A HIGH-tempo start to the parliamentary year has triggered speculation that Peter Costello has rediscovered his hunger for politics.

But the former treasurer still won’t reveal if he will contest the next election.

In recent days, Mr Costello has made his first substantive speech to Opposition MPs since the 2007 election – urging Liberals to adopt a more hardline stance against contentious Labor policies.
