Cameron: It’s time to stop tolerating the Islamic extremists and get immigrants to respect British ‘core values’

David Cameron and Angela MerkelBy Jason Groves – 5th February 2011

David Cameron today pledged to make Britain ‘a lot less’ tolerant towards Islamic extremists who whip up hatred against the West.

In a major speech on terrorism, the Prime Minister argued that Britain has been too ‘passive’ towards organisations and preachers who poison the minds of young Muslims.

Mr Cameron said Britain needs to be less tolerant and more judgemental when faced with ideologies that threaten the country’s basic values.

David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the International Conference on Security Policy in Munich today. ‘Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and much more active, muscular liberalism,’ the Prime Minister said.

Signalling a major departure from Labour’s softly-softly approach, he  suggested that to ‘belong’ in Britain, individuals must sign up to core values such as freedom of speech, the rule of law and democracy.
In a barely-concealed attack on the opposition, he will say: ‘It’s time to turn the page on the failed policies of the past.’

Will China ultimately be a Christian-led Nation?

Chinese Christian WorshipBy Lauren Green – Published January 20, 2011

According to China Aid, a Texas-based human rights group, the number of Christians in China has increased 100-fold since 1949. Current estimates range from 80 million to 130 million active members. And one startling estimate from a Chinese Christian businessman has that number doubling or even tripling in the next generation.

Christianity could become one of the macro forces shaping Chinese culture, say experts like Dr. David Aikman, author of “Jesus in Beijing.”‬‪

“If the Chinese become Christianized … which doesn’t mean you have a majority of people who are Christians, but it means about 25 to 30 percent of people in positions of influence, in politics, in culture, in the media. If you have that component of a major power that accepts Christianity enthusiastically as a guide to life, that is going to change the world view of the leaders of China.”‬‪

Others argue that even if the more generous estimate of 130 Christians is true, it’s still a drop in the bucket in a population of more than a billion people.

“They all preach the same gospel. There are no liberals or conservative branches … they all believe the same.”

Egypt now fears Obama a ‘Manchurian President’

President Obama2011 WorldNetDaily – Posted: February 02, 2011

‘They are trying to understand why he is acting against U.S. interests’ Top members of the Egyptian government say they feel betrayed by President Obama, charging that he is acting against American interests.

“Mubarak’s regime feels Obama is pushing the advancement of the Muslim Brotherhood against U.S. interests,” said WND’s Jerusalem bureau chief and senior reporter Aaron Klein. “They are genuinely trying to understand why Obama is seemingly championing the anti-regime protests.”

Klein said that a top Egyptian diplomat with whom he has developed a rapport over the last few years asked him earlier this week to explain Obama’s motivation to support the opposition to Mubarak.

“I told him none of this should be a surprise,” said Klein, “that the Obama administration has developed an extensive relationship over the last few years with allies of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Get the comprehensive probe that exposes Obama’s Marxist, anti-American past – and present, in “Manchurian President.”

“That my investigating has proven that Obama has been closely associated throughout his political career with radical-left elements who have long petitioned for policies many believe are aimed at weakening the American enterprise both domestically and internationally.”

Jesus is Alive and Living in Australia

Mary Metcalfe cleaing up after the floodsSaturday, January 15, 2011 By Alan Metcalfe Special to ASSIST News Service

IRVINE, CA (ANS) — If you have been looking for Jesus this past week, He has been busy in Australia. For sure He has also been in Brazil, Peru, Germany, and wherever there has been need, but for sure, He has been in Australia this week; and He is staying on.

In Brisbane alone, a city of 2 million people, 50,000 people have officially registered as volunteers; and you can multiply this number by at least 10, when all the unofficial volunteers are counted. There has been an incredible outpouring of community spirit; and where that spirit is; there is Jesus Christ among the people.

All across the cities of Brisbane and Ipswich; and throughout the state, there has been an incredible outpouring of support from Queenslanders to help those in need at this time.

The flooded Metcalfe home at Goodna, Queensland, about 30 miles west of Brisbane. At the time this photo was taken, the water was starting to fall. “We believe the water covered the roof at the peak,’ said Alan Metcalfe

After the news spread that our home at Goodna, a suburb on the eastern edge of Ipswich in Queensland, had been submerged by flood waters and badly damaged, we have seen dozens of volunteers coming to help to us and our neighbors, and for this we are very thankful Thank you also for the ASSIST News readers who have emailed their prayers and support. Thank you. This is what Christianity is all about. This is Jesus Christ at work in the world.

Smith Wigglesworth Church Set to be Resurrected

Smith Wigglesworth PreachingThursday, January 20, 2011 – Assist News Service

MANNINGHAM, UK (ANS) — The site of world-famous supernatural happenings is set to be restored to its former glory – and turned into a centre of healing, a museum and coffee shop.

Bowland Street Mission, nestling between a taxi firm and a takeaway food shop, in Manningham, in Northern England, is where the extraordinary “people’s preacher” Smith Wigglesworth had his base.

Now news that the building is to be restored and used to continue his ministry has believers around the world buzzing with excitement – and booking flights for Bradford.

Brian Holland, of Idle, with his wife Kathryn, and international preacher and broadcaster Terry Quinn are founding members of the Smith Wigglesworth Foundation which has agreed a long-term lease on the building.

Brian said: “I have been studying Wigglesworth for nearly two decades and while only a select number of Bradfordians know about this guy, he is big news around the world.

“Wigglesworth was a catalyst for the charismatic revival of the church and one of the fathers of the Pentecostal church.

Egyptian Missionaries Respond to Train Shootings with Christian Love Campaign

Civil unrest in EgyptThursday, January 20, 2011

Special to the ASSIST News Service – From Christian Aid Mission

CAIRO, EGYPT (ANS) — In the wake of last week’s fatal train shooting, and a series of Christmas church attacks and the New Year terror bombing, a leading native missionary leader is calling for “a Christian love campaign in Egypt to all people who are not Christians.”

The leader told Christian Aid Africa Director Rae Burnett that “persecution is increasing everywhere” in Egypt and asked Christians overseas to continue to pray, even though the news media is not reporting the increased pressure on Christians in Egypt.

Last week an off-duty policeman boarded a train and went from car to car shooting those he identified as Christians – one man was killed in the attack and four women were wounded.

“We wonder if Christians will continue to be safe riding trains or walking in the streets,” said the Egyptian leader, “but we are happy that God has placed us here, and we believe that He will use this time to bring many souls to Him. We pray that God will touch many hearts with His love, and that the gospel will be known to all Egyptians.”

E-News: Three Liberals speak up on multiculturalism and Islam

Liberal PoliticiansSalt Shakers E-News

Following current articles on multiculturalism in Britain and subsequent reports from Australia, three federal Liberal MPs have spoken out.

Kevin Andrews MHR, Sen Mitch Fifield and Sen Cory Bernardi have warned about the dangers of separatism, the dangers of Islam, the risk of losing Australian culture … and the Islamisation of Australia. The MPs mentioned the silence of political leaders about extreme Islam, the risk of ‘parallel societies’ such as is happening in the UK and Europe where Muslims want shari’a law and the proliferation of ‘halal’ food as problems…

Liberal MPs warn of ‘Islam danger’ – Herald Sun, 9 Feb 2011

AUSTRALIA risks becoming a nation of “ethnic enclaves” that unknowingly buys livestock slaughtered “in the name of Allah”, senior Liberal MPs have warned.

Opening up a new political faultline, former immigration minister Kevin Andrews lashed out at political leaders who failed to speak out on the rise of extreme Islam, claiming the silence contributes to the rise of One Nation-type movements.

Protests in Egypt / Understanding the Middle East / Christian Persecution

Protests in Egypt By Pr Daniel

Dear family & friends in Christ in Australia and around the World,

I am sure you have been watching the unfolding of events in Egypt and across the Middle East over the past 2 weeks.

I do not claim to be an authority on issues in the Middle East. However, because I spent time working and ministering along with my family in Saudi Arabia, the heartland of Islam, I somewhat understand the mindset of much of the Muslim Arab world.

It seems that the media is all out to promote the change of government in Egypt. Now, if the media supports a particular side, you always need to understand that they almost always promote the negative and not the positive. That is simply the way of the secular left media.

Many governments in the Arab world are pro-West, such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abudhabi, Yemen, Turkey, Iraq, Doha, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and others.

One of the main reasons for this is that the children of the government leaders and of other influential leaders in these countries have studied in the West. Additionally, many of these countries look to the West for security in an constantly unstable and terror threatened region. Many Middle Eastern governments are unsure of whether their own Muslim countrymen might turn their guns on them. They know that they can trust the people and governments in the West. However, they don’t know that this trust comes only because most of the countries in the West were founded on Judeo-Christian values based on the Bible as the only true Word of God.

Stories of Heroism Emerge from Aussie Floods

Teenager lost in the floodsby Aimee Herd : Jan 14, 2011 : Bryony Jones – CNN.com

“I can only imagine what was going on inside to give up his life to save his brother, even though he was petrified of water. He is our little hero.”

A CNN.com report notes the courageous actions by some of those trapped by the horrific flooding in Australia this week.

In one instance, Queensland teenager Jordan Rice sacrificed his own life to save his brother’s when the family became trapped in their car as a sudden flash flood overtook it. (Photo: CNN.com)

Jordan, his mother and his younger brother, Blake, struggled to survive on the roof of the car, as they waited for rescuers to help them to safety. When help arrived planning to take Jordan first, he demanded that they save his little brother and mother before him.

Blake was rescued, but it was too late to help either Jordan or his mom. The boy’s father, John Tyson, who had not been with them at the time, told a local newspaper, “Jordan can’t swim and is terrified of water. But when the man went to rescue him, he said ‘save my brother first.’

“I can only imagine what was going on inside to give up his life to save his brother, even though he was petrified of water. He is our little hero,” said Tyson.

Egypt, the great antagonist of Israel

Egypt, America, and IsraelEgyptA response to the unrest in Cairo by ICEJ Executive Director, Rev. Malcolm Hedding

February 1st, 2011

Egypt, but for brief moments in history, has always been a great antagonist of the people of Israel. This saga really began some 1700 years before Christ when Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, was wrongly accused and left to rot in an Egyptian jail. If it were not for God’s supernatural deliverance he would have perished there! His rise to power was phenomenal as was his leadership skills. He not only saved Egypt from starvation but he delivered his family and the known world as well and thereby guaranteed the existence of the Jewish people and the Messianic line of descent. If it were not for God’s supernatural deliverance Israel would have perished!

As time went by a Pharaoh arose “who knew not Joseph” and literally enslaved the Jewish people, murdered their babies and threatened the nation with extinction. God went before them and provided a deliverer in the person of Moses. He brought Israel out of Egypt with great signs and wonders by his hands. If it were not for God’s supernatural deliverance Israel would have perished!

When the children of Israel got to the Red Sea the Egyptians had them cornered. There was nowhere to go and so, once again, by a miracle, in response to Moses outstretched arm, the sea parted and Israel escaped unharmed on dry land. If it were not for God’s supernatural deliverance Israel would have perished at the hands of the Egyptians!

What Is Next for Egypt and the Arab World?

Egyptian President MubarakASSIST News Service (ANS)  By Dan Wooding – Founder of ASSIST

Saturday, January 29, 2011

CAIRO, EGYPT (ANS) — The BBC is reporting that leaders from the US, UK, France and Germany have urged Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak to avoid violence and enact reforms as protests continue.

In a story that appears on the BBC website, Jeremy Bowen writes, “In Cairo, thousands of demonstrators have ignored a curfew. The army is standing by and not intervening.

“Mr. Mubarak has appointed his first ever vice-president and a new prime minister as he struggles to regain control after five days of street demonstrations.

“At least 74 people have been killed since Tuesday, and looting is ongoing.

Christianity taking over planet?

Mega Shift by James RutzEvidence suggests it’s fastest growing faith on Earth

Posted on WorldNetDaily on December 31, 2010 2011

What is the fastest-growing religion on Earth?

Most news reports suggest it is Islam.

But the evidence suggests a new, or, perhaps, original form of biblically inspired evangelical Christianity is sweeping through places like China, Africa, India and Southeast Asia – making it, by far, the fastest growing faith on the planet.

In “Megashift,” author Jim Rutz coins a new phrase to define this fast-growing segment of the population. He calls them “core apostolics” – or “the new saints who are at the heart of the mushrooming kingdom of God.”

Rutz makes the point that Christianity is overlooked as the fastest-growing faith in the world because most surveys look at the traditional Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church while ignoring Christian believers who have no part of either.

He says there are 707 million “switched-on disciples” who fit into this new category and that this “church” is exploding in growth.
