JIHAD AGAINST CHRISTIANS IN AFRICA

Dr. Peter Hammond – 22nd Feb 2013

Pastor Beheaded in Tanzania

Pastor Mathayo Kachili of the Tanzania Assemblies of God in Buseresere was beheaded by a Muslim mob. The Geita Regional Police Commander’s office issued a statement that the murder occurred during a confrontation when Muslims demanded the immediate closure of butcheries owned by Christians. Muslim youth armed with clubs and machetes attacked Christians, injuring several people, some of whom are in a critical condition.

Meat Monopoly Move by Muslim Minority

Pastor Kachili was murdered on Monday, 11 February, when a Muslim mob attacked the Assemblies of God Church in Buseresere. This was part of a nation wide campaign to force all meat industries in Tanzania to be run in accordance with Shari’a law and controlled by the Muslim minority.

Christian Response

ASSIST News Service quoted the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Tanzania, Barnabas Mtokambali: “Our response as a Church is not one of violence and hatred, reflecting the attitude of those committing such crimes, but that of Christ and reflecting His image, by loving and praying for those who humiliate and persecute us, and not holding such sins against them.”

Singapore Megachurch Pastor Warns Repealing Homosexuality Laws Threatens Families

By Stoyan Zaimov , Christian Post Reporter –  Jan 18, 2013

Lawrence Khong, senior pastor at Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC), a notable megachurch in Singapore, has warned the nation’s former prime minister that repealing the country’s homosexual sex laws might be a “looming threat” for families.

“Examples from around the world have shown that the repeal of similar laws have led to negative social changes, especially the breakdown of the family as a basic building block and foundation of the society,” Khong expressed in a statement addressing former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, but did not name which countries in particular he had in mind

Singapore has strict laws against homosexuality that have stood in place since colonial times. They are currently being challenged by gay rights activists who insist that they should be repealed.

Khong, 51, leads one of Singapore’s biggest megachurches with 9,000 congregants, which he founded in 1986. Besides being a popular preacher, Knong is also an entertainer, movie producer and magician — he has led stage shows called the “Magic of Love” and “Magic Box” intended to share Christ with others.

Obama Calls for Gays to Be ‘Like Anyone Else Under the Law’

By Paul Stanley , Christian Post Reporter – January 21, 2013

In his second inaugural speech, President Obama called for the extension of laws that would give gays more protections and benefits under federal law.

“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well,” said Obama.

The president’s comments were made while outlining what seemed to be protections for minorities and undocumented immigrants. The speech, which also falls on the federal holiday that celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., appeared to take on similarities to the former civil rights leader’s infamous “I Have a Dream” speech.

“We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall; just as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to hear a preacher say that we cannot walk alone; to hear a King proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the freedom of every soul on Earth.”

A Congressman’s Crusade for Human and Religious Rights

Front Page Magazine – January 15, 2013 By Faith J. H. McDonnell

Evoking the moral apathy and failure of the past, U.S. Representative Frank R. Wolf (R-VA) recently asked church leaders around the United States to use their influence for those who are persecuted. In his January 9, 2013 letter to over 300 Catholic and Protestant leaders, Wolf reminded them of the words of German Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, executed by the Nazis during World War II. Bonhoeffer, when “faced with the tyranny and horror of Nazism, famously said, ‘Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.  Not to speak is to speak.  Not to act is to act,’” recalled Wolf.

“And that is precisely what many in the church did, or failed to do, as Hitler unleashed his murderous plans,” Wolf continued. Writing with passion and urgency to such representative Christian leaders as the U.S. Catholic bishops, the leaders of Protestant denominations, and the pastors of some of America’s largest “mega-churches,” the congressman then told the story of a German Christian shared in the book When a Nation Forgets God:

I lived in Germany during the Nazi Holocaust.  I considered myself a Christian.  We heard stories of what was happening to the Jews, but we tried to distance ourselves from it, because, what could anyone do to stop it?

A railroad track ran behind our small church and each Sunday morning we could hear the whistle in the distance and then the wheels coming over the tracks.  We became disturbed when we heard the cries coming from the train as it passed by.  We realized that it was carrying Jews like cattle in the cars!

300+ Christians from 50 different churches unite at National Australia Day Prayer Gathering / Direct link to Channel Ten broadcast with Pr Daniel

Dear family & friends in Christ,

1) We thank and praise our King of kings and LORD of lords for a wonderful 3 hours of Holy Spirit empowered Prayer, Praise, Worship and Intercession on Australia Day, on behalf of our nation where 300+ Christians from 50 different churches from many denominations united in Melbourne to seek our Heavenly Father for Australia’s revival, reformation and transformation in the Kingdom of God!

Pr Daniel was the MC of the meeting, joined by many Ministers of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, from Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, Uniting, Salvation Army, Christian Revival Crusade, other Pentecostal and Charismatic churches, who led segments in prayer.

The worship was led by the Indonesian church youth band, as hundreds of passionate patriotic Australian Christians, from many different countries who call Australia home, waved their Australian flags, joining in one accord to lift up the name of Jesus over Australia!

As the Church united in the Spirit of worship, the Christian ministers on stage prayed for our Government, Protection over Australia, Unity & Revival in the Body of Christ, Schools, Youth (who came to the altar for special prayer), Families, Businesses, Armed Forces, Emergency Services, Farmers, Bush Fires, Floods, etc.

Pr Wally from the US, originally from the Philippines, who was very badly tortured and sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia for preaching Jesus, shared his powerful testimony of how God miraculously saved him at the final of scheduled execution.

Many were in tears on hearing his extraordinary testimony and mightily challenged to Rise Up Australia for Jesus. He also encouraged the body of Christ to pray for the persecuted Church and to love the Muslim people, who are victims of the deception of the spirit of Islam.

It was very positive for the Kingdom of God, as almost everything we hoped to achieve through this broadcast was.

We wanted our nation to know the dangers of Islam (rejecting the teaching of Quran, but loving the Muslims), that the Church of Jesus Christ is not asleep but awake, that followers of Christ are bold to stand up and declare the truth of God’s Word, that we love our nation Australia and to promote Rise Up Australia Party.

Pr Daniel stated, “This is possibly one of the best interviews I have been a part of for a while. I am very happy with the outcome. I thank God for the many Christians who rejoiced seeing this program.  However, to hear the responses from atheists and others wanting to know about Rise Up Australia Party. In addition to congratulating us for standing up for our nation is very encouraging.

Census in Nepal Reportedly Labels 2.3 Million Christians as Hindus

December 29, 2012 – By Jeremy Reynalds – Senior Correspondent for ASSIST News Service

NEPAL (ANS) — Christian leaders of Nepal complain that their numerical strength has been highly underestimated in the nation’s first census after it became a democracy.

“We can produce concrete proof of our numbers, as we have registered all our members at over 8,500 churches. We are above 2.5 million but the census of 2011 shows us to be just 300,000,” C.B. Gahatraj, general secretary of the Federation of National Christians of Nepal (FNCN), said at a press conference in Kathmandu this month.According to a report by the World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA-RLC), the alleged manipulation in the census data while the nation is transitioning from a Hindu monarchy to a secular republic is concerning.

WEA-RLC said the number of Christians has increased from about 0.4 percent in 2007, when the country was officially declared as a secular state after over two centuries of Hindu monarchy, to 1.4 percent of the 26.4 million people as stated by the Census 2011 report by the Central Bureau of Statistics.

However, the latest figures are a result of apparent manipulation, said Dr. K.B. Rokaya, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Nepal, with whom WEA-RLC spoke in Kathmandu.

WEA-RLC reported that Rokaya, who is also a member of the government’s National Human Rights Commission, said he suspects “double manipulation.”

Christians Respond to Giglio’s Withdrawal: New Era of Religious Intolerance in America?

Christian Post America – Jan 11, 2013

Pastor Louie Giglio’s withdrawal from President Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony has left Christians lamenting over what they see as a new era of religious intolerance.

More specifically, anyone who holds the view that homosexuality is a sin is being forced out of the public square.

Russell Moore, a Southern Baptist theologian, put it this way: “When it is now impossible for one who holds to the catholic Christian view of marriage and the gospel to pray at a public event, we now have a de facto established state church.

“Just as the pre-constitutional Anglican and congregational churches required a license to preach in order to exclude Baptists, the new state church requires a ‘license’ of embracing sexual liberation in all its forms.”

Giglio, founder of the Passion conferences and Passion City Church in Roswell, Ga., had been invited to deliver the benediction during Obama’s inauguration ceremony on Jan. 21. He accepted the invitation and told The Christian Post earlier this week that he was honored to lead the nation in prayer.

But the pastor began to face criticism when the liberal blog Think Progress pointed to an “anti-gay” sermon Giglio delivered almost 20 years ago. In that sermon, Giglio affirms homosexuality as a sin, says Christians must respond to the “aggressive” homosexual agenda, and stresses that all are sinners and in need of the healing power of Jesus.

Hamas and Israel: Who Respects Palestinian Lives More?

By Paul de Vries , Special to CP – November 27, 2012

As the Bible teaches us, we should love all our “neighbors,” including all people, everywhere, with special attention in thought and action to show love to the “neighbor” in need. In the present Gaza conflict, we should love all the Palestinian people and all the people of Israel at the same time. Tragically, the hate-filled policies of Hamas, the group that rules Gaza, are very destructive both to the people of Gaza (by using its own women and children as shields) and to the people of Israel (by viciously targeting its civilian population centers). In spite of some of the general media’s efforts to gauze-over the Gaza realities, in this on-going mortal conflict there is no moral equivalence between the two side’s policies. Nevertheless, at time of the writing of this essay there is peace, and we are grateful.

Along with love and peace, patience and endurance are taught in the Bible, too – as well as “turning the other cheek” when attacked on “one cheek.” With remarkable public consistency, the present nation of Israel has for seven years endured an incessant storm of over 11,000 missiles and mortars raining on its people from the terrorist residents of Gaza. As a nation desiring to live at peace with all people, it has mostly restrained itself – and rarely responded with violence to years of deadly violence against it. Now as the vicious, violent attacks upon all the Israeli people have been dramatically increased – with a missile launched against Israel averaging every 6 minutes for seven days, starting November 14, 2012 – Israel has had to respond strongly.

As President Obama observes, absolutely no one can blame Israel for defending itself. The absurd verbal attacks against Israel by the media and by many American Muslim leaders defy credibility, defy basic humanity. All people should now stand strongly with Israel and for its right of self-defense – and to defend all its diverse citizens – including Muslim, Druze, Christian, Jewish and all others.

Christianophobia – A Faith Under Attack

Colorado Springs, December 21 2012 (World Watch Monitor) — By Steve Rabey

Jesus warned his followers that they would experience persecution, a prediction that was already coming true before the books of the New Testament were completed. Today, Shortt argues, “the greatest curbs on religious freedoms take place in Muslim majority countries.”

Take Egypt, where Christianity grew deep roots in the centuries before Mohammed. Today, there are more than 10 million Christians among a population of more than 80 million. But Christians have faced increasing pressures in recent decades, and the overthrow of a dictator and a historic election that promoted the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi have complicated matters even more.

The book documents how attacks and bombings of churches have increased since the election; forced emigration is shrinking the Christian population; Coptic Christians (the largest group of Egyptian Christians) face systematic obstacles to promotion in the army, police and legal professions; Coptic women have been abducted and forced to convert to Islam; and Muslims who convert to Christianity may be shunned, harassed, physically harmed and even killed.
