1) Abortion Law Under Challenge In Victoria 2) Salt Shakers E-News: NSW – Greens MP Calls For Decriminalisation Of Abortion

Dear friends and family in Christ,

1) The following article recently appeared in the Age.  Please keep praying and acting for a divine reversal of the abortion laws in Victoria!

“Abortion law under challenge”

Jill Stark

THE federal Attorney-General is under increasing pressure from within his own party to use his powers to overturn Victoria’s new abortion laws, which leading lawyers and Catholic hospitals say are in breach of international law.

At issue is a clause in the new legislation that forces doctors who oppose abortion to declare their belief and refer patients seeking terminations to specialists who are willing to provide the procedure.

Queen’s Counsel Neil Young, a former Federal Court judge, and barrister Peter Willis, a former adviser to the attorney-general’s office, who examined the legislation on behalf of Catholic Health Australia, say that Australia will fail to meet its international obligations unless the clause is removed. Reborn Costello Strides Ahead Of Turnbull

The Australian

by  Dennis Shanahan, Political editor | March 10, 2009

Peter CostelloMalcolm TurnbullPETER Costello is the publicly preferred Liberal leader over Malcolm Turnbull as Kevin Rudd and the Labor Government continue to dominate the Coalition during the economic crisis.

The former treasurer, who is increasingly seen as an alternative Liberal leader, has a two-to-one advantage over Mr Turnbull as preferred prime minister, with strong support among men, Coalition voters, older Australians and the 35 to 49 year olds who are most likely to have mortgages and children. Even More Treachery

Dear friends

Prime Minister Kevin RuddObamaBoth Rudd and Obama won their elections in part by seeking to woo Christians. Yet both have consistently promoted anti-faith, anti-family and anti-life policies.

Today the Rudd government announced that it has reversed the ban on foreign aid funding for abortion services: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/03/10/killing-babies-to-improve-their-health/

Please write to Mr Rudd and express your concerns about this anti-life decision: http://www.pm.gov.au/contact/index.cfm

“God Uses Ordinary People!” Merrigum Harvest Weekend

Little Girl Accepts The Lord Into Her LifeThe CTFM Team at The FarmGod loves people, He uses ordinary people, He seeks humble, willing vessels simply available, and prepared to listen to His voice and obey. Who would have thought a small group of “seemingly” ordinary Christians in a sleepy country town called Merrigum (between Tatura and Kyabram, half hour from Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley) could have believed for Ps. Danny and the Catch The Fire Team (Dianne, Rosalie, Glen & Noreen) to join with them for a whole weekend and host a special worship weekend during the peak of the Goulburn Valley fruit-picking season? To be blessed in seeing God touch the hearts of so many young backpackers from the nations of the world as they stood to give thanks for our nation of Australia and their role in “the Harvest”.

Shalom Worship Centre, a non-denominational apostolic healing Church hosted a special prayer and worship weekend “Miracles in Merrigum” believing for God to bring hope and healing to our communities presently struggling with the many issues confronting both our farming communities, flood and fire victims, and those seriously affected by the global economic meltdown. Our nation needs prayer, our farmers need prayer, our leaders need prayer, …the Church needs to learn how to pray! Jesus is turning over the money tables in His Church, God is calling His House back to be what the Father had purposed – “that My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all Nations”! (Mathew 21:12-13, Isaiah 56:7, 11 Chronicles 6&7 –ordinances of prayer) (more…)

Salt Shakers E-News: Reflections On The ‘National Memorial Service’

Last week we mentioned the national memorial service for the bushfires – it was held on Sunday 22 February.

We noted that there had been one reference to it being ‘interfaith’ but that had been later reported as being ‘non-denominational’. . .

So what was the service really like?
The word we’d probably use to describe the service is ‘secular’.
It was hosted by ABC newsreader Ian Henderson and started with an Aboriginal ‘welcome to country’ by aboriginal elder Joy Murphy.
There were speeches by community representatives and members of the emergency services. The Governor General spoke with so many ‘platitudes’ it was hard to know what she really said, and Princess Anne gave a touching message from the Queen and herself.
There was talk of courage and resilience. There was no naming of the individuals who died – perhaps that was because the list is not final and the coroner’s reports have not been completed. (more…)

A God Of Justice or Love? What Does the Bible say?

Pastor Danny & Wife MaryseDear friends and family in Christ,

All glory to God as we continue to serve the Lord through His grace and strength standing strong for the truth of His Word in the mighty Name of Jesus!

There has been much speculation and discussion in the Church (Body of Christ) as to the timing of my article recently released through the media. Following is an excerpt from the dream which was published in the article. “In my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God. That His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.”

I was led by the Holy Spirit to write the article and when it was finished, I took it to the office, but knowing the furor that it may cause, took it home with me again.  On Day 2, I took it back to the office, but still could not release it.  On Day 3, the Lord asked me whether I was going to listen to Him or to man, (including other pastors, ministers, and Christian leaders). In the words of Paul the Apostle, sent not from man or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, writing to the Galatians (born-again Spirit-filled Christians), “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10) (more…)

Pastor Danny Ministering In Corryong

Believers Pray For Pr DannyThe following is a letter that was sent to Pr Danny, from Pr Douglas & Carol Allen, after he ministered in their church in Corryong:

“What an amazing weekend…. Pastor Danny and his team arrived here in the High Country of North East Victoria (Corryong) Saturday afternoon after a 5 and a half hour drive from Melbourne. Praise God for their faithfulness in coming to our small community to be a blessing.

Standing United At The AltarAs the people started to arrive Saturday evening God spoke into Pst Danny’s heart about a young man who needed a deep touch from God, including salvation. He Touched By The Holy Spiritcalled him out and spoke a word over him which was totally spot on for the crisis he is going through. Praise the Lord for a good work which has begun. Also that same night he spoke into the lives of couples who belong to the fellowship with regards to what God has in store for them and how God is going to use them in the days to come. We, being the Pastors, know just how our people needed to hear these words, which once again from our knowledge of these precious folk was so spot on! Thank you Pastor Danny and team (Barry & Susanna & Barry & Cheryl) for being so sensitive and passing onto to us what you heard from God.

The Word which was ministered on Sunday morning was awesome (1Kings 16 & 17 ) We believe great fruit will come about from this. The Presence of God was beautiful and tangible. (in all meetings!) (more…)

CTFM Report On Australia Day United Prayer At Melbourne Town Hall

Denominational Leaders United in Prayer on StageDear Family and Friends in Christ,

The Australia Day United Prayer gathering was once again a resounding success with 1,500 Christians from many denominations, churches, and ethnicities all joining hearts and hands to worship the King of kings and the Lord of lords in a significantly placed central venue in Melbourne! Many travelled from NSW, SA, ACT, TAS, WA, QLD and from all across VIC to participate in this significant prayer celebration for our nation as the Lord was highly exalted above all!

The Crowd At Australia Day 2009The Melbourne Town Hall main auditorium soon became a sea of people as they streamed in to get a seat to be a part of this history making day.  The City of Melbourne was abuzz with tens of thousands of Aussies in the streets celebrating Australia Day through parades, dances, music and various events right across the City.  Glory to God, amongst all that was happening outside as a backdrop, 1,500 worshippers joined in one accord to cry unto the Lord for our nation’s spiritual revival and transformation!

VIPs - Denominational RepresentativesPastor Danny personally was so extremely thrilled to be sharing the stage with so many from across the Body of Christ (around 15 denominational leaders and representatives) – many commenting, “The unity demonstrated by the leaders and worshippers was absolutely wonderful!” welcoming such opportunities to express a united physical front. We also advanced the spiritual Kingdom of God in such a positive way, destroying strongholds of the enemy and seeing the City of Melbourne given into the rightful hands of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ruler of this City and Nation! Australia Day – It’s Time To Return To The God Of Our ForeFathers

Source: Col and Jan Stringer

The media often portrays Australia as a nation devoid of Judeo-Christian values. Yet a quick survey of our past suggests the opposite – in fact the vast majority of our forefathers publicly acknowledged faith in their God and the Bible as the Word of God. Certainly some of their rhetoric may have been different – Captain James Cook talks of ‘Providence’ saving his life. Providence, in those days was acknowledged as the ‘hand of God’. Some of our heroes of faith include Charles Sturt, Matthew Flinders, Edward John Eyre, John McDouall Stuart, Ludwig Leichhardt, Governor Macquarie,  Caroline Chisholm, Prime Minister Alfred Deakin John “Flynn of the Inland’ – to mention but a few!
One of the ways the enemy uses to change the heritage and faith of our forefathers is to remove every trace of Christianity from public life and office. Recently we have seen moves to cease prayers at the Opening of Federal Parliament or days such as “Christmas” replaced by the term “Holiday Season”. Nativity scenes have been removed from schools and public areas. But I believe it’s time for us reclaim our nation and faith of our forefathers and to ‘seek first the Kingdom of God’ rather than that of man. (more…)
