Decriminalisation of Abortion Postponed

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,     (from Pastor Danny Nalliah)

Many of you will have already heard the breaking news regarding the battle for life in Victoria; that is that Candy Broad’s bill to Infinity of Lifedecriminalise abortion has been withdrawn!

Instead, the new Premier of Victoria John Brumby has commissioned a group to research the issue more thoroughly and is expected to propose another bill in March 2008. He intends for abortion to be decriminalised in Victoria, but with similar restrictions as under the Menhennit ruling of 1969 (which permits abortion only if deemed necessary for the woman’s life or health).

The live webcast of Prime Minister John Howard and Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd was a tremendous  breakthrough in raising up Christian moral values across our nation! Below are media articles from The Australian, Herald Sun, Age, and Sydney Morning Herald.
Ps. Danny of Catch the Fire Ministries who was present at the forum in Canberra, stated, “It was a fantastic event and clearly indicated Prime Minister John Howard’s defined stand for Christian values. On the other hand, I was very unhappy with the side-stepping responses that Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd gave, especially when questioned regarding Labor’s plans for the introduction of federal racial and religious vilification laws.”

We applaud the Australian Christian Lobby for organizing such a history making event!

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks resigns – July 27, 2007

Steve BracksSteve Bracks, the leader who introduced the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act into Victoria (the law which raged with controversy over 5 years), announced his immediate resignation, followed by his Deputy John Thwaites, also resigning from his position in Parliament. This change of leader to the State Labor party has shocked many. We do know that many people have been and are praying for the best possible leaders to bring Godly influence accross our State & Nation. We continue to expect this in the days ahead.
It is our hope that his replacement, John Brumby, will be someone who has even better values than Mr Bracks. We wish him all the very best & God’s blessings, as he spends time with his family.
