farsi Christian News Network (FCNN) — www.fcnn.com — is reporting that many Iranians who have fled to Europe to escape the persecution of their homeland, have become Christians.

According to reports received by FCNN, a reliable German news agency, DW, in a recent report, disclosed the 40 Iranians who reside in Germany have recently converted and been baptized as Christians in the city of Hanover.

“These baptismal ceremonies were conducted in both Farsi and German,” said the story.

The report also adds that every month tens of Iranians refugees and residents in Germany officially convert to Christianity, “but,” it continued, “this incident in Hanover is the first of its kind where a large group have together converted and been baptized as Christians.”

Should we pray for Julia Gillard’s salvation?? By Pr Daniel

Parliament House Canberra, AustraliaDear family & friends in Christ,

The last few months have been very exciting and challenging with people from all walks of life entering the debate about the upcoming Federal Election this Saturday 21st August.

I first want to thank you all for your overwhelming support through the many responses we have received. I would love to respond to every email, but unfortunately it is not practically possible, as I too have a family. My motto is Jesus first, family second and ministry third.

A few people have asked me, “Pastor, should we not pray for Julia Gillard’s salvation? Maybe once she wins the election she might become a Christian. Don’t we as Christians have to love her? Nothing is impossible with God.” And the list goes on and on.

Let me say this, we have to definitely pray for Julia Gillard’s salvation, we even pray for Bob Brown’s salvation.

When the election was announced, during that first week, we had one of our RUA prayer meeting in the western suburbs of Melbourne in Ms Gillard’s electorate. Around 20 of us went down to her office, placed oil on the doors and windows, and prayed for an hour around the place. (more…)

When will the Church stop being politically correct? By Pr Daniel

Pastor Daniel NalliahDear family & friends in Christ,

Let me start by saying that our battle is not against flesh & blood, but against principalities and powers of darkness in high places (Eph. 6:11-12).

We as pastors and Christian leaders are accountable to God to lead the flock He has entrusted into our hands in the right path. We must stop being politically correct, and return to being biblically correct.  We desperately need your faithful intercessory prayer support (1 Timothy 2:1-7).

In the last few days I have received several phone calls and emails from Christians (including pastors and other Christian leaders) around the country asking me as to why Australian Christian Lobby appears to be promoting self-confessing atheist Julia Gillard for PM in this election and why the Senior Pastor of City Life Church recently stated in the Age newspaper on 6th August that he was not overly concerned by PM Julia Gillard’s atheism, ”Primarily you are looking at them to have what it takes to run the nation.”

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-election/gillard-bid-to-win-back-christians-20100805-11krh.html

I personally called the Senior Pastor to speak to him, but he was out of the country, so I spoke to his personal assistant who was very kind and cooperative in assuring me that she will talk to him and get back to me. As promised she did call me and confirmed that the Pastor had spoken to the Age newspaper journalist and that his response was on his blog.

I read through his blog, but could not find a clear answer to the question as to whether or not it concerned him that the PM was an atheist, so I also contacted the Age journalist who told me that his question to the Pastor about his concern over the PM’s atheism was very straight forward. For which the Pastor responded by saying, ”Primarily you are looking at them to have what it takes to run the nation.”

We also recently read in the news media and on the ACL website that ACL (Australian Christian Lobby) was successful in getting PM Julia Gillard to speak to the Christian voters through the ACL website, where she made several promises in order to win back the Christian vote.

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-election/gillard-pitches-to-christian-voters-20100807-11pih.html

The question we all need to ask is, “Was PM Gillard genuine or was she simply making promises that she will never deliver. I was surprised when I heard that ACL was giving such a forum to Julia Gillard, knowing very well that she is an atheist. Many asked me “Why is ACL doing this again as they did the same with Rudd?” I honestly cannot understand how a Christian leader could give an atheist such a platform to mislead the Christian voters.

Ex-Muslim on Faith, Women’s Rights, Obama

Sabatina JamesTue, May. 04 2010 By Michelle A. Vu Christian Post Reporter

Sabatina James spoke to The Christian Post last week using a temporary cell phone that she had to discard afterward. The bestselling author of My Fight for Faith and Freedom and the founder of the relief organization, Sabatina EV, spoke candidly about her Christian faith, her passion for women’s rights and how she thinks President Obama is handling relations with Islamic countries.

The following are excerpts from the interview.

CP: How old are you?

James: I’m 27 now.

CP: You talk a lot in your book about Islam’s view of women and how Muslim men treat women based on the teachings of the Quran. So is it true what critics of Islam say – that the religion teaches that you can beat your wife, women have no value, and martyrs are promised to go to heaven where virgins await them?

James: Yes, well the Quran says in the fourth Surah (chapter) in verse 34 that if your wife is not obedient you are allowed to beat her. That is what the Quran says, you know. In Islamic countries, like Pakistan, Afghanistan, there is sharia law. And sharia law takes the Quran and that is how they judge. They take verses from the Quran and say it is written in the Quran that is why the women has to be obedient and if she is not you are allowed to beat her. That is the way it is.

Sabatina EV is my organization and there are a lot of Muslim women who come to us. We have girls who were married when they were 13 years old. In Hamburg, for example, there is one, a girl who is from Afghanistan who was married when she was 13 years old. But people do not talk about it because if you say something that is critical about Islam people would immediately say you are racist. And what they do not understand is that this is not about racism but about human rights. If you are living in a democracy you have to protect the human rights and it does not matter if your religion says you are allowed to beat your wife.

When I was a small child it was my wish to die for Allah one day – you asked about the suicide bombers. I didn’t know what to expect in heaven but I was sure this is the only way to get to heaven because there is no guarantee for Muslims to know whether Allah will forgive him his sins or not. But if you die for Allah then you are guaranteed that you and your family will go to heaven; that is what you are taught in the Quran schools. And I was ten years old when I read the Quran and my grandfather, who just died, was a mullah and I learned the Quran from him in Arabic. For me it was normal.

When I was ten years old I went to Austria and I definitely didn’t want to die then. But still I have that desire in my heart that one day Allah will give me the strength to do something like that; that I will kill some non-Muslims and go to heaven. Something quite normal.

CP: So even if a child doesn’t go to a radical Quran school but just living in society a child has these suicide bomber thoughts?

Avaaz Community in Brazil Wins a Stunning Victory Against Corruption

Anti Corruption CampaignDear friends,

A massive online campaign by the Avaaz community in Brazil has just won a stunning victory against corruption.

The “clean record” law was a bold proposal that banned any politician convicted of crimes like corruption and money laundering from running for office. With nearly 25% of the Congress under investigation for corruption, most said it would never pass. But after Avaaz launched the largest online campaign in Brazilian history, helping to build a petition of over 2 million signatures, 500,000 online actions, and tens of thousands of phone calls, we won!

Avaaz members fought corrupt congressmen daily as they tried every trick in the book to kill, delay, amend, and weaken the bill, and won the day every time. The bill passed Congress, and already over 330 candidates for office face disqualification!

One Brazilian member wrote to us when the law was passed, saying:

I have never been as proud of the Brazilian people as I am today! Congratulations to all that have signed. Today I feel like an actual citizen with political power. — Silvia (more…)

School chaplains only certain with Abbott as PM

Senator Ron BoswellMedia Release from Senator Ron Boswell, The National Senator for Queensland

2 August 2010

“The only way to be sure of keeping your school chaplain is to elect a Coalition government,” said The Nationals’ Senator Ron Boswell today.  “Tony Abbott is committed to keeping the program going at present funding levels of $165m over three years.”

“Labor on the other hand has reduced funding which is designed to finish in 2011. There are no promises beyond a departmental review.”

“Chaplains play a valuable role in schools, supporting students and school communities by offering pastoral care and guidance.”

“The National School Chaplaincy Program was introduced by the former Coalition Government and enabled schools to employ a part-time school chaplain, with the purpose of providing pastoral care and non-denominational spiritual guidance in schools.”

Senator Boswell said that the program operates in 1,915 schools where the local community has sought to be involved with the program, and enjoys strong support among principals, schools and in the community generally.

The Cordoba Mosque in New York – “A Symbol of the Islamic Conquest of Christian Lands”

By Jacob Thomas

On 18 May, 2010, the Arabic-language online daily Elaph posted an article by an Arab Muslim, in which he decried “The Cordoba Mosque” building project being planned for construction in the vicinity of Ground Zero, in New York City.

Set forth below are excerpts from his article, and from two other articles on this same subject.  My analysis and comments will follow.

The project by Muslims to build a mosque in the United States, close to the place where the 9/11 attack took place, is causing quite a stir. It is worth noting that the name chosen for the mosque is confrontational and provocative. The first Cordoba mosque was built in that Spanish city in the aftermath of the Muslim conquest of Christian Spain. This Islamic “Conquista” was followed by the killings of men, and the enslavement of women, many of whom were carried away to the Arab lands to work as servants and concubines for their Muslim masters.  For both Arabs and Muslims, the history of their conquests remains as a symbol of their past glory, and power. They have no thoughts of remorse or shame, when they recall those heinous crimes that accompanied the colonization of Spain!

Obama’s faith: Christianity or Islam?

Barack ObamaJune 23, 2010 By Pieder Beeli

By his eponymous father and by his Indonesian rearing – where both his school records and the predominant culture was Islamic – Barack Obama has an Islamic heritage.

Yet Obama has publicly professed himself to be a Christian. How do the opposing forces of Islam and Christianity play out in Obama’s mind?

Often we can tell the truth about what someone believes by performing an inferential or forensic analysis. We analyze what is implied rather than what is explicitly stated. This is especially helpful for the case of Obama for whom there are over 150 documented lies.

In light of the Islamic sanction of taqiyya, this sort of analysis could be especially valuable. Taqiyya has its origins in the prophet of Islam who allowed one of his followers to lie in order to kill someone who mocked the prophet.

Central tenet of the faith

When speaking of the origins of Islam, why does Obama use the word “revealed”? In his Cairo speech, Obama said, “I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed”  One does not expect a Christian to suggest that God revealed Islam to Muhammad for the simple reason that if God did such, then Christianity is wrong.

What would the world look like under Shariah law? Find out in Nonie Darwish’s “Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law”

Why would not Obama instead choose to say, “when Islam was invented” or “fabricated – or at least use the more equipoise “when Islam began…”?

I find this especially telling in that I have not been able to find Obama use the term “revealed” to speak of God’s doings in a Judeo-Christian context. For example, I have not heard Obama affirm the central Christian tenet, “The love of God was revealed to us on the cross of Jesus Christ.”

Australian Election – Will God’s shepherds rightly lead His sheep? Pr Daniel

Pastor Danny NalliahDear family & friends in Christ,

The body of Christ and our nation of Australia are at a very critical point in time.

We are facing a pivotal crossroad that will determine our corporate destiny of either exalting God’s righteousness and receiving His favour, or exalting unrighteousness (sin) and receiving His righteous judgment.

In the Church throughout our nation, the sheep desperately need their shepherds to lead from the front, under the authority and direction of the Chief Shepherd Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ. God by His amazing grace has given the Church another prophetic opportunity to see our nation of Australia come back to Jesus through either blessing or persecution. Which do you choose??

In the 2007 Federal Election many were confused as to whether Kevin Rudd was a true Christian or not, but I’m sure time has proven as to what sort of a Christian he was. Firstly, before the election when he refused to directly answer the question by a spectator at the footy finals, “Is Jesus the Son of God?” He replied, “I go to church on Sunday.”

Then at his very last speech in Parliament as PM, he stated in his closing statement, “I better thank the great God and creator of us all, I thank him – or her – as well.” See http://www.theaustralian.com.au/full-transcript-of-kevin-rudds-farewell-speech/story-fn5vfgwx-1225883796571

How can Mr Rudd not realise that the Lord’s prayer starts with “Our Father who art in heaven” when they pray it every day in Parliament? Or was he actually mocking almighty God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit??  You be the judge. (more…)

Media Release: Five reasons why Australians should not vote for Ms Gillard as PM – vote for Labor is a vote for the Greens

PM Julia GillardMedia release – For immediate release

Five reasons why Australians should not vote for Ms Gillard as PM – vote for Labor is a vote for the Greens

A vote for Labor means a vote for the Greens, according to Dr Daniel Nalliah, President of Catch the Fire Ministries (CTFM) – an inter-denominational Para-church Ministry with more than 60 bases across Australia and reaching tens of thousands of voters across the nation.

Dr Nalliah has given five reasons why Australians should not vote for Ms Gillard as Prime Minister at the upcoming federal election on August 21.

Central to the objection is the realization that a vote for Labor will essentially be a vote for the Greens. “Do you really want Bob Brown and the Greens to run our country?” Dr Nalliah said.

“Ms Gillard’s close alliance with the Greens means if Australians vote for Labor they will actually be voting for the Greens,” he said.

1. A vote for Labor will be a vote for Greens. “The current alliance that Labor has forged with the Greens is a real disaster for Australia and Australians. We are sure that this election will be a very close one in which Labor will have to go to bed with the Greens to get into power.  This will result in Greens policy constantly reflected in every decision Labor makes. FAITH UNDER FIRE

The Attorney general has been asked to investigate arrests of Christians – State representative says in his speech, religious rights ‘can’t be just pushed aside’

A lawmaker in Michigan is calling on the state attorney general to investigate the arrests of four Christians at a recent Arab festival in the city of Dearborn, saying they were just “engaging festival goers in conversation about religion on public property.”

The call comes from state Rep. Tom McMillin, who has introduced a resolution to that effect.

His concern is over the arrests of four people during the Arab Festival in Dearborn, where police have been accused of enforcing Islamic law.

Indonesian Muslims Call for Halt to ‘Christianization’

MosqueBy Compass Direct News Sarah Page  – Sat 3 July 2010

Muslim organizations in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday (June 27) declared their intention to establish paramilitary units in local mosques and a “mission center” to oppose “ongoing attempts to convert people to Christianity,” according to the national Antara news agency.

“If the Muslims in the city can unite, there will be no more story about us being openly insulted by other religions,” Ahmad Salimin Dani, head of the Bekasi Islamic Missionary Council, announced at the gathering. “The center will ensure that Christians do not act out of order.”

Observing an increasing number of house churches, Muslim organizations have accused Bekasi Christians of aggressive proselytizing. The Rev. Simon Timorason of the West Java Christian Communication Forum (FKKB), however, told Compass that most Christians in the area do not proselytize and meet only in small home fellowships due to the lack of officially recognized worship venues.

Many Christian seminary graduates prefer to remain on Java rather than relocate to distant islands, Timorason added, making West Java the ideal place to launch new home-based fellowships for different denominations. But neighbors see only the multiplication of churches, he said, and therefore suspect Muslims are converting to the Christian faith.

“The ideal solution is to have one building with a permit to be used by different denominations in each housing complex,” Timorason said. “If every denomination wants their own church in the same area, it’s a problem.”

Kanti Prajogo, chairman of the Congress committee, had hoped to present a written declaration of intent to city officials at the mosque gathering, but officials did not respond to his invitation, according to The Jakarta Post.

Around 200 people attended the June 20 Congress, representing local organizations such as the Bekasi Interfaith Dialogue Forum, the Bekasi Movement Against Apostasy, the local chapters of Muhammadiyah and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) – two of Indonesia’s largest Muslim organizations – and the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), well known for its aggressive opposition to Christians and other non-Muslim groups.
