What I Learned From The Fathers

Spiritual Fathers in the Lord Jesus ChristArticle by Dave Buehring appeared in Charisma Magazine

Our spiritual fathers have much to offer us from their years of walking with God. Here’s what I learned recently from Jack Hayford, John Perkins, Lloyd Ogilvie, Loren Cunningham, Henry Blackaby and Winkie Pratney.

In the days of the early church, the apostle Paul stressed the importance to believers of having a leader, or “father,” they could learn from. He wrote to the Corinthians: “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.” (1 Cor. 4:15-16, NKJV).

It is no different today. Those who are young in the faith need leaders to imitate, and those who are more mature must seek to live worthy of imitation, to be leaders who understand the responsibility and foundation of healthy church leadership. (more…)

Pastor Daniel Nalliah Wins Annual Top Gong At Ernie Awards

Pastor Daniel Nalliah speaking out for Pro-LifeDear family & friends in Christ,

It is reported that Martin Luther once said something along the lines of, ‘Do not worry about what either people or the media says, both good and bad publicity is always good for the cause.’

Over the last few days, you have possibly read newspaper articles on many major media outlets across Australia regarding Pas Daniel winning the annual top gong at Ernie Awards for sexist comment of the year. Of course it’s not a surprise that when you stand for Jesus, His kingdom, righteousness, justice and truth, you be increasingly attacked by Satan and his cohorts. However, how you handle it is what’s most important.

When Pas Daniel heard about the award on Thursday 1st October, he cracked up laughing in the office and shouted, “Glory to God, more publicity for the Kingdom of God. When God starts to move, He is setting the stage for His prophetic word of Healing, Deliverance and Salvation to spread like wild fire through these same media outlets. God is up to something very big, so I am very, very excited. Bring it on mate!!!”

Christians Rally To Defend Prayers In Jesus’ Name

Former Military ChaplainCharisma News Online – Wednesday, 05 August 2009 – Adrienne S. Gaines News – Featured News

A former military chaplain who battled the U.S. Navy over the right to pray in Jesus’ name is waging a similar fight in Lodi, Calif., where the City Council in May temporarily banned sectarian prayers before meetings.

Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt expects several hundred people-some from out of state-to join him tonight at 6 p.m. for a “Stand Up for Jesus” prayer rally protesting a city policy requiring all prayers to be “non-sectarian and non-denominational.”

“Jesus is not an illegal word, the Bible is not a banned book, and evangelistic speech is not a crime,” Klingenschmitt wrote in an online petition that collected more than 5,000 signatures, half of them from Californians. The charismatic chaplain plans to present the petition at tonight’s rally.

Christian Sudanese Woman Facing 40 Lashes For Wearing Trousers

By Mail Foreign Service – 30th July 2009

A Christian woman who faces 40 lashes for wearing trousers in Sudan made a dramatic appearance in court yesterday to fight her case.

Lubna Ahmed al-Hussein walked into the packed hearing in the same green slacks that got her arrested.

Under Islamic laws used in parts of the country, it is illegal for a woman to wear trousers rather than long skirts in public.

Lubna al-Hussein, along with several other women, was arrested for dressing indecently in trousers as she dined in a restaurant

But the law is not supposed to apply to non-Muslims like Miss Hussein, a former journalist who works for the United Nations.

And it is only imposed sporadically in the capital, Khartoum, where she was arrested.
Indecency cases are not uncommon in Sudan, but Miss Hussein has used hers to campaign against dress codes. (more…)

Police Officers In Fiji Share Jesus Christ With Squatters

Labasa, FijiBy Teresa Neumann

“We can’t just preach about Jesus from the pulpit or during crusades and not demonstrate his love to our neighbors. This is the first time for the officers to go out and give food and clothes to members of the community and we will continue to do it.”

(Fiji)—The Fiji Times reports that as part of their community policing crusade, police officers in Labasa—joined by church pastors—donated food and clothes to residents of Namara squatter settlement and shared the Gospel of Jesus with them at the weekend.

Regional Police Commander Northern Senior Superintendent Isikeli Ligairi was quoted as saying officers needed to show people that Jesus cares. (more…)

Marching For Jesus In Secular France

At The MarchIn France, a country known for its secularization and growing Islamic population, tens of thousands of Christians will take to the streets for a March for Jesus on Saturday, which is being held at the same time as the nation’s annual gay pride parade.

An estimated 30,000 Christians will parade through the streets of Bordeaux, Lille, Nantes and Paris, France, distributing 100,000 Bibles and 20,000 gospel tracts. Representing at least 70 different churches, marchers will carry signs proclaiming Jesus as Lord as they sing worship songs.

Parade participants also hope to be able to share their faith with the estimated 800,000 people who will gather for the nation’s annual gay pride parade, whose route will intersect with the March for Jesus. Christian marchers have been prepped to pray and witness to the homosexuals without fear.

“It would be such a great privilege to be praying for all of the thousands of homosexuals that will be marching on the streets,” said Christine Thabot, an event organizer and co-pastor of Temple de Paris with her husband, David. “We’re not afraid. They need love, and we are there to bring them the love of Christ.” (more…)

Anti-Christian Britain

Chuch ColsonBy Chuck Colson

As you may know, in Islamic countries such as Afghanistan, converting from Islam to Christianity is a crime punishable by death. While they don’t go that far, certain Indian states and Nepal erect formidable hurdles for would-be converts to Christianity.

And then there’s the United Kingdom.

In 2007, a 16-year-old girl was placed into foster care after being assaulted by a family member. Her foster mother had taken care of 80 foster kids over 10 years. She rented a farmhouse and was, by all accounts, completely committed to the well-being of the children placed under her care.

She is also a practicing Anglican Christian. This hadn’t been a problem. No one had ever accused her of taking advantage of her relationship to the girls for proselytizing.

The same is true of the 16-year-old in question. Still, the girl became interested in Christianity on her own; said that she wanted to attend church; and expressed a desire to be baptized. For the girl, baptism was a “washing away of the horrible things she had been through and a symbol of a new start.” (more…)

UN Security Council Fails to Act While Civilians Suffer

(New York, May 12, 2009) – New satellite imagery and eyewitness accounts contradict Sri Lankan government claims that its armed forces are no longer using heavy weapons in the densely populated conflict area in northern Sri Lanka, Human Rights Watch said today.

Local sources have reported that more than 400 civilians have been killed and more than 1,000 wounded since May 9, 2009, as a result of artillery attacks on the thin coastal strip where fighting continues between government forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). (more…)

Miss California Says Her Beliefs “Cost Me My Crown”; No Regrets Though

By Teresa Neumann – The Christian Post

Carrie Prejean“I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything…By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith. I’m glad I stayed true to myself.” Keep the faith, Carrie, and you’ll have a crown in Heaven.

(California)—The Christian Post reports that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, who was named first runner up in the Miss USA Pageant on Sunday, says she believes her answer on same-sex marriage (she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman) cost her the title but admits that she has no regrets.

“It did cost me my crown,” Carrie told Billy Bush on his radio talk show recently. “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do…I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.” (more…)

The Anzac Spirit

The Anzac Spirit – Article by Col Stringer, Col Stringer Ministries, Queensland Australia

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 5:13)

What does the word ‘Anzac’ really mean to this modern generation? I believe we are in danger of losing much of our heritage in this nation. The words of John Williamson’s song ‘True Blue’ seem to be proving chillingly accurate in modern Australia.
