Pursuing The Churches Over Human Rights Is Contradictory

Peter CostelloPeter Costello

July 29, 2009 – The Age

A proposed charter may be used to curtail religious freedom.

WHAT happens when equal rights between men and women are so widely accepted that mainstream Australia hardly thinks about it? Surely it is time to acknowledge that anti-discrimination statutes have done their job?

Not according to the Victorian Government. It harbours the view that discrimination has got sophisticated – so hard to find under current law – that we must widen the law to catch more of it. One area in the State Government’s sights is religious bodies, and their schools. (more…)

Indian Christians: \"Attacks have increase our faith\"Indian Christian: Attacks have increased our faith

Indian Christians in Orissa state were attacked by Hindu radicals in the wake of their leader’s death in August 2008.

The wave of attacks on churches in Karnataka, India, have only “increased our faith and brought us together,” says Archbishop Bernard Moras, whose initiative has united churches of many denominations.

On June 19, over 200 Christians from various denominations gathered at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Bangalore. They came together under the banner of Karnataka United Christians Forum for Human Rights (KUCFHR).

Addressing the gathering, Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras said, “God has the power to bring good even from evil. The formation of this forum is a testimony to that.” (more…)

Prayer Assault Against The Bill of Rights

United Prayer

Dear family & friends in Christ,

Thank you for your valued support to all of you who have sent submissions to the government in response to the several emails we and others have sent over the last few months regarding the proposed Bill of Rights.

I have had a few people ask me how we can pray against the Bill of Rights. Following are my thoughts and suggested prayer points.

Obama’s Attack On Our Christian Heritage

Every Fourth of July we celebrate that day 233 years ago when 56 men voted for American independence, but many do not know that it was not until Aug. 2 of 1776 that the Declaration of Independence was formally signed by most of the delegates to the Second Continental Congress. In a speech given at Independence Hall on the evening of Aug. 1, 1776, Samuel Adams – often called the Father of the American Revolution – spoke to an assembled crowd about the spiritual and religious significance of what he and others had done on July 4th:

We have explored the temple of royalty, and found that the idol we have bowed down to, has eyes which see not, ears that hear not our prayers, and a heart like the nether millstone. We have this day restored the Sovereign, to whom alone men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven, and with a propitious eye beholds his subjects assuming that freedom of thought, and dignity of self-direction which He bestowed on them. From the rising to the setting sun, may His kingdom come. (more…)

Pentecostal Church Buildings Burned Down In Tanzania

Burning BuildingTwo church buildings were razed June 28 on the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar after Sunday worship services.

Suspected radical Muslims set the church buildings on fire on the outskirts of Unguja Township, on the island off the coast of East Africa, in what church leaders called the latest incidents of a rising tide of religious intolerance.

“We don’t want churches on our street,” read a flier dropped at the door of Charles Odilo, who had donated the plot on which the Evangelical Assemblies of God in Tanzania (EAGT) building stood. “Today we are going to burn the church, and if you continue we are going to burn your house  also.”

With Christian movements making inroads in the Muslim-dominated area, the EAGT church and a Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship in Africa (PEFA) church building a few miles away were burned down as a fierce warning, church leaders said.

The PEFA church building was located in the Kibondeni area eight miles from Unguja, and the EAGT structure was in the Fuoni area six miles from Unguja. Samuel Salehe Malanda, pastor of the 30-member PEFA church, said their building doubled as a nursery school on weekdays. (more…)

Revival Through Persecution

End Times - Pr DannyDear family & friends in Christ,

I’ve been praying that the church in Australia will be proactive and move into revival through a season of increasing prosperity and favor with God.  However, unfortunately I believe that most part of the church has sadly chosen to be reactive and will now experience revival only through persecution. Why should we the church wait until something goes wrong to wake up and put it right, after having paid a heavy price? Well, the sad truth is that most of the church is not hearing the voice of God, nor willing to obey even if they do hear His voice!

There is a big difference between believing (passive) and obedience (faith in action). Just simply believing will not bring revival. We must ACT on what we believe in faith to see revival. I think we in Australia chose to go with persecution when we made the choice to elect a government in 2007 with more than 80% anti-Christian politicians and dumped a government with more than 70% Christians, including some great morally sound Christians at the top of its leadership.

Before the 2007 election the Lord gave me a clear prophetic word, “If my people UNITE, PRAY & ACT,  John Howard would be re-elected and Peter Costello will take on the leadership.” When John Howard (former Prime Minister) was not re-elected, I was criticized by many Christian leaders who praised Kevin Rudd (current Prime Minister) as the man of God for the hour. In particular one very well known prayer ministry leader even mocked me through his national email database, praising Kevin Rudd as one of the godliest Christian Prime Ministers in Australia’s history. Underground Church Growing In Muslim-Dominated Indonesia

Worshipping GodJulian Lukins – Sumatra, Indonesia

Pentecostals on the tsunami-ravaged coast of Indonesia are experiencing a wave of conversions and healings.

In the strongly Muslim Aceh province of northern Sumatra—where 167,000 people died in the 2004 tsunami—the underground church movement is growing, with Pentecostal congregations thriving.

Indonesia has an official policy of religious tolerance, but in Muslim-dominated areas Christians face open hostility and persecution. In Aceh province, churches must register with the authorities and are not permitted to evangelize. Many Christians choose to meet in unregistered—or underground—churches.

Sumatra is one of the least evangelized places on earth, according to Operation World. But since the tsunami—which wiped out 15 percent of the population of Aceh’s provincial capital Banda Aceh—numerous underground churches have put down roots.

Pastor Nico (full name withheld for security reasons) started an underground Pentecostal church four years ago with only six members. Today 90 people from the neighborhood make up the Spirit-filled congregation. They endure persecution for their faith. One church family had rocks thrown through the windows of their home, and another family was forced to relocate because of threats. (more…)

Signs of The TIMES – YOU JUST REALLY DON’T WANT TO READ THIS
By W. D. Clabaugh I

You know – you wake up on a Monday Morning or Whatever morning thinking, “Perhaps today Barack Obama will start getting it right.” “Perhaps our Nation will become a righteous nation once again”. “Perhaps… was that a white bunny I seen running down that hole? Alice? Wonderland?”

Two Important Points To Consider

Dear family & friends in Christ,

Following are 2 very interesting articles from Bill Muehlenberg of Culture Watch. We certainly better wake up Pray and Act.

Dear friends

One. The persecution of Christianity is hotting up, big time. Now even home Bible studies are being shut down: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/05/24/christian-persecution-on-the-rise/

Two. Parachurch groups like Focus on the Family, Teen Challenge, Prison fellowship and CultureWatch may all be declared to be illegal real soon in Australia. See the frightening proof of this here: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/05/25/silencing-parachurch-ministries-and-other-christian-activities/ (more…)

Black Ministers Arrested On National Day Of Prayer

By Adrienne S. Gaines News

WhitehouseAlthough President Obama did not host a National Day of Prayer observance, two African-American ministers prayed outside the White House today, even though it led to their arrest.
The Rev. Johnny Hunter and the Rev. Stephen Broden, both longtime pro-life activists, were taken into custody briefly after holding a “prayer picket” outside the White House to publicly oppose the president’s decision not to participate in the National Day of Prayer (NDOP). They were released after just a few hours.

“[It’s] the National Day of Prayer, and the president refuses to participate in it?” said Hunter, who leads the Life Education and Resource Networks (LEARN) in Fayetteville, N.C. “Before at least presidents were nice enough to open their doors and let some Christians come in and pray. … Not this one. So since he wouldn’t do it, we took the prayer to him.”

The ministers said they knew they were risking arrest but held signs saying: “Jesus Christ Is Our Lord and Savior. BHO is not” to protest what they see as a dangerous trend toward broader abortion access and acceptance of homosexuality that has occurred under the Obama administration. (more…)

Anti-Christian Britain

Chuch ColsonBy Chuck Colson

As you may know, in Islamic countries such as Afghanistan, converting from Islam to Christianity is a crime punishable by death. While they don’t go that far, certain Indian states and Nepal erect formidable hurdles for would-be converts to Christianity.

And then there’s the United Kingdom.

In 2007, a 16-year-old girl was placed into foster care after being assaulted by a family member. Her foster mother had taken care of 80 foster kids over 10 years. She rented a farmhouse and was, by all accounts, completely committed to the well-being of the children placed under her care.

She is also a practicing Anglican Christian. This hadn’t been a problem. No one had ever accused her of taking advantage of her relationship to the girls for proselytizing.

The same is true of the 16-year-old in question. Still, the girl became interested in Christianity on her own; said that she wanted to attend church; and expressed a desire to be baptized. For the girl, baptism was a “washing away of the horrible things she had been through and a symbol of a new start.” (more…)

‘Hate Crimes’ Legislation Advancing Quickly

Repent America Urges Immediate Action from Christians

- PHILADELPHIA ELEVEN AFTER THEIR VINDICATION BY A PHILADELPHIA CRIMINAL COURT -PHILADELPHIA – Repent America is urging Christians nationwide to contact their congressmen and senators in effort to defeat the passage of “The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009” (H.R. 1913), which poses a serious threat to Biblical evangelism and active stances against the sin of homosexuality. After approval of the bill this past Thursday by the House Judiciary Committee, the measure is swiftly moving to a full vote in Congress, as well as consideration before the Senate this week. Unless Christians act, H.R. 1913 could be on President Obama’s desk within the next couple of weeks.

Co-written by openly homosexual congressman Barney Frank and co-sponsored by Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the Hate Crimes Prevention Act is faulty and untruthful from its very foundation, citing in its “findings” section that “members of such groups are forced to move across state lines to escape the incidence or risk of such violence” and that they are “prevented from purchasing goods and services, obtaining or sustaining employment or participating in other commercial activity.” (more…)

Taliban Executes 2 Christians

Pakistani FlagBelievers were protesting demand they accept Islam

Taliban Islamic radicals have attacked a community of Christians, executing two of them following a rally that protested Muslim graffiti in their neighborhood that ordered them to accept Islam or die, according to an international Christian organization.

The attack in Pakistan follows only by days an expansion of the territory occupied by the Islamic Taliban members.

The report from International Christian Concern said it happened in Taseer Town in Karachi.

The organization, which reaches out to persecuted Christians around the world, said it was told by Asif Stephen, a Christian politician, that the Christians protesting the Islamic slogans say: “We were protesting peacefully and all of sudden, a few militants carrying the latest weapons rushed in. Some of the attackers entered homes and pillaged money and jewelry and abused the women and burned their properties. The elderly were injured and one child fell to the ground and died in my friend’s arms.” (more…)

Lesbians, Condoms Go Wild In Attack On Christian Church

Making out at pulpit, shouting blasphemies in front of children

By Bob Unruh

Worshippers at a Bible-teaching church in Lansing, Mich., were stunned when members of a pro-homosexual, pro-anarchy organization named Bash Back interrupted their service to fling propaganda and condoms around the sanctuary, drape a profane banner from the balcony and feature two lesbians making out at the pulpit.

According to a blog posting by Nick De Leeuw on Right Michigan, the Bash Back organization orchestrated a protest in front of Mount Hope Church to draw the church’s security staff away from the sanctuary.

Then Bash Backers who had dressed up and mixed in with church worshippers took action.

According to De Leeuw, “Prayer had just finished when men and women stood up in pockets across the congregation, on the main floor and in the balcony. (more…)
