60,000 pray in Times Square But Media Fail To Notice This Most Unusual Event

United Christian Prayer in Times Square ManhattanPosted on 2009 WorldNetDaily: September 21, 2009 9:37 pm Eastern

NEW YORK – You can see most anything at Times Square in Manhattan.  But 60,000 people praying? That’s an unusual site in the heart of Broadway.

Yet, that’s just what happened there yesterday for one hour – from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in a Christian rally called Prayer in the Square.

Event organizers from Time Square Church had expected some 15,000. But their expectations were far exceeded at the third event of its kind in the last three years.

Turnout At Muslim Rally Lower Than Expected

White House in Washington D.C.Tuesday, 29 September 2009 01:54 PM EDT Adrienne S. Gaines

A Muslim prayer rally on Capitol Hill Friday drew between 3,000 and 5,000 participants, a figure well below the 50,000 organizers hoped to attract.

Among those gathered were several dozen protestors. Some stood at the rear of the crowd holding Bibles and praying. Others yelled “repent” from across the street, where they gathered with banners and crosses, the Washington Post reported.

Ministering to youth on the streets

Friday, 28 August 2009 Ed Donnally News – Featured News

It’s 11:30 p.m. and a Hope for Homeless Youth (HHY) ministry team gathers on Hollywood’s teeming Walk of Fame for its regular Friday outreach. They’ll pass out food and ministry information, witness to hundreds, and invite each young person to return and enter their one-year discipleship program. As usual, Director Clayton Golliher will sleep in a nearby parking lot, his sleeping bag a few feet from several dozen homeless youth.

“They’re a product of the breakup of the American family,” he says. “More of them are throwaway than runaway. Some love the freedom, but most have been abused and rejected.”

Experts estimate 1.5 million youth live on our nation’s streets; each year 5,000 will die of suicide, homicide and accidental drug overdose, and at least 40 percent are not wanted at home. One in four will visit Hollywood.

What I Learned From The Fathers

Spiritual Fathers in the Lord Jesus ChristArticle by Dave Buehring appeared in Charisma Magazine

Our spiritual fathers have much to offer us from their years of walking with God. Here’s what I learned recently from Jack Hayford, John Perkins, Lloyd Ogilvie, Loren Cunningham, Henry Blackaby and Winkie Pratney.

In the days of the early church, the apostle Paul stressed the importance to believers of having a leader, or “father,” they could learn from. He wrote to the Corinthians: “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.” (1 Cor. 4:15-16, NKJV).

It is no different today. Those who are young in the faith need leaders to imitate, and those who are more mature must seek to live worthy of imitation, to be leaders who understand the responsibility and foundation of healthy church leadership. (more…)

Obama’s Stark Declaration On Israel Draws UN Applause

President Barack Obama addresses the United Nations Climate Change Summit, Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at the United Nations US Does Not Recognize ‘Legitimacy of Continued Israeli Settlements’

Wednesday September 23, 2009
FOXNews.com

In declaring that it is time for Middle East peace “without preconditions,” President Obama used his speech to the U.N. General Assembly earlier today to fire a warning at Israel that “America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements,” Fox News reports from New York.

Obama’s stark declaration, which drew applause, was coupled with a call for Palestinians to end their “incitement of Israel.”

But it was the use of the U.N. forum to carry the settlement message to Israel that drew the most enthusiastic response on the floor — and incredulous reaction outside its walls.

Lou Engle: Urgent Call To Prayer: Signs Of The Times

Lou Engle and Christians Praying for a Jesus RevolutionConvergence

It is critical that the Church in America understands the times and what needs to be done now. The natural things speak of the invisible. Natural happenings on the earth are revealing something that is going on in the spiritual realm. There is a great spiritual conflict with a rising tide of Islamic boldness being manifested. Several happenings are converging this week.

First of all, our President has recently proclaimed, honored, encouraged the Muslim holy days of prayer and fasting called Ramadan. He was very silent on the National Day of Prayer, but very vocal on the support of Ramadan. Interestingly, at the same time, a major Christian leader of the Emergent Church called for forty days of fasting and prayer in the same Ramadan period with the goal that the Church will better understand our Muslim friends. We are all for understanding, but we must have spiritual discernment as to the spiritual dark powers that are being invoked into our nation.

Cause for Concern

At the same time, on the 25th of September, Muslims are calling for a Muslim Day of Prayer in Washington DC: (http://www.islamoncapitolhill.com/). They are calling for 50,000 Muslims to gather and pray on the DC Mall. This is the exact word of one of the Sheikhs who is leading this historic gathering: “Muslims should march on the White House. We are going to the White House so that Islam will be victorious, Allah willing, and the White House will become into a Muslim house.” These are not empty words. They speak of a dark spiritual intent and a coming day of great trouble to America.

USA: Calling 50,000 Muslims To Prayer On Capitol Hill

Spread of IslamBy William Wan – Washington Post, Sept 2009

It began as the idea of one man in a New Jersey mosque after hearing President Obama speak about the need to reach out to Muslims in America. Now that man, Hassen Abdellah, is trying to mobilize 50,000 fellow Muslims from across the country to gather in front of Capitol Hill at the end of this month and pray for the country.

Abdellah says he’s already obtained a permit from police to gather on Capitol Hill on Sept. 25. And he’s heard from thousands willing to make the trek. “Fundraising is going slow,” he admitted, “but the bottom line is all we’re doing is praying, you don’t need that much money to pray.”

The gathering is not supposed to be political, Abdellah said in an interview. No placards or signs allowed. No major famous imams or popular celebrities scheduled so far. No real agenda other than to pray together.
“We want this to be purely about Islam,” he said. “We want to change the perception of Islam to show we are not terrorists, but that most of us Muslims here love America and abide by its laws.”

Mr. Obama, What About The Christians Of The Middle East?

Paul BatouAINA (Assyrian International News Agency)  | August 8, 2009 | Paul Batou

AINA) — The oppression of the Iraqi Christians started when Arabs occupied the land in the seventh century. Their method of wiping out Christianity from the region involved the implementation of a simple rule: either convert and follow the Islamic banner or pay heavy taxes (which many Christians could not afford) or face war.

Looking at more modern history, the first genocide of the 20th century began on April 24, 1915. By 1918, 2.65 million Christians including 750,000 Assyrians, 1.5 million Armenians, and 400,000 Greeks were killed by the Ottoman Empire and the Kurds. The Assyrians called this genocide “seyfo” which means sword. In 1933, the massacre of Simmele, in Northern Iraq, resulted in the death of 3000 Christians at the hands of the Iraqi Army. This was the first atrocity committed by the new Iraqi state under after gaining independence from the British in 1932. My village Tin, in Northern Iraq, shared a similar fate in 1961.

The American occupation in Iraq did not end the struggles of the native Christians. Under the watch of our Democratic government and the newly established Iraqi government, Christians continue to face persecution. Here is a list of some of the acts of violence committed as reported by the Assyrian International News Agency:

Christians Rally To Defend Prayers In Jesus’ Name

Former Military ChaplainCharisma News Online – Wednesday, 05 August 2009 – Adrienne S. Gaines News – Featured News

A former military chaplain who battled the U.S. Navy over the right to pray in Jesus’ name is waging a similar fight in Lodi, Calif., where the City Council in May temporarily banned sectarian prayers before meetings.

Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt expects several hundred people-some from out of state-to join him tonight at 6 p.m. for a “Stand Up for Jesus” prayer rally protesting a city policy requiring all prayers to be “non-sectarian and non-denominational.”

“Jesus is not an illegal word, the Bible is not a banned book, and evangelistic speech is not a crime,” Klingenschmitt wrote in an online petition that collected more than 5,000 signatures, half of them from Californians. The charismatic chaplain plans to present the petition at tonight’s rally.

When The Godly Govern

By Dave Welch
Posted on World Net Daily on August 18, 2009

I believe it necessary to pick up from last week’s column “Who’s your king?” with the recognition that while using the choice of Saul as Israel’s first king as an illustration, it appeared I was making the case that he was solely the people’s choice, not God’s. Several e-mails from studious readers properly took me to task, so let me assert that Scripture is clear. God guided Samuel, and in His sovereign plan directed him to anoint Saul (1 Samuel 9).

What cannot be overlooked is that the entire process was a result of the people rejecting the authority of God over the nation and God granting them their first wish.

Christians Ramp Up Opposition To Health Care Bill

Christian LeadersTuesday, 28 July 2009 – Adrienne S. Gaines

Conservative Christian leaders are ramping up their opposition to a health care reform bill that they say opens the door to government-funded abortion.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins hosted a press conference today on Capitol Hill calling on Congress to oppose the reform measure that he said amounts to a government takeover of health care.

“President Obama and his liberal allies in Congress have ignored the moral, ethical and financial dangers of this plan,” Perkins said. “The takeover will suffocate small business owners with incalculable new taxes. And it would mandate taxpayer-funded abortion, abortifacient drugs and limit end-of-life care. … From the inevitability of rationed care to diminishing human dignity, the president’s plan amounts to a prescription for a health care disaster.”

Perkins was joined by Bishop Harry Jackson, leader of the High Impact Leadership Coalition; Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America; Doug Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC); and Kristen Day, executive director of Democrats for Life of America. National Health Scare

By Rick Joyner

When I read the brief on what was contained in the National Health Care bill that is now being presented before Congress, I could not believe I was reading something that was actually being considered in the United States of America. This is not about money or government mismanagement—this is about something far more diabolical than that. As incomprehensible as it may seem, this is about euthanasia, the power to determine who lives or dies in America. Hitler and Stalin would have loved to have had a means such as this for dispatching the millions they killed—it would have made their job much easier, and probably given them the ability to kill many more than they did. THIS BILL IS THAT SINISTER. This is not a joke—this is actually the nature of what is being proposed in the National Health Care legislation, and it is the obvious reason why the Obama Administration wants to ram it through Congress before anyone gets a chance to read it.

I have resolved to always be as generous as I can toward people with opposing views of my own. I do this because I believe it is the mandate of I Corinthians 13 to always believe the best about people, rather than the worst. I know this opens me up to be misled by some, but I consider that a small price to pay to not become cynical. I also do it because I think it is wise to always try and understand the position of my opponents—to be open to consider their positions and not be too rigid or inflexible to change because we all “see in part,” and “know in part.” (more…)

Christians Gather In Washington To Show Support For Israel

Christians Gathering In Support Of IsraelValerie G. Lowe News – Featured News

Some 4,000 Christians have gathered in the nation’s capital this week to learn about Israel and the Middle East, and to tell congressional leaders not to pressure Israel into giving up land to the Palestinians.

Pro-lsrael Christians have come from across the U.S. to participate in the fourth annual Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Washington Summit, which began Monday and runs through Wednesday. The event  will give participants an opportunity to demonstrate their support for the Holy Land by lobbying U.S. lawmakers to back the Jewish nation.

“America really shouldn’t be pressuring Israel to make concessions Israelis don’t want to make,” said CUFI executive director David Brog. “Israel has been devoted to the peace process.”

He said Israel has withdrawn “over and over again” and made “painful concessions for peace.”

“But it hasn’t brought peace,” he told Charisma. “It’s brought renewed aggression.”

He said CUFI wants the U.S. to “respect Israel’s allies … and its democracy.” (more…)
