Hey there! My name is Eric. I have been a Christian all my life. At the age of thirteen i was christened at the church where I grew up called timonium presbyterian church. I was baptised a few weeks back at a charismatic church in Annapolis called Antioch, was baptised in the name of Jesus. (which is a confusing one because Jesus commanded the disciples to baptise in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Upon baptism i did not receive the gift of tongues, even though the people around me were all speaking and praising God in tongues and laying their hands on me, and telling me to raise my hands and open my mouth and shout hallelujiah and, while I did, nothing happened. I was sorely disappointed. Then, exactly a week later, I was in my bedroom listening to “Dance with Me” by JesusCulture and i had this experience where i literally cried for about an hour, but it was a joyful crying and very pleasurable. I held my hands up and was so overjoyed. But even then, as far as I can remember, i didn’t speak more than a couple words or sentences if that, in another language.
I deeply want the gift of tongues, as a seal and a sign showing that I truly really do belong to God and I have nothing to worry about because i am his child. I want the gift of healing, the gift of prophesy. I want them all (lol!)….but at the same time i realize God has different gifts for everybody. i want to be of service to God and be someone he can rely on for anything. I want to do missions, i have been to ethiopia and botswana and qatar before and would really like some connections for ministry and missions work; as well as some insight, instruction, or any advice you might have for me. Take your time, don’t feel like you have to email me right away. Please don’t rush it. Take a few days if you have to, i can be patient. But i would really like to hear back from you. Then, exactly a week later, I was in my bedroom listening to “Dance with Me” by JesusCulture and i had this experience where i literally cried for about an hour, but it was a joyful crying and very pleasurable. I held my hands up and was so overjoyed. But even then, as far as I can remember, i didn’t speak more than a couple words or sentences if that, in another language.
My experience was similar I went to church and the pastor asked if anyone wanted to received the gift of tongues…. I went up believing God will honor the gift and a week later I experienced the gift on my ride home from work. I starting speaking in an unkown language and crying a joyful cry. I was shocked at the rapid movement of my tongue and the only word I could say in english was Jesus!! I told my pastor the following sunday and he just nodded. I assumed this was all to it …. Months later the Lord used Joseph Prince on his teaching of the gifts of tongues to show me that I should continue to use my gift and I ordered the CD teaching and I pray in tongues til this day. I give God all the honor and glory!!!
