Many of you who have been connected with us at Catch The Fire Ministries for different seasons over the past 15 years, have surely known that we have been greatly tested several times.
But thank God, we have never ever backed off or bowed down to any pressure to compromise the Word of God. We have stood through death threats, fire-bombing threats and even threats to kidnap my children.
Saturday 22nd June 2013 marks the 6th Anniversary of the Freedom of Speech Victory in our Nation. We also thank God for our 3rd child, Brianna Hope, who was miraculously born on the same day 6 years ago.
We fought a court battle for 5 years, by God’s grace and your support, won the battle for freedom of speech. Now the time has come for one of the most important battles to be won, and that is to transform our Government.
Proverbs 29:2 -“When the righteous rule the nation rejoices. But when the wicked are in control the nations groan.”
I am very confident that we have a good opportunity to secure a few Senate seats in this election and control the balance of power in Parliament. I am very hopeful of winning the Senate seat in Victoria.

LONDON, April 2, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Gay “marriage” has little to do with “equality,” being in reality the result of “an aggressive secularist and relativist” mindset that intends to abolish the very foundations of western societies, according to George Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury. The result, he said, will be the “alienation of a large minority of people who only a few years ago would have been considered pillars of society.”
Lord Carey said in an op-ed in the Daily Mail over the Easter weekend that it is “a bit rich” to hear Prime Minister David Cameron call upon Christians to “stand up and oppose aggressive secularisation” when it is he who is doing the most to push that agenda forward. Carey cited a ComRes poll that found more than two-thirds of Christians in Britain believe they are becoming a “persecuted minority”.
While such beliefs may be premature, he said, “the Prime Minister has done more than any other recent political leader to feed these anxieties.”
“I am very suspicious that behind the plans to change the nature of marriage,” Carey wrote, “…there lurks an aggressive secularist and relativist approach towards an institution that has glued society together for time immemorial.”

Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative Party MP and social commentator, has written in the Daily Telegraph that British people are fed up with the increasingly unfunny and hateful barbs against Christianity in comedy programs.
The laughs today, she wrote in an op-ed, are sought not in subtlety but in coarseness, sneering at the creed having replaced satire aimed at the believers, and mockery of the person of Christ replacing mockery of His all too fallible followers. It is a vital distinction.
Although Christianity and comedy have long been natural bedfellows, she added, something has changed in recent years. Gentle mockery or sharp satire aimed at Christians and their leaders have been replaced by abuse of Christianity itself.
Widdecombe, a convert to Catholicism from the Anglican Church, was asked by the BBC to investigate why Christianity is such an appealing target for comedians and why Christians might not like it.
After all, the BBC execs reasoned, comedy producers respect Islam sufficiently to avoid laughing at the Prophet, so why are even the most sacred aspects of this country’s major faith seemingly the stuff of so much comedy? Is it because the Church here is seen as part of the Establishment? Or is it due to the rise of militant atheism? Or is it simply that comics would be afraid to do to Islam that which they regularly do in their routines to Christianity?? (more…)

The most high-profile case, involving Pastor Daniel Scot and Catch the Fire Ministries, caused huge angst and took five years to ‘resolve’! Religious vilification laws create disharmony and unrest. They are often used to shut down debate and criticism.

‘BARRIE CASSIDY: Now the Turkish prime minister, as I understand it, is putting forward a proposal for international laws on religious defamation. What do you make of that idea?
Bob CARR: ‘I don’t think that would be acceptable to the Western world. We had a little example of how religious vilification laws work in a case that gained some notoriety under the Victorian legislation, and it meant drawn-out legal process directed at some pastors who would have gained, without this, no publicity whatsoever for their criticism of Islam. I think dragging religious disputes into the courts is a very bad notion.

In 2002 the Islamic Council of Victoria brought an allegation of vilification against Pastor Daniel Nalliah of Catch the Fire Ministries and Pastor Daniel Scot, which resulted in a court battle that lasted for almost five years. This court case, better known as the two Danny’s case, was a highly publicized court case that received much coverage by the Australian and international media.
The two Danny’s successfully defended themselves and won the court battle for freedom of speech in the Victorian Supreme Court, when the three judges overturned the VCAT decision, clearing the two Pastors any wrong doing and upholding their basic rights of freedom of speech in a democratic nation. This decision resulted in most state governments rejecting the racial and religious vilification laws across Australia.
After ten years, the two Danny’s together will be addressing a gathering this Sunday the 13th of May at 6.30pm at the Catch The Fire Ministries base at 23 Melverton Dr in Hallam, Victoria, and will be speaking on ‘Why Islamic Sharia Law is bad law and should not be tolerated or accommodated in Australia’.
Pastor Daniel Nalliah, who is also the founding President of the new political party Rise Up Australia Party – ‘Keep Australian, Australian’, will be running a national campaign in the next federal election.
He stated this morning, “I lived and worked for two years with my family in Saudi Arabia and know very well the effects of Islamic Sharia Law. It is bad law, it is from the dark ages. We in the West should not touch it, as it completely goes against everything we stand for. France, Germany, UK and many nations in Europe who have embraced some parts of Islamic Sharia Law, under the banner of Multiculturalism, now regret doing so, although it seems a bit too late for them.

It is so great to be back home in Australia. I am sure we all know that there is no place like home. Our time in Israel, Jordan, Sri Lanka & Malaysia was fantastic. While I was in Sri Lanka I heard the shocking news that Kevin Rudd was no longer the PM but Julia Gillard had taken the top job.

I received many emails asking me what I thought about it and what’s going to happen to Australia with a self confessed Atheist as Prime Minister.  Sorry for not getting back to you before, but I was so very busy since returning from overseas and have also been reading many articles about this issue and seeking God’s wisdom before making any comments.

As you all know by now I tell people, ‘what they need to hear and not what they like to hear.’  Let’s give credit where it is due. Unlike Kevin Rudd, at least PM Gillard has been honest in telling the people that she DOES NOT BELIEVE IN GOD.  However, is this the beginning of the end for Australia ?? This will depend on how you vote at the next election which could be anytime between now and November 2010.

In October 2009 we at CTFM carried out a spiritual warfare prayer assignment with the help of many other prayer warriors on Mt Ainslie in Canberra and around 30 other mountains across the country. We specifically prayed for rain, the breaking of the drought and that there would be no major bush fires. Then we stretched our hands over federal parliament and prayed for ungodly leaders in parliament to be removed and righteousness to be restored. Let me tell you in advance something you will need to know. If in the near future you notice that no new articles are being added to this website, and no new comments are being posted, there will be one very good reason for this: I will be in jail, or fighting a lengthy court battle, because of Victoria’s new EOC law which was just passed.
Now I realise that for my many enemies this will be tremendous news indeed. But for those at least concerned about freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of conscience, this should be a very worrying development.
And to be honest, I am perfectly aware that there will be some Christians as well who will see the closure of this website as a good thing: “Yes, Bill was just too radical, and too much of a trouble maker. It is probably a good thing he has been put away. He was giving Christianity a bad reputationâ€.
Of course I will not find such attitudes surprising. Jesus had warned about these very things. He told his disciples to be ready for the coming persecution: “All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you. I did not tell you this at first because I was with you†(John 16:1-4). (more…)

‘Hate crimes’ are under review in Victoria. If what is being proposed in one of the review documents is introduced into legislation, it will mean even MORE RESTRICTIONS on the freedom of speech.
In fact, if you OFFEND or INSULT a homosexual you could be hauled before the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission – and with their NEW POWERS, the EOHRC could launch their own investigation into behaviour they think ‘offends’ someone! Churches and Christians will be under even more threat if this is put into legislation!
Last year Victoria’s Attorney-General Rob Hulls initiated changes to the Sentencing Act regarding the sentencing of hate crimes. The amendment requires a sentencing court to have regard to whether an offence was motivated (wholly or partially) by hatred of, or prejudice against, a group of people with common characteristics with which the victim was associated or with which the offender believed the victim was associated.
But that isn’t enough for Mr Hulls.
Mr Hulls has asked Hon Geoffrey Eames, a retired Supreme Court judge, to conduct a review of ‘Identity Motivated Hate Crime’ in Victoria to “determine whether current hate crime laws are adequate”. They are considering whether ‘hate crimes’ should be a specific part of the criminal law. (more…)
