Many people were pleased to see a homosexual activist Judge depart the High Court with the retirement of Justice Michael Kirby last month.
Unfortunately, his replacement could be an even stronger activist and homosexual rights campaigner.
Whilst Kirby was without doubt a very intelligent man, we, and many others, had considerable concerns about his constant promotion of his own chosen lifestyle. Something High Court Judges are not supposed to do.
Justice Kirby was, of course, an out homosexual living in a long term relationship when appointed. He was not open about his homosexuality when appointed in 1996 by then PM, Paul Keating, but his appointees clearly knew very well that he was. Kirby did not publicly reveal his homosexuality until after his mother died in 1999.
Kirby was known as a strong ‘human rights’ campaigner which suited the then Labor cause. They were not too happy about his strong pro-monarchy stand – but it has been suggested that one reason to appoint him was to stop his activism on that issue.
Clearly, to the then Labor government it was OK to be homosexual but not a monarchist. It would appear to be the same today because we have a Labor government promoting a republic, while Penny Wong, a lesbian is on the Parliament front bench and now Virginia Bell, a lesbian, has been appointed to the High Court Bench.
Justice Kirby’s replacement is perhaps even more an activist than Michael Kirby. Bell apparently marched in the first unofficial, and illegal, 1978 homosexual parade along Oxford Street (a precursor to today’s Sydney homosexual mardi gras) and then defended in court those who were arrested for leading the march.
The Australian states that she now resides in Sydney with her female ‘partner’ who is a Barrister.
Attorney-General Robert McClelland, when announcing her appointment, said “As a public defender it’s fair to say she will bring to the court, most certainly, a social conscience as well as bringing to the High Court considerable legal expertise.”
We may well ask what sort of social conscience?
President of the decidedly liberal, Australian Law Reform Commission, David Weisbrot, said he suspected she would be a “very progressive” jurist in the tradition of Justice Kirby and that her judgments would be full of “wit, humour and life”.
Australian Women Lawyers President Georgia McMaster said Justice Bell would be a “true replacement” for Justice Kirby. “Justice Kirby has always been a champion of rights, and Virginia Bell is of the same mould”.
This appointment by the Rudd government places another potentially activist Judge on the High Court at a time when a Bill of Rights is again being discussed. There is no doubt that a Bill of Rights being interpreted by Virginia Bell and other recent appointments to the High Court could present a very dangerous scenario for traditional Christian values, including marriage and the natural family.
Homosexual activist Rodney Croome noted that, in her address to the High Court, Virginia Bell did not mention her same-sex ‘partner’. He concludes “But, in my mind, this illustrates a broader point. Recognition of same-sex entitlements is not enough to ensure same-sex partners have the same visibility and status in public life as their opposite-sex counterparts. Only equality in marriage will make this possible – for better or worse, husbands and wives are not as easily overlooked as partners.â€
If ever there was a government appointment designed to add credibility to the homosexual/lesbian lifestyle this is it.
Once again this government has shown a complete disregard for Christian values and Biblical morality.

After reading this article the first thing that come to mind is the Passage in Matthew 24 when our Lord Jesus told his disciples the various signs of the ‘end times’. There is no doubt that this passage of scriptures is coming into fruition sooner than we can imagine. Christians be on guard at all times, pray more everyday, seek God’s Will in your life, pray for strength, love and compassion to reach the lost.
Our leaders need prayer, but be careful what you pray for. We certainly do not want to hinder God’s Will for this world. God is in control, He knows what He is doing and we know that He will never leave nor forsake His children, He loves you too much. Our Lord has given us all the warning signs and how to cope when it comes, pray that you will not be deceived.
In times of persecution/tribulations, rejoice and be glad for your Redeemer lives and He is preparing a better place for you.
Take a minute or two right now and pray that God will use you to save others in whatever way HE can utilise you.
God bless you.
Helen
Who should we follow? Some professing Christians like Mr Rudd who promote homosexuality provide no leadership when they guide us away from the teachings in the Bible God has given us. A leader who could lead us in the pathway to Hell. A true leader will guide us in the ways of righteousness and lead us to Jesus the gift of God and the doorway to eternal life. Maybe they don’t teach about Sodom and Gomorrah in the church that MR RUDD GOES TO!
And it says in the bible that a lesbian is unfit to be a High Court judge…..where?
Labour are as anti-christian as you can get.
Christians need to be made aware of this every at every sermon so as they can be voted out next election!
Biblical morality is not a part of Australian law. We have the fortunate gift of a secular legal system, which preaches equality among all in a true sense.
whoever said biblical morality isnt part of australia law is dilusional—this country wa founded on christianity—where do you think freedom comes from if it wasnt for god/jesus/christianity you wouldnt be alive today god would of wiped every human off the face of the earth but he didnt…. laws are there for a reason if everybody lived the way they want did what they want the world will be destroyed sooner than you think… we need christian leadership in a governments to bring back good teachings that show us to lay down our lives for others & not to live for ourselves
