Objection To Charter Of Rights Proposal

Dear Pastors/ church leaders/ friends,

The National Human Rights Consultation Secretariat of the Attorney-General’s Department are taking responses on or before 15 June 2009 to a proposed Charter of Rights in Australia which may:

1. allow minority groups to impose their “rights” on the majority (for example on abortion and/or same-sex marriage);
2. allow unelected judges instead of elected representatives to determine if any laws are not compatible with human rights).

If you like you can send your OBJECTION to the proposal for a Charter of Rights in Australia by completing your name and address on any of the 3 sample responses attached (with amendments as you wish) and posting the same to the National Human Rights Consultation Secretariat of the Attorney-General’s Department before 15 June 2009. Salt Shakers E-News – So You Thought We Were Kidding

So you thought we were kidding!

When we said that appeasing bad laws by seeking exemptions is wrong many of you probably said “they’re mad”. Well here is evidence from the UK as to why we say it is wrong. Because once you have the bad law with the exemptions you start the countdown to their removal. So by not totally opposing the law and compromising YOU ULTIMATELY LOSE. Appeasement only gives temporary relief.

This is what happened in Britain – most Christian groups/denominations did not oppose the laws, they asked for exemptions – and yesterday’s headlines read…

Law ‘will force churches to employ gay staff’

Churches will be banned from turning down gay job applicants on the grounds of their sexuality under new anti-discrimination laws, a Government minister said. (more…)

Will Obama Abandon Israel?

By Star Parker – WorldNetDaily

Barack Obama’s obvious comfort level with leaders of unfree countries shouldn’t surprise anyone. He is not only our first black president. He is also our first president who doesn’t like the free country he was elected to lead and feels his job is to change it.

Obama’s cordial encounter with Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez and his bow of deference in London to the Saudi Arabian king are extensions of behavior we have always seen on the black left. Jesse Jackson openly embraced Chavez, as well as having maintained relations with the likes of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi and Yasser Arafat.

This should be kept in mind as our president now makes his own effort to bring peace to the Middle East.

It should be clear to anyone conscious and watching that central to Obama’s Middle East strategy is to disabuse the long-held notion that there exists a “special relationship” between the United States and Israel. The sense of unique kinship between our country and the Jewish state has existed since Israel’s founding just 60 years ago. (more…)

Church And State Reunited

Amanda O’Brien – The Australian

Australian Flag

SIX months after being elected, a god-squad of devout Liberals preaching morality and Christian values in a parliament better known for misconduct and lewd behaviour is shaping as a new force in West Australian politics.

While their views are not unique – other state politicians such as Liberal David Clarke, Christian Democrats Fred Nile and Gordon Moyes in NSW, and Family First’s Robert Brokenshire and Dennis Hood in South Australia, have pushed similar themes for years – the new MPs in Western Australia potentially pack a bigger punch.
They’re in government, not Opposition, and they have the numbers.

The group is being closely watched after putting Premier Colin Barnett on notice that integrity and moral certainties would guide their votes.
Chief among the Bible-belters, Peter Abetz, an ordained minister of the Christian Reformed Church and the brother of right-wing Liberal senator Eric Abetz, makes no bones about his intention to put his Christian values first, even if it means breaking ranks. (more…)

Hospital Bans Bibles, Crosses From Chapel

Mosman Mayor Dominic Lopez inside the RNS chapelWORSHIPPERS at one of the state’s largest hospital chapels have been ordered to get rid of crucifixes and Bibles and pull down religious pictures and symbols for fear of offending other religions.

The decision by Royal North Shore Hospital has outraged patients and their families, many of whom have turned to the chapel for comfort in their darkest hours.

Hospital managers ordered the ban on symbols of any kind because the chapel was increasingly being used by a number of different faiths.

But Mosman Mayor Dominic Lopez said angry patients were offended that the chapel no longer represented a holy place.

Ban will incite fear, religious leaders say

“I used to sit there and pray when my wife was dying of breast cancer and look at that cross,” he said. “Now it is just a hall and the decision is bulls. . .. You either have a chapel or you don’t. It’s offensive to have a church or chapel and not have a cross in it.” (more…)

Obama Is A Disgrace To America

By Jim Bramlett

ObamaDear friends,

In addressing the Turkish Parliament, Barack Hussein Obama said, “We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over so many centuries to shape the world for the better, including my own country.”  (Emphasis supplied.)  http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D97CVOMG0&show_article=1

What??? What better has Islam done, anywhere, anytime, especially in America?  The Islamic faith has produced nothing but violence, death, poverty, and repression for centuries.  “Shape the world for the better”?  Unbelievable.  To have said those words, Obama is either a liar or an ignorant fool.

Plus, a few days earlier, Barack Hussein Obama disgracefully criticized his own country to a European audience, heard worldwide.

Plus, 2-3 days ago he actually bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia, which experts say is accepted as a gesture of submission.  The king represents one of the most evil regimes and sects of the most evil religion on earth.  This is shameful for an American President.  With the other things that he has done and said, in his heart this could have actually been intended as a gesture of submission.  See http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=93696 (more…)

Salt Shakers E-News – Goodbye Mr Kirby – Hello ‘Miss’ Bell And Her Lesbian ‘Partner’!

Many people were pleased to see a homosexual activist Judge depart the High Court with the retirement of Justice Michael Kirby last month.

Unfortunately, his replacement could be an even stronger activist and homosexual rights campaigner.

Whilst Kirby was without doubt a very intelligent man, we, and many others, had considerable concerns about his constant promotion of his own chosen lifestyle. Something High Court Judges are not supposed to do.

Justice Kirby was, of course, an out homosexual living in a long term relationship when appointed. He was not open about his homosexuality when appointed in 1996 by then PM, Paul Keating, but his appointees clearly knew very well that he was. Kirby did not publicly reveal his homosexuality until after his mother died in 1999. (more…)

How I Am Praying For The President

ObamaBy Paul Edwards From “Townhall Todays Opinion USA”

We should certainly pray for the president. We should pray for wisdom for him, for strength for him, for protection for him and his family. But where his plans clearly oppose righteousness, we should pray they fail. Where his plans clearly are intended to do harm to the people he leads, contrary to the oath he swore before God, God’s people should pray that those plans do not succeed.

Reasonable men are now beginning to question whether or not Barack Obama is intentionally acting to harm the interests of the American people. (See the American Enterprise Institute’s Kevin Hassett, and mainstream media pundit Howard Fineman). Can God’s people stand idle and allow their elected leader to undermine righteousness? To do so is to be complicit in the unrighteous deeds of our elected leader. We have an obligation to hold him to account, and Barack Obama is ultimately accountable to the Judge of all the earth. 1) Abortion Law Under Challenge In Victoria 2) Salt Shakers E-News: NSW – Greens MP Calls For Decriminalisation Of Abortion

Dear friends and family in Christ,

1) The following article recently appeared in the Age.  Please keep praying and acting for a divine reversal of the abortion laws in Victoria!

“Abortion law under challenge”

Jill Stark

THE federal Attorney-General is under increasing pressure from within his own party to use his powers to overturn Victoria’s new abortion laws, which leading lawyers and Catholic hospitals say are in breach of international law.

At issue is a clause in the new legislation that forces doctors who oppose abortion to declare their belief and refer patients seeking terminations to specialists who are willing to provide the procedure.

Queen’s Counsel Neil Young, a former Federal Court judge, and barrister Peter Willis, a former adviser to the attorney-general’s office, who examined the legislation on behalf of Catholic Health Australia, say that Australia will fail to meet its international obligations unless the clause is removed. Reborn Costello Strides Ahead Of Turnbull

The Australian

by  Dennis Shanahan, Political editor | March 10, 2009

Peter CostelloMalcolm TurnbullPETER Costello is the publicly preferred Liberal leader over Malcolm Turnbull as Kevin Rudd and the Labor Government continue to dominate the Coalition during the economic crisis.

The former treasurer, who is increasingly seen as an alternative Liberal leader, has a two-to-one advantage over Mr Turnbull as preferred prime minister, with strong support among men, Coalition voters, older Australians and the 35 to 49 year olds who are most likely to have mortgages and children. Even More Treachery

Dear friends

Prime Minister Kevin RuddObamaBoth Rudd and Obama won their elections in part by seeking to woo Christians. Yet both have consistently promoted anti-faith, anti-family and anti-life policies.

Today the Rudd government announced that it has reversed the ban on foreign aid funding for abortion services: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/03/10/killing-babies-to-improve-their-health/

Please write to Mr Rudd and express your concerns about this anti-life decision: http://www.pm.gov.au/contact/index.cfm

Costello Fuels Comeback Talk

Peter CostelloHerald Sun – February 05, 2009

A HIGH-tempo start to the parliamentary year has triggered speculation that Peter Costello has rediscovered his hunger for politics.

But the former treasurer still won’t reveal if he will contest the next election.

In recent days, Mr Costello has made his first substantive speech to Opposition MPs since the 2007 election – urging Liberals to adopt a more hardline stance against contentious Labor policies. (more…)

What Will It Take?

Dear friends

One. Sometimes I wonder what it will take to rouse a sleeping church. Will we have to start going to prison or face other penalties before God’s people begin to wake up? I am still grieving about the story of Warwick Marsh of the Fatherhood Foundation. This Christian pro-family activist has spent tens of thousands of volunteer hours helping men not commit suicide; make a go of life, etc. An ideal appointment as a Men’s Ambassador.

Yet the Rudd Government thought he was unqualified because he cared more about the well being of children than wanting to advance the cause of the radical homosexual lobby. Therefore he was dumped, and Kevin Rudd – who campaigned as a Christian to win their votes – said it was a “mistake” to appoint Marsh.

I have written up this whole ugly affair here: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2008/11/28/coercing-tolerance/

Please have a read, and then perhaps allow for a bit of righteous indignation. But don’t just get angry; do something. Please write to Health Minister Nicola Roxon and share your concerns, in your own words: Nicola.Roxon.MP@aph.gov.au (more…)

UN Vote: Rudd Breaks With Howard On Israel

By Phillip Hudson,

November 10, 2008

Israeli FlagAustralian FlagAUSTRALIA has switched its position to vote against Israel on two resolutions at the United Nations, ending the Howard government’s unswerving alignment with the United States and raising concern from the Jewish community.

The move also signals to the incoming Obama administration that the Rudd Government plans to take a different approach to the Howard government on the international stage.

In the weekend vote in New York, Australia supported a resolution calling on Israel to stop establishing settlements in the Palestinian territories and a resolution calling for the Geneva Conventions to apply in the Palestinian territories. (more…)
