Victorian Premier Steve Bracks resigns – July 27, 2007

Steve BracksSteve Bracks, the leader who introduced the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act into Victoria (the law which raged with controversy over 5 years), announced his immediate resignation, followed by his Deputy John Thwaites, also resigning from his position in Parliament. This change of leader to the State Labor party has shocked many. We do know that many people have been and are praying for the best possible leaders to bring Godly influence accross our State & Nation. We continue to expect this in the days ahead.
It is our hope that his replacement, John Brumby, will be someone who has even better values than Mr Bracks. We wish him all the very best & God’s blessings, as he spends time with his family.

Vic State Government (ALP) About To Pass Decriminalization of Abortion Bill

Dear Family in Christ,

1)What an amazing article by Andrew Bolt! If you didn’t read it in the Herald Sun Newspaper on the 25th July, the article is below for your reference. This self proclaimed agnostic journalist, who insists he is not a Christian, put to shame many of our so called Christian Leaders who say nothing for issues such as this due to political correctness.
Isn’t it shocking that some Christian Leaders are planning to support the Decriminalization of Abortion Bill because they believe that they cannot stop it!  Instead they plan to call for amendments to the bill… (more…)

God Is Doing A New Thing

Article by Bill Muehlenberg- God is doing a new thing

Bill MuehlenbergDear friends,

Evangelical Christianity was once found mainly in the West. But no longer. In 1960, there were an estimated 50 million evangelical Christians in the West, and 25 million in the rest of the world; today, there are an estimated 75 million in the Danny NalliahWest, and 325 million in the rest of the world (representing about 20 percent of the two billion Christians worldwide). See the whole story here: http://www.crusadewatch.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=593&Itemid=27
God is raising up Christians in the non-Western world to go evangelise in the West. One Third World believer that has been called to Australia to help revive the church is Danny Nalliah. He has a powerful testimony, and I would recommend getting a copy of his biography. See: Biography/Initial Vision tab of this website ttp://www.reformationharvestfire.com/blog/biography/ (more…)

Ex Muslim Baptised into Jesus Christ

Baptism June 3rd 2007…He just could not stop talking about Jesus and told me, “I need to get baptized, because Jesus told me to do so!”

Sunday 3rd June was a great day for the Kingdom Of God as one of His sons, originally from the Islamic Faith, went through the waters of baptism.

Two years ago I met a Muslim family from Iran living in  Australia. When I met them the wife had ‘given her life’ to Jesus. She told me, “I was one of those radical Muslims, but now I have found the Truth in Jesus. I really want my husband also to follow Jesus.” But this did not happen for 2 years, until there was a disagreement in the family 6 weeks ago and the husband left the house. The very first night he left the home, while he was in a room in a refuge at night Jesus appeared to him in a dream, and the rest is history. (more…)

Readers Slam Citizenship Test

By Mark Schliebs  May 18, 2007 11:42am

Australian readers struggle with some questions would-be Aussies must answer 20 questions from pool of 200 must achieve pass rate of 60 per cent.

NEWS.com.au readers have condemned the Federal Government’s new citizenship quiz after putting themselves to the test today. Many Australian-born readers said that not even they knew the answers to some of the questions the Government wants in the test, which will contain 20 randomly selected questions drawn from a pool of 200.

One reader described it as “idiotic nonsense” and another asked if he should be expelled – or perhaps flogged – for not knowing the name of the nation’s first Prime Minister. (more…)

Rain the talk of the town

Rain the talk of the townHerald Sun 28 April, 2007
LIFE-giving rain has made a welcome return to the vital food-bowl Wimmera Mallee region.
Nobody is brave enough yet to call it drought-breaking, but good falls yesterday and overnight have delivered at least 10mm to most farmland with some areas getting about 25mm, and patches getting even more.

Raining a climate of faith down on believers

Raining a climate of faith down on believersThe Age April 26, 2007
Worshippers from various churches gather in Fitzroy Gardens yesterday to pray for an end to the drought.

AUSTRALIANS are literally looking to the heavens for the solution to the nation’s crippling drought, according to Prime Minister John Howard.
Mr Howard urged Australians to “pray for rain” last week, when he warned that parlous water supplies in the Murray-Darling Basin could lead to allocations for irrigators virtually being cancelled. (more…)

Is Smacking Child Abuse

Bill Muehlenberg by Bill Muehlenberg – CultureWatch (http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/)

In the minds of many, there are no more scarier words than these: “Hi, we’re from the government and we’re here to help you”. Patronising government bureaucrats can certainly come up with some nightmarish scenarios. When governments become convinced they need to micromanage parenting, for example, they end up subsuming the role of parents – usually a recipe for disaster. The truth is, parents are the best placed to know how to parent their children, not faceless government bureaucrats. (more…)

Record Church Attendance a Sign of “Cultural Shift” in Australia

Aussie Gospel Outdoor Crowdby AAP/TN : Apr 11, 2007 : AAP

“This is happening across the board, it’s not just here.”

The AAP in Australia has reported that there were record-breaking attendances throughout Australia last weekend for services marking the Resurrection of Christ.

Anglican Dean Phillip Jensen of St. Andrew’s in Sydney believes the “increasing popularity of religious elements of Easter was indicative of a cultural shift in Australia.”

“This is happening across the board, it’s not just here,” said Jensen. (more…)
