Half of Brazil’s Population to be Evangelical Christian by 2020

Feb. 20 2011 – Andrea Marcela Madambashi – Christian Post Correspondent

An international missions organization reports that evangelicals are expected to reach 57.4 million in Brazil this year in accordance with the evangelical annual growth rate of 7.42 percent.

Researchers at “Servindo aos Pastores e Líderes” (SEPAL) announced this 2011 figure last Monday based on findings from its groundbreaking study last year that predicted Brazil’s evangelical growth rate over the next decade.

SEPAL had conducted this study utilizing results from Brazil’s Census 2000 survey by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) and other information from a March 2007 study conducted by Datafolha, a major domestic information firm.

Based on figures obtained from both sources, SEPAL concluded that over half of the nation’s population will be evangelical in less than a decade.

“We believe 52 per cent of the population will be evangelical by 2020, or about 109.3 million evangelicals within a total population of 209.3 million,” said SEPAL researcher Luis André Brunet, in an interview with The Christian Post this week.

Japan’s Tragedy Turns Spiritual

Japan Recoveryby Teresa Neumann : Mar 21, 2011 : Mission Network News

“People are engaging in spiritual conversation with strangers. That’s just not typical.”

REPORTER’S NOTE: Although the governor of Tokyo is on record as saying he feared God might be punishing the Japanese people, we at BCN do not jump to that conclusion. Yes, God can punish sin, but given that every people group and every nation on the face of the earth is sinful, the world should have ceased to exist long ago. Above all, God is full of grace and mercy, and His heart is toward the Japanese people in this hour, wanting to draw them to Himself. -Teresa Neumann, BCN.

(Japan)—Warren Janzen, the International Director of SEND International, gave a sobering update on the situation in Japan this week, but notes that the disaster is now taking on a “spiritual tone.”

Janzen said the the governor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara, made a public statement that he feared the Japanese were being “punished.”

“To have a public figure of his stature make a statement like that,” he said, “opens up a public discussion on spiritual things.”

“Some of our missionaries are going out on the street,” he continued, “talking to random people, talking about the earthquake, the tsunami, and the nuclear situation there. People are engaging in spiritual conversation with strangers. That’s just not typical.”

Janzen was also quoted as saying it’s a kairos moment for Japan. “We believe this an appointed time in the presence of God,” he said.

Heaven Is For Real—a Little Boy Shares His Experience “in Heaven”

Colton went to Heaven and came back to earthby Aimee Herd : Mar 16, 2011 : KWGN.com

“His experience in Heaven hasn’t changed [my] son, but because Colton was so young when it happened it has defined his life.” -Todd Burpo

Todd and Sonja Burpo of Imperial, Nebraska were visiting Colorado with their 3-year-old son Colton, when he began complaining of a stomach ache. Despite suggestions of possible appendicitis, he was dismissed, but returned to a hospital two days later, and was eventually rushed into surgery.

It was discovered that his appendix had burst some five days before he was finally diagnosed.

Now his life hung by a thread and his parents hit their knees in prayer. Miraculously, little Colton survived. And, after a couple of surgeries and a difficult recovery, their boy bounced back.

The Koran Riots in Afghanistan: An Indictment of All Islam

NewsReal ^ | April 1, 2011 | Rob Taylor

Posted on Saturday, April 02, 2011 by TheHawksNest

7 United Nations workers were murdered by a crowd of angry Muslims in Afghanistan during protests organized by religious leaders. The clerics drove through the city of Mazar-i-Sharif with loud speakers, demanding that Muslims “protest” the burning of a Koran by a Florida pastor.  Two of the UN workers were beheaded.

The leftist media here is placing the blame squarely on Koran burner Terry Jones while desperately clinging to the myth of the peaceful Muslim protest that “just got out of control”–no doubt hijacked by a that tiny minority of extremists the media thinks is responsible for over 1,000 years of Islamic Imperialism. But when the Left here makes excuses for Muslim barbarity they ignore reality and the internal drives of unreformed Islam that make Muslims predisposed to mayhem and violence.

There is no other religious group on Earth that murders and rapes more people whenever they feel attacked and insulted nor is there one that attacks and insults other religions as regularly. While the Muslims in Afghanistan murdered innocent people because one man in Florida burned a Koran, Saudi authorities tortured and arrested two Indian Christians for praying. During the arrest Saudi religious police trampled the victims’ Bibles and tore the holy books. (more…)

Algeria: Where Revival Refuses to Cease

Church remains after Muslim attackby Aidan Clay : Feb 28, 2011 : ASSIST News

“During that year we went to villages where there were no Christians, we prayed for the village, and after a few months we would hear that there were Believers there. People had dreams, visions; some of them discovered Christian radio programs. We didn’t share the Gospel directly with many people, but God in His way, preached the Gospel. It was like an explosion in all the Kabylie area and it’s continuing now.” -Pastor Raba.

(Tizi Ouzou, Algeria)—As reported in Assist News, last year, an angry mob damaged the Tafat Church in Tizi Ouzou. International Christian Concern (ICC), a Washington DC-based human rights organization, visited Algeria, including Tizi Ouzou, just months after the attack on Tafat Church. The purpose for the visit was to encourage Algeria’s Christians and assist their unmet needs, but as happens more often than not when meeting with persecuted brethren, it was ICC who came away more encouraged.

Meeting with house church pastors in remote villages in the beautiful Kabylie Mountains, they shared stories of God’s work amongst their people and reminisced about Algeria’s great—and enduring—20 year revival.

Pr Daniel & Wife Maryse celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary today

Pastor Daniel & wife MaryseDear family & friends in Christ,

Please join together with us to wish  Pr Daniel & his wife Maryse a very happy anniversary and God’s richest blessings, as they celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary today the 28th of march.

Yesterday at church we had the opportunity to Pray for and Honour this Man & Woman of God, who have endured much for the Kingdom of God  and come through many challenges in life. They have been such a role model to all of us and we thank God for sending them to Australia, to see our nation come back to Jesus.

It is very rare to see a family so committed to the Lord and Pr Daniel’s willingness to keep standing for the truth of the Word of God at a time when there is so much compromise for political correctness.

How the Church is Sending Help to Japan

Earthquakes in Japanby Michael Ireland : Mar 16, 2011 : ASSIST News Service

“It is a good chance to tell people of the peace God provides in such situations.” Ron Stoller

An ANS article notes some of the Christian and missionary organizations that are mobilizing to help Japan. Along with those mentioned in the article who are sending help are: Mercy Corps, Medical Teams International (formerly NW Medical Teams), Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Blessing.

Russ Jones, a twenty-year award winning journalist and correspondent, who freelances for a number of media outlets and who was one of the first Christian reporters to reach the affected areas, says: “Another concern looms as two nuclear reactors exploded in Fukushima Daiichi and Daini after cooling pumps were destroyed, sending clouds of white smoke into the air.”

In his report posted at www.crosswalk.com, Jones says Christian organizations based in Japan are using social networking sites to coordinate relief efforts. (Photo: www.onlinenews4u.com)

One Christian group led by Jonathan Wilson has activated a team of volunteers using Facebook. Christian Relief, Assistance Support and Hope (CRASH Japan) is working closely with JEMA (the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Association), to coordinate a large network of experienced volunteers who live in Japan and are familiar with the nation’s culture and language. Leaders are currently setting up a command center in Tokyo with bases in affected areas. (more…)

A Perspective on the Japan Earthquake

Cindy JacobsCindy Jacobs Newsletters – Prophetic Insight – Tuesday, 22 March 2011

As one looks across the face of the earth today, it doesn’t take a large amount of spiritual discernment to see that things are shaking as has been prophesied over the past few years. Many voices, including mine, have spoken over what is known as the Rim of Fire nations, or the Pacific Rim. These are approximately 40 nations that ring the Pacific with some sort of volcanic activity.

The tragedy in Japan brings this prophetic shaking starkly to the forefront of the news. Many are asking the question, “What is taking place?”

First of all, I know that we must stand in the gap and pray for Japan. The enormity of the loss and the intensity of what has transpired will continue to unfold, and it is hard to grasp with the natural mind.
What do we know? God had warned us that shaking was coming. This doesn’t mean it was His desire for it to happen but that it was more of the biblical fulfillment that He doesn’t do anything without first warning through His servants the prophets (see Amos 3:7) In fact, I along with others prophesied volcanic eruptions would occur in the Pacific Rim.

Nearly 4000 Muslims Attack Christian Homes in Egypt, Torch Church

Assyrian International News Agency | 3/5/2011 | Mary Abdelmassih

(AINA) — A mob of nearly four thousand Muslims has attacked Coptic homes this evening in the village of Soul, Atfif in Helwan Governorate, 30 kilometers from Cairo, and torched the Church of St. Mina and St. George. There are conflicting reports about the whereabouts of the Church pastor Father Yosha and three deacons who were at church; some say they died in the fire and some say they are being held captive by the Muslims inside the church.

Witnesses report the mob prevented the fire brigade from entering the village. The army, which has been stationed for the last two days in the village of Bromil, 7 kilometers from Soul, initially refused to go into Soul, according to the officer in charge. When the army finally sent three tanks to the village, Muslim elders sent them away, saying that everything was “in order now.” A curfew has been imposed on the 12,000 Christians in the village.

Can Japan rise again?

March 14, 2011 By Pat Muchanan

We can thank Providence that the earthquake was not 150 miles closer to Tokyo, or else Japan’s dead might number in the millions.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan calls it the worst crisis since World War II. Yet, horrendous as it is, it does not, thus far, compare with that. For the earthquake dead are not 1 percent of those who perished in World War II.
Between 1942 and 1945, Japan was stripped naked of an empire that embraced Formosa, Korea, Manchuria, the entire China coast, all of French Indochina (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia), Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), the Philippines and the Western Pacific out to Guam and south to Guadalcanal.

She sustained 2 million military dead and 500,000 to a million civilian dead under U.S. carpet-bombing that reduced her great cities to smoldering rubble and Hiroshima and Nagasaki to atomic ash.

Three massacred children

Jewish Fogel family slaughtered by Palestinian terroristsBy Caroline B. Glick is the senior Middle East Fellow at the Center for Security Policy in Washington, DC and the deputy managing editor of The Jerusalem Post.

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com

Following the massacre of the Fogel family, Netanyahu took to the airwaves, speaking to the hostile world. What could he have been thinking? Didn’t he get the memo?

Ruth Fogel was in the bathroom when the Palestinian terrorists pounced on her husband Udi and their three-month-old daughter Hadas, slitting their throats as they lay in bed on Friday night in their home in Itamar.
The terrorists stabbed Ruth to death as she came out of the bathroom. With both parents and the newborn dead, they moved on to the other children, going into a bedroom where Ruth and Udi’s sons Yoav (11) and Elad (4) were sleeping. They stabbed them through their hearts and slit their throats.

The murderers apparently missed another bedroom where the Fogels’ other sons, eight-year-old Ro’i and two-year-old Yishai were asleep because they left them alive. The boys were found by their big sister, 12-year-old Tamar, when she returned home from a friend’s house two hours after her family was massacred.
Tamar found Yishai standing over his parents’ bodies screaming for them to wake up.
