Gospel Still Spreading Despite Nepal’s New Constitution That Bans Converting Others

Christian Aid Mission Staff : Nov 13, 2015 : Gospel Herald

“When there was persecution, professing the name of Christ was very costly, but since the government became secular there’s freedom, and because of that there’s a lot of false teaching coming in, so it’s imperative that they know what true teaching is.”

(Nepal)—Nepal has quietly enshrined a long-time ban on proselytizing in its new constitution. For an indigenous ministry in Nepal that has long found ways to quietly proclaim Christ as Lord, that means business as usual.

As did the interim constitution of the prior seven years, the new constitution signed by Nepal’s president on Sept. 20 outlaws “any act to convert another person from one religion to another or any act or behavior to undermine or jeopardize the religion of another,” with violations punishable by prison and/or fines.

Christian Ministry In Nepal Competing for ‘Gospel Truth’ Against ‘False Teaching’ of Prosperity Preachers

The Christian Post – Stoyan Zaimov – November 15th, 2015

Nepalese Christians pray during their National Convention in Kathmandu April 20, 2010. The Nepalese Christians demanded the timely drafting of the constitution.

A Christian ministry in Nepal has reflected on the changing political currents in Nepal, and noted that as room for preaching the Gospel has grown, so has “false teaching” coming from groups such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and prosperity gospel preachers.

“When there was persecution, professing the name of Christ was very costly, but since the government became secular there’s freedom, and because of that there’s a lot of false teaching coming in, so it’s imperative that they know what true teaching is,” one ministry director working from Nepal said in a press release shared by Christian Aid Mission.

“With Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, prosperity gospel and others coming in, that problem is increasing, and the people that they are shepherding need to get fed the truth of the Scripture.”

Soccer superstar Ronaldo survived mom’s illegal abortion attempt

LISBON, Portugal, November 12, 2015 (LifeSiteNews)

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese soccer is alive today only because the law at his conception prohibited a legal abortion, and he survived in utero an illegal, but ineffective folkloric alternative abortion method.

Ronaldo’s origins have come under focus recently because of a just-released documentary film, Ronaldo, and a recent book.

The film is structured around Ronaldo’s intense desire to win the league’s best player award—the Ballon d’Or—over soccer rival Lionel Messi.

But The London Telegraph observes, “At the edge of the frame is an insightful and rather sad portrait of addiction, loneliness and a yearning to fill a hole that can never be filled.” The Telegraph says that need is to please a father who was first absent because of alcoholism and then because of an early, drink-induced death.

Christians facing ‘Indonesian jihad’ as churches burned on imams’ orders: report

By Edmund DeMarche –  November 12, 2015 – FoxNews.com

A 153-foot statue of an open-armed Jesus famously towers high above the Indonesian city of Manado, but Christians are under siege in the world’s fourth-most populous country, according to a disturbing new report.

The Southeast Asian nation, where about 90 percent of its 250 million people are Muslim, has long been seen as seen as an example that a large Muslim majority can live in relative peace alongside minority religions, like Christianity and Hinduism. But in October, there was a troubling outburst in violence in the Sharia-law governed region of Aceh. At the urging from Islamic leaders, hundreds of Muslims took to the streets with machetes and torched area churches.

“We will not stop hunting Christians and burning churches. Christians are Allah’s enemies,” one Islamic leader said, according to a report by the Gatestone Institute titled, “The Indonesian Jihad on Christian Churches.”

Kurdish Army Holding the Line against ISIS “for the sake of the whole free world”

Chris Mitchell : Nov 9, 2015 : CBN News

“The only people—that are successfully fighting ISIS—is the Kurdish Peshmerga. You‘ve got a country here with 4.5 million people that are totally pro-American, more so than we’re pro-American.” -Retired U.S. General Jay Garner.

Erbil, Kurdistan)—[CBN News] For more than a year, the Peshmerga, the Kurdish military force in Iraq, has consistently stood up to ISIS.

Peshmerga Gen. Karzan escorted CBN News to the front lines for a rare look at the territory these fighters took back from ISIS. We crossed the fabled Euphrates River and passed the Mosul Dam.

One year ago, ISIS captured the dam and threatened Iraq with an ecological catastrophe. Destroying the dam would have sent a 60-foot wall of water all the way to Baghdad, killing as many as half a million people. The Peshmerga took back the dam with the help of U.S. airstrike.

Pakistan: Christians build churches despite death threats

November 9, 2015 – by Robert Spencer

Javed David doesn’t seem to understand the situation. Muslims have threatened David and warned him to stop building new churches. So why is he going ahead? Why is he needlessly and recklessly poking them in the eye? They told him they didn’t like this activity — doesn’t he realize how much he is harming Muslim-Christian dialogue by provoking Muslims in this way?

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which understands very well that the dialogue must be preserved at all costs and all activities that offend Muslims must be ended immediately, should send an emissary or two over to Lahore to explain present-day realities to David and to the Rev. Sohail Farman.

Perhaps an Eastern Catholic bishop, one with an Arabic background and a sterling record of silencing and ostracizing those who speak out against Muslim persecution of Christians, could take one of his trusted priests, one who knows that those who oppose jihad and Islamic supremacism are an ongoing danger to the church, and they could go over to Lahore together and explain to David and Farman that Islam is at its core a Religion of Peace, as long as Christians don’t cross any red lines and do anything to goad the poor dears into doing something violent — violence for which the Christians would be entirely responsible, of course.

How Might a Brother Consider His Anger as a Christian vs. an “Angry Black Man”?

November 04, 2015 – The Gospel Coalition – Tony Carter

I’m angry, and I don’t really care what they say (I don’t really care what they say) I’m angry, nobody better get in my way (nobody better get in my way) – “Anger Management” by Lecrae.

I grew up around angry men. My father, my uncles, my brothers all at some time or another demonstrated what is commonly known as the “angry black man” syndrome. Some were seemingly able to control it and didn’t get in to too much trouble. Others however (too many in fact), tragically hurt others and themselves out of anger. I have known my own share.

I recall (not so fondly) a few years ago having an argument with my wife over something frivolous. While I was busy making my point and demanding my rightness, she looked at me and said the words I have never forgotten, “Honey you are right, but why do you get so angry?” I have never forgotten those words. They cut me to the core. It was as if the Lord himself spoke them to me. And in one sense, he had. I pledged on that day to fight that sin head on.

Islamic State plotting to infiltrate, destabilize Balkans

November 6, 2015 – by Robert Spencer

“A senior diplomatic official from the region tells The Washington Times that Croatian intelligence has identified a possible Islamic State leader who is setting up in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina and beginning to organize scores of Islamist fighters who left the Balkans to join the Islamic State or al Qaeda’s Nusra Front in war-torn Syria and Iraq and have since returned home.”

They shouldn’t be allowed to return home. Their going and joining such groups should be considered an act of treason, as those groups are at war with the Balkans and everywhere else.

“Islamic State plotting to infiltrate, destabilize Balkans, intelligence suggests,” by John Solomon, Washington Times, November 5, 2015:

As Croatian voters go to the polls Sunday to potentially unseat remnants of the country’s communist past, there is growing intelligence that the Islamic State may be setting its eye on infiltrating and destabilizing the Balkans.

Muslims in Australia give $35 million to fund jihad terror

November 4, 2015 By Robert Spencer

“Australia is on high alert for attacks by radicalised Muslims or by home-grown militants returning from fighting in the Middle East, having raised its threat level to ‘high’ and unleashed a series of high-profile raids in major cities.”

“Home-grown militants returning from fighting in the Middle East” should not be allowed to reenter Australia. By going to the Middle East to wage jihad, they have declared that they are at war with Australia, and should be treated as enemy combatants.

Australia’s anti-money laundering agency says reports of suspected “terrorism-financing” tripled in the past year, with over A$50 million ($35.92 million) which could be used to support Islamist militants being investigated.

Report: Muslims in Northern Iraq “Just Sick of Islam” because of ISIS; Thousands Converting to Christianity

Leah Marieann Klett : Nov 3, 2015 : Gospel Herald

Northern Iraq)—More and more Kurdish Muslims living in Iraq are turning to Christ after witnessing the brutality of extremist groups like ISIS, who carry out horrific acts in the name of Allah, Christian aid workers have revealed.

A ministry leader in the Kurdish Region of Iraq told the Christian Aid Mission that his organization can barely keep up with the desire of refugees to learn about Christ and the Bible, which has grown increasingly strong since ISIS overtook many parts of the region.

“They’re just sick of Islam,” he said. “People are very hungry to know about Christ, especially when they hear about miracles, healing, mercy and love.”

He added, “As terrifying and horrifying as ISIS is, they did us a great favor because they came and have shown them all the killing, saying that it’s all in the Koran verses. So now we don’t have to say much, we just say the truth.”
