One. I and some other Christians are greatly concerned about an interfaith venture which has taken place at various evangelical churches and Christian venues around Australia. It allows an Islamic Imam to share his faith and push his agenda. If secular folk want to run with this, fine, but it seems most dangerous to have Christian groups and churches promoting such things. UN Vote: Rudd Breaks With Howard On Israel

Israeli FlagAustralian FlagAUSTRALIA has switched its position to vote against Israel on two resolutions at the United Nations, ending the Howard government’s unswerving alignment with the United States and raising concern from the Jewish community.

The move also signals to the incoming Obama administration that the Rudd Government plans to take a different approach to the Howard government on the international stage.

In the weekend vote in New York, Australia supported a resolution calling on Israel to stop establishing settlements in the Palestinian territories and a resolution calling for the Geneva Conventions to apply in the Palestinian territories. (more…)

Misconceived Attempt To Find Common Ground With Islam

Common Ground with Islam?

During this week 3rd to 7th November 2008, 48 Muslim and Catholic theologians are meeting in Rome in order to discuss a document elaborated last year by 138 senior Muslim scholars. The document, A Common Word Between Us and You, proclaims itself to be an attempt to find common ground between the two religions in order to bring peace to the world.

The thesis of A Common Word is essentially that Christians should come to agreement with Muslims that love of God and love of neighbour are the most important aspects of the two faiths and therefore instead of fighting one another, they should seek to outdo each other with good deeds. (more…)

On Wednesday the 22nd of October 2008 at the Catch the Fire weekly fasting and prayer meeting in Melbourne, Pastor Danny shared with his core team of around 40 intercessory prayer warriors, a dream of serious warning that he received from the Lord the night before!

Pastor Danny stated, “I saw a man firing randomly with a weapon at people on the streets and many were falling dead. I was very disturbed and was crying. Then the scene changed and I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I awoke from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God,  ‘My wrath is about to be released upon Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of the innocent children in the womb.  Now, call on My people to repent and pray!’” (more…)

Christian Counsellor Refusing To Give Advice On Sexual Problems To Homosexual Couples Loses Position With Relate

Gary McFarlaneGary McFarlane, a Christian counsellor from Bristol, has been dismissed from his position at Relate after raising concerns about advising same sex couples on directive sexual therapy. Mr McFarlane had counseled same sex partnerships, but when it came to directive sex therapy, he felt that he would be directly encouraging sexual sin  For several years he has been able to successfully counsel couples, helping them to restore their relationships. He has always received positive feedback from supervisors and clients.  In 2007 Mr McFarlane, whilst training as a sex therapist, discussed the potential conflict with his supervisor. However managers at Relate did not offer to accommodate Mr McFarlane’s position but instead suspended him in December 2007 for what they believed was a breach of the equal opportunities policy. As a result, Mr McFarlane lost all his clients and was unable to continue counselling. In January 2008 he was reinstated on the basis that he would conform to the equal opportunities policy with the proviso that he could mention his concerns about sexual counselling in the future. However, a short time after returning to his job, complaints were made by employees and Mr McFarlane was called into a disciplinary meeting and eventually dismissed in March 2008 after his employers concluded that he had failed to adhere to the equal opportunities policy. Mr McFarlane was not given an opportunity to discuss his views and no attempt was made to acccommodate his beliefs, despite his success as a couple’s counsellor. (more…)

The latest attempt by the country’s largest atheist group, the Freedom from Religion Foundation, to banish reliance on God in America, is coming in the form of a lawsuit against President George W. Bush, among others, for their propagation of the National Day of Prayer.  The intercessory day developed from America’s first official call to prayer in 1775 by the Continental Congress which included such members as: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. The 90-minute debate between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden will begin at 9 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on all major television networks.

I’ve publicly endorsed Sen. John McCain and Sarah Palin, so you know for whom I will be rooting. I’ve reported in the Strang Report how unfair the media has been to Gov. Palin, even ridiculing her Pentecostal background. Now we’ve learned that tonight’s moderator, Gwen Ifill of PBS, has written a pro-Obama book. So much for objectivity.

Speaker (Harry Jenkins) wants Lords Prayer out of the houseFollowing is an article that appeared all over the Australian Media regarding the Secular Humanistic, Islamic, and Interfaith attempt to remove the daily reading of the Lord’s Prayer from the Australian Parliament.

KEVIN Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull both dismissed calls yesterday to replace the Lord’s Prayer with an acknowledgement of Australia’s traditional Aboriginal owners at the daily opening of federal parliament.

The nation’s peak Muslim group and the Greens have backed moves to change the century-old tradition so as to be more inclusive of all Australians.

Sharia Law Is ‘Not Fit For The UK’, Says A Labour Muslim MP

Labour MP Sadiq Khan Message: Labour MP Sadiq Khan said all Muslims should learn English – ‘the passport to participation in mainstream society’

A Labour Muslim minister has warned that Islamic law is too unsophisticated for Britain.

Sadiq Khan said women could be ‘ abused’ by sharia courts, which may give unequal bargaining power to the sexes.

He said: ‘The burden is on those who want to open up these courts to persuade us why they should.’

Mr Khan, who was made a community cohesion minister in this month’s Government reshuffle, rejected the argument that the courts could operate in the same way as the Jewish Beth Din courts.

He said Muslim life in Britain was not advanced enough to run a similar religious legal system.

The MP for Tooting in South London added: ‘I would be very concerned about sharia courts applying in the UK. (more…)
