Christians form human shield around church in ‘China’s Jerusalem’ after demolition threat

By Tom Phillips, Wenzhou – 04 Apr 2014

Thousands of Chinese Christians have mounted an extraordinary, round-the-clock defence of a church in a city known as the ‘Jerusalem of the East’ after Communist Party officials threatened to bulldoze their place of worship.

In an episode that underlines the fierce and long-standing friction between China’s officially atheist Communist Party and its rapidly growing Christian congregation, Bible-carrying believers this week flocked to the Sanjiang church in Wenzhou hoping to protect it from the bulldozers.

Their 24-hour guard began earlier this week when a demolition notice was plastered onto the newly-constructed church which worshippers say cost around 30 million yuan (£2.91 million) and almost six years to build.

Officials claimed the church had been built illegally and used red paint to daub the words: “Demolish” and “Illegal construction” onto its towering facade.

Hillsong Takes Over New York City’s Times Square With ‘Jesus,’ ‘No Other Name’ Campaign

By Nicola Menzie , Christian Post Reporter – May 7, 2014|Hillsong Takes Over New York City's Times Square With 'Jesus,' 'No Other Name' Campaign 2

Hillsong “takes over” Times Square’s digital billboards in New York City on Thursday, April 24, 2014, by promoting “Jesus” and “No Other Name,” the name of Hillsong Live’s upcoming album and the church’s 2014 conference theme.

Hillsong, a Pentecostal powerhouse with church campuses spanning the globe, recently descended on New York City’s Times Square to declare the name of Jesus before thousands of onlookers while also shooting cover art for a new album that shares its name with the megachurch’s 2014 conference theme.

Instead of flashing the usual ads, news reports or the day’s market results, 21 digital screens played for an hour a looped video comprised of just a few frames flashing repeatedly: “Jesus” and “No Other Name.”

Jay Argaet, Hillsong’s Art and Communications director, told The Christian Post that at least 400 people from Hillsong NYC church joined in the nighttime campaign at Times Square, one of the world’s most sought out tourist destinations.

Times Square, located between 7th Avenue and Broadway from 42nd and 47th Streets, is trafficked by an average of 360,000 pedestrians every day, many of them out-of-towners.

Why the Black Church Needs to Rise Up and Help Bring Revival to America

Florida Courier – March 27, 2014

While in seminary, I had the privilege of reading Dr. James Harris’ book, Pastoral Theology from the Black Church Perspective in which he addressed why the Black church should get past the traditional yelling ‘Hallelujah’s’ and ‘Amens’ to addressing issues that plague our community. While Dr. Harris did not dismiss the importance of praise and worship, he did bring to light the purpose of the Black church.

After reflecting upon his words while I pastored a church in Maryland for ten years, I can’t help but to draw on the need for the Black church to tackle the illness of poverty, health care, education, and community development, just to name a few in today’s culture. I’m concerned that many people in church leadership have adopted a financial prosperity theology, mentality, and ideology that the problems and issues that people of color face everyday has been overlooked and/or neglected.

Too many televangelists (not all of them) are always asking money for this and money for that, that there is no sermon about ending violence in the home and on the streets. When was the last time you heard a televangelist address the prison industrial complex that is incarcerating young black men and women at alarming rates. That’s why it’s important for the black church to revive this country.

Purpose and mission

Now, you may be asking how can the Black church revive this country? The first thing it needs to do is remember its purpose and mission. The black church should set people free (mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually) through the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. It can’t focus on musical programs so much that the people in the pews are not empowered and transformed to do better and live better. The second thing the black church needs to do in reviving this country is to speak up and speak out against injustice. This has to be done within as well as outside of the four-walls of the church. Unless the people who profess to be the representatives of God do something that’s revolutionary, the people of God will continue to follow the status quo. You cannot separate church and state when God is the center.

Great Anointing in Bendigo, Vic / Live webcast this Sun 11 May on Mother’s Day / Pr Daniel ministering in West Melbourne on Sat 17 & 18 May

Dear family & friends in Christ,

1) Week after week we keep thanking the Lord for His mighty hand at work throughout our country.

On the weekend gone by Pr Daniel ministered along with a team from CTFM in Bendigo, Vic.

The presence of God was so awesome in every meeting. The people gathered in this small church were mightily blessed. Several people who don’t go to church came for the meeting, as they saw the local newspaper add.  They were really touched by God.

One lady stated, “Had I known it was a church service I would have not come. However, now I have no regrets for coming as my opinion of a church without any guts has changed after hearing Daniel speak. Oh, how I wish that all churches will be like this.”

She spent much time talking to Pr Daniel and the team and even offered to help in the RUAP campaign. Praise God.

The Sunday night meeting was the highlight when the presence of God fell so strongly that Pr Daniel could not preach and the people at the meeting spent most of the evening on their knees worshipping the King of kings. Glory to God.

2) Pr Daniel will be ministering God’s prophetic Word and praying for people this Sunday 11th May on Mother’s Day at the 9.30am & 6:30pm worship services at CTFM at 30 Star Crescent in Hallam, Melbourne.

Please note that the morning service will be live webcast at www.reformationharvestfire.com beginning at 10:30am (AEDT).

3) Pr Daniel will be ministering God’s prophetic Word and praying for people at RUAP & Holy Spirit revival meetings on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th May at I AM House of Worship at 11 Desire Place (off Old Geelong Rd behind Dulux building) in Hoppers Crossing (West Melbourne).

Canberra Rocks with Praise, Worship & Prayer right outside Federal Parliament / Pr Daniel ministering in Bendigo, Vic this weekend 3rd & 4th May / RUA Prayer Melbourne on Friday 2nd May

Dear family & friends in Christ,

1) We must thank God every day for our nation of Australia.

Last weekend was truly history making as many Christians gathered outside the Federal Parliament building on the lawn to lift up praise, worship & prayer to the King of kings and the Lord of lords in Canberra, Australia’s capital city.

This glorious public celebration was organized by the Indonesian Australian churches in Sydney as the Lord placed in their hearts to come to Canberra and lift up prophetic worship to Jesus.

This was a great afternoon where the airways around Parliament were filled with praise, worship & prayer through a high powered PA system and a great bunch of musicians and singers lifting praises to God for 3 hours.

A large group of worshippers carrying banners & flags marched around the place, declaring Australia for Jesus.

Several Pastors led in prayer with great passion and love for Australia. Then Hilary & Paul who run Canberra House of Prayer made several very strategic prophetic declarations over Australia. Afterward, Pr Daniel Nalliah brought the Word of God. The sky was overcast, but as the words were spoken ‘Let the light of Jesus shine’, just then the clouds parted for a few seconds and there was bright sunshine.  It was just amazing.

Everyone who passed by was given a t-shirt which stated “His Kingdom shall reign”.  The place was filled with the presence of God.  One sound guy, who is not a believer commented, “I feel like chills running through my spine.” There was much warfare in the Spirit, pulling down the spiritual strongholds over Canberra and then there was a real sense of victory.

We praise God for the Indonesian Australians who planned such a great event. It brings us great joy to see their heart for our country Australia.

On Sunday Pr Daniel preached in Canberra and those who were at the meeting were mightily blessed.

Let God arise and His enemies be scattered!

When Christian Arabs Reach Muslims With the Gospel

Teams visit Syrian and Bedouin camps in Lebanon to bring aid and relief and to pray with those who have gone through crisis. Kathryn Berry OM International3/26/2014 OM International

Gathered in a home in Jordan, 15 local believers discussed the life-altering experience of Arab-to-Arab outreach. These were Jordanian Christians who had gone on outreach trips to Turkey and Lebanon.

As the conversation progressed, it became apparent each of them had experienced a profound shift in faith. For the first time in many of their lives, their eyes were opened to the spiritual need of their Muslim neighbors.

From Jordan

Jordan is 98 percent Muslim, leaving the minority Christian population noticeably weak and vulnerable. Despite living in a Muslim society, most of the Jordanian Christians who participated in the outreach had never been in a Muslim home, much less shared the gospel with a Muslim. Being outside their country to minister to Muslims opened their eyes to the need for ministry in their own country.

For many of the local believers, they came to understand the spiritual needs of Muslims by first addressing the physical needs of Syrian refugees. The tragic war in Syria has left millions of suffering families around the region. Jordan, along with other countries bordering Syria, has been flooded with refugees. Traveling to Lebanon and Turkey opened the Jordanian believers’ hearts to the plight of the refugees. Moreover, it helped them realize the spiritual need of the Muslims around them back home.

Police in India Rebuke, File Case against Christians Fleeing Hindu Extremist Attack

Photo Pastor Tilas Bedia, left, with the family of his brother Chandra Bedia center Morning Star NewsNEW DELHI, March 26, 2014 (Morning Star News) – A police station official in India’s Jharkhand state this month reviled Christians who sought protection after Hindu extremists beat and threatened to kill them for refusing to convert to Hinduism, area church leaders said.

Accusing Christian leaders of forcible conversion, the Hindu extremists earlier this month attempted to forcibly convert several church members after disrupting a home worship service, beating them and parading them half-naked through the street, area pastor Rampath Nath told Morning Star News.

Police subsequently registered a case of forcible conversion against four Christians, he said.

Virender Singh, the police official at the station in Patratu Thana, Ramgarh District, verbally abused the Christians who fled their homes, rebuked them and sent them away without taking their complaint after the Hindu extremists beat them on two consecutive days, stripped off their clothes and chased them from Pali village, Nath said.

Some 10 Hindu extremists stormed into the March 4 worship meeting at the house of pastor Tilas Bedia at 7 p.m. and began beating the Christians, including the pastor’s 60-year-old mother, Christian leaders said.

Why the Media Doesn’t Cover Jihadist Attacks on Middle East Christians

By Raymond Ibrahim  March 21, 2014  The Torch (Christians United for Israel, Winter 2014)

“To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to public disgrace”—Hebrews 6:6

The United Nations, Western governments, media, universities, and talking heads everywhere insist that Palestinians are suffering tremendous abuses from the state of Israel.  Conversely, the greatest human rights tragedy of our time—radical Muslim persecution of Christians, including in Palestinian controlled areas—is devotedly ignored.

The facts speak for themselves. Reliable estimates indicate that anywhere from 100-200 million Christians are persecuted every year; one Christian is martyred every five minutes. Approximately 85% of this persecution occurs in Muslim majority nations.

In 1900, 20% of the Middle East was Christian. Today, less than 2% is. {except in Israel. DAS}

Beauty from Ashes: Thousands of Syrians are Coming to Christ Reports Middle East Ministries Assisted by U.S. Non-Profit Christian Aid Mission

A Syrian refugee steps outside her makeshift housing. Syrian refugees are finding hope in the midst of suffering as they seek answers to their questions about Christ, the cross, and forgiveness.January 29, 2014 – CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (ANS)

Are the conversions real?

That was the question posed by Cynthia Finley, president of Christian Aid Mission, after staff received another round of encouraging, if not glowing, reports from Middle East ministries that stated “thousands” of Syrians have committed their hearts to Jesus Christ.

Christian Aid Mission is a U.S. non-profit organization that assists hundreds of ministries overseas that have tens of thousands of indigenous missionaries in the field. These ministries are currently engaging more than 1,000 unreached people groups in over 100 countries around the world. Christian Aid Mission is a 60-year-old organization and one of the first to support native missionary ministries overseas

Challenged to dig deeper, Christian Aid Mission staff contacted ministries they assist in the region, ministries that have invested wholeheartedly in outreach to war-weary Syrians through personal interaction.

Their gospel workers have done far more than hand out blankets and bags of groceries. They listened as a young widow with children described the day a stray bullet flew through their kitchen window in Syria and struck her husband in the head. They consoled a 15-year-old orphan and helped him find safe passage into Eastern Europe, where he can receive an education. Others have sat shivering with refugee families in their threadbare tents as they offered prayers for God to restore their once beautiful country.

Great presence of God in Sydney / Passover dinner

Speaking in PenrithMinistering in BlaxlandDear family & friends in Christ,

1) We thank and praise God for a wonderful time of ministry in Sydney over the past weekend. Pr Daniel along with a team from CTFM ministered in Plumpton, Penrith and Blaxland in Sydney at YWAM, also in a Brethren church and a Full Gospel church.  People who came for the meetings were mightily touched by God’s word and the powerful testimonies of what God is doing in Australia in this hour.

One lady stated, “I was wondering whether or not to come for one of the meetings, but thank God I ended up coming for all 3 meetings. I was challenged and now I feel so uplifted up and encouraged.” Many young people who were at the meetings were also greatly impacted.

There was two main high lights of the meeting:

Passover dinner at CTFMWorshipping the Lord at Passover1) A young girl shared with us that her mother had wanted to abort her, but because someone was willing to adopt her, praise God she was not aborted and lived. This young girl was so happy that Pr Daniel has been advocating for people to be given greater access for adoption.  This should encourage people not to abort in Australia. She also told us that her adoptive parents went through a very hard time to get the rights to adopt her.

Jesus Appears in a Dream to Suicidal Buddhist Woman

Filled with despair, a Russian Buddhist woman attempted to take her own life. But Jesus appeared to her in a dream offering new hope and peace, and the beginning of a new life in Christ.Mark Ellis, Dr. Claus Hecht (Apr 1, 2014)

In the dream, Jesus looked deeply into her soul and said, “Believe in Me and pray, Yulia, and I will save you.”

Filled with despair, a Russian Buddhist woman attempted to take her own life. But Jesus appeared to her in a dream offering new hope and peace, and the beginning of a new life in Christ. (Photo via God Reports)

According to a report by SEND International, Yulia was raised by educated Buddhist parents living in Russia. By local standards, they were making it. Her family regularly visited the local shrine to worship and pay their respects to Buddha. Although her father was an engineer and her mother a biochemist, Yulia failed to get an education and did not enjoy her job cleaning houses.

When her father died suddenly, her mother slid into a spiral of depression, alcoholism, and abuse. Day after day, fights and arguments ensued and there were more and more problems. One day, when Yulia was 21, her mother—in a fit of drunken rage—told her to leave. Her mother’s last hateful words were, “Just leave. I don’t even care. And if you die, I won’t even cry.”

Saudi Arabian Sheiks Legally Importing Bibles

Saudi Arabian Sheiks Legally Importing BiblesBreaking Christian News – Mar 24, 2014

(Saudi Arabia)—The following is from a worker in the Middle East who wishes to remain anonymous:

For the last 30 years, people have smuggled Bibles into this Islamic country in the Arabian Peninsula in suitcases, been increasingly caught and deported and the Bibles destroyed. Six years ago, I decided that if I could make one contribution to the Gospel, I would import them legally.

I was a neighbor to some very powerful sheiks. As my Arabic steadily improved, I became more interesting to them. I would meet them regularly for conversation over tea. One of the sheiks, older than I am, invited me weekly to his house, as I was friends with his son and a cousin. They often asked my reason in living in the Arabian Peninsula. I operate a bona fide business providing services the locals cannot.

Love is patient

In conversation, as we talked about the Qur’an, I would mention the Injil (Gospel) and the position of the Bible in the Qur’an. It says that we should read the Torah, the Zabur (Psalms), the Injil—all of God’s books. So I challenged them to read the Injil, saying that we in fairness could not dialogue about them unless all of us have read them, as I would have an unfair advantage as the only one in our group to have done so. The Qur’an does not speak of only one volume; it is a multi-volume work. In my view, many Muslims have been disobedient to the Qur’an by not reading all of the volumes God has given us. In humility, as an outsider who has read all the books, I don’t want to enter into discussions until they also have read them.

Faith Rising in East, Setting in West? Europe and Christianity

Bestselling author Eric Metaxas address industry leaders at the National Religious Broadcasters dinner in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday, March 3, 2013.By Eric Metaxas, Christian Post Contributor – February 1, 2014|

If I asked you to describe the state of Christianity in Europe, you’d probably answer “not good.” And there’d be ample reason to do so. Most of us are familiar with the depressing statistics regarding church attendance in Western Europe and Scandinavia.

But there is more to Europe than Britain, France, and Sweden. And in Central and Eastern Europe, a different story is being written.

This story was the subject of a recent First Things article by Filip Mazurczak. In it, Mazurczak reveals to readers what is going on in former communist societies such as Hungary and Croatia. For instance, while the European Union notoriously omitted any mention of Europe’s Christian heritage in the preamble to its constitution, Hungary’s new constitution “ties Christianity to Hungarian nationhood.”

By way of additional contrast to the secularized E.U., the document “defines marriage as the union of a man and woman, [and] speaks of the rights of unborn Hungarians.”

An even more encouraging story is unfolding in Croatia. In December, two-thirds of the population there voted to amend the constitution to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman. For a nation aspiring for E.U. membership, this definitely went against the grain.
