Pakistan imam held for evidence tampering in blasphemy case

Sapa-AFP | 02 September, 2012

A Pakistani cleric who submitted evidence against a Christian girl accused of blasphemy has been arrested on suspicion of evidence-tampering and desecrating the Koran, police say.

Rimsha has been in custody since she was arrested in the poor Islamabad suburb of Mehrabad more than two weeks ago accused of burning papers containing verses from the Koran, in breach of Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws.

Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the imam of the mosque in Rimsha’s area who first handed over evidence, was arrested on Saturday after his assistants told a magistrate he had added pages from the Koran to the burnt pages to strengthen the case against the girl.

“The imam was arrested after his deputy Maulvi Zubair and two others told a magistrate he added pages from the Koran to the burnt pages brought to him by a witness,” police investigator Munir Hussain Jaffri said. (more…)

Pr Daniel returns to Australia after a great ministry tour of US & Canada

Dear family & friends in Christ,

We thank and praise God for His mighty hand at work during our recent ministry tour of US & Canada! It was so great to have my wife Maryse and our youngest daughter Brianna with us. We’re so happy to be back home in Australia, as there is no place like home. We also dearly missed our son Nigel & daughter Shannen very much, as they could not join us on this trip.

Call me bias, but I cannot help it to say that there is no place like Australia. Everywhere we went, when people heard that we were from Australia, there was such a warm welcome, including at many airport check points and with custom officials. Praise God that Australia has become a good friend of many nations and we thank God for the favour Australia has around the world.

I had the wonderful privilege of ministering with Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. God opened the door for me to minister at three different churches and to be on SBN TV, including the ‘Francis & Friends’ Program, which reaches a potential of tens of millions of people in America and around the world, including Australia. The feedback was amazing, with many greatly challenged to take a stand for Jesus and their nation.

At Pr Jimmy’s church, people were mightily touched by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, as almost the whole church came to the altar to stand in the gap to pray for America. This happened in almost every church where I ministered, particularly because the US is facing a very important election in a few months which may very well determine the destiny of this great nation of America.

In Toronto, Canada,  it was so great to catch up with family and friends at a family wedding. The re-union was so great. I also had the wonderful opportunity to minister at ‘Miracle Family Temple Church’ in Toronto. At these revival meetings, many received a mighty healing touch from God, with others set free from demons. In this church a lady who was completely deaf in her left ear, was instantly healed. I trust that many of you have already read this exciting testimony and watched the videos. For those who haven’t yet, you may click the following two links to watch, one of the lady receiving prayer and the other of her sharing her testimony with tears of joy.

Israel accuses Obama administration of sending ‘mixed messages’ to Iran

By Richard Spencer, Middle East Correspondent  Telegraph.co.uk – 31 Aug 2012

Israel’s vice prime minister has attacked the Obama administration for sending “mixed messages” to Iran in the wake of a report saying Tehran had more than doubled its capacity to enrich uranium.

Moshe Yaalon made explicit the growing gulf between Israel and its closest ally, the United States, saying that Iran did not take seriously the military threat it was under over its nuclear programme.

“We have an exchange of views, including with our friends in the United States, who in our opinion, are in part responsible for this feeling in Iran,” he told Israeli radio. “There are many cracks in the ring closing tighter on Iran. We criticise this.”

Mr Yaalon’s criticism is striking because he has been among those in the Israeli cabinet believed to have been urging time for sanctions against Iran to be allowed to work.

However, the rate of progress in the Iranian nuclear programme, even if there is no firm evidence that it intends to push ahead with building a nuclear weapon, is being used by Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, and Ehud Barak, defence minister, to back their case that a military strike is needed sooner rather than later.

Julia Gillard cancels speech at Australian Christian Lobby conference over ‘smoking healthier than gay marriage’ slur

Herald Sun by Malcolm Farr- September 06, 2012

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard will boycott the annual conference of a major Christian group because of its “heartless” attitude towards homosexuals.

Ms Gillard was to have given the keynote address to the Australian Christian Lobby next month but today cancelled her appearance.

She accused ACL managing director Jim Wallace of offensive comments Wednesday when he compared gay marriage with the health risks of smoking. Mr Wallace repeated his comments in a statement today.

The Prime Minister has said she opposes gay marriage but today took the significant step of defending those who are agitating for law changes to allow it. In political terms the Prime Minister was ensuring she did not lose the influential gay vote in inner city areas.

“There is a range of deeply held views in the community on the issue of same-sex marriage but it is the responsibility of all parties in this debate to be respectful and responsible in any public comments they make,” the Prime Minister said today in a statement.

New Reality TV series called “Becoming…Christian from Muslim”

By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries –  August 16, 2012

Wow, wow. It’s great!‘ says a former Muslim who is considering the Christian faith.

LOS ANGELES, CA (ANS) — Reality television: can we possibly need more? Yes, according to Joseph Nassrallah, CEO of The Way TV (www.atvsat.com/en). He believes the world needs to know about when a Muslim becomes a Christian.

Nassrallah is confident the new series will make an impact. “Becoming… Christian from Muslim is one of the strongest, most attractive and well prepared preaching series,” he says. “I pray the Lord will use it to attract millions, through satellites, into His blessed fold.”This month The Way TV begins broadcasting a reality series on the discipleship of a previously Muslim new believer.

Traditionally, no Christian from a Muslim background would take the risk of showing their face on television. But in the last decade all that has changed. Former Muslims are becoming bolder in their love for Christ and desire to see other Muslims saved through him. Huda, the series’ new believer is one of them.

“I want to join this program,” says Huda, whose name means enlightened, “because there are a lot of things unknown to people like myself who are from a Muslim background. Before, I didn’t know anything about the Lord Jesus. Through this program I am happy to share the answers to questions that will enlighten others as much as they will enlighten me.”

12 Lessons of Fatherhood

By Thom S. Rainer , Christian Post Guest Columnist – July 6, 2012

I once did an interview for an online publication, and one of the questions was: “Who has been the greatest leadership influence in your life?” Without hesitation, I wrote: “My three sons: Sam, Art, and Jess.”

Fatherhood has been an educational journey that no school could provide. I have learned so much. And even to this day, I listen to my sons. They may think that I am offering them words of wisdom, but I am learning from them as well.

I do not see myself as the great expert on fatherhood. I hope I have been transparent and honest in my self-assessment, especially with the weaknesses and faults that I have.

I also realize that the far superior parent in our family is my wife, Nellie Jo. I have never seen such sacrificial and unconditional love flow from one human to another. She is the true instrument of God who raised our three sons so well.

But this is a post about fatherhood. At the end of the day, I have several lessons that I have learned about the great challenge of being a dad. Thank you for allowing this fellow struggler the opportunity to share these lessons.

Lesson 1: Children Are Precious Gifts From God

If we parents ever fully recognize the incredible gift we have been given in our children, our attitude about them will be one of unceasing praise. I realize that not every couple has been given children. And I realize that I do not deserve my sons any more than husbands and wives who have not been blessed with children. They are gifts of grace. Undeserved and unmerited.

Petition to Congress Claims US Aiding Muslim Brother in Oppression of Christians

By Stoyan Zaimov , Christian Post Reporter – August 13, 2012

petition aimed at Congress is seeking to expose President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s alleged support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a conservative Islamic group said to be endangering the lives of Christians in the Middle East with its influence on the new government.

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s Freedom and Justice Party is closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is reportedly working toward establishing Sharia law in the country, which observers say threatens the religious liberties and even lives of those who are not Islamic.

“In fact, in his speech at his swearing-in ceremony on Friday, June 29, 2012, he promised to try to free the Egyptian-born militant Islamist, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, who was convicted of planning to attack other New York City landmarks after the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center,” the petition states.

The letter, published on Petition2Congress and bearing no information as to who produced it, also claims that thousands of Christian minorities in the Middle East are being forced to flee their homes as the threat of radical Islam grows bigger. It also claims that in the first 10 days of this year’s Ramadan, there have reportedly been eight big attacks on Christians in Egypt alone.

Homosexuality a personal choice, says New Zealand Conservative Party leader

New Zealand Herald ^ posted on Saturday, August 04, 2012 by gareththomasnz

Conservative Party leader Colin Craig has sparked outrage by saying homosexuality is a choice and gay people are more likely to have been abused as children.

The comments on TV3’s The Nation this morning came in a discussion with Labour MP Louisa Wall over her bill to legalise same-sex marriage.

Asked if he thought the bill might encourage homosexuality, Mr Craig replied people chose to be homosexual and factors other than genetics could determine whether someone was gay.

“I think most people recognise that there are other influences such as upbringing, such as events in life,” he said.

“For homosexuals, they are statistically far more likely to have suffered child abuses as a child… It certainly can make a difference in someone’s choices in life, there’s no question about that in my mind.”

Muslim Man’s Desperate Cries to Muhammad Go Unanswered, Then He Calls Out to God—and Meets Jesus

Aimee Herd (Aug 10, 2012)

“He said, ‘I am the God of the Christians.’ And He said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.'” -Nasir Siddiki

In an incredible account of miraculous healing and redemption, Nasir Siddiki shared his testimony with Charisma News, recently, reminding Believers that “love never fails,” and that it will prevail in every situation.

Siddiki was a Muslim businessman when he broke out in a life-threatening case of shingles back in 1987. His blisters spread from his forehead down the side of his face, neck and on his shoulders. His ear became deformed with the extremely painful virus, and his temperature raged at 107.6 degrees.

At the time, Toronto General Hospital in Canada—where Siddiki lay fighting off death—called it the worst case of shingles in the hospital’s history.

Siddiki told Charisma News how he—on the verge of death—cried out to Muhammad; with silence his only answer. Alone and afraid, he remembered some of the stories he’d heard about the prophet Jesus, and prayed, “God if You’re real, don’t let me die.”

According to the report, Siddiki was passionate as he described the One who suddenly entered his hospital room, “It was the outline of a Person. I couldn’t see the facial features because there was so much light shining from this Person.”

“This Person spoke without opening Their mouth . . . He said, ‘I am the God of the Christians.’ And He said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.’

Siddiki stated emphatically, “It was Jesus Christ.”

What Is a Christian?

By Dan Delzell , Special to Christian Post – August 5, 2012

So what exactly is a Christian? Is it a person who believes certain things? Or maybe a person who does certain things? Or is it perhaps a person who experiences certain things? Yes. Bingo. That is correct….on all counts. All three of those characteristics describe what it means to be a Christian.

You cannot be a Christian without believing in Jesus as your Savior. Secondly, you are not a Christian unless you experience “streams of living water” flowing within you. That is the presence of God inside your body and soul. Without that experience, you are not born again no matter how much window dressing there may be in your outer life of religion and morality. Finally, you are not a Christian if you are not following Jesus. That is the “doing” part.

Your entrance into Christianity begins with belief. At that moment, you also experience the new birth. The streams of living water which enter you at conversion immediately begin to propel you in the direction of serving God, loving God, and loving others.

Jesus said, “If a man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” (John 7:37,38) That is the wellspring of God….and it flows within every Christian….within each person who has been converted, that is, born again.

Islam’s Universal Economic Failure

Posted by Daniel Greenfield Bio ? on Aug 1st, 2012

If Romney accomplished nothing else during his Israeli visit, he did manage to offend every single Palestinian Arab terrorist group, all of whom, the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP and the DFLP, issued press releases denouncing him. American media outlets have been denouncing him for saying that the GDP Per Capita differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority represent a contrast in values.

The official media narrative is that these differences are the results of oppression, checkpoints and blockades. But then why does the IMF put Israel’s GDP Per Capita well ahead of the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has no Israeli checkpoints, no Israeli soldiers or planes flying overhead. It has wealth literally pouring out of the ground with a fifth of the world’s petroleum reserves. And yet the IMF puts it 13 places behind Israel and the World Bank puts it 8 places behind Israel. The only Muslim countries with a better GDP Per Capita than Israel are small monarchies drowning in oil.

The non-oil Muslim countries who are closest to Israel are Malaysia and Lebanon, 32 and 33 places behind Israel. Both countries also have sizable non-Muslim populations. Muslims make up only 50 percent of Lebanon and only 60 percent of Malaysia. No Muslim country without oil has a better GDP Per Capita than a Muslim country with sizable Christian or Buddhist minorities.

Evangelical Population Explodes in Brazil as Catholic Church Shows Signs of Decline

By Andrea Madambashi , Christian Post Correspondent – July 1, 2012

The evangelical population of Brazil increased by 16 million people over the 10 year period from 2000 to 2010 to 42.3 million, according to census results from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) published Friday.

The 2010 census results reveal that over the three decades to 2010 the percentage of evangelicals jumped from 6.6 percent to 22.2 percent of the overall Brazilian population; making it the fastest growing religious segment in the Latin American country.

However, despite the rapid evangelical growth, the Catholic population has decreased over the same 10 year period. In 2000 the Catholic population represented 73.6 percent of Brazil’s population, but by 2010 that percentage had decreased to under two-thirds at 64.6 percent.
