Russia retaliates: New report says EU’s promotion of homosexuality ignores real human rights issues

Russia retaliates New report says EU’s promotion of homosexuality ignores real human rights issuesby Hilary White, Rome Correspondent – Jan 16, 2014

MOSCOW, January 16, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Far from backing down on its national ban on homosexual propaganda, the Russian government is going on the offensive, saying the European Union’s promotion of homosexuality has led it to ignore real human rights violations, including the growth of ultra-nationalist and neo-Nazi groups.

Since the bill was signed into law, Russia has been the target of a massive international campaign, spearheaded by the European Union and homosexual campaigners at the EU, to overturn it.

A report on human rights to the EU by the Russian government, accuses the EU of “the dissemination of their neo-liberal values as a universal lifestyle for all other members of the international community.”

“This is particularly evident in their aggressive promotion of the sexual minorities’ rights,” the report said. “Attempts have been made to enforce on other countries an alien view of homosexuality and same-sex marriages as a norm of life and some kind of a natural social phenomenon that deserves support at the state level.” (more…)

Beheadings, Bombings and New York’s Little Bangladesh

Beheadings, Bombings and New York’s Little BangladeshJanuary 16, 2014 by Daniel Greenfield

Walk along Church Avenue and turn east onto McDonald Avenue and you will see where the old standards of working class Brooklyn, aging homes with faded American flags and loose siding, surly bars tucked into the shadows of street corners and the last video stores hanging on to a dying industry give way to mosques and grocery stores selling goat meat.

Mosques grow like mushrooms in basements, cell phone stores offer easy ways to wire money back to Bangladesh and old men glare at interlopers, especially if they are infidel women.

This is where Mohammed Siddiquee settled a dispute the old-fashioned way by beheading his landlord.

Mohammed wasn’t the first man in Brooklyn to use violence to settle a rental dispute, but beheadings are more traditional in his native Bangladesh than in Brooklyn, though over in neighboring Queens, Ashrafuzzaman Khan, Bangladesh’s most wanted war criminal, heads up the local Islamic Circle of North America, whose Islamist thugs beheaded poets and buried professors in mass graves.

Here in Kensington, where the alphabet streets that march across Brooklyn down to the ocean begin, the bars retreat along with the alphabet from those areas marked by the crescent and the angry glare. And there is another one like it at the other end of the alphabet where the Atlantic Ocean terminates the letters at Avenue Z bookending the Brooklyn alphabet with angry old men and phone cards for Bangladesh.

Pakistani government shows no sign of taking action over the Federal Shariah Court’s blasphemy law ruling

Sharia LawThursday, January 16, 2014 – By Dan Wooding – Founder of ASSIST Ministries

PAKISTAN (ANS) — Last month, the Federal Shariah Court (FSC) of Pakistan ordered that the death penalty be the “only punishment for a blasphemer”, and that life imprisonment be removed as an option.

“The Pakistani government has been given until next month to implement the order and time is running out if the decision is to be challenged,” Nasir Saeed, Director of CLAAS-UK (www.claas.org.uk), told the ASSIST News Service (www.assistnews.net).

He said that CLAAS [Centre for Legal Aid Assistance & Settlement] is concerned that if the order is followed, this law will become a Shariah law, causing many complications, and blasphemy cases will have to be heard in Shariah courts.

“The original order was made in 1990, but the government failed to implement the order and therefore 23 years later, once again the order is being reinforced,” Saeed went on to say.

How the lies of ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ continue to put the West in peril

Celebrated movie served as foundation for utterly false and baseless concepts leading to denial, destruction and death28 January 2014 – By Dr. Reuven Berko – Jewish World Review

Peter O’Toole, who was marvelous in “Lawrence of Arabia,” died recently. Many commentators and critics feel that Lawrence’s story and the movie about him influenced the actions of many European statesmen, politicians, and members of Western foreign ministries and security services. However, there is considerable argument as to whether and what, as a matter of historical fact, T. E. Lawrence contributed to the British war effort by collaborating with the Bedouin tribes of the Arabian Peninsula against the Ottoman Turks during the First World War. Not all historians agree to the truth of the glowing reports of his personality, moral stature and personal behavior.

Nevertheless, the enigmatic figure of Lawrence, an intelligence officer, became a role model for Western diplomats and statesmen, and he is revered as a master of mediating with the leaders of the Arab world. He seemed secretive and manipulative, with the rare ability and knowledge to exploit Arab ideology to achieve victory and foster the interests of the West, and to build inter-cultural cooperation and coexistence in a way that was both noble and romantic.

Sri Lanka: Christians protest after attacks by Buddhist extremists

Sri LankaThursday 30 January 2014 – Christian Today

More than 2,000 Christians gathered in Colombo on Sunday to protest against a perceived lack of religious freedom in Sri Lanka, following recent attacks on Christian places of worship by Buddhist extremists.

Two churches and a Christian prayer centre were attacked on Jan. 12 by Buddhist mobs claiming they were illegal and aiming to take Buddhists away from their religion.

The prayer centre, belonging to the Church of the Foursquare Gospel in Pitipana, near Colombo, was set alight on the same day as attacks on the Assemblies of God Church and Calvary Free Church in the southern coastal town of Hikkaduwa.

The fire was quelled in Pitipana before the centre was completely destroyed. Release International reported that a note was left outside the building, threatening further violence. Both churches in Hikkaduwa suffered extensive damage, with windows and furniture smashed and Bibles burned.

Pop star Katy Perry’s performance of “Dark Horse” during the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday evening has shocked some fans as it displayed dark satanic imagery, including witchcraft and demons.

Perry was dressed as a witch and wore a Knights of Templar cross across her chest during the performance. She also pole-danced on a broom, and was finally burned at the stake towards the end of her controversial ensemble on the awards show, which is watched by families across the world.

The singer’s dark performance shocked many, even prompting E! News to tweet: “Um, did we just witness actual witchcraft during Katy Perry’s #Grammys performance?”

Obama’s Brother Wears Terrorist Scarf Calling for the Destruction of Israel

Obama’s Brother Wears Terrorist Scarf Calling for the Destruction of IsraelJanuary 28, 2014 – Frontpage Mag by Daniel Greenfield

Malik Obama was photographed at an event in Yemen wearing a scarf which  on one side carries the message; “Jerusalem is ours – WE ARE COMING!”

This message is framed by a map of Israel that says, ‘From the River to the Sea!’ staking a claim on all of Israel.

The other side of the scarf features a picture of the Dome of the Rock and the message  “Al Aqsa is ours and is not their temple” denying the Jewish right to the holiest site in Judaism.

As Walid Shoebat documents, this scarf is often associated with Hamas.

Malik Obama’s boss (Malik works for him officially in his capacity as IDO Executive Secretary), Suar al-Dahab during a visit to Gaza last year at a Hamas event with the group’s Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Notice he’s wearing a similar keffiyeh at a conference entitled, ‘Aiding Jerusalem and Gaza”.

Street preacher arrested in Scotland for condemning homosexuality

Tony MianoDUNDEE, Scotland, January 29, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Tony Miano, an American evangelical street preacher and former policeman, must be getting used to being arrested for his beliefs in Britain. Miano was arrested January 8th, in Dundee, Scotland, and remanded in custody to appear before Dundee Sheriff Court the next day. Charged with a public order offence and held for nearly 30 hours, Miano was allowed to return to the US on the condition that he returns to the court in April.

A spokesman for the legal advocacy group Christian Concern told LifeSiteNews.com that the situation of street preachers being arrested is getting out of hand, with police making what are, essentially, arbitrary arrests.

Garry Selfridge, spokesman for Christian Concern said that the Dundee court “is being a little pathetic and backward” in allowing the proceedings to move forward.

“There is an overall blanket of political correctness that cloaks the whole establishment in the UK, so the police are not well advised or well trained to deal with such situations,” he said.

Saving Islam from Its Victims

shariaJanuary 22, 2014 – Frontpage Mag by Bruce Bawer

Lila Abu-Lughod received her Ph.D. from Harvard, has taught at Williams, Princeton, and NYU, and now boasts the title of Joseph L. Buttenwieser Professor of Social Science at Columbia University, where she teaches anthropology and Women’s Studies and is considered an expert on the Arab world. Born and raised in the United States, she’s the daughter of Ibrahim Abu-Lughod, whose buddy Edward Said once described him as “Palestine’s foremost academic and intellectual.”She’s also the author of a book, Do Muslim Women Need Saving?, which was published last year by Harvard University Press, and which I first became aware of via an excerpt in the Daily Beast and a piece by Abu-Lughod, also entitled “Do Muslim Women Need Saving?”, that appeared in Time Magazine.

The thrust of both these articles is that we in the West who think Muslim women are oppressed have been misinformed. Yes, Abu-Lughod acknowledges, Islamic culture has its demerits – but hey, so does every culture. Also, she argues, women in the Islamic world are a varied crew, ranging from prime ministers to peasants, so there are plenty who don’t fit the West’s stereotypes.

What to say about these rhetorical ploys except that they could be used to challenge any criticism of just about anything or anyone? (You could defend Nazi Germany against charges of anti-Semitism in precisely the same way that Abu-Lughod defends Islam against charges of oppressing women: “Admittedly, Hitler was horrible, but which national leader has ever been beyond criticism? True, some Jews suffered under Hitler, but anti-Semitism has been a very serious problem in many societies.”)

Charisma News Witchcraft Influences Plans, Policies of Indonesia President

Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono1/22/2014 Vishal Arora/RNS – Charisma News

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono may be the first Indonesian president to acknowledge publicly he believes in witchcraft. In a recently published memoir, he describes a “horror movie”-style encounter with black magic at his residence.

“Suddenly, my wife screamed,” writes Yudhoyono in the 900-page book, Selalu Ada Pilihan (There Is Always a Choice). “There was this thick dark cloud hovering beneath the ceiling, trying to enter my bedroom. I then asked everybody to pray to seek Allah’s help. I closed the door to my room but left others wide open. The revolving clouds eventually headed out of my house.”

Witchcraft is prohibited in Islam. However, the practice is widespread in Indonesia, which has the world’s largest Muslim population. A 2012 survey by the Pew Forum showed that 69 percent of Indonesian Muslims believe witchcraft is real.

Does Fatherlessness Produce Faithless Atheists?

A Catholic psychologist says absentee fathers can damage ability to form a relationship with a heavenly father. (Sara K Flickr Creative Commons) 1/14/2014 Kimberly Winston/RNS

A once-popular book that links atheism with shoddy fathering is getting a second life with a new publisher, thanks, in part, to the rise of nonbelief in the United States.

Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism by Catholic psychologist Paul C.Vitz posits that “intense atheists” throughout history—Nietzsche, Voltaire and Madalyn Murray O’Hair—had absent or rotten fathers. This, he argues, damaged their ability to form a relationship with a heavenly father.

Vitz also holds that many notable believers—Renaissance man Blaise Pascal, anti-slavery activist William Wilberforce and Nazi martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer, among others—had great relationships with their dads, and were therefore more able to build relationships with God.

“We need to understand atheism has a lot to do with our emotional attitudes towards life, other people and a lot of other things,” Vitz said from his office at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, a Catholic graduate school in Arlington, Va. “I think that is an important thing for atheists and believers alike to take into consideration.”
