adnkronosinternational – Culture And Media – 15th November

Milan, 9 Nov. (AKI) – Italian feminist and former far right-wing MP Daniela Santanche has sparked a controversy after calling the Prophet Mohammed a “a polygamist and paedophile” during a TV debate. Santanche appeared on a television programme aired on the commercial channel, Canale 5 with the president of Milan’s Islamic centre, Ali Abu Schwaima, on Sunday.

“Mohammed was a polygamist and a paedophile because he had nine wives, one of whom was only nine years old, that is a historical fact,” said Santanche.

Ahmadinejad: Obama Must Choose Iran or Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud AhmadinejadFriday, 13 November 2009 – ICEJ

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said President Barack Obama must choose between Israel and Iran. The comment was made Tuesday in Istanbul during an economic address before the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference.

“The support of both Israel and Iran can’t go hand in hand. No change is made unless great choices are made,” said Ahmadinejad. “We will clasp any hand that is extended sincerely toward us, but changes should be made in practice.”

During a briefing at the Middle East Institute in Washington, Undersecretary of State William Burns responded to the remarks: “We seek a relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran based upon mutual interest and mutual respect. We do not seek regime change. We have condemned terrorist attacks against Iran.

Obama can’t be bothered by Islamic terrorism – Move on? Yes he can!

KILLEEN, TX - NOVEMBER 07: U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Hill and his daughter, Emma Hill,3, pray together as they light a candle and lay flowers at the front gate to Fort Hood following a shooting rampage on the grounds November 7, 2009 in Killeen, Texas. U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, an army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and wounded as many as 30 in a shooting rampage at the Soldier Readiness Center on the grounds of the military base Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. In the wake of the terrorist strike on our soldiers at Fort Hood, one individual’s still missing in action: Our commander in chief. The massacre’s 51 casualties, including 13 dead, were insufficient to drag President Obama away from the White House Happy Hour.

We just saw the worst terror attack on America since 9/11. And Obama couldn’t adjust his schedule to support our grieving troops.

Instead, we got his subtle defense of the perp: Unwilling to use the word “terror,” let alone the phrase “Islamist terror,” Obama warned us not to “rush to judgment.”

A Muslim fanatic, known to the FBI as a fan of suicide bombers and to colleagues as an opponent of our government, coolly buys weapons, heads to a military facilityhe knows will be packed with unsuspecting soldiers, waits for the crowd to thicken, then shouts, “Allah is great!” and guns down 51 patriots, calmly reloading among the dead and dying.

The Jihad Seminar of Major Nidal M. Hasan

Rev Mark Durie of St Marys Anglican Church

The contents of a two-year old seminar presented by Major Nidal M. Hasan, the medico believed responsible for the Fort Hood massacre, were apparently recorded in the form of powerpoint slides.

These slides are in one sense nothing new.  They review the basics of Islam: the pillars and core beliefs,  the Koran, abrogation (‘later verses abrogate former ie: peaceful verses no longer apply’ – slide 35), the rewards for believers in paradise and punishments of hell for those who do not submit to Allah’s will, defensive and agressive jihad.  However, in addition, Major Hasan  explains the implications of this theological material for the lived situation of Muslims in the US armed forces.

He is saying  that Muslims can experience problems in  the  military for two reasons.

One reason is the prohibition against Muslims killing other Muslims (‘whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell’ – slide 12).

The other is the requirement that Muslims wage war against non-believers in both defensive jihad (slides 37-41) and aggressive jihad (slides 42-48).  This command, he is saying, can be expected to be followed by devout, God-fearing Muslims (‘Allah expects full loyalty’ – slide 49), especially if they are persuaded that in so-doing they would be ‘fighting against the injustices of the “infidels,”‘ (slide 48). His point is that if US Muslim soldiers can be persuaded that fighting against fellow-Muslims is an injustice, this could trigger a deadly attack against fellow US soldiers instead, e.g. by means of ‘suicide bombing, etc’ (‘We love death more than you love life!’ – slide 48).

Muslim ‘apostates’ in U.S. ask for protection (Group says Shariah law poses threat)

Washington Times  | 9/24/2009 | Julia Duin

Five ex-Muslims who founded a group called Former Muslims United put out a public appeal Thursday to the U.S. government for protection, saying the lives of thousands of “apostates from Islam” are in peril.

Speaking at Capitol Hill press conference, the Granada Hills, Calif., group cited the case of Fathima Rifqa Bary, a 17-year-old from Ohio who converted to Christianity four years ago. She fled to Florida this past summer in fears that her parents would murder her for “honor” reasons. Her father, the girl said in court filing, had already threatened to kill her.

Fathima first stayed with a pastor and his wife, then ended up in protective custody with Florida’s Department of Children and Families.

Terror Arrests and the “Misunderstood” Religion

Tarek MehannaPosted by Nonie Darwish on Oct 22nd, 2009 and filed under FrontPage

Today we have yet another terror-related arrest of a Muslim, Tarek Mehanna, who was plotting jihad terror attacks against U.S. shopping malls. But Americans are told to never link that to Islamic teachings.
Committed Muslims insist that Islam is misunderstood by the West.

Sensitivity training to Islam is forced upon U.S. government employees and teachers. They are told that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism, implying that if they believe their eyes, ears and common sense, then they must be Islamophobes.

Muslim propaganda is cleverly wrapped in illogical strategies to get the Westerners confused about their own perceptions of Islam. For centuries Muslims lived with unchallenged, warped logic regarding their religion. Instead of examining non-Muslim fear of Muslim violence and oppression encouraged by Muslim scriptures, Muslims are trained to regard such complaints as an attack Islam itself. (more…)

America as the last man standing / ‘In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: who lost Europe?’

Geert Wilders is a Dutch Member of ParliamentHere is the speech of Geert Wilders, Chairman, Party for Freedom, the Netherlands, at the Four Seasons, New York, introducing an Alliance of Patriots and announcing the Facing Jihad Conference in Jerusalem.

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for inviting me.

I come to America with a mission.  All is not well in the old world.  There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic.  We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe.  This not only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West.  The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe.

First I will describe the situation on the ground in Europe.  Then, I will say a few things about Islam.  To close I will tell you about a meeting in Jerusalem.

The Europe you know is changing. (more…)

Rev. Dr. Mark Durie’s speech in Washington D.C. on Hate Speech Laws, Islamic Blasphemy Scriptures and Freedom of Speech: The Case of Australia

The Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom held a discussion with The Rev. Dr. Mark Durie on September 15, 2009, 12:00 – 2:00 PM  (Hudson Institute, Washington , D.C. Headquarters)

In December 2004, pastors Daniel Scot and Daniel Nalliah of the evangelical group Catch the Fire Ministries (CTFM) were found guilty by an Australian judge of religious vilification for criticizing Islam in the course of a religious seminar and were ordered to publicly disavow their beliefs. Four and a half years after the lawsuit was brought, the pastors ultimately prevailed in the courts. Pastor Scot, who had grown up in Pakistan and fled the country after being accused there of the capital crime of blasphemy, remarked that religious vilification statutes like that under which he had been convicted in Australia were “blasphemy laws in disguise” and “sharia by stealth.” (more…)

Ethiopian Convert Remains Jailed For Handing Out Bibles

Wednesday, 16 September 2009 01:45 PM EDT Simba Tian / Compass Direct News News

A convert from Islam who has led a push for Muslim-Christian understanding in Ethiopia has been in jail for nearly four months since his arrest for “malicious” distribution of Bibles.

Christian sources in Ethiopia said that, contrary to Ethiopian law, 39-year-old Bashir Musa Ahmed has not been formally charged since his arrest on May 23 in Jijiga, capital of Somali Region Zone Five, a predominantly Muslim area in eastern Ethiopia. Zonal police arrested him after he was accused of providing Muslims with Somali-language Bibles bearing covers that resemble the Quran, the sources said.

An Ethiopian national, Ahmed is known as a bold preacher of Christianity and is credited with opening discussion of the two faiths between Christian and Muslim leaders. He is well-known in the area as a scholar of Islam, but his case has gone largely unreported in Ethiopia. (more…)

A Muslim prayer rally on Capitol Hill Friday drew between 3,000 and 5,000 participants, a figure well below the 50,000 organizers hoped to attract.

Among those gathered were several dozen protestors. Some stood at the rear of the crowd holding Bibles and praying. Others yelled “repent” from across the street, where they gathered with banners and crosses, the Washington Post reported.

Converts From Islam Jailed, Pursued In Somalia’s Breakaway Region

SomaliaThursday, 17 September 2009 Simba Tian / Compass Direct News

A convert from Islam in Somalia’s self-declared state of Somaliland has been jailed for distributing Christian materials, and another is on the run from both family members and police upset over his new faith.

Christian sources said Somaliland native Osman Nour Hassan was arrested on Aug. 3 for providing Christian literature in Pepsi village, on the outskirts of the breakaway region’s capital city, Hargeisa.

Promotion of any religion other than Islam in Somaliland is prohibited, contrary to international standards for religious freedom such as Article 18 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 5(1-2) of the Somaliland constitution states that Islam is the state religion and prohibits the promotion of any other faith, according to the U.S. Department of State’s 2008 International Religious Freedom Report, and Article 313 outlines penalties for Muslims who change their religion.
