Canadian Pastor Exonerated After Judge Rules His Letter Did NOT Constitute Hate Speech

by Thaddeus M. Baklinski : Dec 8, 2009 : LifeSiteNews

Overjoyed and relieved that the decision was in his favor, pastor also says he “felt a bit of righteous anger because for seven and a half years of my life I’ve been dragged through the mud over a community debate that existed in Red Deer, Alberta, which ended up going global because of one complaint. However, that one complaint gave me a soap box to share the Gospel and to share what my letter really meant, instead of how it’s been misinterpreted, and given me the chance to speak to many, many homosexuals about the incredible love of God.”

(Calgary, Canada)—The Christian pastor who was hauled before the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal (AHRT) for writing a letter to the editor on homosexuality has been exonerated by a Court of Queen’s Bench judge who ruled the letter was not a hate crime but legitimate expression allowed under freedom of speech. Pastor Stephen Boissoin told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) that he was “overjoyed and relieved” that the lengthy, stressful and expensive seven year legal battle over his letter to the editor has ended in his favor.

‘Worship God Quietly’ – Lambeth Council Orders Church

Andrea Minichiello Williams – Christian Legal Centre

A LONDON church has been told by Lambeth Council to reduce the volume of its worship.

In an extraordinary  decision, All Nations Church in Kennington, South London, has been served with a noise abatement notice by Lambeth council after complaints from a couple of local residents about the level of noise coming from the church.

This is the first complaint that the church has received since it began meeting at the premises in the 1960s. Church leaders have been ordered not to amplify its music or sermons – something which will make worship very difficult for the 600-strong congregation  – some of whom are elderly and hard of hearing.

The decision, which imposes a restriction on the freedom of expression of religion will, according to one of the church’s pastors, Victor Jibuike, seriously affect the congregation and potentially mean that some members will leave and worship elsewhere – something he does not want to see.

Clergy Oppose Human Rights Charter!

A delegation of about 20 Australian church leaders met with federal Attorney General Robert McClelland on Wednesday to tell him they oppose a national Charter of Rights.

The delegation included representatives of Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist and Pentecostal churches.

A report in The Australian said they warned “the Rudd government it could curtail religious freedoms and give judges the power to shape laws on issues such as abortion and gay marriage”.

The delegation was led by Catholic Cardinal George Pell.

Sydney’s Anglican Archbishop Peter Jensen told the paper he could not attend but “staunchly backed the delegation’s views”.

News – SARC Committee ‘Exceptions’ Report

Written by Peter Stokes of Salt Shakers

Was it just coincidence that Mr Hulls released his Media Release on Sunday?

Probably not when it was mainly Christians who put up the fight against the further infringements to freedom of Speech and Religion that were being considered by the Victorian Government Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee. (SARC)

Have those concerns been allayed? NO. Is this a win? NO, it is simply LESS of a LOSS than it might have been – dressed up to appear to be a win.

Lest we forget, Mr Hulls has openly stated that he is opposed to ALL discrimination!!

Prayer Assault Against The Bill of Rights

United Prayer

Dear family & friends in Christ,

Thank you for your valued support to all of you who have sent submissions to the government in response to the several emails we and others have sent over the last few months regarding the proposed Bill of Rights.

I have had a few people ask me how we can pray against the Bill of Rights. Following are my thoughts and suggested prayer points.

Bill Of Rights Attack On Majority Law Abiding Citizens?

Pastor DannyDear family & friends in Christ,

The Federal Government plans to introduce a Bill of Rights, which at face value seems to be very good, in particular the way it’s packaged and promoted by clever agents of the Rudd Government. I heard one such agent say on TV last week, ‘there are 40,000 submissions and I guess most of them support the bill.” However, this is not true. According to information I have received from a person within the Government who does not agree with this bill, most submissions are against it.

Currently across Australia, there are many one-track minded forums promoting how good this bill is.  It seems we are reliving the introduction of the Racial & Religious Vilification Laws all over again. The Government held similar forums across Victoria where many people were in opposition to them. Although there was around 80% of submissions against, the Government passed the Racial & Religious Vilification Laws anyway.

I wonder why the Government calls for submissions and conducts forums, because it seems their bills will pass anyway. Is it all a big farce to make the public think they are a free and democratic Government run by the people.? In reality the Left-Wing secular agendas (also promoted by the United Nations) will be carried out anyway, whether the rest of us Aussies like it or not.

Couple Jailed For Contempt In Vilification Case

Barney Zwartz – The Age
February 21, 2008

A NSW couple who defied a court order under Victoria’s religious vilification law are both serving nine months in Victorian prisons.

Vivienne Legg and Dyson Devine posted on their website claims that an occult group, the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), was really a pedophile ring in Victoria, and that its activities included hosting parties at which naked children served as waiters and members had sex with and murdered children.

Those claims were the subject of a previous OTO religious vilification complaint against the 1997 Young Australian of the Year, Dr Reina Michaelson, founder of the Child Sex Abuse Prevention Program and author of the article posted on the couple’s web site. That case was settled out of court in November 2006. (more…)

LONDON, UK (ANS) — Leading British politicians have distanced themselves from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s belief that some Sharia law in the UK seems “unavoidable”.

According to a BBC story, Gordon Brown’s spokesman said the prime minister “believes that British laws should be based on British values”.

The Tories [Conservatives) called the archbishop’s remarks “unhelpful” and the Lib Dems said all must abide by the rule of law.

The BBC reported that Dr Rowan Williams said the UK had to “face up to the fact” some citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

He said adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law could help social cohesion. (more…)

Pastor Nalliah has been given top-level access in recent months to the Howard Government, which he has endorsed enthusiastically. (more…)
