Court Case Update – Catch The Fire VS Islamic Council of Victoria

Dear Family In Christ,

First let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your love, support and prayers during this time. It is your prayers that helped us keep our heads above the situation in the past 18 months, in particular in the past 4 weeks. We thank God as we know the case is progressing according to God’s will and plan.

The court case adjourned last Friday the 7th of November 2003, after 4 weeks of hearing. At first it was estimated that this case would be for 3 days, but now it seems it may be more like 7-8 weeks.

The case was adjourned on the request of the plain-tiffs council, due to their prior commitments in other states in Australia. The case is scheduled to re-commence on 11th of December until the 19th and then adjourn once again, until further notice.

The following witnesses have already been cross-examined by our counsel, the 3 complainants (Jan Jackson, Malcolm Thomas, Dominic Eades), Father Patrick MacCaniney (Catholic Priest giving evidence in support of ICV), Pro. Garry Boomer (Anglican Priest giving evidence in support of ICV – both Priests see Catch The Fire as a hindrance for multi faith unity), Mr. Yasser Soliman the President of the ICV is currently in the witness box.

Due to the sensitiveness of this issue, we have been advised by our council not to make any comments about the case. Please check our website www.catchthefire.com.au for updates. The AGE news paper has been covering this case quite accurately. We have updated the website with the articles from the AGE - very interesting reading.

Please continue to pray for our protection, God’s strength to keep us strong and encouragement for all who are involved in the case.

I also wish to bring to your attention a very special night of worship and prayer on 31st December 2003, 10.00pm – 1am, at the Melbourne Town Hall, Cnr Swanston & Collins St, Melbourne (2 mins. walk from Flinders St Station). This night of Holy Spirit filled worship, prayer and thanks to the Lord will set our hearts on fire for Jesus, as we dedicate our nation for 2004 into the Lord’s purposes.

DO NOT MISS THIS NIGHT. Please check our website or contact the office for further details. If unable to attend our Melbourne celebration where 2000 are expected to gather, why not gather together in homes, churches, or with our RUA locations together to bring in this New Year in God’s way.
