Doctor refused to refer couple for sex-selective abortion: faces possible loss of his license

In a statement in 2011, Dr. Hobart had said he believes abortion is murderby Andrew Smith, LifeSiteNews Australian correspondent – Mon Oct 07, 2013

MELBOURNE, October 8, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An Australian doctor with an unblemished record is at risk of losing his medical registration for refusing to refer a couple for a sex-selective abortion.

According to reports, the couple wanted to abort their healthy daughter, who was 19 weeks gestation, because they wanted a boy. While Dr. Mark Hobart refused to refer the couple, they subsequently obtained the abortion elsewhere.

In a statement in 2011, Dr. Hobart had said he believes abortion is “murder.”

For the last five months Dr. Hobart has been under investigation by The Medical Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), because of his actions.

Under the Victorian state Abortion Law Reform Act 2008, a doctor who has a conscientious objection to abortion is compelled to refer a patient on to another practitioner who does not hold that objection.

The Battle & Victory for Life in Melbourne

Dear friends & family in Christ,

There is now a “Culture of Death” creeping into Australia…NO, kicking down the doors of our society.

Through Fabianism, Islam, Euthanasia, Climate Change, Gay marriage and Abortion!

Evil is now deemed acceptable, and as Orwell predicted, men are now hated for speaking the Truth.

The electronic Media, true to its hidden mandate, has tonight called an organised crowd of 3,000 caring individuals as “protestors” and two hu…ndred, mouthing moronic thugs and thugettes as “Lobbyists”.

This latter group employed noise, violence, blasphemy, projectiles and profanity in seemingly endless supply to disrupt a pre-booked peaceful demonstration [For the sake of saving the most innocent potential Aussie citizens – babies].

President Obama: A pro-abortion president or a catalyst for pro-life action

by Susan Michelle Tyrell – Aug. 28, 2013 (LiveActionNews.org)

Remember those times Barack Obama was elected as president of the United States and a bunch of pro-lifers insisted that abortion would expand under his hands and it was the end of the world? Yeah. That didn’t happen.

Make no mistake: His abortion record speaks for itself and it’s not a very pretty picture. His affection toward Planned Parenthood is almost embarrassing, and his support for abortion rights is unlike any president we have seen. But the thing about extremists is that they tend to prick the consciences of others — in both directions — and in this case, history will show that electing a pro-abortion president probably helped the cause of the pro-life movement more than if we hadn’t.

Obama loves all things abortion alright (especially Planned Parenthood), but has his abortion extremism helped or harmed the cause to protect human life?

The Huffington Post reports on this phenomena in this article, entitled, “Anti-Abortion Laws Take Dramatic Toll On Clinics Nationwide,” which details the increased number of abortion clinic closing “since a heavy wave of legislative attacks on providers began in 2010, according to The Huffington Post’s nationwide survey of state health departments, abortion clinics and local abortion-focused advocacy groups.”

Premature newborn was pronounced dead: but then doctors gave him to his mother to hold

by Lauren Enriquez  – May 31, 2013

Jamie’s parents Kate and David Ogg embrace their newborn, pronounced dead by his physician shortly before.

Kate Ogg, Jamie’s mother, smiles as she cradles her live baby after bringing him back to life with skin-to-skin contact and plenty of maternal affection.

May 31, 2013 (LiveActionNews.org) – A premature newborn in Australia, born along with his twin sister at just 27 weeks’ gestation and weighing in at only two pounds, was pronounced dead by his physician after medical staff tried for twenty minutes to revive him. Jamie Ogg, now a little over three years old, is alive today only because of the undying love and affection of his mother.

According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, when Jamie was pronounced dead, the doctor handed him to his mother, Kate, so that she could say goodbye to her son. Kate took Jamie into her arms and tearfully caressed her tiny son.

She and her husband spoke to him, telling him what his name was, and that he had a sister. She told him the things that she had wanted to do with him throughout his life. Kate held Jamie on her chest, skin-to-skin, and occasionally he would gasp – a reflex the doctor said was normal after death.

Korean pastor fighting epidemic of abandoned babies with anonymous ‘Baby Box’

Life Site ^ | Natalie N. Brumfield – Posted on Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Lee Jong-rak is a Korean pastor in South Korea. A simple man with a huge purpose, Pastor Jong-rak saw a devastating problem. He thought of a way he could change it, and he became a prophetic voice to his society. His story is a story of faith. A story of hope. A story of love. And when you hear this heroic tale, you just may never be the same.

Lee Jong-rak is the creator of the Baby Box. His Baby Box is the first and only box in Korea that is for collecting abandoned babies who are physically or mentally handicapped or are just unwanted by their mothers.

Hundreds of unwanted babies are abandoned on the side of the street in South Korea every year. Jong-rak knew he needed to set up a way to save the lives of these precious babies. He built a drop box on the side of his home with a humble sign reading, “Place to leave babies.”

The inside of the box contains a thick towel covering the bottom, and lights and heating to keep the baby comfortable. A bell rings when someone puts a baby in the box, then Jong-rak, his wife, or staff associates come to immediately move the baby inside. His aim was to provide a life-giving alternative for desperate mothers in his city of Seoul. He even admits that he didn’t really expect that babies would come in– He was mistaken. The babies came. In the middle of the night, in the middle of the day, some with notes, some without a word, and only a very few mothers actually spoke to him face-to-face.

Pastor Jong-rak stated that one of the mothers said she “had poison to kill both herself and her baby.” He responded, “Don’t do that. Come here with your baby.” One single mother left this heart-wrenching note with her baby. The english translation follows.

“My baby! Mom is so sorry. I am so sorry to make this decision. My son! I hope you to meet great parents, and I am very, very sorry . I don’t deserve to say a word. Sorry, sorry, and I love you my son. Mom loves you more than anything else. I leave you here because I don’t know who your father is. I used to think about something bad, but I guess this box is safer for you. That’s why I decided to leave you here. My son, Please forgive me.”

Nearly 1,000 people join 15th annual Rally for Life in Perth, Australia

by Andrew Smith, LifeSiteNews Australian correspondent May 29, 2013

Upwards of 900 people attended Western Australia capital city Perth’s annual Rally For Life this week, meeting on an adjoining lawn before rallying at the steps of parliament house.

The rally is organised by Coalition for Defence of Human Life and has been held every year since the legalisation of abortion in Western Australia in 1998.  This was the 15th anniversary rally.

This year the event started with an adult reading a scripture passage for each year since abortion was legalised in Western Australia, accompanied by a child who was born in that year.  At least one of these children was saved from being possibly aborted, having been helped by a crisis pregnancy centre in Perth.

Rally organiser Richard Egan said that at the rally they collected 590 signatures urging the Western Austrlia parliament “to inquire in to the fourteen reported cases of babies born alive following an abortion procedure – none of whom were resuscitated or given any medical treatment.”

Richard Land: When Does a Human Become Human?

Charisma News – 5/20/2013 Abby Carr

The guilty verdict for abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell has spurred a new conversation in America about the sanctity of human life. Last week’s conviction of Gosnell on three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of three babies has many asking when life begins—and how we can protect it in the future. Among them is Richard Land, newly appointed president-elect of Southern Evangelical Seminary, a leader in apologetics education.

Last week, Gosnell, 72, was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of three babies born alive in his West Philadelphia clinic. He was acquitted of killing a fourth newborn during an illegal late-term abortion in a dirty clinic that served mostly low-income women and teens and went years without a state inspection.

After 10 days of deliberation, the jury also found Gosnell guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a patient who died from an overdose of sedatives. Gosnell was sentenced to three life terms in prison without parole. It has been widely reported that Gosnell performed 40,136 abortions in his clinic from 1988 to 2009.

Colorado Christians Answering the Prayers of Orphans

5/10/2013 Charlene Israel/CBN News

Each year thousands of children enter America’s foster care system and state workers are often overwhelmed with the task of finding them a safe home, but a growing number of Christians are getting involved to help ease the burden.

If you ever take the time to hear them, all of these children long for a sense of normalcy and peace—a place to call home.

“Will I ever be enough to be loved?” asks one 5-year-old foster girl.

After being placed with a permanent family, one 12-year-old boy commented, “I have a dream.”

“This time someone wanted me and I didn’t have to say goodbye,” he said.

In James 1:27, the Bible speaks of children without parents and the answer to their needs:

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”

First slavery, now abortion: blacks bear brunt America’s lost moral rudder

by Star Parker –  May 06, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com)

In 1854, Abraham Lincoln confronted America’s first “pro-choice” Senator Stephen Douglas, in a speech in Peoria, Illinois.

“Choice” then was about slavery, not abortion.

Douglas sponsored the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which addressed the sticky question of how to deal with legality of slavery in new territories entering the union. The Kansas-Nebraska Act resolved this by “choice.” Residents would vote to decide if slavery would be legal in their territory.

Lincoln challenged Douglas’s “pro-choice” position on slavery. According to Douglas, said Lincoln, “…the principle of the Nebraska Bill was very old; that it originated when God made man and placed good and evil before him, allowing him to choose for himself, being responsible for the choice he should make.”

No, said Lincoln. “God did not place good and evil before man, telling him to make his choice. On the contrary, he did tell him there was one tree, of the fruit of which he should not eat, upon pain of certain death.”

March for Life Counters Lack of News Coverage With Social Media

By Alex Murashko , Christian Post ReporterJanuary 26, 2013

Participants in this year’s March for Life, marking the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, seemed less bothered by the mainstream media’s lack of coverage of the estimated half-million people descending on Washington, D.C. to demonstrate against abortion on Friday. That’s because they relied heavily on social media to help shine the spotlight on the movement.

Outside the march, supporters of the pro-life movement were not deterred either. Pope Benedict XVI gave a shout-out on Twitter in nine languages. “I join all those marching for life from afar, and pray that political leaders will protect the unborn and promote a culture of life,” Benedict tweeted. The Pope has 2.5 million followers on Twitter in just six-week time since he began using the social media heavyweight.

“We have the biggest social media movement online for the pro-life movement educating almost a million people a week with the truth about human life and abortion,” Lila Rose of Action Network, a pro-life investigative journalism group, told Fox News. “Our Facebook at over 430,000 is bigger than Planned Parenthood’s Facebook and they’re a billion dollar abortion chain.”

While TV reports on the march were scarce, a quick Google search Friday evening showed minimal mainstream online media coverage as well. The news of Burt Reynold’s bout with the flu that landed him in the hospital took the top-center slot at CNN.com, while the March for Life story was nowhere to be found on its homepage.
