Seeker Friendly Church Leader Admits They Have Done It All Wrong

By Bob Burney,

If you are older than 40 the name Benjamin Spock is more than familiar. It was Spock that told an entire generation of parents to take it easy, don’t discipline your children and allow them to express themselves. Discipline, he told us, would warp a child’s fragile ego. Millions followed the guru of child development and he remained unchallenged among child rearing professionals. However, before his death Dr. Spock made an amazing discovery: he was wrong. In fact, he said:

We have reared a generation of brats. Parents aren’t firm enough with their children for fear of losing their love or incurring their resentment. This is a cruel deprivation that we professionals have imposed on mothers and fathers. Of course, we did it with the best of intentions. We didn’t realize until it was too late how our know-it-all attitude was undermining the self assurance of parents.

By Teresa Neumann: Feb 7, 2008

Faith School Boom “Creates Division”

Peter StokesBy Peter Stokes, Salt Shakers

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,
Where are we truly heading as a nation? Toward a Righteous God or away from Him?

As Bible-believing God-fearing Christians, we must get on our knees and repent, both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ in Australia! Certainly, we’re reaping what we have sowed!

It would appear that the Rudd government’s humanists, like Julia Gillard,  are already hard at work. Am I biased in saying that? Yes. Not politically, but biased toward a worldview we know is the best for our children and our nation – that worldview is a Biblical Christian worldview. We also believe that educational ‘choice’ is important – parents should be able to choose the type of education they want for their children. (more…)

Amazing Scene As 200 Kenyan Children, On Their Own Initiative, Pray For Their Country And Get Miraculous Results

By Michael Ireland : Feb 1, 2008

Ever since the children started praying together, the pastor says there have been no deaths, houses burned or even violence in their section of this slum. Adults recite this fact in amazement. The children, however, don’t even mention it because it’s exactly what they expected to happen. “Pastor told us that there is power in prayer. He said we can change the country through prayer,” says 12-year-old. “So that is what we are doing, changing the country.”

Praying Kenyan kids(Kenya)—In the latest edition of Missions Catalyst, Sue Sprenkle, an overseas correspondent for the International Mission Board, who has been reporting from Africa for 10 years describes a scene inside the small, tin shack of a Baptist church filled with children. “After three weeks of post-election violence, it’s good to hear the sounds of children laughing and playing—especially in the hard-hit slums of Nairobi,” she says.
“My heart overflows with emotion as I hear a sound even more precious than laughter—a child’s sweet, innocent prayer.”

“Father, our country is in trouble. We pray for peace to come,” an 11-year-old boy prays. “Protect us, Father. Teach people to love one another and not to fight anymore.” (more…)

Couple Jailed For Contempt In Vilification Case

Barney Zwartz – The Age
February 21, 2008

A NSW couple who defied a court order under Victoria’s religious vilification law are both serving nine months in Victorian prisons.

Vivienne Legg and Dyson Devine posted on their website claims that an occult group, the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), was really a pedophile ring in Victoria, and that its activities included hosting parties at which naked children served as waiters and members had sex with and murdered children.

Those claims were the subject of a previous OTO religious vilification complaint against the 1997 Young Australian of the Year, Dr Reina Michaelson, founder of the Child Sex Abuse Prevention Program and author of the article posted on the couple’s web site. That case was settled out of court in November 2006. (more…)
