Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham’s Daughter) Comments on Devastation in USA

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show (USA) after the fierce devastation left by Hurricane Katrina in the southern parts of USA in 2005. Anne Graham Lotz gave an extremely profound and insightful response.

Jane Clayson: ‘How could God let something like this happen?’

Anne Graham Lotz: ‘I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.  And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.  How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?’

A God Of Justice or Love? What Does the Bible say?

Pastor Danny & Wife MaryseDear friends and family in Christ,

All glory to God as we continue to serve the Lord through His grace and strength standing strong for the truth of His Word in the mighty Name of Jesus!

There has been much speculation and discussion in the Church (Body of Christ) as to the timing of my article recently released through the media. Following is an excerpt from the dream which was published in the article. “In my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God. That His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.”

I was led by the Holy Spirit to write the article and when it was finished, I took it to the office, but knowing the furor that it may cause, took it home with me again.  On Day 2, I took it back to the office, but still could not release it.  On Day 3, the Lord asked me whether I was going to listen to Him or to man, (including other pastors, ministers, and Christian leaders). In the words of Paul the Apostle, sent not from man or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, writing to the Galatians (born-again Spirit-filled Christians), “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10) (more…)

Luther Rome And The Bible

Editors comments:  There is no doubt we are seeing the most significant shift within the Christian Church, and indeed in the nations, in our lifetime, as the “Season of Change” that we have been proclaiming for more than 12 months now begins to take shape. An article in next weeks International News for example tells of an atheist who is proclaiming that Christianity is the only hope for Africa. In this article another major shift of potentially great spiritual significance has begun within the Roman Catholic Church as an initiative of the Pope. Whilst there are still many theological and doctrinal differences between Rome and the Protestant Church, we can only watch and marvel at how God is changing long standing paradigms and moving mountains to bring His purposes to pass in our day.

LUTHER, ROME & THE BIBLE

By Jeff Fountain, Protestant leader within the International Prayer Movement

Luther would have been amazed at the efforts of the Vatican today to put the Bible back into the heart of the Roman Catholic Church. In October last, bishops from around the world were called to Rome for a three-week synod to discuss how to promote prayerful reading, understanding and proclamation of God’s Word. Pope Benedict XVI himself kicked off the synod with a round-the-clock Bible reading marathon lasting a whole week, by reading the opening verses of Genesis. Twelve hundred readers took part, including Orthodox and Evangelical leaders. (more…)

Ted CottenBy Teresa Neumann

What an inspiration. Truly.

(Longview, WA)—As reported in Baptist Press News (BPN), having kept written track over the years, 85-year-old retired pastor Ted Cotten has now witnessed to 10,000 people. “If God lets me live long enough,” he said, “my goal is to reach 50,000.”

How does he do it? Wherever he goes—restaurants, stores, banks, sporting events, vacation spots—Cotten reportedly asks people if they’d be willing to read a short prayer (of salvation) he says changed his life more than 70 years ago. (more…)

Urgent Action Required: Sri Lanka Anti-Conversion Bill

Ministers on stage at the prayer rally against the Anti-Conversion BillDear Family and Friends in Christ,

We returned from Sri Lanka 2 weeks ago, as we were there for over a month.  My trip was primarily a holiday, but I had the opportunity to spend time with many church leaders from many Christian denominations.

4000+ Sri Lankan Christians protest against Anti Conversion Bill in ColomboIt was brought to my attention that the Anti-Conversion Bill was back in the Sri Lankan Parliament and if passed would cause major problems for the church and those wanting to embrace Christianity. This unjust bill raised its head under the former government, but was put off mainly because of united prayer and action initiated by many Christian organizations, ministries, churches, and believers around the world.

Many lobbied their respective Sri Lankan Embassy in the country they lived in. Also I personally spent much time in the US State Department along with my US counterparts, who work on Christian Human Rights Issues, to stop the Anti-Conversion Bill from going through. The end result was that the then president The Hon Chandrika B Kumaratunge did not let it get through Parliament. (more…)

Open Doors USA President Calls On American Christians To Pray For Mideast Crisis

By Michael Ireland

“Pray that the war between Israel and Palestine is shorter and less devastating than what military and political speculators around the world are predicting.”

IDF Tank Moves Into GazaEDITOR’S NOTE: BCN recognizes the Scriptural call to support and stand with Israel. At the same time, we know that God loves both Israelis AND Palestinians; both Jews AND Muslims; and of course, Christians. While this particular prayer request is focused on Christians who are affected by the Gaza war, we believe we are called to pray for ALL of those in the area—for God’s Divine intervention in the situation. It is only God’s Spirit that can change the heart of a terrorist. –Aimee Herd, BCN.

(Garden Grove, California)—An estimated 10,000 Israeli ground troops moved into Gaza on Jan. 3rd, [in answer to the continuous rocket and long range missile attacks on Israel by the terrorist organization, Hamas]. [Meanwhile,] the small community of Christians in the area have been drawing strength from their faith in God. Last week’s attacks left more than 400 dead and 2,000 injured and the numbers are expected to dramatically increase. (more…)

Make “Resolutions Of The Heart” For 2009 Suggests Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

By Teresa Neumann

Billy Graham“Live generously and God’s love will be evident in your life.”

Contemplating setting goals for 2009? The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has some ideas: live generously, reflect all year long, and grow closer to God.

“A list of resolutions can lead to discouragement if the goals prove too difficult to maintain. After all, lasting change begins in a person’s heart—not on a numbered list or piece of paper,” writes Ann Marie Chilton for the BGEA website. “If people are generous with their time, generous with their money, and generous with their belongings, then it’s easy for others to see Christ’s love lived out through their lives. Orissa Bishops Warn Of ‘Master Plan’ To Wipe-Out Christianity

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)

By Michelle A. Vu – Christian Post Reporter

Catholic bishops from the persecution ravaged state of Orissa warned this week that Hindu extremists have a “master plan” to wipe out Christianity in the remote eastern Indian state.

In a letter to the state’s chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, the Indian bishops conveyed their concerns about the mass “exodus of Christians” from Kandhamal District and addressed the “considerable reduction” of refugees in relief camps, according to Catholic News Agency.

The bishops denied that the Christian refugees were leaving the camps to safely return to their homes. Most, they reported, are moving to relief camps in other areas such as in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jhanla, Berhampur, or have moved into rented houses, homes of relatives, friends or acquaintances.

“It is estimated that 10,000 to 15,000 Christians of Kandhamal district are living outside the district,” the bishops wrote in the letter to the minister. (more…)

The Golden Rule – ‘Charter For Compassion’

A new interfaith project has been launched (13 Nov 2008) to bring all religious groups together, as well as people of no religion, to formulate and endorse a ‘Charter for Compassion’ – a declaration endorsing the ‘Golden Rule’ -  the one that says “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”!

The project is the idea of Karen Armstrong, an interfaith advocate and former Catholic nun, who now calls herself a “freelance monotheist”. She has written sympathetically about Islam in the past few years. Her initial idea for the Charter was to involve Christianity, Islam and Judaism. However, she has now, after discussion with interfaith groups, expanded the plan to include various other religions as well as people of no religion.

Karen Armstrong quotes the Dalai Lama and Confucius. She maintains that all the major religions have a form of the ‘golden rule’ and that atheists too can adopt this rule. At the same time as highlighting ‘compassion’, she criticises ‘fundamentalism or religious ‘dogma’. She wants the United Nations to assist with the project. (more…)

Australian Committee Proposal To Pay Mothers to Abort Disabled Babies Compared To Nazis

By Hilary White

CANBERRA, November 13, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)

The Australian Parliamentary Group on Population and Development has been slammed by Queensland Senator Ron Boswell for holding to Nazi-style eugenic ideology on the abortion of disabled children.

“This revisiting of eugenics principles is repugnant to a society that prides itself on the contribution of all,” Boswell said.

The pro-abortion group had made a submission, signed by 41 Australian MPs, to the parliamentary committee that is examining the issue of abortion in Australia. The group said paying women a Medicare rebate for second-trimester abortions would save the government about $180,000 a year, due to the high costs of caring for handicapped babies who are allowed to be born. U.S. ‘Must Oppose’ Islamic ‘Anti-Defamation’ Demands Proponents ‘Will Continue To Push’ Agenda At U.N. In Coming Years

By Bob Unruh

A Heritage Foundation expert warns that the U.S. will need to maintain active opposition to plans for “religious anti-defamation” laws both within its borders and on an international scale, or face consequences.

In a report published on the foundation’s website,  Steven Groves said the U.S. “must remain wary of continuing efforts by U.N. member states to gain wider acceptance of the ‘defamation of religions’ concept.”

Proponents “will continue to push the ‘defamation of religions’ agenda at the U.N. Human Rights Council, the U.N. General Assembly, and at other international forums such as the April 2009 Durban Review Conference,” he warned.

Groves is the Heritage Foundation’s Bernard and Barbara Lomas Fellow in the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, a division of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for International Studies.

He also said within its own borders, the U.S. should refuse to recognize “a new legal cause of action that bans insults or criticism of religion,” because it would provide no benefit whatsoever. (more…)

UN Vote: Rudd Breaks With Howard On Israel

By Phillip Hudson,

November 10, 2008

Israeli FlagAustralian FlagAUSTRALIA has switched its position to vote against Israel on two resolutions at the United Nations, ending the Howard government’s unswerving alignment with the United States and raising concern from the Jewish community.

The move also signals to the incoming Obama administration that the Rudd Government plans to take a different approach to the Howard government on the international stage.

In the weekend vote in New York, Australia supported a resolution calling on Israel to stop establishing settlements in the Palestinian territories and a resolution calling for the Geneva Conventions to apply in the Palestinian territories. (more…)
