My Muslim President Obama: Why Members Of The Islamic Faith See Him As One Of The Flock.

My Muslim President Obama
Written by Asma Gull Hasan, 02.25.09

Asma Gull HasanI know President Obama is not Muslim, but I am tempted nevertheless to think that he is, as are most Muslims I know. In a very unscientific oral poll, ranging from family members to Muslim acquaintances, many of us feel, just as African-Americans did for the non-black but culturally leaning African-American President Bill Clinton, that we have our first American Muslim president in Barack Hussein Obama.

I know it’s odd to say this. At first, I thought I was the only Muslim engaging in this folly, and I am reluctant to express it lest right-wing zealots try to use “Muslim” as a smear and cite my theory as proof of an Islamic traitor in the White House or some such nonsense. But, since Election Day, I have been part of more and more conversations with Muslims in which it was either offhandedly agreed that Obama is Muslim or enthusiastically blurted out. In commenting on our new president, “I have to support my fellow Muslim brother,” would slip out of my mouth before I had a chance to think twice.

“Well, I know he’s not really Muslim,” I would quickly add. But if the person I was talking to was Muslim, they would say, “yes he is.” They would cite his open nature and habit of reaching out to critics, reminiscent of the Prophet Muhammad’s own approach, and also Obama’s middle name, Hussein. Most of the Muslims I know (me included) can’t seem to accept that Obama is not Muslim. (more…)

Catholic Church Slams New Code Of Conduct Forcing Teachers To Promote Islam And Gay Rights

Oono StannardBy Simon Caldwell

Oona Stannard: ‘It would not be possible for a person of faith to promote another faith this is a matter of conscience’

The Roman Catholic Church has severely criticised a proposed new code of conduct for teachers which it says will force Christian schools to actively promote Islam and gay rights.

The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has warned the General Teaching Council, by the professional regulatory body, that many teachers will quit the profession because they will not be able to accept the revised code of conduct in good conscience.

Their advisers say the code would also seriously undermine the religious character of church schools by imposing on them a hostile form of secular morality.

The legally-binding code would discriminate against Christian teachers in recruitment and in the classroom, they say.

Principle 4 of the code demands that teachers ‘proactively challenge discrimination’ and ‘promote equality and value diversity in all their professional relationships and interactions’ before they can be registered. (more…)

Geert Wilders: The World Needs An International First Amendment And A Ban On All ‘Hate Speech’ Laws

I was at this press conference this morning at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Wilders stated the case for free speech forcefully. Will post video when available.

Geert Wilders will also be speaking tonight at 6PM EST at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, at an event sponsored by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, Atlas Shrugs, Jihad Watch, and Dr. Andrew Bostom.

“Geert Wilders: An International First Amendment and a ban on all ‘hate-speech’ laws; Keynotes Center-sponsored press conference,” a press release from the Center for Security Policy:

Washington, DC: Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders, founder and floor leader of the Freedom Party (PVV), and member of the Board of Advisors of the International Free Press Society (IFPS), recounted today before a packed audience in Washington’s National Press Club the recent, alarming attacks on free speech worldwide – including legal actions and death threats to which he and other political leaders and journalists have lately been exposed. ANTI-CONVERSION BILL Delayed In Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan FlagPastor Danny NalliahDear Family and Friends in Christ,

I wish to convey my sincere appreciation to all who prayed and acted in order to stop the above bill from getting through the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Below is a report I received a few days ago. Further, I personally spoke to several Christian leaders and others who have now advised me that the President has personally assured some of them that he will not let it pass through Parliament.

The delay tactic is because the President is planning on calling for elections this year and would dissolve Parliament before that. If this happens, all existing bills scheduled to go through Parliament will be automatically cancelled. (more…)

“God Uses Ordinary People!” Merrigum Harvest Weekend

Little Girl Accepts The Lord Into Her LifeThe CTFM Team at The FarmGod loves people, He uses ordinary people, He seeks humble, willing vessels simply available, and prepared to listen to His voice and obey. Who would have thought a small group of “seemingly” ordinary Christians in a sleepy country town called Merrigum (between Tatura and Kyabram, half hour from Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley) could have believed for Ps. Danny and the Catch The Fire Team (Dianne, Rosalie, Glen & Noreen) to join with them for a whole weekend and host a special worship weekend during the peak of the Goulburn Valley fruit-picking season? To be blessed in seeing God touch the hearts of so many young backpackers from the nations of the world as they stood to give thanks for our nation of Australia and their role in “the Harvest”.

Shalom Worship Centre, a non-denominational apostolic healing Church hosted a special prayer and worship weekend “Miracles in Merrigum” believing for God to bring hope and healing to our communities presently struggling with the many issues confronting both our farming communities, flood and fire victims, and those seriously affected by the global economic meltdown. Our nation needs prayer, our farmers need prayer, our leaders need prayer, …the Church needs to learn how to pray! Jesus is turning over the money tables in His Church, God is calling His House back to be what the Father had purposed – “that My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all Nations”! (Mathew 21:12-13, Isaiah 56:7, 11 Chronicles 6&7 –ordinances of prayer) (more…)

Largest Church In Middle East, Thriving In The United Arab Emirates, With Healings In Almost Every Main Service

Dr. V. DilkumarBy Aimee Herd

“Never did I ever expect such things, never, never… I only rejoice for what I am today because of Jesus.”

(Dubai, UAE)—One might expect to find such a vital Christian congregation as the King’s Revival flourishing in the US or Australia, however, this 7,000-member church, which has 24 pastors is situated in the Middle East.

King’s Revival Church International began as a small house church of just 7 people, led by Dr. V. Dilkumar, who moved from his native Sri Lanka in 1991 to Dubai, one of 7 states in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). From its humble start, the church grew to become the largest Evangelical church in the Middle East.

“Never did I ever expect such things, never, never,” Dr. Dilkumar told CBN News, “I only rejoice for what I am today because of Jesus.”

The founding pastor went on to explain that there are 14 services weekly at King’s Revival, 4 in English, the rest in other languages. (more…)

Salt Shakers E-News: Reflections On The ‘National Memorial Service’

Last week we mentioned the national memorial service for the bushfires – it was held on Sunday 22 February.

We noted that there had been one reference to it being ‘interfaith’ but that had been later reported as being ‘non-denominational’. . .

So what was the service really like?
The word we’d probably use to describe the service is ‘secular’.
It was hosted by ABC newsreader Ian Henderson and started with an Aboriginal ‘welcome to country’ by aboriginal elder Joy Murphy.
There were speeches by community representatives and members of the emergency services. The Governor General spoke with so many ‘platitudes’ it was hard to know what she really said, and Princess Anne gave a touching message from the Queen and herself.
There was talk of courage and resilience. There was no naming of the individuals who died – perhaps that was because the list is not final and the coroner’s reports have not been completed. (more…)

Don’t Marriage Vows Matter Anymore?

By Jack Hayford

The recent rash of marital failures among high-profile Christian leaders is forcing a showdown in the church. It isn’t a showdown between those who have failed and those who might criticize them–it’s a confrontation needed to face down a mind-set that, if left unchanged, will bring an onslaught of hellish delusion.

It’s time we take a hard look at why so many marriages–especially of those in leadership–are being torn apart. We need to know how to respond and what the consequences could be if decisive action is not taken now.

There simply is no way to describe the present situation in lesser terms: We are at a point of crisis.

Failure has been evident across the entire spectrum, from renowned evangelical Bible preachers to charismatic evangelists, and from noted national youth leaders to ascending Christian TV superstars. Though the unprecedented increase in the number of broken marriages and moral failures occurring in general among church leaders is tragic enough, the crisis is amplified when high-visibility leaders go in and out of marriages. Alan Keyes Political Discernment on President Obama & A Letter To Rick Warren

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,

1) Thank the Lord Jesus that Bible-believing God-fearing Christians can be filled and led by the indwelling Holy Spirit of godly revelation, spiritual discernment, and prophetic truth, as things are not always as they appear to be!

Following are two very impacting interviews with US Political Activist Alan Keyes, a fair-dinkum Christian in the public arena and powerful prophetic voice to the Government and people of the United States of America.

Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham’s Daughter) Comments on Devastation in USA

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show (USA) after the fierce devastation left by Hurricane Katrina in the southern parts of USA in 2005. Anne Graham Lotz gave an extremely profound and insightful response.

Jane Clayson: ‘How could God let something like this happen?’

Anne Graham Lotz: ‘I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.  And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.  How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?’

A God Of Justice or Love? What Does the Bible say?

Pastor Danny & Wife MaryseDear friends and family in Christ,

All glory to God as we continue to serve the Lord through His grace and strength standing strong for the truth of His Word in the mighty Name of Jesus!

There has been much speculation and discussion in the Church (Body of Christ) as to the timing of my article recently released through the media. Following is an excerpt from the dream which was published in the article. “In my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God. That His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.”

I was led by the Holy Spirit to write the article and when it was finished, I took it to the office, but knowing the furor that it may cause, took it home with me again.  On Day 2, I took it back to the office, but still could not release it.  On Day 3, the Lord asked me whether I was going to listen to Him or to man, (including other pastors, ministers, and Christian leaders). In the words of Paul the Apostle, sent not from man or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, writing to the Galatians (born-again Spirit-filled Christians), “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10) (more…)

Pastor Danny Ministering In Corryong

Believers Pray For Pr DannyThe following is a letter that was sent to Pr Danny, from Pr Douglas & Carol Allen, after he ministered in their church in Corryong:

“What an amazing weekend…. Pastor Danny and his team arrived here in the High Country of North East Victoria (Corryong) Saturday afternoon after a 5 and a half hour drive from Melbourne. Praise God for their faithfulness in coming to our small community to be a blessing.

Standing United At The AltarAs the people started to arrive Saturday evening God spoke into Pst Danny’s heart about a young man who needed a deep touch from God, including salvation. He Touched By The Holy Spiritcalled him out and spoke a word over him which was totally spot on for the crisis he is going through. Praise the Lord for a good work which has begun. Also that same night he spoke into the lives of couples who belong to the fellowship with regards to what God has in store for them and how God is going to use them in the days to come. We, being the Pastors, know just how our people needed to hear these words, which once again from our knowledge of these precious folk was so spot on! Thank you Pastor Danny and team (Barry & Susanna & Barry & Cheryl) for being so sensitive and passing onto to us what you heard from God.

The Word which was ministered on Sunday morning was awesome (1Kings 16 & 17 ) We believe great fruit will come about from this. The Presence of God was beautiful and tangible. (in all meetings!) (more…)

Luther Rome And The Bible

Editors comments:  There is no doubt we are seeing the most significant shift within the Christian Church, and indeed in the nations, in our lifetime, as the “Season of Change” that we have been proclaiming for more than 12 months now begins to take shape. An article in next weeks International News for example tells of an atheist who is proclaiming that Christianity is the only hope for Africa. In this article another major shift of potentially great spiritual significance has begun within the Roman Catholic Church as an initiative of the Pope. Whilst there are still many theological and doctrinal differences between Rome and the Protestant Church, we can only watch and marvel at how God is changing long standing paradigms and moving mountains to bring His purposes to pass in our day.

LUTHER, ROME & THE BIBLE

By Jeff Fountain, Protestant leader within the International Prayer Movement

Luther would have been amazed at the efforts of the Vatican today to put the Bible back into the heart of the Roman Catholic Church. In October last, bishops from around the world were called to Rome for a three-week synod to discuss how to promote prayerful reading, understanding and proclamation of God’s Word. Pope Benedict XVI himself kicked off the synod with a round-the-clock Bible reading marathon lasting a whole week, by reading the opening verses of Genesis. Twelve hundred readers took part, including Orthodox and Evangelical leaders. (more…)

85-Year-Old Retired Pastor Has Witnessed To 10,000 People; His Goal Is 50,000

Ted CottenBy Teresa Neumann

What an inspiration. Truly.

(Longview, WA)—As reported in Baptist Press News (BPN), having kept written track over the years, 85-year-old retired pastor Ted Cotten has now witnessed to 10,000 people. “If God lets me live long enough,” he said, “my goal is to reach 50,000.”

How does he do it? Wherever he goes—restaurants, stores, banks, sporting events, vacation spots—Cotten reportedly asks people if they’d be willing to read a short prayer (of salvation) he says changed his life more than 70 years ago. (more…)
