Military Troops Request More Scripture in Afghanistan

solidiers at the frontThursday, 11 November 2010 04:00 PM EST Danielle Tomlinson News – Featured News

Since October there has been an overwhelming demand from troops in Afghanistan for the Military BibleStick, an MP3 audio Bible with the entire New Testament preloaded from Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH).

Military chaplains overseas have recently requested more than 20,000 audio Bibles for the troops. FCBH reports they will be able to meet about half of their need.  “Our heart as a ministry is to provide the Scriptures in audio to anyone who asks,” said Jon Wilke, spokesman for the Military BiblesStick project. “However, the demand for these devices—for God’s Word in audio format—has just been overwhelming.”

The Military BibleSticks are sent to military chaplains free of charge based on donations from churches and other organizations. The audio Bibles retail for $25 and FCBH has distributed more than 70,000 BibleSticks to military troops overseas in Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo and Afghanistan since 2008.

Franklin Graham: Christians Will Lose the Power to Pray Outside Church Walls ‘Maybe in My Lifetime’

C:\\Documents and Settings\\JASONG\\Desktop\\Franklin Graham.jpgWednesday, May 05, 2010 By Pete Winn, Senior Writer/Editor, CNS News
Two top evangelical leaders sounded a defiant tone on the eve of National Day of Prayer — warning that the American right to freedom of religion “is being eroded every day” and may be lost in an onslaught of secularism unless Americans “have the guts to stand up.”

The Rev. Franklin Graham, who last month was officially “dis-invited” by the Army to speak at a National Day of Prayer ceremony at the Pentagon for statements he made about Islam, said he will not back down in preaching the Gospel as he sees it.

“We’re living in a time where we cannot compromise, we cannot back up, we cannot retreat,” Graham said Wednesday during a live Webcast from the Washington, D.C. offices of the Family Research Council.

“The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be preached to the ends of the Earth – that’s what He’s called us to do,” he said.

Graham, the honorary chairman of this year’s National Day of Prayer, made his comments in a sermon to an audience of leaders making final preparations for Thursday’s National Day of Prayer. (more…)

Ex-Muslim Defends Franklin Graham’s Islam Remarks

By Michelle A. Vu, Christian Post Reporter, Thursday April 29th

Graham and others like him who criticize Islam are not saying they hate Muslims, said Sabatina James, a well-known Paskistani convert to Christianity who lives in Europe, in an interview with The Christian Post on Wednesday.

The granddaughter of a mullah weighed in on the Franklin Graham controversy this week, contending that there is a difference between critisizing Islam and Muslims

“Make the difference between sin and sinner,” said James, “between Islam and Muslims. Don’t say that every Muslim is a terrorist and every Muslim is bad because that is just not true. But there are definitely things that need to be changed in Islam or else you can’t live in a democracy.”

James, who is living under police protection and constantly on the move because of death threats against her, said Islamic rights do not fit in a country like the United States.

“Nobody is allowed to beat up his wife just because she’s not obedient but that is written in the Quran,” she said. “You know you have to think about it.”

“Is there a different Quran? No they are teaching the same Quran where it is written ‘beat your wife if she is not obedient.’ They are teaching the same Quran where it is written ‘the Christians and Jewish people are evil.’ It is written in the Surah Al-Maidah. It is written there ‘don’t take Jewish and Christian people as your friend.’ That is what you are taught in the Quran schools.” (more…)

Harry Potter Star Blasts Parents Who Oppose Gay Sex Ed In Schools

Daniel Radcliffe - Harry PotterBy John-Henry Westen – LONDON, August 13, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com)

20-year-old Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has, in an interview with a homosexual magazine, expressed anger and intolerance for parents who oppose education about homosexual sex in the classroom.  “Then there’s all this stuff at the moment, which is hateful, about people being up in arms about the idea of gay sex education in schools.  Hello!?!  Actually for the one or two gay kids in the class, it’s f***ing vital!  It really makes me angry,” he said in an interview with Attitude.

The magazine quotes Radcliffe continuing his tirade against pro-family parents saying: “I just loathe homophobia. It’s just disgusting and animal and stupid and it’s just thick people who can’t get their heads around it and are just scared.”

He concluded the point assuring his interviewer, “I’m not just saying that because I’m being interviewed for Attitude. I’d be using a lot stronger language if this wasn’t on tape.”

Pastor Danny On Chasers ABC TV

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,

We Aussies love a bit of humor and thought that the following segment of Chasers on ABC TV trying to have a go at Pastor Danny will interest you.

Although we do not in any way support them and we strongly disagree with their regular content, interestingly enough, this particular program focuses on Pastor Danny receiving a warning dream from God four months before the recent bushfires in Victoria.

Varieties Of Intolerance: Religious And Secular

By Cardinal George Pell

Cardinal George PellLet me begin with two tales of intolerance.

On November 4 last year, the day Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, California and two other states also voted to amend their constitutions to define marriage as between a man and a woman only. This brought to 29 the number of American states with constitutional amendments recognizing only marriage between a man and a woman as valid, including Arizona which amended its constitution in 2008 after rejecting a proposed amendment in 2006. 42 states also have statutes defending the traditional understanding of marriage1. Only Massachusetts and Connecticut have legalized same-sex marriage – by court decisions, not legislation – and California’s Supreme Court had also legalized same sex marriage in May 2008, when it struck down a marriage amendment made to the state constitution in 2000. The new amendment passed last November – known as Proposition 8 – is now itself before the California Supreme Court, which yesterday [March 5] heard argument in three cases claiming it is unconstitutional. We can expect a decision from the court within the next three months2. (more…)

End Of Year Get Together December 2008

A wonderful evening of fellowship, food and lots of laughter – which was heard from those gathering at the Catch The Fire End of Year “Get-2-Gether” where 100 happy people gathered to enjoy a special night together!
Familes chatted and friendships renewed as an evening of honouring saw Pastor Danny & Maryse present small gifts of appreciation to team members, expressing their thankfulness for support and co-operation toward the vision.

This event is always looked forward to and year by year we seek larger venues as the team grows. A sense of excitment at the new year so full of promise and new premises to move into, to facilitate the busy office and extensive activity, was evident from those gathered. (more…)

Christians Promote “Parliament Of The World’s Religions”

The Parliament of the World’s Religions has caused us considerable concern over recent years as it promotes interfaith activities and puts all religions on a ‘level playing field’.

The next Parliament of the World’s Religions will be held in Melbourne in December 2009.
In Melbourne today, Thursday 6 December, there is a ‘launch’ to promote the Parliament and start taking registrations.

Of particular concern is that some Christians are actively promoting the event as something that ‘real’ Christians should endorse. Yes, ‘real’ is the word used! With the quote marks!

The official “Christian Media Alert” encourages Christian radio to support and promote the event and says “Some 200 religious and spiritual leaders will stand side-by-side at the launch, from Christian bishops to Muslim imams, Jewish rabbis, Hindu priests, Buddhist teachers and more.”
This ‘Christian Media Alert’ named Tim Costello and Rowland Croucher as promoting this event.
More on this aspect below… First, what is the Parliament of the World’s Religions’? (more…)

My stand On Catholicism – Pastor Danny Nalliah

Dear family in Christ,

Pastor Danny NalliahRecently I have been asked by a number of believers where I stand in relation to the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope and Roman Catholic doctrine because of entries on the Catch the Fire website.

There are many Born Again believers in the Roman Catholic Church who are saved and going to Heaven, however, what I must clearly say is that they are NOT saved by following the doctrine, traditions and sacraments of Catholicism. Those who are saved, are saved by the grace of God through faith in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, nothing more and nothing less.

During World Youth Week, amongst the massive crowd I saw many, many Born Again God loving young people rejoicing together and also many others who were so hungry for more than this world can offer and seeking something. This gives me great hope that our prayers for revival are being answered, may these hungry young people find salvation in Jesus. (more…)
