VICTORIA, British Columbia, February 11, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Canadian father and husband is experiencing an impossible mix of emotions at the birth of his first child followed by the passing of his wife, who was declared ‘brain dead’ by doctors in December.
Baby Iver Cohen Benson, who shot to international fame after his father Dylan requested that doctors keep his wife Robyn on life support to give his unborn son what he called a “chance of survival,” was born Saturday at a Victoria hospital.
“On Saturday evening, my beautiful and amazing son, Iver Cohen Benson, was born. Iver is healthy and is the cutest and most precious person I have ever met,” Benson wrote on his blog.
Doctors had declared Robyn Benson, 32, “brain dead” at the end of December, one day after suddenly suffering a massive blood leak to her brain. She was 22 weeks pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Despite the abundant attestation for child marriage in Islamic law, most non-Muslims remain completely ignorant of it, because Islamic apologists in the West routinely deny that it exists, insisting that Aisha was 18 when Muhammad married her, and claiming that the incidence of child marriage in Muslim countries is due solely to cultural factors (they hope you don’t notice that those cultures are Islamic).
Those who point out that child marriage will come West with Muslim immigrants receive in response only ridicule and scorn as “bigots” and “Islamophobes.” But note that this story is from Australia, not Yemen or Iran or Saudi Arabia. And while Ahmad Chamma has been prosecuted, watch for pressure to amount to lower the legal marriage age, on the grounds of “multiculturalism” and “tolerance.”
Few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. Islamic tradition records that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage:
“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).

OXFORD, UK, February 27, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A student at Oxford University committed suicide last year mere hours after her boyfriend broke up with her. The boyfriend told an inquest recently that the young woman’s grief had begun only three months earlier after he convinced her to get an abortion, The Daily Mail reports.
Charlotte Coursier, 25, was also troubled by a “campaign of harassment” against her by college lecturer Dr Jeffrey Ketland, with whom she had previously had a sexual relationship, the paper reports.
In June, Coursier was found after hanging herself in her home.
She had begun dating Ben Fardell in July 2012. “In the first six months there were issues of trust and commitment in the relationship,” Fardell told the inquest. “But Charlotte was much better in the new year. Then, in February, she discovered she was seven weeks pregnant despite taking contraception.”

I’ve often wondered why the apostle Paul, writing to Pastor Titus, told him the things that should be taught to women and men. In this list for women, recorded in Titus, chapter 2, he says (paraphrased), “This is sound doctrine. … I am writing these things so the Word of God will not be dishonored.”
Paul tells older women how to live and that their responsibility is to train younger women. In the list—we could call it the curriculum—one of the odd things to me is that he tells older women to teach younger women to love their children (v. 4).
It seems abnormal to think of a mother not loving her children. Yet in these times, we are witnessing mothers killing their children, abandoning their children, neglecting their children and abusing their children. Evidently this was happening at that time as well. Now mothers even rid themselves of their unborn babies.
Mothers are going their own way, selfishly seeking their own fulfillment to the ruin of their children. Observing the behaviors of many mothers, it seems they think children have no feelings, memories or understanding, while all the while they are scarring the emotions of their children’s souls.
