Canberra – Service in Federal Parliament on October 22nd 2007

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,

During my meeting with the Prime Minister on 10th August 2007, I discussed the possibility of calling the Church across Australia to come together in Federal Parliament for a service of corporate prayer and thanksgiving in recognition of the rainfall throughout our nation, in addition to praying for the upcoming election. It is therefore with great joy I announce that this service will be held on 22nd October 2007 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Great Hall in Parliament House, Canberra. (more…)

John Howard: Champion for Israel – Article by Isi Leibler

RE Multi-culturalism
“Howard was concerned that multi-culturalism would encourage minorities to create self-contained enclaves and discourage integration.  Well before Islamic extremism raised its ugly head, he warned that anti-democratic elements would exploit multi-culturalism in order to undermine the open society”.

Re Israel
“Howard’s friendship towards Jews can be traced back to his days as a young lawyer in a legal firm with Jewish principals.  He first visited Israel in 1962 and since then has remained a champion of the Jewish State.  His feelings are best reflected in his own words: ‘The personal affection I have for the State of Israel, the personal regard I have for the Jewish peoeple of the world, will never be diminished.  It is something I hold dearly, something I value as part of my being and as part of what I have tried to do with my life.'”

(After meeting with Arafat, Howard told Leibler): “I want you to know that should Arafat ever renege on the commitments to peace he conveyed today, I give you a solemn undertaking that if I am still prime minister, the Australian Jewish community and the people of Israel will never have reason to feel that I forsook them.”  Howard kept his word.  In subsequent years Australia walked a lonely path, courageously supporting Israel…He never deviated from his commitment. Catholic Bishopby Dan Wooding : Sep 24, 2007 : ASSIST Ministries

“We see this as the hand of God”

(Tripoli, Libya)—A new wave of religious freedom is sweeping across Libya, say Christians in the North African country. This follows three decades during which, observers say, the tiny Christian community faced restrictions due to the overwhelmingly Muslim nation’s hostile stance towards the West, writes Fredrick Nzwili in a story for Ecumenical News International. Experience/Relationship or Academic? Article by Pastor Danny Nalliah

Danny NalliahExperience / Relationship or Academic?

After much thought and prayer I have decided to release this article in response to the many emails I received after the prophecy released regarding the next federal election. Most of the emails we received were very positive and thanking God for direction. We also were glad to receive a few extremely negative emails from Christians who were absolutely furious with what I have declared regarding the election. Thank God we are in Australia, we are a democracy, and you certainly have the right to express yourself. And I enjoy reading your comments… (more…)

“… if you’re even vaguely familiar with classical Islamic tradition, you’ll recognise at once that we’ve had our reformation, and it’s called al-Qaeda,” Waleed Aly, prominent Australian Muslim and media commentator

THE world, as the pundits ritually remind us at this time each year, changed drastically and irrevocably with the terrorist attacks on the US on September 11, 2001. And for no group of people has this been more true than for Muslims living in the West.

Ex-KKK leader to speak at presominantly black church

By MEGAN PILLOW     Mooresville Tribune USA  Friday, August 31, 2007

Johnny Lee Clary’s early life reads like a storyline from D.W. Griffith’s infamous 1915 film The Birth of a Nation. Raised in a family plagued by hatred and racism, Clary was recruited at age 14 by David Duke into the Ku Klux Klan and spent the next 16 years in the thrall of the organization.
In time, Clary rose to its pinnacle, becoming the Imperial Wizard of the White Knights of the KKK, the most militant and violent of all Klan groups.
But in 1990, at age 30 — and after arrests, infighting among Klan members, and the realization his girlfriend was an FBI  informant — Clary did something nearly unheard of. He broke from the Klan. (more…)

Hello Friends, Prayer Warriors & Intercessors,  (from Chris Burke     Prayer Coordinator    www.prayforme.com.au)

It is also looking at overriding the Northern Territory’s liberal censorship laws, which allow for the sale of explicit pornography and restricting the supply of similar material out of the ACT, which has a large mail-order business. Sri Lanka – 21st September – A Call To Prayer

Sri Lanka In NeedDear Friends and Family in Christ,   (from Pastor Danny)

As I’ve been crying out in persistent prayer to the Lord for Australia’s Transformation, I’ve been constantly mindful of my home country of birth, Sri Lanka, (currently both the families of my wife and I are living there) which has been devastated by civil war for the past 25 years.Sri Lanka Leaflet

I feel at times for Sri Lanka as Nehemiah felt for Jerusalem, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:3-4
