US cuts off funding to UNESCO after it admits Palestine as member state

The Obama administration said it would cut off funding for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization just hours after the group on Monday voted 107-14 to accept the Palestinian Authority as a full member. The UNESCO action triggered U.S. laws from the early 1990s that bar Washington from giving money to any U.N. body that grants state status to Palestine.

JERUSALEM— (MCT) A decision by the U.N.’s cultural organization to admit Palestine as a member state set off a confrontation between the United States and the United Nations, threatening to strip Washington of influence in several key international agencies while cutting off a major source of contributions to the world body.

Administration officials had made clear that they would prefer to have Congress avoid this collision with other U.N. members, stressing their support for the mission of UNESCO and the other U.N. agencies. But a long list of pro-Israel members of Congress of both parties declared that there would be no backing down on the law.

Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., the House majority leader, said the UNESCO vote was “an affront to the international peace process and an impediment to negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians.”

“There is a coming shaking of the continent in order for a great awakening. The shakings thus far are beginning to awaken the church.

There is a coming shaking of the continent in order for a great awakening.  I saw in a sequence of visions, the whole of Australia as a giant, old-fashioned alarm clock and it was ringing to awaken the church to the hour of destiny.

The next vision in the series was of scales of justice.  There were tipping and in the distance I saw a huge storm gathering.

Stones had been dropped onto the scales on both sides.  I noted they had the words of past prayers from the generations.  The prayers have thus far “balanced” as it were the economy of the nation.

 The third and last in the series was of an hour glass.  The sands of time that had been allowed to stay the coming storms were slipping fast away while waiting for the church to be a loud voice of righteousness in the nation.

INTERPRETATION:

The shakings thus far are beginning to awaken the church.  There will be something of the nature of the American Tea Party that will arise in which the church will have a loud voice.

Waking up after the horse has bolted – Gay Marriage – Who is to be blamed??

I am sure you all are aware that the Federal Labour Party has taken a decision last weekend at their conference in Sydney to permit Gay Marriage as their party policy.

This is a very sad day for Australia.

As Andrew Bolt said in his column in the Herald Sun, ‘We are heading down a slippery slope.”  Yes, this agnostic journalist can see it, but how about the Church??

Someone came up to me at a social function last Saturday said, “What’s happening to our nation? The Labour Party is bad. The gay people are terrible because they got what they wanted.”  I remained silent for a while and then this person said, “What do you think?”

I responded, “If someone has a lion as a pet, lets it run loose around their garden, but they happen to leave the gate open and the lion gets out and attacks people, ‘Who do you think is responsible??’”

In the first place there should have been no lion at a home. However, the bigger problem and the one to be blamed is the owner who left the gate open because he was the gatekeeper.

More than 2700 tune into live webcast/Another baby saved!

1) All glory to God!  We were so excited to know that last night 2702 computers were tuned into the live webcast from Catch The Fire Apostolic Centre in Hallam, Melbourne.  According to the responses we have received so far,  in many places there was more than one person watching the broadcast. This could mean that thousands had the opportunity to hear the word of God.

We are so thankful to the Lord, as many people are reporting that so many of their loved ones at home, and also some friends who never go to church, were greatly touched by the presence of the Holy Spirit through the anointed worship and the preaching of the Word of God.

Pr Daniel stated, “ I am so happy that we can bring this live streaming right into people’s homes now, as most people watching this broadcast are people who don’t go to church. I hope and pray that people will be challenged and motivated to get back in to church and become actively involved in winning the lost into the Kingdom of God.”

The LOVE FOR AUSTRALIA Christmas Parade starts at 2pm from Hyde Park on the 10th December 2011. For those who want to lend a hand on the day, please come at 12pm sharp. Meeting point is near the Archibald Fountain within Hyde Park (Near St James Station). There are many ways you can be involved such as giving away food and flags to parade spectators,  carrying big banners, or you can simply join and walk with us.

The parade will go down Market St, George St, Liverpool St and end in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour. We will then have a Christmas Service/Concert which begins at 3pm, at Tumbalong Park. This is truly an amazing opportunity that God has given us; to worship Him in a public place! The images of Tunisians taking part in their first free election are inspiring, but we must not become so caught up in the euphoria of the moment that we overlook the dangers posed by the victors. Partial results show an Islamist party named Ennahda winning 44% of the vote. It is led by Rachid Ghannouchi, a pseudo-moderate who has endorsed suicide bombings and whose pre-campaign rhetoric sounds more like Ahmadinejad than a modern-day Thomas Jefferson.

Ghannouchi, like any skilled office-seeker, modifies his rhetoric to fit his audience. He has earned the title of “moderate Islamist” in the media and his party’s candidate for Prime Minister, Hamadi Jebali, has met with top American lawmakers like Senators McCain and Lieberman and aides to Senator Kerry. Ghannouchi reassures his opponents that he can’t be compared to Ayatollah Khomeini. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, who nonetheless has led Turkey in an anti-Western direction, is his model. He praised Erdogan in a visit to the IHH in Turkey, the extremist group behind the Gaza flotilla. (more…)

1000+ watch first webcast / Perth and Geraldton, WA Catch the Fire!

Dear family & friends in Christ,

We were so blessed to find out that 1160 computers were tuned into the first ever live webcast of Catch The Fire Ministries, as thousands watched the live streaming of the Heavenly Man, Bro Yun’s meeting last Sunday in Melbourne, Australia. The CTFM auditorium in Hallam was absolutely packed out with more than 400 people in attendance.

Everyone present was mightily blessed in addition to the many reports we received of many families all across Australia who were also tremendously blessed as they watched the webcast. We thank the Lord for this mighty man of God Bro Yun, his wife and their powerful testimony.

We would very much appreciate your feedback too if you watched the webcast. This would help us plan the possibility of live streaming our weekly Sunday services.

Also Pr Daniel had the opportunity to personally meet Bro Yun in Perth over the weekend.  It was a great meeting of 2 men of God who have served the Lord with underground churches, Pr Daniel in Saudi Arabia and Bro Yun in China. Some others watching these 2 men of God meet stated, “It was like an explosion, as we all ended up on the floor on our knees weeping in the presence of God in Koorong book store.”

Pr Daniel had a glorious time of ministry in Perth & Geraldton, WA over the weekend as hundreds of people attended the Holy Spirit revival meetings. Many were healed, delievered and set free by the miracle working power of God, as a few surrendered their lives to Jesus, including the guest house owner where Pr Daniel stayed.

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department

(CNSNews.com) — There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.

This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.

In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan’s new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department’s latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that “there were no Christian schools in the country.”

“There is no longer a public Christian church; the courts have not upheld the church’s claim to its 99-year lease, and the landowner destroyed the building in March [2010],” reads the State Department report on religious freedom. “[Private] chapels and churches for the international community of various faiths are located on several military bases, PRTs [Provincial Reconstruction Teams], and at the Italian embassy. Some citizens who converted to Christianity as refugees have returned.”

Christian faces losing home for opposing gay weddings in churches

A housing association manager faces losing his home because of his Christian views about gay weddings in churches.

Father-of-two Adrian Smith, 54, was demoted and had his pay drastically cut after he posted comments on  his private Facebook page in which  he said that celebrating same-sex weddings in churches would be ‘an equality too far’.

He was hauled before bosses at the taxpayer-funded Trafford Housing Trust in Greater Manchester and found guilty of gross misconduct.

His salary was cut from £35,000 a year to £21,396 and he was given a final written warning that means any further offence will result in his sacking. Mr Smith, who now handles rent collection, was told he had been spared the sack only because of his long service of 18 years.

Don’t Let Circumstances Affect Your Joy

“Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation” (2 Corinthians 7:4).

The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:22 that joy is one part of the fruit of the Spirit. That means that a Christian has the seed of joy inside of him. When we become a Christian, the Holy Spirit moves inside of us and actually takes up residence inside of our bodies. Our body becomes the temple of the Spirit of God and all of the characteristics of His Spirit we now have.

A major characteristic of the Spirit of God is joy and when the Spirit of God is in you, you have no excuse for not being joyful. When you know the enemy is defeated or can be defeated, and that victory is within your grasp, you cannot help but have a smile on your face.

Years ago I attended the final game of the World Series. I was blessed by being able to sit on the front row behind the dugout. The game was intense and the crowd was really into it. But when the final out was made, I observed a distinct difference between the two dugouts. The team that had won was having a victory celebration. They were leaping on each other, jumping up and down and having a great time. While in the other dugout, the dugout of the losing team, there was great sadness.
