MUSLIMS CONVERTED TO CHRIST IN IRAQ

by Dr. Peter Hammond

General Georges Sada, a former air force fighter pilot who once served as a senior military advisor to Saddam Hussein, is one of thousands of Iraqis who have become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The remarkable testimony of General Sada was passed on to me by a former Frontline Fellowship mission worker, John Michael, who is working as a security advisor in Iraq. John Michael writes: “With all the negative and extremely disturbing violent news coming out of the Middle East, there is good news. Where there is conflict, there needs to be sober examination of our own faith as we are put to the test. Our purpose and meaning to life must be scrutinized. What is overwhelmingly obvious is that those who promote freedom and respect towards others are expressing their own personal faith in the God of the Bible. However, when confronting a religious system that lives for, and thrives on, violent conflict in Jihad with suicidal martyrdom seen as the only assurance of salvation, the question remains – what is the purpose of living? The hope for a peaceful and blessed life is really limited when such an extremely violent death is sought after. This raises some really disturbing questions about such a religious system, which has so little respect for humanity and life in general.”

“Religion can be a curse or a blessing. There is the God who blesses with life in all its abundance, and there is the god who steals, deceives, kills and destroys. It becomes as clear as the day when Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. The power of God was revealed with fire from on high showing who the true God was (1 Kings 18). This spectacular demonstration of God’s power, awe and might is now clearly on display in Iraq for all the world to see who really is the one true God.”

Which Jesus?

Dave Welch – Posted by World Net Daily on January 09, 2010

In the same week, Britt Hume of Fox News had the audacity to evoke the name of Jesus Christ as a means of restoration for Tiger Woods and Pastor Joel Osteen evoked His name in blessing an activist lesbian as she was inaugurated as mayor of his city and while C-Span broadcast it nationwide. The first is being vilified, the second adored.

Are they both talking about the same Jesus? Does Jesus both restore sinners and bless sin? My Bible says very clearly that the first is central to His coming and the second is utterly incompatible.

Exhibit 1: Excerpt from Joel Osteen’s prayer at openly lesbian Mayor Annise Parker’s Inauguration:

… We ask that everything we do would bring honor to you … and we just lift up especially Mayor Annise Parker. … Lord, we thank you just for raising her up and just for your goodness, your mercy in her life, and just for supernatural wisdom, Father. We honor her today and our other officials, and Lord, we count it a joy and honor to be here in your presence with all of our friends and we just thank you for this day. In Jesus name, amen.

Use the Quran to share Christ with Muslim, veteran missionary suggests

By George Henson, Staff Writer – Published: December 31, 2009

ANGLETON—Winning Muslim converts to Christianity is difficult, but veteran missionary Kevin Greeson knows a way—start with the Quran.

Greeson, who has served 16 years with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board working to start Christian movements among Muslims in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, stressed the importance of spreading the good news of Christ with Muslims.

“The best way to fight terrorism is to share the gospel. And I believe that not because I want to fight terrorism, but because there are lost people,” he explained.

Debating religious tenets with Muslims is a waste of time, Greeson added. Muslims are taught to memorize the Quran in Arabic, not analyze it, he said.

Zambian President: Country Should Maintain Christian Identity

Zambian President Rupiah Bandaby Aimee Herd : Jan 4, 2010 : Dennis May – Christian Post

Zambian President Rupiah Banda said Tuesday that the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation should be retained in the Republican Constitution.

In a speech read at the 18th anniversary celebration of the country’s Christian declaration, Banda said, “It is my passionate desire that my government can access the prosperity which comes from the living God.”

“I am very positive that you, my fellow Zambians, share this belief with me that in this covenant lies the wisdom of God which, if you hold any kingly position like I do as the Republican President of this nation, then you can align with the covenant like King David did,” he said.

“If you are a spiritual leader, you can also align with the covenant like Moses did.”

Banda also said that people should not take Zambia’s peace for granted but rather see it as a gift from God. (more…)

70 million is too many: Immigrant-fuelled population boom will damage society, say leading public figures

By James Slack, Home Affairs Editor – 06th January 2010

Immigration must be urgently curbed to stop the population hitting 70million and causing ‘serious harm’ to society, an alliance of leading public figures demanded yesterday.

The call to action comes in a report signed by a host of respected names, including former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, ex-Labour speaker Betty Boothroyd and former Tory Party chairman Michael Ancram.

The cross-party group wants manifesto commitments from Labour and the Conservatives to cut net migration to fewer than 40,000 a year – compared to the current rate of 163,000.

This is the reduction to net migration – the number of immigrants arriving in the UK, minus those leaving – needed to stop the population reaching 70million within the next two decades.

Two Inspiring Stories of Survival from Haiti’s Earthquake-devastated Capital

Rachel and Joel - Young couple claw their way out of rubbleby Aimee Herd : Jan 15, 2010 : CBS NewsFrank and Jillian - Husband saves wife who was trapped for 10 hours underneath wreckage from quake

“Mom, it was a miracle, God performed a miracle.”

President Obama, on Thursday, spoke to the people of Haiti during a press conference, telling them they “would not be forsaken” or forgotten.

As reports filter in about the devastation in Haiti, I find it interesting to note how many NGO workers, Christian groups and missionaries were already down there, working among the Haitian people prior to Tuesday’s enormous quake. A large number of them come from America.

The following are survival stories from a couple of those who were already in Haiti helping the people there until the massive tremor struck. Their rescues highlight the desperation of the situation there up to this point.

Deaf ears open and demons flee as the supernatural power of God manifests in Brisbane, Australia

Churches combine for miracle healing revival in BrisbaneLady healed from deafness in both ears

Dear friends and family in Christ,

1) What a mighty God we serve, the reigning King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Name above all names, our Lord Jesus Christ!

It’s so good to get back into full action after the Christmas and New Year’s break. In this New Year 2010 we at CTFM are prayerfully trusting our faithful Father in heaven for an unprecedented outpouring of His Holy Spirit, an unprecedented harvest of souls, and an unprecedented advancement of the Kingdom of God in Australia and across the Nations of the World!

Well, all glory to God for the weekend gone by which was absolutely awesome in the presence of the Lord!

Pastor Daniel ministered at the Forest Lakes AOG in Brisbane, Australia. Many gathered expecting a miracle from God, with some travelling a long way to get there, and were mightily touched by the miracle working power of God! Some were weeping, others shouting for joy, while some could not simply stand under the Anointing of the Holy Spirit and just crashed to the ground. Pastor Daniel stated, “I had not even started laying hands on people. It was the Spirit of God at work amongst the people of God at the altar.”

Christians not deterred by planned atheist protest at major prayer rally on Australia Day for rain and protection from bushfires

Media release – For immediate release

On Australia Day January 26 at 10.30am, an expected crowd of 1000 Christians from different churches, denominations, ethnicities, and states will gather at Springvale Town Hall, 397 Springvale Rd Springvale in Melbourne to pray for God’s protection over Australia during this bushfire season.

Catch the Fire Ministries President, Pastor Daniel Nalliah who will also be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida USA for his work to secure freedom of speech in Australia and his ongoing stand for Christian values, said he had been alerted to the atheists protests by the venue planners, but would not allow the atheists to hijack the prayers or detract from the purpose of praying for Australia.

The special guest speaker Reverend Dr Zamekio Jackson who oversees the U.S. Christian College, as well as more than 300 churches across the U.S., and who has personally witnessed many supernatural miracles following prayer, will be travelling with his prayer team from America to deliver a special message to Australians.

“We’re expecting extraordinary things in the Spirit of God to happen on Australia Day. The City of Greater Dandenong Council who operates the Springvale Town Hall have informed us that atheists have been in contact with them to notify them of proposed protests, but also to let us know that they will call the police if the protests get out of hand. We Christians will not be distracted by the atheists. We’re there to pray for the nation of Australia and if the atheists’ intention is to hijack the event, it’s not going to happen. We love the atheists because Jesus, who is our prime example, loves the atheists. They and anyone for that matter is most welcome to enter the town hall and hear about God’s supernatural miracles around the world in answer to the prayers of His people,” Pastor Nalliah said.

Israel, Arab countries plan for war with Iran

Tehran, IranSecret talks held to discuss how to respond to retaliatory attacks

FROM WND’S JERUSALEM BUREAU – By Aaron Klein – December 21, 2009

TEL AVIV – Intelligence officials from Israel, Egypt, Jordan and the U.S. held a meeting last week to discuss specific responses to Iranian retaliatory attacks during a potential war with Tehran, WND has learned.
A senior Egyptian intelligence official told WND the main talks, which took place in Amman, revolved around the possibility of Iranian-directed Palestinian and Islamic attacks against Israel, Egypt and Jordan during a possible future war with Iran.

The official said scenarios discussed revolved only around Iranian retaliatory attacks and did not take into account how any future war with Iran would be initiated or the timing of such a war.

The official said the concern was that Iran would use proxies such as Hamas in the Gaza Strip to attack both Egypt and Israel, while Hezbollah in Lebanon would launch missiles at Israeli population centers, including Tel Aviv.

Religious leaders vow civil disobedience on anti-life issues

Saturday, November 21, 2009 – Washington Times – Julia Duin

More than 150 leaders across a spectrum of conservative Christianity on Friday released a 4,700-word document vowing civil disobedience if they are forced to take part in “anti-life acts” or bless gay marriages.

Called the “Manhattan Declaration,” the six-page, single-spaced document was drafted by Prison Fellowship founder Charles Colson, an evangelical, and Princeton University professor Robert P. George, a Roman Catholic, and included a bevy of Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox bishops, archbishops and cardinals as signatories along with dozens of clergy and laity.

Archbishop of Washington Donald W. Wuerl is one of the signatories.

“Throughout the centuries, Christianity has taught that civil disobedience is not only permitted, but sometimes required,” says the document which cited civil rights icon Martin Luther King and his willingness to go to jail for his beliefs. (more…)
