Pop star Katy Perry’s performance of “Dark Horse” during the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday evening has shocked some fans as it displayed dark satanic imagery, including witchcraft and demons.

Perry was dressed as a witch and wore a Knights of Templar cross across her chest during the performance. She also pole-danced on a broom, and was finally burned at the stake towards the end of her controversial ensemble on the awards show, which is watched by families across the world.

The singer’s dark performance shocked many, even prompting E! News to tweet: “Um, did we just witness actual witchcraft during Katy Perry’s #Grammys performance?”

Fans took to Twitter to express their opinions about Perry’s controversial “Dark Horse” performance.

Does Fatherlessness Produce Faithless Atheists?

A Catholic psychologist says absentee fathers can damage ability to form a relationship with a heavenly father. (Sara K Flickr Creative Commons) 1/14/2014 Kimberly Winston/RNS

A once-popular book that links atheism with shoddy fathering is getting a second life with a new publisher, thanks, in part, to the rise of nonbelief in the United States.

Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism by Catholic psychologist Paul C.Vitz posits that “intense atheists” throughout history—Nietzsche, Voltaire and Madalyn Murray O’Hair—had absent or rotten fathers. This, he argues, damaged their ability to form a relationship with a heavenly father.

Vitz also holds that many notable believers—Renaissance man Blaise Pascal, anti-slavery activist William Wilberforce and Nazi martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer, among others—had great relationships with their dads, and were therefore more able to build relationships with God.

“We need to understand atheism has a lot to do with our emotional attitudes towards life, other people and a lot of other things,” Vitz said from his office at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, a Catholic graduate school in Arlington, Va. “I think that is an important thing for atheists and believers alike to take into consideration.”

Study: Obama Helped Sway Americans in Favor of Gay Marriage; Used LGBT Terms More Than Any Other President

U.S. President Barack Obama addresses his year-end news conference in the White House briefing room in Washington, December 20, 2013.By Stoyan Zaimov, Christian Post Reporter – January 25, 2014

President Barack Obama has helped sway Americans in support of same-sex marriage, according to a newly released study by the Human Rights Campaign, which notes that he used the word “gay” 272 times in public speeches, more than any of his predecessors.

“Words matter an enormous amount, and when President Obama uses his platform to declare that LGBT people are just as American as anyone else, it has a huge and historic effect. President Obama has helped the American people get to know LGBT people on a personal level, and evidence suggests that when people know us, they don’t want to discriminate against us,” said HRC President Chad Griffin.

“President Obama has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of LGBT people, and the power of his rhetoric has been an essential part of that legacy.”

The report noted that American support for gay marriage has risen from 40 percent in 2008, when Obama took office, to 53 percent in 2013, pointing to Gallup poll statistics. It added that Obama used words like “lesbian,” “gay,” “bisexual” and “transgender” in his public statements more than former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan did.

Confirmed: The United States Is the Chief Facilitator of Christian Persecution

Raymond Ibrahim is author of Crucified Again Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians. The Christian Post – By Raymond Ibrahim, CP Op-Ed Contributor – January 21, 2014|

Prominent indicators confirm that the U.S. is the chief facilitator of the persecution of Christians around the world today.

According to the recently released 2014 World Watch List, which ranks the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted, Syria is the third worst nation in the world in which to be Christian, Iraq is fourth, Afghanistan fifth, and Libya 13th. All four countries receive the strongest designation, “extreme persecution” (other designations are “severe,” “moderate,” and “sparse” persecution).

Aside from being so closely and harshly ranked, these four nations have something else in common: heavy U.S. involvement. Three-Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya-were “liberated” thanks to U.S. forces, while in the fourth, Syria, the U.S. is actively sponsoring “freedom fighters” against the regime, many of whom would be better labeled “terrorists.”

SCOTUS puts the chill on activist judge’s decision to overturn Utah’s marriage amendment

Unanimously, the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices agreed that one person shouldn't have the power to create same-sex marriage in a state that democratically outlawed it.by Tony Perkins  – Jan 08, 2014 18:08 EST

While the country shivered through frigid temperatures Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court put something else on ice: the same-sex “marriages” of Utah couples. After two weeks of chaos, America’s most powerful court put the brakes on one rogue judge’s decision to single-handedly overturn the state’s marriage amendment.

The December 20th ruling took several people by surprise — including Governor Gary Herbert (R), who called out District Court Judge Robert Shelby as an “activist” who jeopardized the state’s right “to define marriage through ordinary democratic channels.” For Utah, it was the second major marriage headline in less than a month — thrusting the state back into the spotlight it left when Judge Clark Waddoups stunned everyone by decriminalizing polygamy.

Unanimously, the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices agreed that one person shouldn’t have the power to create same-sex “marriage” in a state that democratically outlawed it.

Of course, marriage has always been a hot-button issue in Utah, dating back to the state’s earliest days. And that isn’t likely to change now, as Utah becomes the venue for the first challenge to a state marriage law since the Supreme Court struck down part of DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) last June. When Governor Herbert gears up for an appeal to Judge Shelby’s overreach, he’ll have new state attorney general, Sean Reyes, to lead the charge. Picked to take over the post when his predecessor resigned, Reyes promised, “My intention … is to continue to defend the laws that have been passed by the people of Utah.”

U.S. State Department condemns Nigeria for banning same-sex ‘marriage,’ gay clubs

The Obama administration has made promoting homosexuality around the world a priorityby Kirsten Andersen – Wed Jan 15, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 15, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and other top diplomatic brass are criticizing the African nation of Nigeria after President Goodluck Jonathan signed a new law banning same-sex “marriage.”

Both Secretary Kerry and his predecessor, Hillary Clinton, have said that promoting the gay “rights” agenda around the world is a “top priority” for U.S. foreign policymakers.

“The United States is deeply concerned by Nigeria’s enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act,” Secretary Kerry said in a statement Monday.   “It is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 Constitution.”

Evangelist Benny Hinn’s Return to India for Prayer Conference Sparks Protests, Allegations of ‘Hidden Agenda’

Evangelist Benny HinnBy Nicola Menzie , Christian Post Reporter – January 7, 2014|

Benny Hinn, controversial evangelist known for his “miracle healing crusades,” is one of the main speakers at a Christian Prayer Conference being held this month in Bangalore, India. As with his last visit in 2005, Hinn’s engagement has set off protests among locals concerned that the charismatic preacher will be flying into the country with “a hidden agenda.”

An estimated 2,000 Hindus gathered in Bangalore, in the State of Karnataka, on Friday, Jan. 3 to demand that government officials bar Hinn from attending the Christian Prayer Conference. The event, scheduled for Jan. 15-17, is being hosted by the local Bethel Assembly of God Church.

“Hinn is coming to Karnataka with a hidden agenda of converting Hindus to Christianity as he did when he visited Bangalore in 2005. Several organizations are secretly working for the success of the event,” representatives of protesting groups were quoted as saying.

Bethel Assembly of God Church organizers insist that the Christian Prayer Conference will not be a “healing crusade,” but that ministry participants will provide prayer for the sick, according to the Bangalore Mirror. The publication notes that the entry fee for the prayer meeting is $13 (850 Indian rupees), less than seven percent of the average monthly income in India.

When Hinn visited Bangalore in 2005 for a “Festival of Blessings” event, several court cases were reportedly filed against the evangelist with plaintiffs claiming his purpose for being in the country was to convert locals to Christianity. The U.S. evangelist’s presence was so disturbing to some that protesters reportedly set fires throughout the city, and 10,000 law enforcement officials were deployed at the Jakkur airfield where the crusade was attended by more than 7 million people.

Abortion – the truth about grief and breast cancer. . .

Pro-LifeSalt Shakers: E-News

With Victoria and Tasmania now allowing abortion up to birth, and forcing doctors to refer a patient to a doctor who they know will perform and abortion, it is vital that we know the truth about abortion. It is also important that women are provided with all the information – when the Victorian law was passed, amendments aimed at providing that information to women were defeated. Here’s some news from the past month or so…This email has three parts:

First is a moving interview with Anne Lastman, who lives in Melbourne and runs a ministry called ‘Victims of Abortion’. Anne counsels women who are suffering pain and hurt following an abortion, and has written a book titled Redeeming Grief.

The interview was published in National Review Online. The other two parts relate to new evidence about the link between abortion and breast cancer. The latest research comes from China and India.Of particular note is a new book, written by Dr Angela Lanfranchi she has compiled much of the information about the consequences of abortion to a new book titled Complications: Abortion’s impact on women . . .1. Abortion HurtsThe interview with Anne Lastman about the hurt of abortion…

Against all the odds, abortion is losing at the UN

It is something that haunts the days and nights of the UN Population Fund and the International Planned Parenthood FederationLifeSiteNews.com Life, Family and Culture News – by Austin Ruse- Thu Jan 02, 2014

NEW YORK, January 2 (C-FAM) – Pro-abortion forces have spent hundreds of millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of man-hours in the past twenty years and they have not advanced their agenda even a single syllable past what they got at the Cairo Conference in 1994.

Let that sink if for a moment, because it is something that haunts the days and nights of the UN Population Fund and the International Planned Parenthood Federation. They have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to establish an international right to abortion and all they have achieved is vague language on reproductive health and rights that most countries soundly reject as having anything to do with abortion. They are no nearer to an international right to abortion than they were when they began.

It is something that haunts the days and nights of the UN Population Fund and the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

What’s more, they have even begun to see their slight gains fade. Two years ago the UN hosted the 20-year review of the Rio Conference on the environment. Delegates rejected language related to reproductive rights. Hillary Clinton denounced the outcome document as did many other pro-abortion figures including Nafis Sadik, former head of the UN Population Fund.

In the past several months the UN Population Fund has hosted regional conferences in preparation for the upcoming negotiations for new development goals and the 20-year review of the Cairo Conference. These stage-managed regional meetings are full of radical pro-abortion language. How have these documents been received by delegates in New York? With polite disdain.

Businessman’s near-death experience in hell transformed his life

Emerging from comaAugust 29, 2013 – By Mark Ellis of GodreportsBullet lodged in Matthew’s brain

He was attending a business convention with his brother and another family member when random shots sprayed a crowd outside an Atlanta restaurant.

Three intoxicated young men were denied entrance to the eatery and retaliated with a burst of nine-millimeter bullets from an Uzi submachine gun. One of the shots entered the back of Matthew Botsford’s head, lodging itself in the frontal lobe of his brain.

“They were angry, so they took a shot straight up the sidewalk,” says Matthew. “If you took a hypodermic needle, heated it up, and stuck it in your head, that’s what I felt,” he says. “It was a searing hot pain, then things went black.”

His body slammed to the pavement and the last thing he remembers is the cold, hard cement amid “inky” darkness.

He was at the edge of death – if not clinically dead — three times after his heart stopped once on the sidewalk, once in the ambulance, and once in the emergency room of Piedmont Hospital. But weak vital signs returned and doctors induced a coma that lasted 27 days to reduce brain swelling.

Matthew’s wife, Nancy, described the horrifying ordeal in her book, “A Day in Hell; Death to Life to Hope” (Tate Publishing).

President Obama, Are You Really a Christian?

President Obama11/19/2013 Larry Tomczak

Mr. President, I thank you for this opportunity to share the following with you.

After graduating from Cleveland State University, where I was privileged to serve as the president of our student body, I was selected for a post at the AFL-CIO headquarters across the street from the White House, your home. One day I bumped into President Nixon as he exited his limo, and I asked him this question: “Mr. President, do you read the Bible?”

The smile he tried to swallow surfaced on his face as he replied with a wink and a nod, “I not only read it, I even quote from it sometimes!”

Although Richard Nixon knew Bible verses, when I reflect on that interchange I still wonder if he was really a born-again Christian. The fruit and witness of his life are a tragedy and make it suspect, so I leave the eternal destiny of this departed leader in the hands of God.

President Obama, would you allow me to share with you that I and scores of others have similar doubts about your conversion and the authenticity of your Christianity? I say up front that while I’m in disagreement with many of your policies and beliefs, I do love you and pray for you every single day. I affirm your God-given leadership gifting and your exemplary role as a husband and a father to your two lovely daughters. Yet I must be honest with you: I’m not sure you’re really a Christian.

Mothers, Love Your Children

Mothers, Love Your ChildrenSpiritled Women – 9/27/2013 – Devi Titus

I’ve often wondered why the apostle Paul, writing to Pastor Titus, told him the things that should be taught to women and men. In this list for women, recorded in Titus, chapter 2, he says (paraphrased), “This is sound doctrine. … I am writing these things so the Word of God will not be dishonored.”

Paul tells older women how to live and that their responsibility is to train younger women.  In the list—we could call it the curriculum—one of the odd things to me is that he tells older women to teach younger women to love their children (v. 4).

It seems abnormal to think of a mother not loving her children. Yet in these times, we are witnessing mothers killing their children, abandoning their children, neglecting their children and abusing their children. Evidently this was happening at that time as well. Now mothers even rid themselves of their unborn babies.

Mothers are going their own way, selfishly seeking their own fulfillment to the ruin of their children. Observing the behaviors of many mothers, it seems they think children have no feelings, memories or understanding, while all the while they are scarring the emotions of their children’s souls.

Reinhard Bonnke: God ‘Will Shake America’

Reinhard Bonnke preaches Friday night in Orlando, Fla. (Sean Roberts Charisma News)9/27/2013 Shawn A. Akers – Charisma News

Elizabeth Simmons, a freelance journalist for the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, Fla., came to Orlando to the Christ For All Nations Good News Crusade on her own dime and with a two-fold agenda.

Not only did she want to help hundreds of thousands of Times-Union readers to discover Jesus through her news reports from Friday and Saturday, but she also came to support her spiritual mother, Elizabeth “Bebe” Brown, who rode to Orlando with a friend from Tennessee.

Brown, whom Simmons has known for two years and credits her with helping turn her life around for Jesus, is physically blind and came to Orlando believing for her healing.

“Faith–it’s all about faith,” Simmons said. “We need to not limit God and start believing that He will do what He said He is going to do. I love God with everything I am and I have. I know He can save and He can restore, and that’s what we’re believing for.”

Bonnke and his CfaN team held its initial American Good News Crusade Friday night in front of more than 10,000 at the Amway Center.

Since 1987, 75 million souls in Africa have come to salvation through the ministry of Christ for All Nations (CfaN). Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke said God is ready to pour out the same blessing on the United States.
