You Mustn’t Mention God… Council Bans Church From Putting Up Notices About Its Meetings

Roman Catholic Our Lady of Christians parish church in CamdenBy Daily Mail Reporter on 16th September 2009

A Christian campaign group has been banned from pinning up notices about its meetings in libraries or community centres.

The activists were told their posters advertising talks about climate change could not be shown in public because they mentioned Christianity and God.

Officials declared that the flyers for a talk on ‘climate change is a Christian issue’ and and another by a spokesman for the Christian Ecology Link were in conflict with town hall policy against the promotion of religious ideas. (more…)

Ethiopian Convert Remains Jailed For Handing Out Bibles

Wednesday, 16 September 2009 01:45 PM EDT Simba Tian / Compass Direct News News

A convert from Islam who has led a push for Muslim-Christian understanding in Ethiopia has been in jail for nearly four months since his arrest for “malicious” distribution of Bibles.

Christian sources in Ethiopia said that, contrary to Ethiopian law, 39-year-old Bashir Musa Ahmed has not been formally charged since his arrest on May 23 in Jijiga, capital of Somali Region Zone Five, a predominantly Muslim area in eastern Ethiopia. Zonal police arrested him after he was accused of providing Muslims with Somali-language Bibles bearing covers that resemble the Quran, the sources said.

An Ethiopian national, Ahmed is known as a bold preacher of Christianity and is credited with opening discussion of the two faiths between Christian and Muslim leaders. He is well-known in the area as a scholar of Islam, but his case has gone largely unreported in Ethiopia. (more…)

A Muslim prayer rally on Capitol Hill Friday drew between 3,000 and 5,000 participants, a figure well below the 50,000 organizers hoped to attract.

Among those gathered were several dozen protestors. Some stood at the rear of the crowd holding Bibles and praying. Others yelled “repent” from across the street, where they gathered with banners and crosses, the Washington Post reported.

Anti-Abortion March / More Holy Spirit Fire in Melbourne

March for Babies Dear family & friends in Christ,Anti-Abortion Rally at Victorian Parliament

We wish to thank all the Catch the Fire supporters in addition to the many other pro-life participants from many Christian churches, ministries, denominations, social and political organizations, for coming out on Saturday the 10th of October to march in solidarity through the streets of Melbourne in support of the unborn and to raise a voice for the voiceless in Australia!

The ‘March for the Babies’ was a great success with some estimates of several thousand people marching and then attending the public rally outside the Victorian State Parliament building. We want to especially applaud the organisers for doing a fantastic job and of course we thank the Father in heaven for blessing us with a beautiful sunny day with bright blue skies!

A few state politicians and the other speakers at the rally spoke very well in making a clear stand that the voice will not go away to protect the unborn.  The Pro-Life movement will continue to fight to overturn the ‘De-criminalization of Abortion Law’ which was passed one year ago in Victoria.

Worship Is More Than A Song

Worshiping the LordTuesday, 08 September 2009 – Charisma Magazine by Darlene Zschech

Worshiping our Savior, Jesus Christ, is fundamental to living a faith-filled, Spirit-led Christian life. There are multiple worship methods, plans and styles that vary among cultures and geographic boundaries.

The Lord enjoys the diversity of sincere worship when expressed through His Spirit and in truth. Worship should be a way of life, with many facets of expression.

Some worship leaders declare that a certain defining style of worship is the only correct way to worship the Lord, but that is a narrow view of His inexhaustible riches. Music and song are ways we can praise God’s name, but the Word says we can worship God with feasting (see Ps. 22:29) and with sacrifices and offerings (see Is. 19:21), among other means.

Australians Vote Jesus As Most Significant Figure In History

Australia For Jesus!

Research reveals Australia is a nation of believers and full of prayer Sydney, 1 October 2009: Believer or non-believer 54% of Australians ranked Jesus as the number one most influential person in history beating Albert Einstein who came in at second place (16%) and Charles Darwin who was ranked third (9%). Research commissioned by www.allaboutlife.com.au revealed Australia is a nation of believers with approximately 5 in 6 (83%) responding that Jesus was a real figure from history. Of these believers 43% believed Jesus had miraculous powers and he was the son of God. Australia still has faith with 2 in 5 Australians stating they actually practice a religion and only 27% not believing in a God or universal power of any sort.

JC beats the GFC

Whilst over 3 in 5 (63%) Australians did not believe Jesus would return to Earth one day, some Aussies thought that if Jesus were alive today he would struggle in the GFC with 1 in 10 (10%) stating he would be unemployed.  However more respondents had faith and felt that Jesus would beat the GFC answering his most likely occupation would be a charity worker (23%), followed by 18% of Australians responding Jesus would stick to his previous trade as a carpenter.

Religious or not, when times get tough, Aussies pray

Taking Jesus To The Fringes: The Fatherless Generation

Ministering to youth on the streets

Friday, 28 August 2009 Ed Donnally News – Featured News

It’s 11:30 p.m. and a Hope for Homeless Youth (HHY) ministry team gathers on Hollywood’s teeming Walk of Fame for its regular Friday outreach. They’ll pass out food and ministry information, witness to hundreds, and invite each young person to return and enter their one-year discipleship program. As usual, Director Clayton Golliher will sleep in a nearby parking lot, his sleeping bag a few feet from several dozen homeless youth.

“They’re a product of the breakup of the American family,” he says. “More of them are throwaway than runaway. Some love the freedom, but most have been abused and rejected.”

Experts estimate 1.5 million youth live on our nation’s streets; each year 5,000 will die of suicide, homicide and accidental drug overdose, and at least 40 percent are not wanted at home. One in four will visit Hollywood.

Converts From Islam Jailed, Pursued In Somalia’s Breakaway Region

SomaliaThursday, 17 September 2009 Simba Tian / Compass Direct News

A convert from Islam in Somalia’s self-declared state of Somaliland has been jailed for distributing Christian materials, and another is on the run from both family members and police upset over his new faith.

Christian sources said Somaliland native Osman Nour Hassan was arrested on Aug. 3 for providing Christian literature in Pepsi village, on the outskirts of the breakaway region’s capital city, Hargeisa.

Promotion of any religion other than Islam in Somaliland is prohibited, contrary to international standards for religious freedom such as Article 18 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 5(1-2) of the Somaliland constitution states that Islam is the state religion and prohibits the promotion of any other faith, according to the U.S. Department of State’s 2008 International Religious Freedom Report, and Article 313 outlines penalties for Muslims who change their religion.

Dying For Their Faith

Jonathan FalwellJonathan Falwell – WorldNetDaily- Posted: August 15, 2009

Most people wouldn’t think to look to Congress for spiritual insight, but recently one member of the U.S. House served to remind us of the price many Christians pay for their faith in Jesus Christ.

On July 30, Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., spoke from the House floor to pay tribute to Christian martyr Watchman Nee of China. Rep. Smith noted that Nee is known around the world for his Christian witness and his books are still banned in China today. He was imprisoned for his faith in 1952 and died 20 years later in a labor camp.

In his speech, Rep. Smith stated, “… it is estimated that China has more than 100 million Christians, and millions of them consider themselves spiritual heirs of Watchman Nee. Millions more are rightly proud of the contribution Watchman Nee made to global Christianity – he was the first Chinese Christian to exercise an influence on Western Christians – and indeed of his contribution to world spiritual culture. It is sad that the works of Watchman Nee are officially banned in China – even as they are being discovered afresh by a new generation of Western Christians. It is my hope that Watchman Nee’s collected works can be freely published and distributed within China.”
