Steve Bracks, the leader who introduced the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act into Victoria (the law which raged with controversy over 5 years), announced his immediate resignation, followed by his Deputy John Thwaites, also resigning from his position in Parliament. This change of leader to the State Labor party has shocked many. We do know that many people have been and are praying for the best possible leaders to bring Godly influence accross our State & Nation. We continue to expect this in the days ahead.
It is our hope that his replacement, John Brumby, will be someone who has even better values than Mr Bracks. We wish him all the very best & God’s blessings, as he spends time with his family.

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks resigns
VICTORIAN Premier Steve Bracks announced his resignation today. Mr Bracks, who held the job for eight years, told his cabinet colleagues earlier before making the announcement this morning.
Mr Bracks was elected state Labor leader in March 1999 and took over as premier in a shock election win over Jeff Kennett in November that year.
There had been speculation that his decision was made for family reasons.
It comes just eight months after a comfortable reelection but also just weeks after his 20-year-old son Nick crashed a car while drunk.
At the time Mr Bracks said “He’s been an absolute idiot. This has really shocked me. “I just felt hopeless and useless, and you can’t help feeling a bit of a failure in some ways as a parent.”
There is speculation Water Minister John Thwaites will take over as premier, although Treasurer John Brumby’s name has also be put forward as a contender.
