Christians not deterred by planned atheist protest at major prayer rally on Australia Day for rain and protection from bushfires

Media release – For immediate release

On Australia Day January 26 at 10.30am, an expected crowd of 1000 Christians from different churches, denominations, ethnicities, and states will gather at Springvale Town Hall, 397 Springvale Rd Springvale in Melbourne to pray for God’s protection over Australia during this bushfire season.

Catch the Fire Ministries President, Pastor Daniel Nalliah who will also be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida USA for his work to secure freedom of speech in Australia and his ongoing stand for Christian values, said he had been alerted to the atheists protests by the venue planners, but would not allow the atheists to hijack the prayers or detract from the purpose of praying for Australia.

The special guest speaker Reverend Dr Zamekio Jackson who oversees the U.S. Christian College, as well as more than 300 churches across the U.S., and who has personally witnessed many supernatural miracles following prayer, will be travelling with his prayer team from America to deliver a special message to Australians.

“We’re expecting extraordinary things in the Spirit of God to happen on Australia Day. The City of Greater Dandenong Council who operates the Springvale Town Hall have informed us that atheists have been in contact with them to notify them of proposed protests, but also to let us know that they will call the police if the protests get out of hand. We Christians will not be distracted by the atheists. We’re there to pray for the nation of Australia and if the atheists’ intention is to hijack the event, it’s not going to happen. We love the atheists because Jesus, who is our prime example, loves the atheists. They and anyone for that matter is most welcome to enter the town hall and hear about God’s supernatural miracles around the world in answer to the prayers of His people,” Pastor Nalliah said.

Religious leaders vow civil disobedience on anti-life issues

Saturday, November 21, 2009 – Washington Times – Julia Duin

More than 150 leaders across a spectrum of conservative Christianity on Friday released a 4,700-word document vowing civil disobedience if they are forced to take part in “anti-life acts” or bless gay marriages.

Called the “Manhattan Declaration,” the six-page, single-spaced document was drafted by Prison Fellowship founder Charles Colson, an evangelical, and Princeton University professor Robert P. George, a Roman Catholic, and included a bevy of Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox bishops, archbishops and cardinals as signatories along with dozens of clergy and laity.

Archbishop of Washington Donald W. Wuerl is one of the signatories.

“Throughout the centuries, Christianity has taught that civil disobedience is not only permitted, but sometimes required,” says the document which cited civil rights icon Martin Luther King and his willingness to go to jail for his beliefs. (more…)

Obama’s ‘most important message’?

Chuck NorrisChuck Norris WorldNetDaily Exclusive – December 28, 2009

In my last column, “Away with the manger,” I predicted that the religious content of President Obama’s Christmas address to the nation was going to be the weakest in presidential history.

I also mentioned that, in the first year of his presidency, “Every time President Obama has had an opportunity to stand for Christianity in any way, he has not only denied it but disdained it.” Any chance he has to dive deeper into its creed, he rises to the surface and changes the subject.

I was correct on both accounts, and he proved it (again) last week.

But never did I expect to hear Obama during Christmas week dodge children on the main message of Christmas and then teach them a revised version.

Questions for Every Muslim

Dear family and friends in Christ,

Political correctness is the work of the devil and will lead to the downfall of western nations unless we Christians stand up and be counted. Our brothers and sisters are being persecuted, terrorised, raped, tortured, murdered under the banner of Islam!

We need to ask the questions in the following email from Bill Warner of every Muslim we know and or meet. We need to stand firm on the Word of God and share the love of Jesus with them! Even their own book the Koran speaks a lot about Jesus, that He performed miracles, healed sick people and raised the dead back to life! However, the Koran never states that Mohammed did anything even similar to the miraculous works of Jesus!

Action is needed, particularly in effective fervent prayer.

Can Vladimir Putin handle the truth? The real Bible truth?

2009 WorldNetDaily – November 15, 2009

The Russian prime minister will soon get that chance as “Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You’ve Never Been Told,” the Amazon.com No. 1 best-seller that champions the absolute truth of Scripture, continues to sweep across the globe, now being translated from English into Russian.

Thomas Nelson, the top Christian publishing company in America, has announced a licensing agreement with Nova Littera / Eksmo Publishing to produce a Russian-language version of “Shocked by the Bible” by Joe Kovacs, the executive news editor of WND.

“This is fantastic,” said Kovacs. “It wasn’t that long ago that the official position of the Moscow government was that God did not exist. Now, all those who speak Russian will have the opportunity to learn Bible truth like they’ve never heard it before, including the incredible destiny of all mankind to be born into the actual Family of God!”

EVANGELISM TO BE MADE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE IN RUSSIA

Source: Intercessors Network

Legislation introduced this month threatens to make evangelism nearly impossible in Russia. “Only religious groups registered for at least 15 years will be allowed to engage in evangelistic or missionary activity,” says Bob Provost of Slavic Gospel Association. “If an overseas church were to send a youth group over to help with a summer camp (which happens a lot), or if they were to send over a music group to help with evangelistic activity, it would not be allowed. The legislation also outlaws local churches from missionary activity within hospitals, orphanages, or homes for the aged.

Brazil’s March for Jesus Draws 1.5 Million Evangelicals

March 4 Jesus BrazilBy Ethan Cole|Christian Post Reporter Tue, Nov. 03 2009

The annual “March for Jesus” event in Brazil drew more than 1.5 million evangelical Christians Monday.

In its 17th year, the event brings together hundreds of evangelical churches in a country that is home to the world’s largest Roman Catholic population. Seventy-four percent of the country describes themselves as Roman Catholic.

The march is held each year on the same day the Catholic Church celebrates the Corpus Christi holiday, which is not observed by evangelical Protestants but is a national holiday in Brazil.

Participants marched 2.5 miles in San Paulo and heard music from Christian bands and messages from preachers and local celebrities, according to The Associated Press.

The event was sponsored by Reborn in Christ Church, whose leaders had recently returned after serving a combined year’s worth of U.S. legal punishment for attempted money smuggling. The punishment included a prison sentence, house arrest, and probation. Estevam Hernandes Filho and his wife, Sonia Haddad Moraes Hernandes, had failed to declare $56,000 in cash that they had carried on a flight from San Paulo to Miami. The money was hidden among a child’s backpack, a Bible case and other bags.

Update on ‘climate change’ legislation – ACT NOW!

E-News from Salt Shakers

Following our recent email on the current ‘climate change’ situation, the Rudd government’s emissions trading legislation has been passed by the federal parliament’s House of Representatives.

(Media report: Emissions Bills pass House)

The Bill(s) now go to the Senate, where the numbers will be very tight.

A vote is expected next week. At least ten Coalition Senators are actively opposed to the emissions trading scheme and want the Coalition to oppose it – whilst the Leader of the Opposition Malcolm Turnbull is still negotiating with the government for some ‘changes’.

Praise God for Free Speech Victory

by Andrea Minichiello Williams of Christian Concern for our Nation in the UK

Dear Friends and Supporters

We are writing with wonderful news of deliverance from the pernicious attempt by the Government last night (11th November) to remove Lord Waddington’s free speech shield from the face of the laws of this land.

In a remarkable debate the House of Lords stood firm against the Government’s fourth attempt to impose its will upon them. Thanks to their steadfastness the vital democratic right to free speech was upheld, the police will have clarity about cases they do not need to investigate and ordinary, peaceful Christians and others who wish to be free to express orthodox Christian views on sexual ethics will not have their freedom so to do unreasonably interfered with.

Muslim ‘apostates’ in U.S. ask for protection (Group says Shariah law poses threat)

Washington Times  | 9/24/2009 | Julia Duin

Five ex-Muslims who founded a group called Former Muslims United put out a public appeal Thursday to the U.S. government for protection, saying the lives of thousands of “apostates from Islam” are in peril.

Speaking at Capitol Hill press conference, the Granada Hills, Calif., group cited the case of Fathima Rifqa Bary, a 17-year-old from Ohio who converted to Christianity four years ago. She fled to Florida this past summer in fears that her parents would murder her for “honor” reasons. Her father, the girl said in court filing, had already threatened to kill her.

Fathima first stayed with a pastor and his wife, then ended up in protective custody with Florida’s Department of Children and Families.

‘Prime Minister Kevin Rudd about to betray Australia’ / by Pastor Daniel

Prime Minister Kevin RuddDear friends and family in Christ,

Is Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and the Labor government, who have betrayed the Christian voters after winning the last federal election, now about to betray the nation of Australia once again? In his recent 2GB Radio interview with Lord Mockton, Alan Jones from Sydney stated in his closing comments, “Is the Prime Minister about to betray us all?”

In December at the Global Warming Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, PM Kevin Rudd will relinquish Australia’s democratic rights to make decisions as a sovereign nation, by signing a treaty to a ONE WORLD GOVERMENT led by the United Nations.

Janet Albrechtsen’s article on climate change in the 28 October edition of the Australian refers to the United Nation’s ‘Copenhagen Plot’. The article deals with a draft of the climate change treaty, which she says is ‘aimed at creating a world government that would tax rich countries and give to poor ones’. As members know, the United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place at the Bella Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark from 7 to 18 December 2009. The conference includes the fifteenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

We at Catch the Fire Ministries fought a 5 year battle for freedom of Speech and freedom of Religion in the state of Victoria due to a bad piece of legislation which became law in 2002 under the Labor administration. Thank God we won this battle which helped us regain our freedom of speech. Is our entire nation of Australia about to lose it forever?
