Franklin Graham Says US Is ‘in a Mess’ Because Politicians Have ‘Turned Their Backs on God’

Evangelist Franklin Graham discusses politics with CNN, Nov. 14, 2012The Christian Post – By Michael Gryboski – October 16, 2013|

Prominent evangelical leader and son of the famous evangelist Rev. Billy Graham has stated that the United States is “in a mess” because America’s politicians “have turned their backs on God.”

Rev. Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, told Newsmax TV on Monday about why he believes the United States is in its present situation.

“Our country is in a mess, no question, and it seems like we’re just in an ever-tightening spiral downward, and it doesn’t seem as if anybody is listening to what is happening,” said Graham.

“We, as a nation, we’ve turned our back on God. Politicians have turned their backs on God. They have taken God out of our schools, out of just about everything you can imagine, and now we find ourselves in great danger.”

Also presently the head of the philanthropic organization Samaritan’s Purse, Graham reiterated these remarks for CBN News on Wednesday.

In that interview, Graham saw “moral decay” and “economic decay” as being specific parts of the problem facing the U.S. due to people turning away from God.

Evangelist Will Graham brings message of hope to Japan

Will Graham in Koriyama, FukushimaPublished 03 October 2013  |  Christian Newswire – Christianity Today

Evangelist Will Graham proclaimed the Gospel this weekend to an area of the world that has been devastated by an earthquake, a tsunami, and now a massive leak of radiation. Into this seemingly dark situation, the hope of Jesus was shared with the 3,181 Japanese in attendance at the two-day Celebration of Hope Fukushima with Will Graham, and 188 came forward at the invitation to commit their lives to Christ.

Prior to the event there were only a reported 4,100 Christians in the entire prefecture of Fukushima.

Seventy area churches — including 26 from the host city of Koriyama, and 44 from other locations in Fukushima prefecture — partnered together with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to host the event inside the College Memorial Hall on the campus of Koriyama Women’s University.

On March 11, 2011, the prefecture of Fukushima became known to the world. A 9.0 magnitude earthquake rocked the area, followed by a deadly tsunami which swept away houses and claimed the lives of more than 15,000 Japanese. The subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant released radiation into the air and water, driving people from their homes.

“I know that you’ve experienced a lot of turmoil. I can tell you this, there’s a God that understands. He sees you and knows you right now,” said evangelist Will Graham to the amassed crowd. “Tonight I want you to know that Jesus Christ loves you. He wants to give you a new beginning; a fresh life.”

Prophecy Scholar: America At The Crossroads

America as the crossroadsPaul McGuire http://www.wnd.com/

America faces two futures, says internationally-recognized prophecy expert and Fox News, CNN and History Channel commentator Paul McGuire in his new book, “A Prophecy of the Future of America.”

In one scenario, the church and the nation turns back to God and experiences what world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham calls an end-times “great spiritual awakening.”In the other, America doesn’t repent of its immorality and experiences a “crisis of unprecedented proportions” – a complete economic collapse, a surprise nuclear or terrorist attack or a wave of devastating earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, solar flares and other cataclysmic disasters.“Billy Graham is the closest thing we have in America to a genuine prophet of God, and I believe God is using him to issue a prophetic warning and a prophetic message of hope to America,” said McGuire, who hosted the nationally syndicated “Paul McGuire Show” for a decade.“It is one every one of us should heed, and I totally agree with him, I support what he’s doing, and I urge everyone to get involved in the kind of repentance he’s calling for,” McGuire said. “I personally urge everyone to get involved because this is the only hope for America.”

If judges ban religion from our courts, guess who gets to play God…

Can it be that the judges have decided to replace God with their own views, asks Peter HitchensMail Online By Peter Hitchens 3 November 2013

For what exactly is it that holds up the law? Why should parents have charge over their children, teachers over their pupils? Why should we stop  at zebra crossings if we’re in a hurry? Why give a seat to a pregnant woman or an old  man? Lots don’t. Why pay your debts or your taxes, if you can get out of it?

Authority, and the test of  what was right or wrong, used to come from the Christian religion. But Sir James Munby, a distinguished High Court Justice, is the keenest of several judges to say that is all finished now.

He says ‘Once upon a time, the perceived function of the judges was to promote virtue and discourage vice and immorality.’ But he adds: ‘I doubt one would now hear that from the judicial bench.’

Idoubt it too. Lord Justice Laws said back in 2010 that providing legal protection to one religion over another would be ‘deeply unprincipled’. ‘This must be so, since in the eye of everyone save the believer, religious faith is necessarily subjective,’ he remarked.

Of course, that’s so in a way. Faith is a choice. But the respect given to Lord Justice Laws and Sir James Munby is much more subjective, as is the set of beliefs which seat them on the Bench and pay their salaries.

Take Women Out of the Box

Mimi Haddad

It’s time the American church stopped arguing about female roles and started empowering women for ministry.

The debate over whether God equips and calls women to serve in positions of spiritual leadership is not over. In 2008, some of the same Christians who were delighted to see Sarah Palin run beside John McCain were also reluctant to welcome women to the pulpit on Sunday morning. And when Gospel Today magazine published an issue with women preachers on the cover, more than 100 Christian bookstores removed the magazine from their counters.

Clearly some Christians believe a woman can lead a country but not a church. But what does Scripture say? Does God’s Word make a distinction between a woman’s spiritual and secular leadership?

Consider Deborah, whose service as a judge and prophet influenced all of Israel. Her leadership and spiritual insight were so significant that the men of Israel refused to go into battle without her (Judg. 4:6-9). She is quoted in Scripture as saying, “Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, a mother in Israel” (5:7, TNIV). On a regular basis, as “a prophet … [who] was leading Israel at that time,” she “held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided” (4:4-5, emphasis added).

John McCain and ‘Allahu Akbar’

Freedom Center – David Horowitz – September 4, 2013 By Robert Spencer

Tuesday morning, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) got a bit hot under the collar when Brian Kilmeade of Fox News noted that the Syrian rebels whom Barack Obama and McCain want to aid militarily were shouting “Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar!” as rockets hit Syrian government offices. McCain’s response to Kilmeade demonstrated not only his ignorance of Islam, but his abysmal misjudgment of what is happening in Syria. And on the basis of that ignorance, he is aiding Obama’s rush to yet another war.

“I have a problem,” Kilmeade said, “helping those people screaming that after a hit.” That incensed McCain, who shot back: “Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying ‘thank God? Thank God?’ That’s what they’re saying. Come on! Of course they’re Muslims, but they’re moderates and I guarantee you they are moderates.”

Wrong on all counts. In the first place, it does not mean “thank God,” as McCain seems to have affirmed when he said, “That’s what they’re saying.” Allahu akbar means “Allah is greater” – not, as it is often translated, “God is great.” The significance of this is enormous, as it is essentially a proclamation of superiority and supremacism. Allah is greater – than any of the gods of the infidels, and Islam is superior to all other religions.

Al-Islam.org states this obliquely: “Allahu akbar implies that God is superior to all tangible and intangible, temporal and celestial beings.” This may seem to be an innocuous theological statement until one recalls that Islam has always had a political aspect, and Islamic jihadists always shout “Allahu akbar” when attacking infidels. It is a declaration of the superiority of their god and their way of life over those of their victims. 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta also stated that it was meant to make the infidels afraid. He wrote instructions to jihadists that were found in his baggage: “Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.”

FOUR FATAL FLAWS that RUIN MINISTRIES

by J. Lee Grady – Charisma Magazine – 17th October 2013

Our movement began unravelling a few years ago because of flawed leadership. We will not recover until we clean up our act.

I spend a lot of time investing in young leaders-and I constantly urge them to learn from the mistakes we made in the previous move of God. I appreciate the positive things the Holy Spirit did during the charismatic movement, but we made a mess because we didn´t lead with integrity.

The apostle Paul gave us a crash course in leadership in his second letter to the Corinthians. While studying that epistle recently, I identified four of the biggest mistakes we made during the charismatic revival. I pray we’ve learned our lesson so we can avoid these flaws in the next season.

1. Charlatanism. We charismatics lost our credibility during the past 30 years because certain greedy preachers manipulated their audiences to pad their own pockets. Just as a little leaven spreads to the whole lump of dough, the charlatans ruined it for all of us.

The apostle Paul told the Corinthians, “For we are not like many, peddling the Word of God” (2 Cor. 2:17, NASB). The Greek word for peddling, kapeleuo, means “to make money by selling; to corrupt; to get gain by teaching divine truth.” How many well-known charismatic preachers started out well but ended up as pitiful peddlers, begging for dollars to pay for luxury cars and mansions they felt they needed to prove their importance? (And now some of these guys have their own reality show, The Preachers of L.A., which airs in October and features Noel Jones and Clarence McClendon.) (more…)

Billy Graham sounds alarm for 2nd Coming

Evangelist Billy GrahamBy Troy Anderson – World Net Daily – 23rd October 2013

Just as Noah did in ancient times, world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham is sounding the alarm that the Second Coming is “near” and signs of the end of the age are “converging now for the first time since Jesus made those predictions.”

Earlier this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the United Nations General Assembly “biblical prophecies are being realized.”

And last week, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., claimed the world has entered the last days.

“When you see up is down and right is wrong, when this is happening, we were told this: that these days would be as the days of Noah,” Bachmann said.

The remarks by Graham, Netanyahu and Bachmann come amid a steadily rising wave of public interest in the end times, as demonstrated by recent polls and New York Times and Amazon.com bestselling books such as “The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future,” by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, and “Four Blood Moons: Something is About to Change,” by Pastor John Hagee.

In September, a poll by the Ventura, Calif.-based Barna Group found 4 in 10 Americans – and 77 percent of evangelical Christians – believe the “world is now living in the biblical end times.”

Now, a new wave of end-times predictions for 2014 and 2015 involving blood moons on Jewish holy days and prophetically significant events on the Shemitah – the ancient biblical year of the Sabbath – are igniting even more interest in humanity’s ultimate fate.

Throw in next year’s reboot of the “Left Behind” film featuring Nicolas Cage and the cinematic destruction of biblical proportions in “Noah,” starring Russell Crowe, and last-days fever is back with a mainstream vengeance.

Revival in Iceland: “It’s Like a Child Has Been Born”

Trevor Freeze (Oct 1, 2013)

Despite a huge, concerted effort by homosexual activists to derail Franklin Graham’s Festival of Hope, dramatic testimonies from thousands reveal tears, brokenness, salvation—assurance of a “new beginning” for Iceland.

(Reykjavik, Iceland)—Last Sunday, as Icelanders came streaming down the aisle responding to a Gospel message from Franklin Graham, an emotional night left tears of joy and real hope for a revival to sweep this nation.

It normally takes a lot to move Skúli Barker to tears.

But what he witnessed on Sunday night in his country…

He’ll be the first to tell you, that simply doesn’t happen in Iceland.

“My wife was sobbing next to me,” Skúli said. “And I started to cry. It’s just amazing.”

It started off as a few souls responding at the end of Franklin Graham’s Gospel message and before he knew it, throngs were flooding the stage, elbow-to-elbow, hundreds of people packed in, aisles backed up.

People wanting to meet Jesus. And willing to say that out loud. Pray that out loud.

Atheists Continue Relentless Attack on the Ground Zero Cross

Ground Zero Cross

Matthew Clark (Oct 18, 2013)

Simply put, the Constitution is not an atheist manifesto.

Following a big victory for the Ground Zero Cross earlier this year, where a federal judge threw out an atheist lawsuit to tear down the Cross, angry atheists are now appealing that ruling to a federal appeals court.

The Ground Zero Cross, two intersecting steel beams found in the wreckage of the World Trade Center, became a symbol of hope and healing for first responders on the ground in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and for thousands of Americans across the nation.

Atheists, from the particularly vitriolic American Atheists, demanded that it be torn down. They attempted to make a federal case of their hurt feelings and lost.

The trial court correctly noted that the Cross was a historic artifact – an actual piece of 9/11 history. It really meant something to those affected. (more…)

Blunt words about Muslim backwardness

Mark Steyn – Jewish World Review Sept. 9, 2013/ 5 Tishrei, 5774

In 2010, the bestselling atheist Richard Dawkins, in the “On Faith” section of the Washington Post, called the pope “a leering old villain in a frock” perfectly suited to “the evil corrupt organization” and “child-raping institution” that is the Catholic Church. Nobody seemed to mind very much.

Three years later, in a throwaway Tweet, Professor Dawkins observed that “all the world’s Muslims have fewer Nobel Prizes than Trinity College, Cambridge. They did great things in the Middle Ages, though.” This time round, the old provocateur managed to get a rise out of folks. Almost every London paper ran at least one story on the “controversy.”

The Independent’s Owen Jones fumed, “How dare you dress your bigotry up as atheism. You are now beyond an embarrassment.”

The best-selling author Caitlin Moran sneered, “It’s time someone turned Richard Dawkins off and then on again. Something’s gone weird.” The Daily Telegraph’s Tom Chivers beseeched him, “Please be quiet, Richard Dawkins, I’m begging.”

None of the above is Muslim. Indeed, they are, to one degree or another, members of the same secular liberal media elite as Professor Dawkins. Yet all felt that, unlike Dawkins’s routine jeers at Christians, his Tweet had gone too far. It’s factually unarguable: Trinity graduates have amassed 32 Nobel prizes, the entire Muslim world a mere 10.

TD Jakes, Oprah to Continue Talk on Fatherless Children Sunday

By Anugrah Kumar, Christian Post Contributor – September 8, 2013

Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor at The Potter’s House church in Texas, and Oprah Winfrey will carry on their conversation on fatherless children on “Oprah’s Lifeclass” show Sunday evening, focusing on the healing process. The show was taped during Jakes’ recent three-day MegaFest.

The show’s website features a preview clip, showing Jakes telling an audience at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, that children who grew up without their fathers around them should try to “understand the wounds of your father,” as that would help them heal faster.

The show, to be aired Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on OWN, is the second of the two episodes taped during the MegaFest event on Aug. 29 in Dallas.

“The problem is generational,” Jakes says. “It’s not situational. It didn’t just start with you. There is a reason when you go to the physician today, he asks you about the health of your grandmother and your mother and your aunt. Your story doesn’t begin with you. It started before you got here.”

Nick Vujicic Shares About ‘Divine Appointment’ With Limbless Girl in Malaysia

Charisma News – 9/5/2013 Gina Meeks

Evangelist Nick Vujicic shared an inspirational story of “divine appointment” on his Facebook page Tuesday.

Vujicic, who was born with no arms or legs, is in the midst of a two-week Christian outreach tour of several Asian countries.

With a photo of the family in the capital city of Malaysia, Vujicic begins, “Friends, I have an incredible story to share about a family I met in Kuala Lumpur.”

He goes on to say the family drove seven hours to meet him but found the event was filled when they arrived.

“After patiently waiting for more than 4 hours for us to leave the venue, they managed to track down which van I was in,” he continues. “That in itself was no easy task, as there was quite a bit of commotion exiting the event, and our convoy was made up of three different vans which carry the team and our gear.

“They followed behind us, planning on saying hello whenever we reached our destination. When we stopped for fuel, they came running out of their car. Our host, Joshua, saw them coming up to the van and said to me, ‘Wow, you’ll never believe what I’m seeing. There’s a family with a girl who has no arms and no legs, and they’re coming to see you.’

Top 10 Racist African-Americans

Frontpage – August 27, 2013 By

Sadly, racism is very much alive in America — among influential black Americans.

It was very much on display Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial where prominent black activists gathered a few days ahead of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I have a dream” speech in order to advance their careers by pretending to care about the state of race relations in the nation today.

Instead of simply using the opportunity to honor the work of his father in a dignified way, King’s son, Martin Luther King III, cheapened it by attempting to stir up racial hatred. He said the Trayvon Martin killing last year, ruled by a jury to be a justifiable homicide in which race played no role, shows that America is a deeply racist country.

“The task is not done, the journey is not complete,” he said. “The vision preached by my father a half-century ago was that his four little children would no longer live in a nation where they would judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
