General Immediate Media Release 24th June 2014
Rise Up Australia National President Daniel Nalliah recently stated, “Sunday 22nd June 2014 marked 7 years since we won the court battle for free speech with the Islamic Council of Victoria.
Whilst I was speaking in Katherine & Darwin in the Northern Territory over this past weekend, I decided to organise a public rally for tomorrow, Wednesday 25th June. To be held from 12 to 1pm on the steps of the Victorian State Parliament, in Spring St. Melbourne for taking a stand for Free Speech. We also support the removal of Clause 18C in the Anti-discrimination Act in the Federal Parliament.
May I appeal to all who call Australia home. If you really love your country, please take the time to come and join us at this rally to make our voice heard and take a stand to Keep Australia Australian.
For those of you who live interstate, please encourage your families & friends in Victoria to come along, equipped with Aussie flags. We can make a difference right now so that the next generation can continue to enjoy the freedoms we have.
Unfortunately, Europe and the West is losing the battle, through “tolerance” to Multiculturalism. The One World Government agenda, pushed through the UN, is currently de-Christianising the West. The moral majority is losing its voice and rights because of political correctness. Minority groups, such as Islam, are on a relentless march. We must stop this now! And I repeat now!…. before it is too late.
If you cower timidly today and don’t stand up, you might not see a free tomorrow. It might be all too late. Certainly, let’s not leave the baggage for our children and their offspring. If we stand up now, we might just win this battle. If we leave it for the next generation, it will be too late.
The Church during Hitler’s time went on mute. The results were the slaughter of millions of innocent people. Will the Church be on mute once again?”

I would be interested in any feedback/comments/corrections to my comments I posted on Facebook today. Amanda Wells is a Christian entrepreneur and speaker/motivator.

It is amusing how Christianity can be slandered by radio and TV, yet one comment about Islam and Michael Smith is sacked by 2GB….. I find this absurd and scary!

Phil McGee: Totally agree Amanda, but perhaps there has been threats made against 2 GB and they took the chicken row out.

Brent Melville: Speak up Amanda! Don’t be silenced. They used so-called racial and religious vilification laws in Victoria to try to silence Danny Nahlia and eventually he won through some clever legal work and much prayer. Unfortunately they did not take it to the High Court to test it under the freedom of religion provisions of Section 116 – the same provision that got funds for chaplains chopped off. “The Commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.” So how can state governments punish a preacher for expressing a religious opinion? They shouldn’t but the church is not standing up for its true place in free societies.

It doesn’t just apply to the Commonwealth government in Canberra, it applies to every state and territory too. Section 109: “When a law of a State is inconsistent with a law of the Commonwealth, the latter shall prevail, and the former shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be invalid.” The constitution is the highest law of the Commonwealth.

Brent Melville: Islamic groups are using state “anti vilification” laws to suppress critics, including Christians. In so doing they are suppressing free speech and in my opinion using the government to “establish” their religion. So they are attacking and perverting religious freedom. The church takes criticism on the chin, deserved or not deserved. But the church does have a special place under English law (legal maxims say so). That’s why our Parliaments have prayers and our courts have Bibles and that’s why our Constitution Preamble says “whereas the people … humbly relying on the blessing of Almighty God”. Yes, we are a Christian nation culturally and historically. But unlike Islam or other ideologies, we do not enforce it.
