Ps Daniel speaking out on the Refugee Crisis / Please call 2 Perth Hospitals to speak against Muslims only prayer room / Perth meetings report

Dear family & friends in Christ,

1) You may click the following link to listen to Ps Daniel speaking out on the Refugee Crisis.

2) Top URGENT. Please call the Fiona Stanley Hospital (08 6152 4013) and the Perth Children’s Hospital (1800 303 303) to state your protest against the ‘Muslim only prayer room’.

Following are some questions you can ask them.

Why a Muslim only prayer room, while all the others have to use the interfaith prayer room? Where did you get the funding from?

Isn’t this discrimination against all other faiths? Who gave the approval for this prayer room? What is their response to your complaint?

Please be very nice to them, but also be very firm. Don’t let them get away giving you any excuses. This is very important.

3) We praise and thank God for His wonderful hand at work over the last weekend in Perth (WA), as Ps Daniel and his team from Melbourne spoke and ministered at 5 meetings on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Many people attended the meetings and were greatly blessed.

On Friday night the RUAP meeting was addressed by National President Daniel Nalliah and WA State President Anthony Hardwick.

Several unchurched people came to the meeting and stated, “we never knew that there are such passionate Christians who love Australia and have the guts to stand up for what they believe in.”

In the plane, at the airport, in the shopping centres, people were so very open to hear the message and some commented, “if we don’t stand up now, it will be too late”.

Ps Daniel addressed the RUAP WA State team at a breakfast on Saturday morning and planned out some parts of their strategy for the next election. We also thank God for the good media coverage.

On Saturday night Ps Daniel along with Liberal MPs Peter Abertz & Nick Goiran participated in a Political Q&A, which was a great successes, as many attended this forum. Peter & Nick who are sitting members of the WA Parliament spoke very well and did not hide their faith in Jesus.

Ps Daniel stated, “I am first a Pastor, then a politician. Christians have failed in politics, because they try to act as if they are in church when they are in parliament. Because the church is too passive and does not know how to stand up with guts. The nation is looking for real leadership. It is time for the church to wake up and take her stand. If not the vacuum might be filled by Islam, but may I say ‘NOT ON MY WATCH’.

The two Sunday services were great as we thank God for His mighty presence.

    Hi Pastor Nallliah,
I did ring the Fiona Stanely Hospital and the spokeswoman said that prayer room can be used by any faiths its just separate to the other general area because a sink was required in there for ritual washing. apparently anyone can go in there to its not exclusively for Muslims only. It says “prayer room” on the door and I’m told it doesnt say anything like “Muslim prayer room”. Funding was the “Health Department” I was told. Approval was after lots of consultation with groups way back in the planning stages. So in summary we would need to ask the Health Department (freedom of information) who funded the room or was any money paid to them from Islamic sources.

Here is a reply I received from Fiona Stanley Hospital for your info.

    Dear Tony,

Thank you for contacting to raise your concerns. The hospital has a commitment to providing a comfortable and safe environment to people that use the service, which is a very diverse group of individuals. The pastoral care services and facilities at Fiona Stanley Hospital support a multi-faith model and were designed through an extensive consultation process to accommodate the needs of a broad range of people and groups. This consultation was done before the hospital was built. The facilities include a contemplation room (Chapel), garden to support patients of Aboriginal descent and a Muslim prayer room. The decision to provide a Multi Faith Centre is certainly not intended to marginalise or privilege one religious group over another, but to provide a multicultural inclusive space that equally respects each person’s right to their own religious beliefs and preferences. It also provides resources appropriate to specific religious traditions. Muslims, for legitimate reasons fundamental to their religious practices, require a separate prayer room and ablution facilities. The hospital is state funded and the costs for the pastoral care facilities was included in the overall building costs.

    Kind regards,
    Michelle

    Hi,

I have just phoned both Fiona Stanley Hospital and Princess Margarite Children’s Hospital the outcome:

The Customer advocates at both hospitals have assured me that the facilities for the Muslim’s are not exclusive, but form part of a general worship area, accommodating ALL ‘religious’ faiths.

As a result they have supplied basins and water for the Muslims necessary for their worship practice.

They also assured me that anyone of any faith or no faith can use all the facilities in the area set aside.

    Regards,

    Lee

Here is a reply I got from Perth Children’s Hospital.
    Regards,Tony

    Dear Tony,
    Thank you for your enquiry.
We have had a number of enquiries of this nature and would like to reassure you that Perth Children’s Hospital will not have a Muslim only prayer room.
The contemplation room at the Perth Children’s Hospital will be configured to accommodate for all religions as well as for those just requiring a quiet place for contemplation, noting that hospitals can be a stressful place for patients and their families and carers.
I hope this addresses your concerns.
    Kind regards
    Gemma, on behalf of PCH@health.wa.gov.au
