The ‘Changing’ Evangelical Movement?

By, Ken Connor, Christian Post        Sat. March 8th, 2008

Ken ConnorPundits love to put their subjects into tidy little boxes—it makes their talking points easier. After all, people in little boxes are not complicated or nuanced. No doubt that’s why the media has long tried to put evangelicals into a box. The problem, however, is that the media has been using the wrong box for evangelicals for decades.

Ever since the rise of the Moral Majority, the media has been labeling evangelicals “values voters.” The assumption has been that evangelicals are concerned with a limited set of values, that they always act on the basis of those limited values, and that they are, therefore, less complicated or sophisticated than the rest of society. Is Australia on its way down a slippery slope?

This article is written for all those who have the fortitude to face up to what we as Aussie Christians have brought upon ourselves. It is not for those who cry, “Take me off the mailing list” because they cannot see/hear the truth!

It is certainly time for battle in the Spiritual realm as never before!  The fact that some people cannot see what is happening right now makes me ask, “What will it take?”  (more…)

By Katherine T. Phan, Christian Post     Wed. March 12, 2008,

President BushNASHVILLE – President Bush delivered a rousing speech before an audience of Christian broadcasters Tuesday, saying the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are part of the same ideological struggle to protect God’s universal gift of freedom to humanity.

Bush called freedom a “precious gift” that was not America’s gift to the world but God’s gift to all humanity, to which the crowd responded with “amen.”

In his address on the closing day of the National Religious Broadcasters convention, the president invoked faith and the value of human life as he reiterated his commitment to support both countries in securing peace and settling their governments. (more…)

Will Labor’s Catholic Ministers Have The Guts To Follow Their Conscience Over Fertility Bill?

By Ruth Dudley Edwards – 10th March 2008, Daily Mail

Just what would it take for the three Roman Catholic Cabinet Ministers – Des Browne, Ruth Kelly and Paul Murphy – to tell the Prime Minister that their consciences matter more than their jobs, if the horrors within the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill are not enough to screw their courage to the sticking point?

Forced sterilisation of the unfit? Euthanasia? Slaying of the first-born?

Des Browne, Ruth Kelly, Paul MurphyThe Bill raises fundamental moral issues on fertility and embryo research which should never be considered a matter of party politics and are an anathema to the Catholic faith.

Question of morals: Labour ministers Des Browne, Ruth Kelly, Paul Murphy (more…)

New President-Elect of South Korea is an Outspoken, Committed Christian

By Teresa Neumann: Feb 7, 2008

President Elect - Lee Myungbak“God must have been so pleased with Lee’s outspoken endorsement of Him because the divine entity blessed Lee in his running for the presidency. Otherwise, how else can Lee—a person who attributes all matters of life to God’s divine providence—explain his victory?”

(Beijing)—The new president-elect of South Korea, Lee Myungbak, is a committed Christian. As mayor of Seoul in 2004, Myungbak declared: “I declare that the City of Seoul is a holy place governed by God; the citizens in Seoul are God’s people; the churches and Christians in Seoul are spiritual guards that protect the city…I now dedicate Seoul to the Lord. Faith School Boom “Creates Division”

Peter StokesBy Peter Stokes, Salt Shakers

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,
Where are we truly heading as a nation? Toward a Righteous God or away from Him?

As Bible-believing God-fearing Christians, we must get on our knees and repent, both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ in Australia! Certainly, we’re reaping what we have sowed!

It would appear that the Rudd government’s humanists, like Julia Gillard,  are already hard at work. Am I biased in saying that? Yes. Not politically, but biased toward a worldview we know is the best for our children and our nation – that worldview is a Biblical Christian worldview. We also believe that educational ‘choice’ is important – parents should be able to choose the type of education they want for their children. (more…)

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,

The following is an email from Salt Shakers with attachments of some very shocking articles regarding the Rudd Government’s unrighteous support of the ‘Homosexual Pride March’ in Melbourne and ‘Sexual Diversity’.

As Bible-believing God-fearing Christians, what do you think our Almighty Father, the Righteous Judge of Heaven and Earth, is thinking and feeling as our federal government endorses gross public sin and wickedness?

Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?Equal Families Photo: Vicki Jones

Following is an excerpt from the attached article, ‘Rudd declares his support for Pride March’:  As part of the post-march celebrations, the new member for Albert Park, Martin Foley, passed on a message of support from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who said his government would “continue to march towards tolerance, respect and diversity”.  (more…)

President Bush Delivers His Last White House Prayer Breakfast Speech

President George W. Bush acknowledges the applause as he attends the 56th National Prayer Breakfast Thursday, Feb. 8, 2008, at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Said the President, by President George W. Bush : Feb 8, 2008 : The White House

“The more time we spend with God, the more we see that He is not a distant king, but a loving Father…When we spend time with the Almighty, we realize how much He has bestowed upon us, and our hearts are filled with joy. We discover that by surrendering our lives to the Almighty, we are strengthened, refreshed, and ready for all that may come.”

The following are excerpts from White House transcripts:

THE PRESIDENT: It is fitting that we gather in prayer, because we recognize a prayerful nation is a stronger nation. (Applause.)

Every President since Dwight Eisenhower has attended the National Prayer Breakfast, and I am really proud to carry on that tradition. It’s an important tradition, and I’m confident Presidents who follow me will do the same. The people in this room come from many different walks of faith. Yet we share one clear conviction: We believe that the Almighty hears our prayers, and answers those who seek Him. That’s what we believe; otherwise, why come? Through the miracle of prayer, we believe He listens—if we listen to His voice and seek…His presence in our lives—our hearts will change. And in so doing, in seeking God, we grow in ways that we could never imagine. (White House photo by Joyce N. Boghosian) (more…)

For 10 days in January I had the opportunity of visiting my country of birth, Sri Lanka, along with Pastor Bob Cotton from Maitland AOG in NSW.
